All‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) using sulfide electrolytes have attracted ever‐increasing interest due to high ionic conductivity of the sulfides. Nevertheless, a thin, strong solid‐state sulfide electrolyte membrane maintaining high ionic conductivity is highly desired for ASSBs. Here, a thin, flexible composite solid electrolyte membrane composed of argyrodite sulfide Li6PS5Cl and a polar poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF‐TrFE)) framework is prepared via an electrospinning‐infiltration‐hot‐pressing method. The interaction between Li6PS5Cl and polar P(VDF‐TrFE) ensures a high lithium‐ion conductivity (≈1.2 mS cm–1) at room temperature and good mechanical ductility of the composite electrolyte membrane. The coin‐type ASSB cells with the thin composite electrolyte membrane, a composite cathode of LiNbO3‐coated LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 and Li6PS5Cl, and a lithium‐indium anode, show super cycling performance, and the capacity retention is 92% after 1000 cycles and 71% even after 20 000 cycles at 1.0 mA cm–2 (i.e., 1.61 C) at room temperature. Moreover, pouch‐type ASSB cells with a high mass loading of active materials are made to demonstrate the potential and feasibility in future commercial applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As a new type of electrochemical energy storage system, aqueous battery–supercapacitor hybrid (BSH) devices are attracting increasing interest due to their high energy and power density, high security, and low cost. Herein, hierarchical NiS/SnS2 heterogeneous nanowall arrays on carbon cloth (NiS/SnS2@CC) are synthesized via a simple cation-exchange method using SnS2@CC as the precursor. Benefiting from the maximum use ratio of the active materials and the synergistic effects between the SnS2 core and the NiS shell, NiS/SnS2@CC delivered an ultrahigh specific capacity of 430.38 mA h g−1 at a current density of 2.5 mA cm−2 (1.16 A g−1) with excellent rate capability of 185.08 mA h g−1 at a very high current density of 40 mA cm−2 (23.26 A g−1) and satisfactory cycling stability (82.6% of capacity retention after 1000 cycles). Moreover, all-solid-state BSH devices could be assembled using NiS/SnS2@CC as the battery-type cathode and Fe2O3/rGO@CC as the supercapacitor-type anode. With a maximum working voltage of 1.6 V, such a device exhibited a very high energy density of 104.23 W h kg−1 at a power density of 301 W kg−1 with excellent cycling stability and flexibility. The data presented in this article are related to a research article entitled 'Novel β-NiS film modified CdS nanoflowers heterostructure nanocomposite: extraordinarily highly efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution' (Zhang et al., 2018) [1]. In this article, we report original data on the synthesis processes optimization of the proposed nanocomposite on the basis of their optimum photocatalytic performance together with the comparison on the results of literatures and comparative experiments. The composition, microstructure, morphology, photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and photocatalytic stability of the corresponding samples are included in this report. The data are presented in this format in order to facilitate comparison with data from other researchers in the field and understanding the mechanism of similar catalysts.

Co-catalysis is regarded as a promising strategy to improve the hydrogen evolution performance of semiconductor-based photocatalysts. But developing a simple and effective technique to achieve the optimal synergy between co-catalysts and host photocatalysts has been a great challenge. Herein, hybrid photocatalysts consisting of β-NiS modified CdS nanowires (NiS/CdS NWs) have been synthesized via a simple and green hydrothermal route using CdS NWs as the template from thiourea and nickel acetate in the presence of sodium hypophosphite. As a result, a metal Ni intermediate was formed via an electroless plating process assisted by H 2 PO 2 - , which facilitated the growth of highly conducting flake-like β-NiS nanostructures onto the surface of the CdS NWs. With the optimal loading amount of NiS, the obtained NiS/CdS NWs present a record-high photocatalytic activity for H 2 evolution in lactic acid aqueous solutions under visible light irradiation. At 25 °C, the rate of H 2 evolution was measured as 793.6 μmol h -1 (over a 5 mg photocatalyst sample), which is nearly 250-fold higher than that over pure CdS NWs, and the apparent quantum yield reached an exceptionally high value of 74.1% at 420 nm. The mechanism for the photocatalytic H 2 evolution over the present NiS/CdS NWs was also proposed. This strategy would provide new insight into the design and development of high-performance heterostructured photocatalysts.
