1. Implementation of Gamification and Bloom's Digital Taxonomy-Based Assessment: A Scale Development Study with Mixed-Methods Sequential Exploratory Design

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to construct a scale and identify the factors that might affect the implementation of gamification and Bloom's Digital Taxonomy-based assessment of students' learning, guided by the Goal-Setting Theory. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study used a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design where data were collected qualitatively via interviews (n = 18) and field notes. Quantitative analysis was then applied via questionnaires (n = 96). Findings: Four major themes emerged following thematic analysis of the observation notes and interview data: learning engagements; understandable learning goals; friendly competitions; and interactive learning feedback. A scale consisting of 32 items was developed based on the qualitative data. The quantitative data were then collected to evaluate the scale's factor structure using maximum likelihood exploratory factor analysis with Promax factor rotation. The final version of the scale had 29 items. The authors verified the alpha coefficients for each element and the entire hierarchy, ranging from 0.94 to 0.98 for the factors. The total scale was determined to be 0.96, and the Item Content Validity Index was considered valid. Originality/Value: The scale developed in this study is expected to inform future research and guide educators who wish to incorporate contemporary digital pedagogies in a different context. This study could also be beneficial to researchers who aspire to perform research on Goal-Setting Theory in the educational context.

Abstract

The clean water distribution system is generally a piping network consisting of a system of pipes, pumps, reservoirs and other equipment. With the existing treatment system and piping network system, the management in this case KPSPAMS Kuro Sejahtera 1 is expected to be able to meet the clean water needs of the community in Kuro Village, Pampangan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the analysis of the clean water network for the village. It is hoped that the determination of the right analysis will serve the community well in terms of clean water needs for the development stage in Kuro Village, simulate the clean water distribution pipe network in Kuro Village using EPANET 2.0 software, and compare the results of the simulation of the clean water distribution pipe network using EPANET software. 2.0 with the results of the distribution pipeline system planning for the current condition. From the calculation results, it is found that the average daily requirement of 0.89 L/second is sufficient for the water production of KPSPAMS Kuro Sejahtera 1 which produces water of 1.9 L/second. Based on the simulation results, the pressure value for the peak hour of water usage is at 07.00 WIB, and the highest pressure is 11.90m while the lowest pressure is 0.11m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In order to reduce the incidence of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health has thoroughly vaccinated including residents around Jenderal Achmad Yani University, but they don’t know the number of antibodies formed after the COVID-19 vaccination. This activity aims to provide information to residents around UNJANI regarding the number of specific antibodies that their bodies have successfully formed after the COVID-19 vaccination. A total of 50 local residents who have received the COVID-19 vaccination were invited to take part in this activity. Specific antibodies in the participants' blood were examined using the Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. The results that have been validated by doctors are informed to the participants. Through laboratory examination, it was found that 66% of participants succeeded in forming specific antibodies above 7 U/ml and 34% of participants below 7 U/ml. The target of this activity has been achieved, residents around UNJANI can find out the number of specific antibodies they have successfully formed after the COVID-19 vaccination., Dalam rangka menekan angka kejadian COVID-19 Kementerian Kesehatan melakukan vaksinasi secara menyeluruh termasuk pada penduduk sekitar Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (UNJANI), namun mereka belum mengetahui jumlah antibodi yang terbentuk paska vaksinasi COVID-19. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi kepada penduduk sekitar UNJANI mengenai jumlah antibodi spesifik yang berhasil dibentuk tubuhnya paska vaksinasi COVID-19. Sebanyak 50 orang penduduk sekitar yang telah mendapatkan vaksinasi COVID-19 diundang untuk mengikuti kegiatan ini. Antibodi spesifik dalam darah peserta diperiksa menggunakan metode Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Hasil yang sudah divalidasi dokter diinformasikan kepada para peserta. Melalui pemeriksaan laboratorium diketahui terdapat 66% peserta yang berhasil membentuk antibodi spesifik diatas 7 U/ml dan 34% peserta dibawah 7 U/ml. Target dari kegiatan ini sudah tercapai yaitu penduduk di sekitar UNJANI dapat mengetahui jumlah antibodi spesifik yang berhasil mereka bentuk paska vaksinasi COVID-19.

