The excessive and irrational use of antibiotics to control bovine mastitis and the informal trade in milk with antibiotic residues are objects of great interest for public health, due to the problems associated with the consumption of milk with antibiotic residues on human, animal, and environmental health, and antibiotic resistance. The objective of this study was to understand the attitudes of dairy farmers towards the self-consumption of milk on the farm, the use of milk with antibiotic residues, and the formal and informal milk trade that generates risks for public health. Mixed methods: cross-sectional and grounded theory. Convergent triangulation design. The study was carried out in 9 dairy municipalities in the North of Antioquia, where 216 dairy farmers participated in the quantitative component; and 17 milk producers and 9 veterinarians took part in the qualitative component. A dairy farmer characterization survey was conducted, as well as a survey on the use and marketing of milk from cows with udder health problems and/or under antibiotic treatment. Semistructured interviews were conducted on the same subject. The variable "Intention to sell milk in the village when the dairy industry does not buy it due to high BTSCC" is associated with the BTSCC variable. The variable "Type of marketing reported" is associated with the CFU variable. 5 categories: self-consumption of milk, use of milk with antibiotics, informal milk trade, control of the dairy industry, and beliefs about the elimination of antibiotics in milk, were constructed to theorize about udder health and public health. Sociocultural, political, and economic factors affect decision making in dairy farmers regarding the use and marketing of milk from cows with mastitis and antibiotic residues. These attitudes and behaviors have public health implications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Dairy industry economics and public health are negatively impacted when udder health is compromised. Intramammary infection is the most important infectious problem generating economic losses to the milk production systems around the world. Affectations of animal generated diseases on public health are well known. Several categories of analysis have been studied to implement prevention and control strategies against intramammary disease. However, the control of these affectations has been considered a complex problem based on various factors. Objective: characterize the categories and subcategories of analysis used for the study of udder health published in research papers during the period comprehend between 1962 - 2019. Methodology: A systematic review with a broad approach in the research protocol was designed applying the identification phases, screening, choice, and inclusion criteria described in the PRISMA guide. A qualitative synthesis of year of publication, continent, focus, category of udder health analysis, and subcategories of udder health analysis was performed. Results: We found that more than half of the papers identified in this topic were published in the last decade of the studied period (1962 - 2019). New categories were incorporated into the timeline, evidencing an evolution in the way of understanding udder health problems. Implications: Many of the countries that publish most of the papers have implemented programs and policies on udder health management in recent years. Precisely in the last decade, cultural processes and political processes were incorporated into the study of udder health. This incorporation of new and relevant topics may have been very useful in the design and evaluation of public policies on udder health in those countries. Conclusions: These results show the interest in the academic, productive, and political sectors for udder health and its consequences on public health.

- Abstract
The dataset reported here was created to analyze the value of physiological traits identified by the International Wheat Yield Partnership (IWYP) to improve wheat potential in high-yielding environments. This dataset consists of 11 growing seasons at three high-yielding locations in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Ciudad Obregon (Mexico), and Valdivia (Chile) with the spring wheat cultivar Bacanora and a high-yielding genotype selected from a doubled haploid (DH) population developed from the cross between the Bacanora and Weebil cultivars from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). This dataset was used in the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) Wheat Phase 4 to evaluate crop model performance when simulating high-yielding physiological traits and to determine the potential production of wheat using an ensemble of 29 wheat crop models. The field trials were managed for non-stress conditions with full irrigation, fertilizer application, and without biotic stress. Data include local daily weather, soil characteristics and initial soil conditions, cultivar information, and crop measurements (anthesis and maturity dates, total above-ground biomass, final grain yield, yield components, and photosynthetically active radiation interception). Simulations include both daily in-season and end-of-season results for 25 crop variables simulated by 29 wheat crop models. The R code and formatted data used for the statistical analyses are included. (2022-02-11).

- Abstract
Wheat is the most widely grown food crop, with 761 Mt produced globally in 2020. To meet the expected grain demand by mid-century, wheat breeding strategies must continue to improve upon yield-advancing physiological traits, regardless of climate change impacts. Here, the best performing doubled haploid (DH) crosses with an increased canopy photosynthesis from wheat field experiments in the literature were extrapolated to the global scale with a multi-model ensemble of process-based wheat crop models to estimate global wheat production. The DH field experiments were also used to determine a quantitative relationship between wheat production and solar radiation to estimate genetic yield potential. The multi-model ensemble projected a global annual wheat production of 1050 ± 145 Mt due to the improved canopy photosynthesis, a 37% increase, without expanding cropping area. Achieving this genetic yield potential would meet the lower estimate of the projected grain demand in 2050, albeit with considerable challenges.

STRATEGIC planning ,PROFITABILITY ,DAIRY industry ,GROSS domestic product ,MILK yield - Abstract
In Colombia, the annual production of milk was 7,301 million liters in 2019. The dairy sector accounts for 1.6 percent of national GDP (gross domestic product) and 21.8 percent of agricultural GDP. However, the results for this sector have not been satisfactory as expected in the last decades as compared to the rest of Latin America. As we were able to identify, many problems have been reported in the primary productive sector such as: lack of policies to improve productivity, inefficiency in production, inadequate technical production processes, huge variability in production prices, competitive disadvantages generated by the massive inflow of imported goods, among others, which contributes greatly to the reductions on dairy farms profitability. The latter implies the need for research on decisionmaking tools that reduce uncertainty in the dairy industry. The use of technical indexes aimed to control in evaluate dairy farms in terms of productivity and profitability, which can be useful to monitor and track changes and requirements for the Colombian dairy industry. In Colombia, there are no studies addressed at the determinants of profitability of the dairy sector. This has motivated the current work to study profitability using predictive analytics, through an integrated approach considering costs, productivity, economic and technical indexes. This project proposes a management model that supports decision-making on dairy farms by calculating profitability and generating alerts based on the sensibility of selected input variables. The model focuses on the determination of the cause-effect relationships between the input and output variables (net annual income, profit margin, and return rates on the invested capital) to explain the determinant of profitability in the farm. First, we described the generalities of the primary link in the dairy sector in Colombia. Second, using a panel of experts we selected a set of variables related to feed, animals, human resources, fertilization, among others. We used principal component analysis (PCA) as a tool to reduce preselected inputs to those that explain better the variance and have the greatest impact on output variables. The results of this PCA worked as an initial model for multiple linear regression models as the primary methodology for establishing cause-effect relationships between input and output variables (a model for each output variable) that can explain the profitability of the production in the farm. We used R Studio to operate both methodologies. Our final goal is to calculate the profitability considering our output variables. Furthermore, generate alerts on input variables based on scenario analysis to support decision-making in dairy farms. Our work team had access to an experimental farm of the Center of Agricultural Practices and Development of the Universidad de Antioquia located in the municipality of San Pedro de los Milagros, Antioquia, where we used productive records of this farm, developing indexes and generating new determinants of profitability if these were not available. We propose to validate this model on farms in other regions in Colombia in order to verify the capacity to calculate profitability in real management situations in the Colombian dairy productive sector.
