The linear electro-optic effect offers a valuable means to control light properties via an external electric field. Lithium niobate (LN), with its high electro-optic coefficients and broad optical transparency ranges, stands out as a prominent material for efficient electro-optic modulators. The recent advent of lithium niobate-on-insulator (LNOI) wafers has sparked renewed interest in LN for compact photonic devices. In this study, we present an electro-optic modulator utilizing a thin LN film sandwiched between top and bottom gold (Au) film electrodes, forming a Fabry–Pérot (F–P) resonator. This resonator exhibits spectral resonance shifts under an applied electric field, enabling efficient modulation of reflected light strength. The modulator achieved a 2.3 % modulation amplitude under ±10 V alternating voltage. Our approach not only presents a simpler fabrication process but also offers larger modulation amplitudes compared to previously reported metasurface based LN electro-optic modulators. Our results open up new opportunities for compact electro-optic modulators with applications in beam steering devices, dynamic holograms, and spatial light modulators, and more.

In view of the difficulties, including simple facilities, temporary team formation, high working intensity, medical safety hazards and difficult emergency disposal etc. in medical management when large-scale Fangcang hospitals admitted and treated large quantity of patients during the epidemic period of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. We explored the medical management system of large-scale Fangcang hospital from the aspects of establishing a medical management team, formulating medical management system and disease diagnosis and treatment standards, upgrading the safety precautions and control, refining quality control evaluation and strengthening hospital-wide training and supervision. Aiming at improving the safety and the medical quality as the core goal, strengthening the medical system and optimizing the workflow are optimized via summarized the practical experience, to make large-scale Fangcang hospitals respond well to public health emergencies.

The management team from Ruijin Hospital had successively participated in the design, construction and operation of many Fangcang shelter hospitals. Combined with the large scale of the hospital, large amount of patients and medical wastes, high infection risk of staff, this paper summarizes the experience of our team in the prevention and control work from design of Fangcang shelter hospital, infection prevention and control system and operation process, staff training, health management, medical waste management, which may provide reference for the safe and stable operation of large shelter hospitals.

A novel phenomenon is observed in the meta-atoms composed of a complementary rectangular double split-ring resonator (SRR). An intrinsic Fano-resonance collapses with the outer SRR deformed asymmetrically. Alternatively, a trapped mode emerges at an adjacent frequency region, of which its strength grows up with increasing the asymmetric deviation. However, the asymmetric deformation in the inner SRR has influence neither on the evolution of this intrinsic Fano-resonance nor on the excitation of the aforementioned trapped mode. The results of electromagnetic field simulation indicate that an interference of two magnetic dipoles leads to the intrinsic Fano-resonance on the outer SRR. The asymmetric deviation destructs coherent interference so that the Fano-resonance collapses. To the trapped mode, the surface current passes through the metal gap of the outer SRR, leading to a couple of antiparallel currents, which results in a couple of magnetic dipole oscillations. The intrinsic modes are kept constant, even though the inner SRR is asymmetrically deformed. The outer SRR plays the role of a Faraday cage, which electromagnetically shields the trapped mode on the inner SRR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
