We investigated the mechanism of hysteresis and uncontrolled deflection in jet vectoring control based on the Coanda effect. Thrust vectoring control based on the Coanda effect is highly applicable in the field of fluid dynamics because they can achieve jet deflection control with a simple geometric structure and low energy consumption. However, the hysteresis and uncontrolled deflection phenomena considerably hinder the practical application of these technologies. We designed a new passive fluidic thrust vectoring control model to analyze the mechanism of these disadvantages. We developed a synchronous pressure, force, and flow field measurement system to investigate the evolutions of flow structures and their effects on wall pressure distribution and vectoring force. The characteristics of the key flow structures, including the separation bubble, the secondary flow, and the backflow, were investigated. The transient features of jet attachment and jet detachment were researched to identify the transition of near-wall flow structures and wall pressure distribution during jet uncontrolled deflection. The mechanism of uncontrolled deflection is that the formation/breakdown of the separation bubble changes the flow state of the backflow, and the near-wall mass flux balance is collapsed. This causes a dramatic change in the jet vectoring angle, which is out of the valve's control. During attachment, the shear layer first touches the wall and forms a separation bubble, and then, the bubble shrinks. During detachment, the bubble first enlarges and then breaks down. Therefore, the formation and breakdown of the separation bubble correspond to different valve positions, which is the mechanism of hysteresis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The 300 series stainless steels generally exhibit good corrosion resistance in common use. However, a premature fracture event caused by hydrogen embrittlement was encountered on 300 series stainless steels which was used as belt hanging chips in a tin plating process for the chip lead frame. The cause of the fracture was carefully studied. A metallurgical microscope and photoelectric direct reading spectrometer were used to examine the metallographic structures and chemical compositions of the matrix material. A scanning electron microscope and energy disperse spectroscope were also applied to analyze the micro morphologies and micro-area composition of the fracture. Meanwhile, the chemistry and hydrogen content of the process media were inspected by ion chromatography and hydrogen analyzer. In addition, the finite element method was employed to simulate the effect on the belt from the service conditions. The analysis results revealed that the unqualified material selection, the aggressive media, and the inappropriate technological parameters were the main causes of the failure. Efficient acquisition of clear images of moving objects is one of the research bottlenecks in the practical applications of ghost imaging (GI) technology. Here the representative ghost imaging of rotating objects was focused on, and a group frame neural network combined with a frame correction algorithm was proposed to promote the improvement of ghost imaging quality and efficiency for moving objects. By performing angle correction on the illumination patterns to obtain corrected bucket measurement images, the motion blur can be suppressed. These bucket measurement images are then input into the network to achieve high-quality image reconstruction. The structural similarity index measure (SSIM) of the network's output images is on average 25 times higher than traditional GI. Moreover, all the images of different angle orientations during the rotation of 360°with a 1-degree step distance can be reconstructed simultaneously by making use of one frame of correlation measurement data. Therefore, the acquisition cost with the proposed algorithm can be reduced by more than 300 times compared with traditional GI without angle correction. The proposed scenario may find broad application prospects in the fields of military and remote sensing. • The motion blur of fast-rotating objects in ghost imaging is suppressed by employing a frame correction algorithm. • The network takes the corrected multi-frame bucket measurement as inputs. • It can reconstruct images of the object at different rotation angles by only one-time imaging. Aiming at the problem of continuous control of asymmetric forebody vortices at a high angle of attack in a bi-stable regime, a dual synthetic jet actuator embedded in an ogive forebody was designed. Alternating unsteady disturbance with varying degree asymmetrical flow fields near the nozzles is generated by adjusting the duty cycle of the drive signal of the actuator, specifically embodying the asymmetric time-averaged pattern of jet velocity, vorticity, and turbulent kinetic energy. Experimental results show that within the range of relatively high angles of attack, including the angle-of-attack region in a bi-stable state, the lateral force of the ogive forebody is continuously controlled by adjusting the duty cycle of the drive signal; the position of the forebody vortices in space, the vorticity magnitude, the total pressure coefficient near the vortex core, and the vortex breakdown location are continuously changed with the duty cycle increased observed from the time-averaged flow field. Instantaneous flow field results indicate that although the forebody vortices are in an unsteady oscillation state, a continuous change in the forebody vortices’ oscillation balance position as the duty cycle increases leads to a continuous change in the model’s surface pressure distribution and time-averaged lateral force. Different from the traditional control principle, in this study, other different degree asymmetrical states of the forebody vortices except the bi-stable state are obtained using the dual synthetic jet control technology.
