Violence against women impacts a minimum of 35% of the global female population, encompassing sexual, physical, and psychological forms. Perpetrators of this violence include partners, family members, or strangers. Its ramifications are substantial, evident in the prevalence of chronic pain reported by between 48% and 84% of women who have experienced abuse, with an odds ratio of 2.08. Notably associated diagnoses include pelvic/vaginal pain, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome/bowel symptoms, abdominal pain, migraine/headache, and back and neck pain. These diagnoses significantly limit a woman's ability to participate in daily activities, such as exercising or working, leading to genuine disability. Despite substantial evidence, the precise cause and etiology of these conditions remain unclear. Adhering to the bio-psycho-social model, it is conceivable that chronic pain in victims of violence cannot be attributed to a single factor alone, but rather to a combination of all three: biological, psychological, and social factors. Uncovering these factors could have significant clinical and legal implications. On one hand, it would be possible to conduct screenings to avoid developing chronic pain. and guide individuals toward the correct treatment. On the other hand, victims could seek compensation for chronic pain resulting from violence. Considering the limited knowledge about the causes of chronic pain and the absence of tools to identify risk factors or a set of tests for evaluating victims of violence, the goal of the research described in this project protocol is to pinpoint the specific contributing factors for chronic pain due to violence victimization. Introduction: In the last decades, a large body of literature has explored the topic of perceived safety and fear of crime in urban environments. The effects of psychological factors on such feelings have been studied, but rarely using prospective studies, and never when these factors intercept a worldwide dramatic event like the pandemic. This research aimed to analyze the variations of the feelings of urban safety during the pandemic, the role of resiliency and the effect of psychological stressors such as anxiety, stress, and depression. Methods: During 2019 and 2022, before and after the pandemic, a face-to-face interview was administered to the same group of 195 participants. The PUSAS scale was used to measure unsafety, the ER89-R to assess for resiliency, the DASS-21 to collect data about the general distress (anxiety, stress and depression), and the CAS scale was used to evaluate the specific coronavirus anxiety. Structural equation models were applied to test a theoretical framework grounded on the relationships between these measures. Results: The research findings showed decreased feelings of unsafety across the pandemic, consistent with the literature. The positive effect of ego-resiliency was significant but only for its interaction with data collected before the pandemic, whilst stress and anxiety impacted unsafety in 2022 through different pathways. None of the symptoms of general distress influenced the concern about crime and sense of vulnerability, as the feelings of unsafety were found independent from the variations of the specific coronavirus anxiety. Discussion: Although the research findings did not confirm the impact of coronavirus, they presented some facets that disconfirm what the literature reported about the relationships between psychological distress and fear of crime. Mobile health platforms have shown promise in the management of various mental health conditions (including stress, anxiety, and depression) and cognitive behavioral strategies emerged as a popular and effective option offered by the platforms. This paper presents the protocol of a study aimed to test the effectiveness of a mobile platform that uses cognitive-behavioral strategies for stress self-management in the Tuscany region (Italy). The mobile app is adapted to the specific needs of each vulnerable population for which it is designed: young and older people, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs. The app will be evaluated on the following outcomes: (i) perceived susceptibility and severity of the pandemic situation, perceived benefits, and costs of preventive health behaviors, (ii) knowledge about Covid-19 preventive behaviors and negative consequences of social distancing, (iii) stress and psychopathological symptoms (i.e., anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress symptoms) and cognitive distortions. If successful, we expect that the platform could give various groups clinical benefits by providing symptom self-monitoring and early intervention, consolidating the number of mental health programs available, and decreasing barriers to treatment-seeking. Physical and verbal aggression can occur with significant frequency in the working life of healthcare workers. The effects of such events on the psychological health of victims of workplace aggression have been shown, but their indirect effect has not yet been studied. The present brief report describes an exploratory study investigating the effect of indirect victimization on burnout dimensions in healthcare workers. Two hundred ninety-seven workers completed an online questionnaire to detect direct/indirect workplace-related victimization experiences and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The direct physical victimization typology produced a significant effect on all the burnout dimensions while the verbal type had a significant impact on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, but not on personal