Background and Objective: Reduced functional capacity, dyspnea, fatigue, and changes in body composition are common in patients with post‐COVID‐19 syndrome (PCS), and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation may improve these parameters. Thus, the present study verified the effects of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (respiratory, aerobic, and resistance muscle training) on submaximal exercise tolerance, dyspnea, fatigue, and body composition. Methods: This controlled and randomized clinical trial applied a six‐week outpatient intervention protocol in individuals over 18 years old (n = 33) with a diagnosis of COVID‐19 confirmed by polymerase chain reaction. These individuals were allocated to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (n = 17) or control groups (i.e., educational lectures; n = 16). The cardiopulmonary rehabilitation group performed respiratory, aerobic, and resistance muscle training. Submaximal exercise tolerance, dyspnea, fatigue, and body composition were assessed before and after the protocol. Results: After 6 weeks, the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation group increased the tolerance to submaximal exercise, with a difference of 100.46 m (95% confidence interval [CI]: 7.40–193 m) in the distance walked on the six‐minute walk test, reduced dyspnea (−1.45, 95% CI: −1.98–−0.92) in the modified Medical Research Council, and increased 0.63 kg (95% CI: 0.09–1.18 kg) of muscle mass in the upper limbs compared with the control group. Conclusion: The six‐week cardiopulmonary rehabilitation protocol improved functional capacity, reduced dyspnea, and increased muscle mass in the upper limbs in individuals with PCS. Thus, these results supported the protocol use in this population and encourage further studies to assess its effectiveness in a large sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of the study was to evaluate, based on sight of teachers and students, an undergraduate course in Dentistry, based on the DCN. This is an observational and transversal study, with an exploratory, descriptive and evaluation methodology. The approach used was quantitative, through the application of online questionnaire, through an instrument with validated criteria. The sample used was census of professors and students of a Dentistry course. The dimension Teaching-and service integration got the best relative performance between the dimensions evaluated by both students and teachers. Most students considered the course appropriate to DCN (50.2%), while the majority of teachers considered it to be partially adequate (56.36%). The students were more satisfied with the formation provided in the course assigning higher mean values for all dimensions and sub-dimensions. Regarding the Profile of graduates, teachers and students attributed the worst performance to the sub-dimension "Autonomous", the best performance was attributed to the subdimensions "Generalist" and "Able to understand social reality". In the dimension health care guidance, teachers and students attributed better performance to the sub-dimension "Dental treatment", while the worst performance was attributed to "Multiprofessionality" and "Epidemiological Approach". In the Pedagogical Approach dimension, the best performance was attributed to the sub-dimensions "Teacher's Role" and "Teaching-Research-Extension Articulation", the worst performance was attributed by teachers and students to the sub-dimension "Curriculum Flexibilization". The dimension Teaching-and service integration and related sub-dimensions were well evaluated by both teachers and students. It was noticed that the main fragilities found are related to dimensions that approach the professional patient relationship and the relations between the dentist and the health team during the professional training. It is necessary to create reorientation strategies of training aimed at new teaching and learning methodological concepts for the implementation of DCN in the Dentistry course.

This study assessed the efficacy of a pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) on pulmonary and respiratory muscle function and thickness of quadriceps femoris and diaphragm of patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. This series of cases followed nine patients who performed PR twice a week for six weeks. Patients received the following PR program: lung expansion therapy; respiratory muscle training; upper limb strength exercises; aerobic exercises on a treadmill. After the program, we observed increased peak expiratory flow (26.03%), forced vital capacity (FVC) (7.14%), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) (9.55%), and ratio between FEV1/FVC (6.19%). All parameters of respiratory muscle strength and endurance were improved. Diaphragmatic thickening fraction and thickness of quadriceps femoris also improved, whereas echo intensity of quadriceps reduced. Thus, RP protocol improved pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength and endurance, and thickness of diaphragm and quadriceps femoris, and reduced echo intensity of quadriceps in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. This article aims to compare the implementation of coordinated actions by family health/primary care (FH/PC) teams and extended family health and primary care units (NASF-ABs) in the Northeast and rest of Brazil, and the influence of implementation on collaborative working. The independent variables were 19 coordinated actions assessed by Module II of the 3rd Cycle of the National Program for Improving Primary Care Access and Quality (PMAQ-AB). The three collaborative working outcomes were "FH/PC team readiness to work jointly with the NASF-AB", "support received by the FH/PC team from the NASF-AB", and "The NASF-AB's contribution to resolving patients" needs. The implementation of coordinated actions by the Northeast and at national level was compared using the two-proportions z-test and the influence of these actions on the outcomes was assessed using hierarchical linear regression models: The Northeast implemented more actions that at national level (p<0.05). The implemented actions that had the most positive influence on the three outcomes were "Case conferences", "Joint development of singular therapy plans for complex cases", "Shared appointments" and "Results monitoring". The Northeast implemented more actions and the implemented actions had a positive influence on collaborative working. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To explore the sociodemographic profile and physical health of elderly enrolled in Family Health Units (USF) in the city of João Pessoa – PB, Brazil, and the factors associated with self-reported diagnoses in this population. Methods: The sample consisted of 401 elderly aged 60 years or more enrolled in USF, selected through a random drawing of families’ medical charts. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied to collect data. Prevalence rates and their related IC 95% were calculated for sample characterization and chi-square test was used to verify heterogeneity among the proportions. Results: In the assessed population, 67.6% (n=271) were female, 53.6% (n=215) were aged 60-69 and 54.9% (n=220) were married. Regarding health conditions, 50.4% (n=202) self-perceived their health as fine and 52.1% (n=209) displayed some degree of dependence to perform instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). Significant association was found (p>0.005) between the number of self-reported diagnoses and gender, self-rated health, amount of medicine ingestion per day and instrumental activities of daily living. Conclusions: The profile of population reveals predominance of women, aged 60-69 years, married, living with a maximum of five people, the children being the ones with the strongest linkage to the elderly, with just over half of the sample not knowing how to read and write, and total household income in the interval of two and three minimum wages. The elderly also showed independence to perform activities of daily living and light or moderate degree of dependence to perform at least one of the instrumental activities of daily living.

- Abstract
Population aging is unquestionably a global phenomenon. In Brazil and worldwide, the growing number of elders has brought about major challenges for public policies, especially those related to the health care at this age range. In this perspective, falls are presently one of the most worrying health problems among elders, with a strong impact on their quality of life. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, frequency and associated factors of falls among elders assigned to the Family Health Strategy (FHS) in the city of Joà o Pessoa- PB, Brazil widiin one year preceding the interview. Methodology: This was a population-based study, conducted with 401 subjects aged 60 years or over, ascribed to 18 Basic Health Units (BHU) randomly selected from the city. We evaluated the occurrence, frequency and association of falls in the sample through a questionnaire, which included sociodemographic and physical health characteristics. Results: Among the subjects studied, 42.4% reported falls, with 24% having had a single episode and 18.3% with two or more falls within the year preceding the interview. The event was more prevalent among older women, those aged between 60 and 69 years, those with caregivers, those with negative self-rated health; those who reported co-morbidities and those who wore glasses. The high prevalence of the event refers to the need of specific health policies for older people. It is imperative to conduct studies that investigate the characteristics of the population and the social context in which they live, in order to provide subsidies for the performance of health professionals involved with the Family Health Strategy (FHS).
