Guided Discovery learning is an approach that actively engages students by allowing them to discover and investigate concepts independently. However, the development of guided discovery integrated with technology, especially on Cartesian coordinates, is still limited and has not been widely explored. likeTherefore, this study explores the ıntegrating guided discovery approach in e-module for cartesian coordinates topıc of junior high school, involving one teacher and 32 students as research subjects. Qualitative data analysis was conducted through documentation and interviews, which were then organized into data reduction, display, and verification steps. The results indicate that the E-Guided Discovery Module effectively enhances students' interest and understanding of mathematical concepts, although several areas require technical and pedagogical improvements. Recommendations for further development include enhancing the user interface, adding interactive features, and developing additional guidance. The E-Guided Discovery Module is an effective tool for improving students' mathematics learning, with the teacher's role being crucial in providing necessary guidance and support.

Problem-solving skills empower students to deal with challenges efficiently, think critically, and craft effective solutions. This translates to their academic success and fosters their adaptability, resilience, and critical thinking, all required to thrive in the ever-changing professional world. This study investigates the effectiveness of guided discovery and scaffolding strategies in enhancing problem-solving skills among students in Physics courses in Saudi technical and vocational colleges. Those pedagogical strategies aim to create higher-order thinking skills required for problem-solving within technical and science education, as well as in the professional life that the students must live after leaving college. Correspondingly, we designed a quasi-experiment with a pre- and post-intervention assessment involving 104 students enrolled in a Physics course within a technical diploma program. The results indicated a significant difference in students' problem-solving skills between those instructed in the traditional teaching condition and those who received guided discovery and scaffolding strategies as major instructional components. The findings suggest that guided discovery and scaffolding improve students' problem-solving skills and promote their engagement and motivation to develop effective solutions. This study contributes to developing existing literature on successful teaching strategies in technical and science education. It also provides practical implications for educators seeking to establish problem-solving competencies among students.

Embedding higher-order thinking within science education, particularly in teaching physics, can equip students to learn physics at a deeper level and to become active learners who can analyze and solve problems independently. The present research aimed to assess the effectiveness of scaffolding strategies along with a guided discovery approach on students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) at technical colleges in Saudi Arabia. The study employed a quasi-experimental design to involve 104 students enrolled in the physics 101 course in two groups: an experimental group (EG) (n = 54), which experienced scaffolding strategies and guided discovery approach during the instruction, and a control group (CG) (n = 54), which received the instruction through conventional teaching methods. All participants took a pre- and post-test consisting of a HOTS test. Data analysis using inferential statistics revealed significant differences in the test scores between CG and EG. The results indicated that students in the EG performed better on the HOTS test in comparison to the students in the CG. Based on these results, it is concluded that the scaffolding strategies and guided discovery have a positive effect on students' HOTS. This research aims at developing an Ethnoliteracy-based guided discovery learning model in writing imaginary stories at elementary schools. It used the research and development (R&D) method with 4D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) model. Teachers and students in 5th-grade elementary schools served as the subjects of this research. The instruments that this research used included observation, interviews, and documentation with the developed steps of guided discovery learning model consisting of stimulus, problem identification, data collection, data processing, publication, and reflection. The data in this research were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The research found that based on expert assessment, the feasibility of this learning model was scored 87.5% by the linguist and 93.3% by the culture expert. Based on the development trial result, the prepared learning planning was classified as highly practical at 86.7% and practical at 13.3%. In practice, students managed to write an imaginary story and scored an average of 80.28. This means that the Ethnoliteracy-based guided discovery learning model in writing imaginary stories was feasible for use in elementary school students.

Musical Futures (MF) is an internationally recognised approach to music teaching aimed at developing high levels of student engagement through practical music making. Set up in the UK in 2003 Musical Futures is typical of approaches to education aimed at increasing levels of student autonomy through a strong emphasis on student-led discovery learning. A study was undertaken in 2020 to 2021 in New Zealand which investigated how a small number of teachers understand and utilise Musical Futures as an approach for classroom music teaching. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with teachers in New Zealand and leaders of the Musical Futures International team in Australia who offer training in New Zealand. Green's original conceptualisation of informal learning was used as the main theoretical bench-mark against which teacher practices were compared and the findings reveal a shift away from the original idea of a discovery approach into the deep end, to more systemised learning. This study aims to determine students’ science process skills after using the guided discovery model assisted by the virtual PhET lab on vibration and wave materials and the effectiveness of applying the guided discovery learning model assisted by the virtual PhET lab. This research was conducted at a junior high school, SMPN 2 Siak. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a posttest-only control group design. The sample of this study is the experimental class and the control class. Each class has 33 students. The research data was obtained by using a science process skill test instrument. The results showed that the average process skills of the experimental class = 76.76 and the control class = 57.23. The results of the t-test using SPSS software were obtained with (sig) 0.000 < 0.05 . It was concluded that the guided discovery learning model assisted by the virtual lab PhET was more effectively used to improve students’ process skills.

