2. Guiding Teacher Forcing with Seer Forcing for Neural Machine Translation

Abstract

Although teacher forcing has become the main training paradigm for neural machine translation, it usually makes predictions only conditioned on past information, and hence lacks global planning for the future. To address this problem, we introduce another decoder, called seer decoder, into the encoder-decoder framework during training, which involves future information in target predictions. Meanwhile, we force the conventional decoder to simulate the behaviors of the seer decoder via knowledge distillation. In this way, at test the conventional decoder can perform like the seer decoder without the attendance of it. Experiment results on the Chinese-English, English-German and English-Romanian translation tasks show our method can outperform competitive baselines significantly and achieves greater improvements on the bigger data sets. Besides, the experiments also prove knowledge distillation the best way to transfer knowledge from the seer decoder to the conventional decoder compared to adversarial learning and L2 regularization., Comment: Accepted by ACL-IJCNLP 2021 main conference

30. Growth of Vertical ZnO Nanorods from Patterned Films via Decomposition of Zinc Acetate by Focused Ion Beam: Implication for UV Detection.

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorod arrays have a wide range of applications. Controlling the position of the seed layers (ZnO films) and the nanorod morphology plays an essential role in the fabrication of the sensors and the fulfilment of specific sensing properties, while the patterning of seed layers and controlling the NR morphology have mostly been studied separately. In this study, a focused ion beam was employed to decompose spin-coated zinc acetate films for the precise positioning of the seed layers. The resulting ZnO films were used to hydrothermally grow vertical ZnO NRs that process a high responsivity of 1.24 × 106 A/W at a bias voltage of 5 V. Moreover, this approach provides the following advantages: (1) the carbon to zinc ratio of the zinc acetate film decreased from 4:1 to 1:18.9 after irradiation, demonstrating the efficient decomposition; (2) a patterned ZnO film can be obtained with a low irradiation dose of 1000 μC/cm2; and (3) the seed layer can be utilized directly for vertical nanorod growth without annealing. The morphology of NRs is characterized, and the nanorods grown on seed layers under different treatment conditions had different X-ray diffraction (XRD) peak patterns. Furthermore, the UV–vis absorption spectra of the nanorods were measured. Finally, we examined the rapid patterning of the ZnO thin films. We propose a simple and efficient approach for the decomposition of zinc acetate into patterned ZnO; this provides an integrated solution for ZnO film positioning and the vertical growth of ZnO NRs, which could also offer an approach and inspiration for ultraviolet (UV) detection and ideas for the localized growth of other ZnO nanomaterials. 33. Skin-Attachable and Stretchable Patch Antenna with Fractal Design for Remote On-Body Motion Sensing

Abstract

This article describes the implementation of a wireless human motion detection with interference resistance to untargeted deformations based on a stretchable patch antenna with fractal design. By rationally incorporating the Hilbert fractal pattern in the conductive patch and ground plane, the patch antenna shows a mechanical stretchability of ∼40% and a maximum gain of 2.95 dB at 2.5 GHz. Furthermore, the influence of the fractal order on the mechanical stretchability and radiation properties of the stretchable patch antenna is discussed. The resonant frequency of the stretchable fractal antenna demonstrates highly selective sensitivity to different deformations; i.e., it remains almost unchanged with bending deformations and is linearly dependent on the tensile strain. Remote detection of joint motions is experimentally verified by a wireless on-body strain sensor based on the fractal design-based stretchable microstrip antenna.

Abstract

Conductive polymer composites (CPCs) are vital and indispensable for the emerging field of soft electronics. In this work, a new strategy for using carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/carbon nanofibers (CNFs) and liquid metal droplets as multiphase hybrid fillers for CPCs is presented. We found that CPCs with multiphase hybrid conductive fillers had advantages in electromechanical properties over those with single solid-phase conductive fillers. CNTs/CNFs can easily form conductive paths in the polymer due to their excellent electrical conductivity with large aspect ratio. Self-repair of conductive networks was realized since the exposed Galinstan under strains could bridge the gap between CNTs/CNFs to form new conductive pathways. In addition, the influences of the size and content of conductive fillers on the electromechanical properties of CPCs were investigated. We found CPCs with liquid metals can be served as a flexible strain sensor under mild strain, while as a conductor under large strain due to the robust stability of resistance, which has not been reported yet in the literature. Abstract

Owning to the fast development of projection technologies, the large‐scale projection has great potential application for various viewing circumstances in open spaces. This paper reports a novel type of optical imaging film (G2‐HK‐FP) which comprised of a combination of micro‐lens arrays of different sizes and an ambient light rejection design. This film exhibited comparable displaying performance with silver screen film in the dark environment, and superior performance in the ambient light condition in the aspects of relative contrast, color gamut and ambient light rejection efficiency.
