Bu çalışma, sultan (Agapornis roseicollis) ve sevda (Psephotellus pulcherrimus) papağanlarının neurocranium’larının morfolojik özelliklerinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Sekiz adet sultan papağanı ve beş adet sevda papağanı kullanıldı. Kuşların kemikleri masere edildi ve incelenmeye hazır hale getirildi. Her iki türde de neurocranium’un os occipitale, os spheneoidale, ossa parietale, ossa frontale ve ossa temporaleden oluştuğu tespit edildi. Os occipitale’nin foramen magnum’un etrafında üç bölümden oluştuğu gözlendi. Foramen magnum iki türde de kafatasının tabanında, ventrale dönük olduğu belirlendi. Os interparietale iki türde de görülmedi. Os frontale ‘nin iki papağan türünde de kafatasının dorsal duvarını oluşturduğu gözlendi. Sultan papağanının pars frontalis’inin ön tarafındaki çukur bölgenin ayırt edici bir özellik olduğu tespit edildi. This study was carried out to investigate the morphological characteristics of the neurocranium of cockatiel (Agapornis roseicollis) and lovebird (Psephotellus pulcherrimus). the eight cockatiel and five lovebird were used. the bones of the birds were macerated and made ready for examination. in both birds, it was found that the neurocranium was composed of os occipitale, os spheneoidale, ossa parietale, ossa frontale and ossa temporale. It was observed that os occipitale consisted of three sections around the foramen magnum. Foramen magnum was found to be at the base of the skull in two species. Os interparietale was not seen in either species. It was observed that os frontale formed the dorsal wall of the skull in two parrot species. the pit area at the front of the pars frontalis of the cockatiel was found to be a distinctive feature.