Minimal guidance or maximal independence? How can teachers achieve that complex balance when teaching mathematics? This pre-and post-test quasi-experimental research study explored the above questions in Grade 10 Financial Mathematics following guided discovery and mathematical modelling frameworks. Fifty-four (54) Grade 10 students at a Government High School in Johannesburg, South Africa, participated in the study. One group of students was taught following guided discovery and modelling learning principles and another group was taught following direct instruction. Students mean scores were compared at the end of the intervention. The main findings revealed that although the overall performance in the post-test was similar in both groups, there was a significant difference in understanding the concept of compound interest in the guided discovery learning group. The research highlights the promise of guided discovery learning and modelling approach over direct instruction, especially on supporting the understanding of difficult concepts in financial mathematics.

This study aims to obtain a description of the application of the guided discovery learning model to improve student learning outcomes in the matter of dividing fractions in the VA class of SDN 5 Palu. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which refers to the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, namely (1) planning, (2) implementing actions, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The subjects in this study were all students of VA class at SDN 5 Palu for the 2022/2023 school year with a total of 24 students consisting of 14 female students and 10 male students. The type of data in this study is qualitative data supplemented by quantitative data. Qualitative data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, and field notes. The quantitative data collection technique in this study was a written test. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results of the study show that learning with the guided discovery learning model could increase students’ learning outcomes of VA Class of SDN 5 Palu on the matter of division of fractions. This is evidenced by the increase in student learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II. The learning outcomes of the first cycle were obtained at 62.5%, and the second cycle was obtained at 83.33%. The results of the analysis of the observation sheet of teacher and student activities in cycle 1 were in the sufficient category. In cycle 2, the teacher and student activity observation sheet increased because the teacher activity observation sheet was in the very good category and the student activity observation sheet was in the good category, so that the success indicators of the action have been achieved.

Socratic questioning is used to enhance the process of guided discovery in psychotherapy sessions. Objective: Socratic questioning and guided discovery are defined, and assorted clinical examples are provided. Methods: The limited research on the impact of Socratic questioning is reviewed and integrated with 30 + years of clinical experience. Results: The scant research suggests that Socratic questioning significantly reduces depression from one session to the next, particularly for patients with a pessimistic cognitive bias, but there is no research on patient improvements at the end of psychotherapy. Conclusion: Socratic questions and guided discovery can facilitate sensitivity to issues related to diversity and can be useful in psychotherapy training. Adversity Qoutient (AQ) is a person's intelligence in dealing with difficulties or problems. Each student has a different AQ which has implications for the process of solving different mathematical problems. This study aims to analyze mathematical problem solving ability in terms of adversity quotient through guided inquiry assisted by GeoGebra. This research was conducted during one semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The population in the study were all students of grade XI of the Shipping Vocational School in the Technika Expertise Program. The research sample selected one class as an experimental class totaling 45 students and one class as a control class totaling 34 students. The data sources in this study are problem solving ability test answer sheets, AQ questionnaires and interviews. The results of the study showed that students' mathematical problem solving ability through guided inquiry learning assisted by GeoGebra achieved learning completeness with several categories, including: quitters category students in solving problems are able to understand the problem by writing what is known and what is asked and explaining the problem in their own sentences but sometimes these students are still in doubt in answering; camper category students are able to understand the information contained in each item, able to state the problem using their own language, able to write and explain the problem solving plan coherently, able to plan problem solving properly and correctly, but some students with this category are less careful and rarely double-check how they solve problems according to what is expected in the problem and the steps of mathematical problem solving skills; Students with the climber category are able to plan problems well, able to write and explain problem solving plans coherently and correctly and include formulas that are relevant to the plans written down, carry out calculations in accordance with the plans that have been made so that the answers obtained are right in accordance with the objectives in the problem, able to write and explain other ways to solve the problems contained in the problem. Preventive water competences that children should learn to be safe in the water have been discussed and revised. Methodology to promote these wáter competences has not had the same amount of examination and discussion so far. From an ecological perspective, we share some key points derived from the objectives of the research-into-action program called "The development of preventive water competences in 5th and 6th grade school students" as conducted in Junior Lifeguard programs in Uruguay. It involved six groups of 10 to 12-yearold Estate School students studied in two cycles. The whole process conveyed how our methodology changed from experiences and assessment results. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar dan ada tidaknya perbedaan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas X IPA 1 dan X IPA 2 pada materi hukum-hukum dasar kimia jika menggunakan model pembelajaran yang berbeda pada tiap kelas yaitu model pembelajaran Free Discovery dan Guided Discovery. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan komparatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas X IPA 1 dan X IPA 2,Teknik pengumpulan data yakni observasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yakni analisis deskriptif dan statistik, penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Rote Timur. Hasil analisis diperoleh: Hasil belajar peserta didik kelas X IPA 1 dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Free Discovery tuntas dengan nilai akhir yang diperoleh yaitu 85,78, hasil belajar peserta didik kelas X IPA 2 dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery tuntas dengan nilai akhir yang diperoleh yaitu 88,18, tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Free Discovery dan Guided Discovery pada materi hukum-hukum dasar kimia kelas X IPA dengan nilai thitung< ttabel (-3,109 < 2,024) atau sig > 0,05 (0,667 > 0,05).

