Abstract

A solar electric vehicle (SEV) is an electric vehicle (EV) with onboard photovoltaic cells charging a set of batteries for extended driving range. This study aimed to improve the energy management system of a SEV, called YILDIZ, using a fuzzy logic control system (FLC). A MATLAB based simulation model of three basic components of a solar car: solar cell modules, batteries and motor drive system was performed. An original FLC was developed. For proving its applicability, the performances of the SEV were tested by simulation, in accordance with the standard test drive cycle ECE-15. The characteristics obtained with the original Proportional Integral Fuzzy Logic Control (PI-FLC) were compared with those obtained with a classical Proportional Integral (PI) controller. Using the designed model, we calculated the range of YILDIZ with and without PV feeding which gave us an opportunity to study and compare both SEV and EV models on real race-track situation. Then the optimum speed, at any time, which enabled the vehicle to reach a chosen destination as quickly as possible, while fully using the available energy, was calculated. Proposed solutions tested on YILDIZ. Results of simulations were compared with YILDIZ run on the Formula-G race track in Izmit, Turkey.

Abstract

Background/purpose: In order to prevent reinfection of the pulp canal space and dressing for regenerative purpose, the coronal seal should have a perfect marginal adaptation. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine are among the most popular sealing materials. These are commonly used in combination with antibiotic medicaments, to ensure disinfection. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of 3 different medicaments on the marginal adaptation of MTA and Biodentine to the dentin. Materials and methods: Teeth were divided into 4 groups (n = 20) that were treated with the following medicaments; triple antibiotic paste (TAP), double antibiotic paste (DAP), a calcium hydroxide (CH) and a control group. The specimens were then assigned into two subgroups (n = 10), which received a coronal barrier of MTA or Biodentine. The specimens were scanned using an ex vivo micro-CT scanner. The data were statistically analysed using one-way ANOVA and the unpaired Student's t-test (P < 0.05). Results: Percentage volume of external voids in the MTA group was as follows: DAP > TAP > Control > CH. In the Biodentine group, the percentage of voids was determined in the following order: TAP ≥ DAP > CH > Control. Significantly lower percentage of voids was observed in the CH-medicated specimens in the MTA group when compared to all test groups (P = 0.04). Conclusion: The application of CH as an intracanal medicament reduced the void occurrence between the ProRoot MTA and root dentin. However, TAP and or DAP decreased the marginal adaptation in both ProRoot MTA and Biodentine.

Abstract

The rapid development of intelligent transportation systems in smart cities offers great opportunities to improve the performance of energy management strategies (EMSs) for connected hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) charging systems. In this study, an electric vehicle charging station integrating solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and a based on utility grid is designed for many scenarios. In the proposed system, the PV is the primary energy source with the battery for storing excessive energy to deliver the lowest possible electricity cost with the grid-tied to ensure power supply continuity. An efficient design of charging solar station with a control strategy is developed for the optimal power management between PV and BESS based on the utility grid. By taking the dynamic charging process of EVs battery, the power management flow in the station is formulated and validated using MATLAB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Vogt Koyanagi Harada (VKH) Syndrome is a rarely-seen multi-systemic, autoimmune and inflammatory disease. It observed frequently with neurologic, auditory and skin manifestations and characterized with bilateral, chronic and diffused granulomatous panuveitis. It generally affects women in young-adult period., Case: A 57 year-old female patient applied to a special center one year ago with a complaint of decrease in the sight acuity of the right eye. The right eye was operated on with cataract diagnosis. Uveitis was developed firstly in the right eye and then in the left eye after the operation. Having complaints about uveitis, tinnitus and hear loss, the patient was diagnosed with VKH syndrome. The pains started to be felt in small hand joints and both of the two ankles. The pains were increasing especially in the mornings and during rest. The duration of morning stiffness was two hours in hand and foot joints. The patient had had lumbar pain with mechanic characteristic for five years., Conclusion: Being diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis (RA), our case is presented because VKH syndrome is rarely seen in Turkey, and the joint findings are at the forefront.
