Abstract

The title molecule, C21H30N2O5, is chiral with four stereogenic centres. The crystal is a racemate and consists of enantiomeric pairs with the relative configuration rac-(6S*,7R*,8R*,9S*). The ethyl fragment of the ethoxycarbonyl group at position 6 is disordered in a 0.46 (3):0.54 (3) ratio. The crystal structure features intermolecular N—H...O. Intramolecular O—H...N and N—H...O hydrogen bonds also occur.

Abstract

Статья посвящена изучению английских заимствований в лексическом составе двух разноструктурных языков ― немецкого и азербайджанского. Рассмотрены вопросы проникновения английских заимствований в языки в процессе исторического развития и непосредственного контакта. В работе приводятся разные дефиниции понятия заимствования в интерпретации лингвистов как в современном языкознании, так и в германистике, и в азербайджанском языкознании. Указывается, что современные глобальные информационные технологии практически полностью базируются на английском языке. Использованы описательный и сравнительный методы исследования. Выявлено, что тема «англицизмов» является пристальным объектом исследования в академических и общественных кругах на протяжении последних нескольких десятилетий и рассматривается с самых разных точек зрения. В то время как одни лингвисты видят только отрицательные стороны англицизмов, другие пытаются объективно и научно исследовать «волну англицизмов» и представить ее в перспективе, сравнивая с прошлыми фазами влияния иностранного языка. В результате анализа состояния проблемы заимствований в лингвистике, а конкретно, в азербайджанском и немецком языках, можно прийти к такому глобальному заключению, что ни oдин функционирующий язык не остается неизменным c тeчeниeм вpeмeни. Словарный состав любого языка в результате обогащения его путем заимствования, находится в перманентном движении и изменении. А непрерывное развитие языка является одним из главных и основных условий существования любой языковой системы.

Abstract

Background: The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Common Data Elements (CDEs) have been generated to standardize and define terms used by the scientific community. The widespread use of these CDEs promotes harmonized data collection in clinical research. The aim of the NINDS Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms (UIA) and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH), and Subject Characteristics working group (WG) was to identify, define, and classify CDEs describing the characteristics of patients diagnosed with an UIA and SAH. Thus, “Participant/Subject characteristics” is a set of factors defining a population of selected individuals and allowing comparisons with a reference population and overtime. Methods: Based on standard terms defined by the United States’ Census Bureau, CDEs previously defined by several (Stroke, Epilepsy and Traumatic Brain Injury) NINDS CDE working groups literature and expert opinion of the WG, the “Participant/Subject characteristics” domain has been defined. Results: A set of 192 CDEs divided in 7 subsections: demographics (8 CDEs), social status (8 CDEs), behavioral status (22 CDEs), family and medical history (144 CDEs), pregnancy and perinatal history (8 CDEs), history data source reliability (3 CDEs), and prior functional status (3 CDEs) was defined. SAH is characterized by 6 core elements, all classified in the “Participant/Subject characteristics” domain. Four exploratory elements out of the 39 for SAH overall are in the “Participant/Subject characteristics” domain, and all remaining 182 CDEs in the “Participant/Subject characteristics” domain are classified as Supplemental-Highly Recommended elements. Conclusions: These CDEs would allow the development of best practice guidelines to standardize the assessment and reporting of observations concerning UIA and SAH.

Abstract

Socio-political terms exist in all world languages and are directly related to the socio-political structure of each country. The words related to statehood, religion and political system were mentioned in sources associated with the ancient period of Persian and Azerbaijani languages. In the article, among such sources, "The Book of Dede-Gorgud", Orkhon-Yenisei" on Turkic languages, and the samples selected from the work "Shahnameh" on Persian are analyzed by the historical-comparative method. When studying terms related to religion, it should be investigated in more detail whether these terms correctly reflect events in the socio-political life of the country they belong to, as they are subject to purposeful interventions in several cases. Considering Manichaean, Islam, Sufism and other religious directions, which are thought to be related to Zoroastrianism and Zoroastrianism in Iran, this picture is further complicated. In the article, medieval Persian dictionaries were also reviewed among the sources related to the Middle Ages. It was noted that words related to almost all areas of social life are included in them. The social and political situation after the Iranian Islamic Revolution and the terms that were created in connection with this situation is considered in the history of Iran. The article also contains information about using borrowed words in both languages' social and political fields. Then the place of the terms in the form of abbreviations in the speech was analyzed. In the article, the data gives grounds to say that as a result of any historical event, the most profitable sphere is linguistics. So, although the changes in other areas cause stagnation and decline in some instances, linguistics is enriched with new words. Political linguistics is also included, and the rising line of political discourse during World War I can serve as an example.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a measurement instrument to investigate science teachers’ perceptions toward writing and the use of writing as learning strategies in their learning environments. Aligned with the focus of the study, a Likert-type survey was developed through the previously developed international scale adaptation and literature review process. Using quantitative methodology and descriptive research method, the scale was implemented to 131 science teachers working at public schools in Erzurum, Turkey during 2011- 2012 school year. The data was analyzed through descriptive statistics for each item in the survey. The findings of the study revealed that science teachers perceive writing as a learning tool. Indeed, they believe that writing serves as a learning tool both for themselves and for their students. Further results revealed that teachers are aware of the significance of the writing in the development of students’ literacy skills. However, their in-class practices are limited in terms of implementing writing activities as a learning tool. © 2015, Ankara University. All rights reserved.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To identify the CCM3 gene in a population of 61 families with a positive family history of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM), 8 of which had suggestive linkage to the CCM3 locus. METHODS: We searched for mutations within the CCM3 interval using a high-throughput screening technique, temperature-gradient capillary electrophoresis. Mutations detected by this device were subsequently sequenced, and the results were analyzed. RESULTS: A recent study by Bergametti et al. established Programmed Cell Death 10 (PDCD10) as the gene responsible for CCM3. We hereby confirm PDCD10 as the CCM3 gene by reporting four novel mutations in 61 CCM families. Two of these mutations were identical and produced a stop codon in exon 7. Another two resulted in frameshift mutations in exon 6, although the mutations occurred at different points along the exon. The last mutation caused a frameshift in exon 9. Of note, mutations in these families completely cosegregated with the trait. Three of the five families had prior linkage data suggestive of the CCM3 locus, whereas the remaining two were identified in index patients with a positive family history but no linkage data. CONCLUSION: Our data establish PDCD10 as the gene responsible for CCM in families linking to the CCM3 locus. The discovery of the third gene involved in inherited forms of CCM, after KRIT1 and Malcavernin, is an important step toward dissecting the molecular pathophysiology of this disease.