The research highlights the promise offered by the former teaching approaches over explicit instruction in supporting the understanding of difficult concepts to the students. Our findings led us to propose that foundation skills such as, plotting coordinate points, reading, and interpreting graphs, substituting into, and using formulas, and factorizing algebraic expressions should be thoroughly covered at the lower high school to prepare students to cope with more challenging related concepts at the higher level. In the Hungarian "Guided Discovery" approach to teaching mathematics, teachers' planning work plays a crucial role. Teachers following the approach develop teaching trajectories based on "series of problems". This work includes the choice, creation, transformation, organization and networking of problems with regard to various teaching objectives. However, most of this planning work remains implicit; the structure and rationale of the teaching trajectories are often inaccessible for an external observer (including, for example, student teachers). An ongoing project based on teacher–researcher collaboration aims to reveal the hidden characteristics and principles of teachers' work with series of problems through the creation of innovative resources for teachers. In this paper, we present the design of this collaborative work, a process we designate "reverse engineering", and analyse the development process of resources, focusing particularly on the emergence of new vocabulary and representation tools serving as mediators in the communication between teachers and researchers. The purpose of this study was to produce web-based learning using a hypermedia assisted discovery guided approach for junior high school students. The development model applied in this study is the ASSURE model. The development stage begins with analyzing the characteristics of students, then stating the learning objectives. The next stage is selecting strategies, technology, media and materials to support the achievement of predetermined learning objectives, then utilizing technology, media and materials, ensuring student participation, and the final stage is conducting evaluation and revision. The result of the development is in the form of a learning web whose activities use the guided discovery procedure and the content is presented using the hypermedia principle. Based on the results of observations, students looked excited and they were actively involved during the learning process. Students say that learning becomes more flexible because they can adjust to the time they have. Based on the response analysis, it was found that the average student gave a positive response. So it can be concluded that web-based learning with the guided discovery approach assisted by hypermedia can improve the quality of learning in junior high schools, especially in terms of student participation in learning, enthusiasm and learning flexibility. Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan pembelajaran berbasis web yang menggunakan pendekatan guided discovery berbantuan hypermedia untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Model pengembangan yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah model ASSURE. Tahapan pengembangan dimulai dengan menganalisis karakteristik siswa, kemudian menyatakan tujuan pembelajaran. Tahap selanjutnya yaitu memilih strategi, teknologi, media dan bahan untuk mendukung tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran yang sudah ditentukan sebelumnya, kemudian memanfaatkan teknologi, media dan materi, memastikan partisipasi siswa, dan tahap terakhir melakukan evaluasi dan revisi. Hasil pengembangan berupa web pembelajaran yang aktivitasnya menggunakan prosedur guided discovery dan konten yang disajikan menggunakan prinsip hypermedia. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, siswa terlihat bersemangat dan mereka terlibat aktif selama proses pembelajaran. Siswa mengatakan bahwa belajar menjadi lebih fleksibel karena dapat menyesuaikan dengan waktu yang dimiliki. Berdasarkan analisis tanggapan, didapatkan hasil bahwa rata-rata siswa memberikan tanggapan yang positif. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis web dengan pendekatan guided discovery berbantuan hypermedia mampu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Pertama terutama dalam hal partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran, semangat dan fleksibilitas belajar.

