Polygonaceae is a large family of medicinal herbs that includes many species used as traditional Chinese medicine, such as Persicaria perfoliata. Here, we sequenced the complete chloroplast genome of P. perfoliata using Illumina sequencing technology with the purpose of providing a method to facilitate accurate identification. After being annotated, the complete chloroplast genome of P. perfoliata was compared with those of Fagopyrum tataricum, Persicaria chinensis, Fagopyrum dibotrys,and Fallopia multiflora. The complete chloroplast genome of P. perfoliata is 160 730 bp in length, containing a small single-copy region of 12 927 bp, a large single-copy region of 85 433 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions of 62 370 bp. A total of 131 genes were annotated, including 8 rRNA genes, 34 tRNA genes, and 84 protein-coding genes. Forty-two simple sequence repeats and 55 repeat sequences were identified. Mutational hotspot analyses indicated that five genes (matK, ndhF, ccsA, cemA,and rpl20) could be selected as candidates for molecular markers. Moreover, phylogenetic analysis showed that all the Polygonaceae species formed a monophyletic clade, and P. perfoliata showed the closest relationship with P. chinense. The study provides valuable molecular information to accurately identify P. perfoliata and assist in its development and application. Au total, 131 genes ont ete annotes, incluant 8 genes d'ARNr, 34 d'ARNt et 84 codant pour des genes. Quarante-deux microsatellites et 55 sequences repetees ont ete identifiees. Une analyse des sites les plus polymorphes a montre que cinq genes (matK, ndhF, ccsA, cemA, rpl20) s'averaient de bons candidats pour developper des marqueurs moleculaires. De plus, une analyse phylogenetique a montre que toutes les especes de Polygonaceae formaient un clade monophyletique, et que le plus proche parent du P. perfoliata etait le P. chinense. Cette etude apporte une information moleculaire precieuse pour l'identification precise du P. perfoliata et se veut utile pour le developpement et l'application d'outils d'identification. BackgroundChoriocarcinoma is a malignant tumour of trophoblastic origin. Most are gestational choriocarcinomas, which usually occur in women with an epithelial origin of the placental chorionic villi and are associated with pregnancy. It mainly originates in the gonads such as the ovaries and testes. However, it rarely occurs in the stomach and is known as primary choriocarcinoma (PGC).Case presentationA 69-year-old man complained of abdominal distention for 3 years, which worsened 1 week later. Gastroscopy showed chronic atrophic gastritis C1 (C1: indicates atrophic gastritis involving the sinus region); the pathology report of the gastroscopic specimen showed high-grade epithelial tumours in the mucosal glands. We diagnosed an occupying lesion in the stomach and performed a laparoscopically assisted distal gastrectomy and Billroth type 1 anastomosis. Postoperative pathology showed “gastric choriocarcinoma with cancerous tissue invading the entire gastric wall”. The patient was discharged on the 11th postoperative day as there were no postoperative complications. The patient was followed up until June 2022 with a good recovery and no recurrence.ConclusionWe encountered a case of Primary Gastric Choriocarcinoma, where the cancerous tissue invades the full thickness of the gastric wall.

The fluorescent emission and the photocatalytic activity of gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) are important properties of AuNCs. Here, we synthesized water-soluble, captopril (Capt) and glutathione (GSH) covered Au25(Capt)18 and Au15(GSH)13 nanoclusters and investigated their fluorescence stabilities which are correlated with the photo-redox of their surface. It was observed that Au25(Capt)18 exhibited a decay in its two-photon fluorescence emission induced by surface oxidation upon irradiation of femtosecond near-infrared laser (810 nm, 300 mW) in the presence of oxygen (O2). On the other hand, the two-photon fluorescence from Au15(GSH)13 was stable upon the same excitation. The different stabilities of the fluorescence of the two AuNCs were attributed to their different band gaps. This interpretation was confirmed by one-photon excitation with photon energy beyond the band gaps of the two AuNCs. Using experiments with the addition of several agents, the photocat alytic redox activities of gold atoms on the surface of Au25(Capt)18 were understood and tuned. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