Abstract

The treatment of produced water from oil and gas fields before reinjection into reservoirs is an effort to reduce oil & grease include heavy metals that harmful to water bodies. In the current work, the modified kapok fiber (Ceiba Pentandra. L) surface using hot water for oil & grease removal was investigating on a laboratory scale. The present work aims to evaluate the modified kapok fibres surface (MKFS) using hot water as an adsorbent and commercial ceramic membrane in removal some contaminants of produced water, especially for barium ion. Some parameters of produced water determined were chemical oxygen demand (COD), total dissolved solids (TDS), oil & grease, and barium ion concentration. The effect of hot water treatment on the MKFS was evaluating using SEM-EDX. Results show that MKFS using hot water at 85 °C effectively removed 99.4% oil & grease, 12.2% TDS, 76.6% COD, and 38.7% barium from produced water. Result also shown that in the proposed method, the total removal of COD, TDS, oil & grease, and barium ions is 98.3%, 73.6%, 73.2%, and 76.4%, respectively. 11. The application of backpropagation neural network method to estimate the sediment loads

Abstract

Nearly all formulations of conventional sediment load estimation method were developed based on a review of laboratory data or data field. This approach is generally limited by local so it is only suitable for a particular river typology. From previous studies, the amount of sediment load tends to be non-linear with respect to the hydraulic parameters and parameter that accompanies sediment. The dominant parameter is turbulence, whereas turbulence flow velocity vector direction of x, y and z. They were affected by water bodies in 3D morphology of the cross section of the vertical and horizontal. This study is conducted to address the non-linear nature of the hydraulic parameter data and sediment parameter against sediment load data by applying the artificial neural network (ANN) method. The method used is the backpropagation neural network (BPNN) schema. This scheme used for projecting the sediment load from the hydraulic parameter data and sediment parameters that used in the conventional estimation of sediment load. The results showed that the BPNN model performs reasonably well on the conventional calculation, indicated by the stability of correlation coefficient (R) and the mean square error (MSE).

Abstract

Dimanche 26 décembre 2004. La terre tremble au large des côtes de Sumatra. C’est l’un des plus puissants séismes jamais enregistrés (magnitude 9.3). S’en suit un tsunami cataclysmique, le plus meurtrier de l’histoire avec près de 230 000 victimes. Les vagues ont ravagé les côtes indonésiennes proches, avant de se propager vers la Thaïlande, le Sri Lanka, l’Inde puis les côtes africaines. La province d’Aceh, au nord-ouest de Sumatra, est de loin la plus touchée. La moitié de la ville de Banda Aceh est rasée par des vagues de plus de 15 m de haut, l’eau ayant même atteint une hauteur de 50 m sur les falaises de la côte ouest de Lhok Nga. De nombreux villages sont rayés de la carte. Durant près de deux ans (2005-2006), les scientifiques du programme de recherche « Tsunarisque » se sont relayés sur le terrain pour essayer de décrypter, reconstituer le tsunami dans ses moindres détails, afin de tirer les enseignements d’une catastrophe hors norme et de proposer des stratégies de prévention plus efficaces. Abstract

We established an extensive database of tsunami field evidence in order to facilitate various numerical models of the 26 December 2004 tsunami in the Banda Aceh district of Sumatra, Indonesia. Inputs provided by 12 weeks of efforts during seven field trips include field measurements of runup, tsunami heights, flow depths, flow directions, and events’ chronology. We deliver detailed inundation maps of the western and northern coasts of Banda Aceh.About ten waves reached the coast. The maximum tsunami height reached 35 m during the third wave on flat areas and the maximum runup was 51 m measured on hill slope. This value is the highest runup ever measured in human history for a co-seismic tsunami event. The main hydrologic characteristic of the 26 December 2004 tsunami is the break of the main wave up to 3 km inland from the shoreline. The data collected, such as the numerous warning signs, could help further prevention actions.