This study aims to develop and produce a mathematics student worksheet based on guided discovery to facilitate the understanding concept and the curiosity of eighth grade students on prism and pyramid material. The type of research is research and development using the Richey and Klein development procedure, which consists of the planning, production, and evaluation. Mathematics student worksheet assessment for material and media experts. Material and media experts fill out the mathematics student worksheet assessment. The research data analysis technique is product quality analysis. According to the evaluation of material experts and media experts, the mathematics student worksheet is very good. Based on the results of the study, it found that the quality of the mathematics student worksheet based on guided discovery was classified as very good with the specification of the average score of the material expert validator assessment of 194.5 from the ideal maximum score of 208 and classified in the very good category with the specification of the average score of the media expert validator assessment of 57 from the ideal maximum score of 72. Based on this, the product of the guided discovery-based math worksheets is declared valid and can use in the learning process.

Many clients benefit from psychotherapy sessions that extend across months or years. However, there is a risk for therapeutic impasse in long-term psychotherapy in which the work can become repetitive or with limited gains over time. The current paper provides five transtheoretical principles to increase the impetus in long-term therapy. The five principles include: planful spontaneity, habitual creativity, pushing the limits of the therapeutic alliance, guided discovery, and specific broad goals. The therapist is encouraged to share responsibility for creative flexibility with the client in each session, including within the therapeutic alliance and the real relationship. The therapist can use a series of questions to promote a process of guided discovery. A clear focus on principles of psychology and goals that reflect maintenance of gains, development of strengths, and promotion of enrichment can ensure that the therapy continues to produce change over the length of the relationship. Socratic questioning is employed in therapeutic interventions when the beliefs that clients express are critically evaluated using reason and logic. In this paper, that critical lens is turned back on the use of Socratic questioning to examine problems in its philosophical grounding. This critique is informed by our historic and cultural understanding of the life of Socrates. The therapeutic value of a 'not knowing' position is observed, and the question of whether this position is genuine or feigned is explored. Socratic questioning and irony are thereby considered in relation to agency and veiled attacks. A problematic move towards stoicism is identified, in which emotional expression might be devalued in the promotion of a passive and indifferent attitude towards life-experiences. It is observed that, as a form of phenomenological enquiry, Socratic questioning enables an attunement to the facticity of the client's life and interpersonal existence. An ironic edge is valued in maintaining emotive understandings which enable the client to exercise agency. A form of Socratic questioning is recommended, in which the client can take a stance in relation to where it is that they find themselves. Helping them to move into possible and preferred futures. In the present paper we would like to share our technology enhanced, interactive and student centric approach applied during our long-lived experience in teaching mathematics and informatics in higher education institutions. Our goal is to develop active-engagement student-centered environment instead of the traditional instructor-centered environment. Background: Invention and mastery learning approaches differ in their foundational educational paradigms, proposed mechanisms of learning, and potential impacts on learning outcomes. They also differ in their resource requirements. We explored the relative effects of 'invent and problem-solve, followed by instruction' (PS-I) learning compared to mastery learning (i.e., standards-based training) on immediate post-test and Preparation for Future Learning (PFL) assessments. PFL assessments measure learners' capacity to use their existing knowledge and strategies to learn about and solve novel problems. Methods: In this non-inferiority trial, pre-clerkship medical students were randomized to either PS-I, Mastery Learning (ML), or instruction then practice (CON) during simulation-based training of infant lumbar puncture (LP). After a 2-week delay, participants returned to learn and complete a PFL assessment of simulated Knee Arthrocentesis. Two independent raters assessed performances with a 5-point global rating scale. Results: Based on our non-inferiority margin, analyses showed that for both the immediate post-test and the PFL assessment, the PS-I condition resulted in non-inferior outcomes relative to the ML condition. Results for the CON condition were mixed with respect to non-inferiority compared to either PS-I or ML. Conclusions: We suggest cautiously that the PS-I approach was not inferior to the ML approach, based on skill acquisition and PFL assessment outcomes. With ML anecdotally and empirically requiring more time, greater faculty involvement, and higher costs, our findings question the preference ML has received relative to other instructional designs, especially in the healthcare simulation community. This research aimed to determine the effect of the Guided Discovery Blended Learning (GDBL) strategy on concept mastery of the human excretory system. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The samples consisted of the eleventh-grade students of Senior High school Jakarta in 2019/2020. Class MIPA-2 was the control class taught using Guided Discovery, and class MIPA-4 were the experimental class taught using GDBL. The learning process had been carried out both online and in the classroom. Research data were collected by integrating essay tests, students' responses to learning strategies, and observation sheets of syntax implementation. The data were descriptively analyzed and tested using ANCOVA. The normality test was performed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov formula, and the homogeneity test was performed using Levene's test. The statistical tests indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous; thus, ANCOVA analysis using SPSS 24 was performed. The data analysis with the ANCOVA test at 0,05 significance level obtained p value = 0.000, which means that H0 was rejected. The research result implied that GDBL affected students' concept mastery of the human excretory system. It cultivated habits to independently rearrange the concept through teachers' guidance, both from sourcebooks and online media. GDBL can be used as an alternative for biology studies.