Abstract

Background and Purpose - Pathogenesis of cerebral venous malformation (CVM) is unknown. Because of coexistence of CVM and cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM), some studies have suggested that these 2 entities share a common origin and pathogenetic mechanism. Methods - We have identified and ascertained over 200 families with CCM. Among these, 1 unique family was found to have members affected by both disorders. We have performed mutational analysis in all 3 CCM genes, KRIT1, Malcavernin, and PDCD10, to identify the causative gene in the family. Results - Mutational analysis revealed a frameshift mutation affecting exon 19 of the CCM1 gene (KRIT1) in members with CCM, whereas no such mutation was observed in the member with CVM. Conclusions - These findings support the hypothesis that CVM and CCM are 2 distinct entities with different pathogenetic mechanisms. This data further supports the hypothesis that CVM has a distinct biology and clinical behavior when compared to CCM. CVM is a benign developmental anomaly and should be managed separately from CCM. © 2005 American Heart Association, Inc.

Abstract

This study presents an investigation of the use of the natural mineral of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to produce analcime zeolite of potential practical importance. The influence of temperature and crystallization time, the concentration of alkaline solution and mineralizer on the process of synthesis of analcime has been evaluated. The optimal conditions established for the synthesis of pure analcime with a 100% degree of crystallinity are as follows: temperature of 180°C, alkaline and mineralizer solution of 10-15% KOH and 5-10% KCl and processing time of 50 hours. It has been shown that the presence of the KCl mineralizer promotes the production of pure analcime with a 100% crystallinity, and the natural mineral of Nakhchivan represents a good source for the synthesis process.

Abstract

Background and Purpose—This review discusses recent research on the genetic, molecular, cellular, and developmental mechanisms underlying the etiology of vascular malformations of the brain (VMBs), including cerebral cavernous malformation, sporadic brain arteriovenous malformation, and the arteriovenous malformations of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.Summary of Review—The identification of gene mutations and genetic risk factors associated with cerebral cavernous malformation, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, and sporadic arteriovenous malformation has enabled the development of animal models for these diseases and provided new insights into their etiology. All of the genes associated with VMBs to date have known or plausible roles in angiogenesis and vascular remodeling. Recent work suggests that the angiogenic process most severely disrupted by VMB gene mutation is that of vascular stabilization, the process whereby vascular endothelial cells form capillary tubes, strengthen their intercellular junctions, and recruit smooth muscle cells to the vessel wall. In addition, there is now good evidence that in some cases, cerebral cavernous malformation lesion formation involves a genetic 2-hit mechanism in which a germline mutation in one copy of a cerebral cavernous malformation gene is followed by a somatic mutation in the other copy. There is also increasing evidence that environmental second hits can produce lesions when there is a mutation to a single allele of a VMB gene.Conclusions—Recent findings begin to explain how mutations in VMB genes render vessels vulnerable to rupture when challenged with other inauspicious genetic or environmental factors and have suggested candidate therapeutics. Understanding of the cellular mechanisms of VMB formation and progression in humans has lagged behind that in animal models. New knowledge of lesion biology will spur new translational work. Several well-established clinical and genetic database efforts are already in place, and further progress will be facilitated by collaborative expansion and standardization of these.

Abstract

Gismondine, laumontite and levyne type zeolites have been synthesized based on the natural minerals of Nakhchivan and the optimal crystallization conditions have been established. The initial components and the reaction products have been examined by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and elemental analyses. It was found that changes in the temperature, alkalinity, ratio of starting components and time of processing of the reaction have different effects on the rate of formation of products, on their degree of crystallinity and on the phase purity of the obtained zeolite.

Abstract

After the signing of the contract of the century in 1994, the itineraries for new routes to transport the energy resources of Azerbaijan, a country without direct access to the ocean, has been the subject of fierce debate against the backdrop of the geopolitical interests of the world’s major powers. While the construction of the Baku-Batumi oil pipeline in the early 20th century was a challenge of a technological nature, this time the main “gamble” was geopolitical. The article therefore considers choosing of alternatives of true transport routes and an impact of the USA thereupon. The BTC project is the first comprehensive project aimed at changing the status quo in the region; the latter being the only alternative route to export oil out of the region, the Russian route to Novorossiysk. Since 1993, Russia, which is still the most notable power in Central Asia and Caucasus, did its utmost to keep the region under its uncontested influence by utilizing every possible political, economic and military instrument within the framework of its popular “Near Abroad” doctrine. For the first time, Russia’s monopoly over oil export routes from the Caspian region has been broken. This article also analyses the course of events that led to the realization of the BTC pipeline where an American policy played an important role.