accomplishment. Indirect victimization due to verbal aggression produced a significant effect on depersonalization. Aggression prevention and risk containment is important to safeguard workers against violent events but also to preserve perception of a safe workplace protected from all types of aggression. Purpose: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) includes different symptoms: re‐experiencing, avoidance of reminders and numbing, and hyperarousal. Although questionnaires are widely used, clinician‐administered interviews provide a more comprehensive exploration of symptoms. Few studies examined the convergence between clinician‐rated and patient‐reported general severity and symptoms, with mixed findings. We explored the association between clinician‐rated and patient‐reported general severity and symptoms and the moderator role of gender in PTSD patients referred to a specialized outpatient service. Design and Methods: The Clinician‐Administered PTSD Scale and Davidson Trauma Scale were administered to 56 patients. Findings: Patients classified by clinicians as with higher avoidance/numbing symptoms and women classified with higher hyperarousal symptoms reported higher general severity. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can arise as a secondary condition to a primary bipolar disorder, an aspect which may be overlooked by clinicians and thus may contribute to the exacerbation of the bipolar disorder itself. The occurrence of manic symptoms can have a traumatic impact on a patient unaware of her/his diagnosis, especially during symptom remission. The present work describes a clinical case of a woman with type-1 bipolar disorder and PTSD secondary to previous manic episodes characterized by hypersexuality. This clinical case is characterized by the fact that the patient had not received an adequate psycho-educational intervention making her aware of bipolar symptoms and helping her to elaborate the trauma of hypersexuality experienced after remission. The psychodiagnostic and psychotherapeutic assessment procedures are described and the forensic psychiatric implications related to the importance of timely and evidence-based intervention on this comorbidity are discussed. Identification of the primary pathology may be complicated by behaviours provoked by the psychiatric symptoms which put these patients at risk of becoming victims of abuse. Lo stress e le violenze morali nei luoghi di lavoro, come indicato dai dati epidemiologici, sono in costante aumento e rappresentano una causa di alterazione dello stato di salute dei lavoratori, con importanti ricadute negative sui soggetti, sulle aziende e sulla società. Nel caso descritto qui di seguito, le violenze morali e la disfunzionalità organizzativa, una delle principali fonti di stress correlato al lavoro, sono state intenzionalmente impiegate quale mezzo mobbizzante nei confronti di un lavoratore da parte dei suoi superiori (mobbing verticale). Attraverso il procedimento giudiziario, intrapreso dal lavoratore per vedersi riconosciuto vittima di mobbing, è stato possibile ripercorrere e identificare le ragioni e le modalità dell'azione mobbizzante, l'eziopatogenesi della conseguente psicopatologia, la sua strutturazione e la manifestazione sintomatologica. L'esame del caso permette di formulare delle considerazioni riguardo la necessità che i casi di mobbing siano trattati all'interno di un team multidisciplinare (medico di famiglia, medico del lavoro, psichiatra e medico legale) al fine di garantire un efficace trattamento terapeutico e la tutela del lavoratore nei diversi ambiti previsti dalla legge.

After a survey of the definition and etiopathogenesis of burnout syndrome (BOS) carried out with the support of the most reliable available literature on the subject, the essay focuses on clinical evaluation (psychometric identification and quantification) of burn-out. In accordance with Circular 71/2003 of INAIL, it is assumed to be essential both legally and scientifically knowledge that the syndrome of burnout, knowledge, which involves an analysis of the case conducted with objective strictness and critical sensibility. It is carried out by collecting data on work history, physiological history, remote and proximal pathological history and performing a physical examination including neuro-psychiatric and psycho-diagnostic tests surveys. Only after the ascertainment of an effective existence of a psychiatric syndrome related to burnout phenomenon indeed, it will be possible (and necessary) to quantify the period of illness and the potential temporary biological damage or, more rarely, a permanent one. Given the difficulty of applying the forensic methodology to BOS (among which: the evaluation of the previous state of the person, the assessment of the causal link, the difficulties of nosographic of mental illness, the near impossibility of adequate prognostic evaluation, the difficulty to identify suitable criteria for establishing the importance and nature of limitations of daily living), in order to quantify the damage as objective as possible, it will be necessary to: 1) reconstruct the previous mental state of the subject; 2) assess the psychopathological condition following the event which the action of recognition focuses on; 3) express the clinical severity graduation judgment of the framework as well as a prognosis regarding the mental disorder found. The second part of the analysis focuses on the relationship between BOS and "helping profession"; specific attention is paid, in this section of work, to the analysis of the relationship between a typical BOS work-related stress and suicide.