This development research aims to develop online physics learning tools based on guided discovery models for high school grade X students with momentum and impulse material and test the feasibility of Physics online learning tools through validator assessments (material experts, material experts) and limited trials by students' responses. Physics online learning tools developed in the syllabus, lesson plans, student worksheets, handouts, and learning media. The average score of validation assessment for the syllabus is 4.81, the lesson plan is 4.72, the student worksheet is 4.64, the handout is 4.57, the media is 4.76, and the media material is 4.66. All in categorized as very worthy. In this study, a limited trial was conducted for 27 students divided into three groups. The average score results student on worksheet one is 4.06, worksheet two is 3.98, and worksheet three is 3.87. All in with categories worthy. The average score result of handout one is 4.04, handout two is 3.96, and handout three is 4.01. All in with worthy category. The results obtained from the Physics online learning tool based on guided discovery models are appropriate for online learning on momentum and impulse material for grade X high school students.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana hasil penerapan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperiment dengan desain non equivalent control grup. Dari hasil analisis deskriptif diperoleh dari 22 subjek kelas kontrol, rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah 0,25 dengan nilai terendah -0,66 dan tertinggi 0,69 serta standar deviasi 0,31. Sedangkan dari 24 subjek pada kelas eksperimen, rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalahnya 0,6 dengan peningkatan tertinggi 0,86 dan terendah 0,08 serta standar deviasi 0,24. Selanjutnya berdasarkan analisis inferensial yang dilakukan disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara mahasiswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing dan mahasiswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian penerapan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing lebih baik digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemapuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa khususnya pada matakuliah statistik matematika I. This research aims to see the results of the application of the guided discovery learning model in increasing students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The research method used in this research is Quasi experiment with non equivalent control group design. The descriptive analysis of 22 control class subjects shows the average increase in problem solving ability was 0.25 with the lowest value of -0.66 and the highest was 0.69 and a standard deviation of 0.31. Meanwhile, of the 24 subjects in the experimental class, the average increase in problem solving ability was 0.6 with the highest increase of 0.86 and the lowest 0.08 and a standard deviation of 0.24. Furthermore, based on the inferential analysis conducted, it is concluded that there is a significant difference in the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities between students who are taught using the guided discovery learning model and students who are taught using conventional learning models. Thus the application of the guided discovery learning model is better used to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities, especially in the mathematics statistics I course.

Critical thinking skills are important competencies that need to be developed in chemistry learning. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the guided discovery-based thermochemistry module in developing critical thinking skills based on gender differences. The subject of this research was 76 females and 20 males of class XI Mathematics and Nature Science from three high schools in Ponorogo, Indonesia. This study used one school for each category, namely high, medium, and low. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. The data analysis technique used T-test with SPSS 21 software. The result showed that the average increase in student scores or normality gain score (n-gain) was 0.5050 to 0.6362, which means students' critical thinking skills improved after the implementation of guided discovery-based thermochemistry modules. T-test result in high category schools obtained T count > T table (2.142> 2.032), which showed that there are significant differences between the critical thinking skills of female and male students. Meanwhile, T count and T table in medium category school were 1.353 and 2.034, respectively. T count and T table in low category school respectively 1.106 and 2.068. Analysis of T-test results in medium and low school categories can be written -T table < T count < T table, is means there is no significant differences between the critical thinking skills of female and male students. Thus, guided discovery-based thermochemistry modules are effectively applied to high, medium and low school categories.

