Abstract

Two new lignan glycosides (1, 2) and four known lignan glycosides (3–6) have been isolated from the ethanolic extract of the stems of Viburnum melanocarpum through repeated column chromatography. Their structures including absolute configurations were confirmed by spectroscopic data [one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectra (HRESIMS), optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and circular dichroism (CD)] and chemical methods. Additionally, the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of these compounds was tested in vitro. Compound 1 exhibited the strongest inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of 10.3 μM.

Abstract

Herein, the amino-capped TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized using tetrabutyl titanate and amino polymers by a two-step sol-gel and hydrothermal method technique for the fabrication of functional cotton fabric. The prepared TiO2 nanoparticles and the treated cotton fabric were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microcopy (FE-SEM) photocatalytic and antibacterial measurement. The results indicate the typical characteristic anatase form of the amino-capped TiO2 NPs with an average crystallite size of 14.9 nm. The treated cotton fabrics exhibit excellent antibacterial property and good photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue.

26. Neolignan Constituents with Potential Beneficial Effects in Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes from Viburnum fordiaeHance Fruits

Abstract

Nine new neolignan glycosides (1–9), viburfordosides A–I, two new neolignans, fordianes A and B (10, 11), and seven known analogues (12–18) have been isolated and identified from the fruits of Viburnum fordiaeHance. The structures and absolute configurations of undescribed neolignan constituents were identified by chemical methods and spectroscopic analyses. The α-glucosidase inhibitory, ABTS•+and DPPH•scavenging, and anti-inflammatory activities of these secondary metabolites were evaluated. Some of them exhibited significant potency in inhibiting α-glucosidase and scavenging free radicals. Among the 14 metabolites that were found to have the capacity to inhibit NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage cells, compounds 2, 4, 6, 10, 11, 14, 17, and 18were potent with IC50values of 10.88–41.10 μM. These results support that V. fordiaefruits possessing the neolignan compounds may serve as both a functional food and a medicinal resource to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Abstract

Electromagnetic radiation can cause serious harm to the human body, such as the rise in body temperature and the decrease in immune function. In this study, the carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/Fe3O4 nonwovens were used to prepare wearable flexible absorbing materials. First, the single-layer absorbing structures were prepared by hot rolling, dipping, and film fabrication, respectively. Then, the single-layer structures were combined to form the multi-layer absorbing structures. By testing and analyzing the absorbing performance of various structures in the X-band frequency range, the optimum combination scheme was found, together with a good reflection loss value of CNTs/Fe3O4 nonwoven material. The experiment results displayed that the single-layer hot-rolled nonwovens modified by CNTs have the best wave absorbing performance. Its minimum reflection loss of −18.59 dB occurred at 10.55 GHz, and the efficient frequency occurred at 8.86–12.40 GHz. The modified film can significantly improve the absorbing performance of multi-layer structures. In addition, the absorbing performance was closely related to both the place where the absorbing film was introduced and the type of absorbing fillers. When the film-forming CNTs (FC) film was located at the bottom layer of the multi-layer structure, the hot rolled CNTs hot rolled mixed reagent film forming CNTs (HC-HM-FC) structure constructed exhibited the best absorbing effects. Its minimum reflection loss can reach −33 dB, and the effective absorbing frequency range covered half of the X-band. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