Based on the development of education in Indonesia today, teachers still teach in ways that make students memorize lessons. A learning model is needed that can support students to think critically. One of the learning models that can support students to think critically is through guided discovery learning model with argument mapping. This study aims to find out the influence of guided discovery learning models with an argument mapping to develop critical thinking skills. The research method used was quasi experimental and pretest-posttest control group design, the sample of the study consisted of 66 students drawn from 89 Senior High School Jakarta. This sample was divided into two groups to assign the experimental and control group. The experimental group was exposed to guided discovery learning and argument mapping, while the control group with conventional learning. The result of independent sample t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05 experimental group showed that p-value was 0.000. It can be concluded that there is the influence of the guided discovery learning with argument mapping on senior high school students’ critical thinking skills. The result of Normalized gain also show that the experimental group was effective to develop critical thinking skills (N-gain = 0.45). Furthermore, the study found out that N-gain for each indicator of critical thinking skills in the experimental group was higher than the control group. Basic clarification (N-gain = 0.31), bases for decision (N-gain = 0.68), inference (N-gain = 0.19), and advance clarification (N-gain = 1.2) were reported. The Pósa Method is a guided discovery learning method that has been used in Hungarian education in the form of extracurricular activities for "gifted" mathematics students. A four-year experiment implemented the method in three more "average" classrooms. This article reports on the relationship between the Pósa Method and the standardized secondary school leaving mathematics exam (Matura Exam in short) in Hungary. Data consists of students' survey responses, teacher interviews, and exam results from the three Hungarian classrooms who took part in the four-year experiment. We identify aspects of the Pósa Method that can benefit and hinder exam performance. In this paper we examine the role of instructional strategies as constraints within a discovery learning framework for the teaching of open skill team ball games to elementary school-aged children. The cohesive and adaptive integration of constraints (individual, environment, and task) by practitioners of movement and physical activity (instructor, teacher, coach) is proposed as the pathway to exploiting the effectiveness of guided discovery learning. The qualitative analysis of the practical instantiations of this framework by expert teachers is examined with respect to the learning of open skill team invasion games (e.g., basketball, soccer). The primary constraints to action in this learning-teaching developmental framework are coordinated so as to keep the self-organization of skill development (movement pattern and tactics) continually evolving, while preserving the child’s motivation and enjoyment for the expanding repertoire and performance capacity of his/her perceptual-motor skills. In this open skill and elementary school age-related context, generality and specificity are both necessary and complementary in the expression of task, skill and practice influences on motor learning and performance.

In learning mathematics, the teacher provides opportunities for students to carry out activities of finding and investigating patterns and to determine relationships. Activities can be carried out through experiments to find sequences, differences, comparisons, groupings, and so on and provide opportunities for students to find relationships between understanding one another. In fact, the Mathematics learning material on the Characteristics of Flat Shapes which was carried out in class III SDN Sananwetan 2 did not appear to have carried out activities related to investigation and discovery. This can be seen from the learning outcomes obtained by class III students, namely from 25 students who achieved completeness only 7 students or 28%. In this case the teacher must conduct a classroom action research so that students get the expected results. The research was conducted using a learning method, namely Guided Discovery Learning, which is a method where in the teaching and learning process the teacher allows students to find information for themselves without being told or lectured, and the teacher acts as a facilitator.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing dan menguji efektivitasnya pada keterampilan berpikir reflektif matematis dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Tahap pengembangan ini dimulai dari studi pendahuluan, perencanaan, pengembangan produk awal, pengujian tahap awal, revisi produk awal, dan pengujian lapangan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas VII.C dan 30 siswa VII.D di SMP Negeri 24 Bandar Lampung Tahun Akademik 2017/2018. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, tes keterampilan berpikir reflektif matematis, dan angket kemandirian belajar siswa. Hasil tes lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis dan Pembelajaran Kemandirian siswa menggunakan pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing yang dikembangkan lebih tinggi daripada kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematika dan Kemandirian Belajar siswa yang tidak menggunakan pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing yang dikembangkan. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing yang dikembangkan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir reflektif matematis dan Kemandirian Belajar siswa. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa menggunakan pembelajaran Guided Discovery yang dikembangkan dikategorikan tinggi sedangkan peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa dikategorikan sedang. Abstract This study aims to develop a model of guided discovery learning and test its effectiveness on mathematical reflective thinking skills and independence learning of student. This stage of development starts from preliminary studies, planning, initial product development, initial stage testing, initial product revision, and field testing. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class VII.C and 30 students of VII.D in SMP Negeri 24 Bandar Lampung 2017/2018 Academic Year. The research data was obtained through observation, interviews, tests of mathematical reflective thinking skills, and student Independence Learning questionnaires. The results of field tests show that the ability of mathematical reflective thinking and the Independence Learning of students using developed guided discovery learning is higher than the ability of mathematical reflective thinking and student Independence Learning that does not use developed guided discovery learning. Therefore it can be concluded that developed guided discovery learning is effective for improving mathematical reflective thinking skills and student Independence Learning. The increase in the ability of mathematical reflective thinking of students using developed Guided Discovery learning is categorized as high while the increase in student Independence Learning is categorized as being moderate.

The purpose of this study is to increase student's activity and learning outcome using guided discovery assisted by PhET (Physics Education Technology). The specific purpose of this study is to describe: 1) the implementation of the lesson plan, 2) activity, and 3) learning outcomes. The type of study that used is a classroom action research by Kemmis and Mc Taggart model that consists of two cycles. The subject of this study is the 24 students of class XII one of the vocational schools in the Banjarmasin city. The data is obtained through observation and test. The results of study in cycles I and II show: 1) the average score of implementation of the lesson plan increased from good category to very good category, 2) the student’s activity has increased 3) the learning outcomes increased from 0% to 87.5% and has been declared complete in cycle II. It can be concluded that the used implementation of guided discovery with PhET can increase activity and learning outcomes.

One of the research objectives was formulated to improve the quality of education, namely by understanding the problems of students and teachers. There were three main groups of quality characteristics of education highlighted in scientific and academic literature in Russia, namely the quality of educational objectives, the quality of the educational process, and the quality of educational outcomes. The problem of education in Indonesia is the quality of the education process. The development of teaching materials is an alternative to improve the quality of the education process. Research so far has only focused on the implementation of learning models by teachers in the classroom, but the model is not integrated into the teaching materials used. This paper examines how the effectiveness of a product that has been developed for two years on 27 Indonesian students. The product produced is a guided discovery-based module in the Complex Analysis subject. This product was developed after the preliminary analysis (defining) process. Students are given 16 modules during lectures; then students are given a final test containing all the competencies that must be achieved. Test results are scored, and statistical analyses are conducted to compare them with student score before using the module. The test used is t-test. The design used is one of the experimental research designs, One Shot Case Study. The results of the study showed that students who were taught with modules developed effectively to improve student learning outcomes. Further research can be done by implementing different learning models in teaching materials.

This research is the development of guided disvovery based electronic module that aims to knowing the eligibility level of e-modules and student responses to guided discovery based electronic modules in redox reaction material. This electronic module uses the ADDIE development model. Research was conducted at one of the high schools in Bengkulu with the subject 9 students of X MIPA A Students for small scale trials and 30 students of X MIPA D Students for large scale trials. From the results of the research obtained (1) the percentage of feasibility of e-modules on the material aspect is 86,315% while from the media aspect is 91.425% so that based on the results of validation by the E-module validator is declared very valid, (2) based on the test results of the small-scale student response percentage of 75.97 % with interesting category, while for large-scale trials of 84.48% with a very interesting category. From the results percentage, it can be concluded that e-module is suitable for use in learning. Electronic modul based on guided discovery is an effective tool to help students in learning redox reaction subject. E-modul can be accessed by smartphone or laptop. While the Posa Method was originally created for mathematical talent management through extracurricular activities, three "average" public secondary school classrooms in Hungary have taken part in a four-year experiment to implement the Posa Method, which is based on guided discovery learning of mathematics. In this paper, we examine the students' and teachers' reflections on the Posa Method, and how student perspectives have changed between their first and last year of high school. Overall, teachers and students had a positive experience with the Posa Method. Furthermore, our research indicated that this implementation has met several objectives of the Posa Method, including enjoyment of mathematics and autonomous thinking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research development aimed to develop of worksheet based on guided discovery for increasing mathematical creative thinking and student’s self-efficacy. Development stage in this study is a preliminary study, planning, development of worksheet, worksheet validation, and field testing. The subject of this research is the students of class 10A3 and 10A5 MAN 1 Central Lampung in the Academic of 2017/2018. The data of this research were obtained by observation, interview, mathematicalcreative thinking ability test and self-efficacy scale. The result of the validity by subject matter expert and media expert showed that the worksheet is considered excellent. The Initial field testing results indicate that worksheet is included in either category. The field testing results showed that (1) the student’s mathematical creative thinking aspect was effective because seen from the N-Gain of 0,54 which included in the category of moderate improvement and (2) the student’s self-efficacy was effective because seen from the N-Gain of 0,36 which included in the category of moderate improvement. It can be concluded that worksheet based on guided discovery effective way to improve the mathematical creative thinking ability and student’s self-efficacy.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bahan ajar geometri dasar berbasis penemuan terbimbing terhadap prestasi belajar mahasiswa tahun akademik 2017/2018. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampling jenuh yaitu semua anggota populasi menjadi sampel sebanyak 28 mahasiswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah paired sample t-tes yaitu dengan melihat perubahan signifikan sebelum menggunakan bahan ajar dengan sesudah menggunakan bahan ajar geometri dasar yang dikembangkan, kemudian digunakan juga N-Gain. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh bahan ajar geometri dasar berbasis penemuan terbimbing terhadap prestasi belajar mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika pada mata kuliah Geometri Dasar. This study aims to determine the effect of basic geometry teaching materials of guided discovery-based on student achievement in 2017/2018 academic year. This research was carried out in the Mathematics Education Study Program, Teaching and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah Metro University. The sampling technique uses saturation sampling, that is, all members of the population become a sample of 28 students. The data analysis technique used is paired sample t-test that is by looking at significant changes before using teaching materials after using the basic geometry teaching materials developed, then used ­N-Gain. Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that there is an influence of guided discovery-based basic geometry teaching materials on the learning achievement of students of mathematics education study program in the Basic Geometry course.

Critical thinking is widely recognized as a necessary skill for growth and intellectual development due to a variety of factors, including globalization, the revolution of information technology, modernity, and connectivity. EFL teachers can lay the groundwork for their students to attain critical thinking through various methods, models, and strategies. The present investigation suggests that the teacher could promote EFL learners' critical thinking through guided discovery model of instruction. Henceforth, the current paper endeavors to enlighten the adequacy of applying guided discovery for developing learners' critical thinking skills. It is an experimental research that investigates: how may guided discovery contribute to the development of EFL learners' critical thinking? It attempts to examine the utility of discovery learning in teaching students how to process and think critically about the education they receive where information has become readily available and accessible. To this aim, 40 EFL Master students who took educational psychology courses were nominated from the university center of Naama, Algeria. The researcher selected Peter Honey Critical Thinking test and focus group discussions to attain data on students' critical thinking skills. The test results demonstrated that the experimental group outperformed the control group. The students become more autonomous, reflect on their learning experiences, and identify the most useful strategies. Furthermore, the analysis of focus group interviews revealed that the experimental group participants hold positive attitudes toward discovery learning. Developing science process skills in novice learners is not an easy task for teachers although these skills are essentially needed to solve problems and make decisions in real-life situasion. This research is pre-test post-test control group design. Pre-test and post-test were administered to the students in the beginning and the end of the approach to measure n-gain of students’ science process skills. Students’ activities in the classroom were also recorded and analysed descriptively and students’ responses concerning the approach were recorded by a questionnaire given at the end of the session. Guided discovery problem-posing appeared helpful to most students for improving both basic and integrated science process skills, specifically higher order thinking skills. This study aimed to identify the effect of the guided discovery teaching strategy on creative thinking and the performance level in the shot put skill. Forty physical education students from Yarmouk University, who were enrolled in the course of track and field during the second semester of the year 2016/2017, were initially selected and divided into two equal groups. The experimental group used the discovery guided strategy for shot put; whereas the control group used the traditional strategy. An Experimental program was used for 5 weeks, three sessions per week, each session lasted for 50 minutes. Creative thinking was measured using a specific scale developed by Ahmad (2011), that consists of 27 items. The researchers developed a sheet for measuring shot put performance. The results of this study showed that the students from the experimental group achieved better scores in creative thinking and shot put performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
