The quest for sustainable synthesis of carboxylic acids has led to the exploration of innovative routes and catalysts for the oxidative cleavage of carbon−carbon double bonds, prevalent in bio‐derived molecules. This process involves multiple steps including epoxidation, hydrolysis and vicinal diol cleavage, often catalysed by unsustainable homogeneous or noble‐metal catalysts. In this study, we present the utilization of Fe‐ZSM‐5 as a versatile bifunctional catalyst capable of catalysing both hydrolysis and vicinal diol cleavage steps, utilizing propylene oxide as model compound and H2O2 as oxidizing agent. The prepared Fe‐ZSM‐5 features the zeolite intrinsic Lewis and Brønsted acidity functions, essential for the hydrolysis step, as well as high fractions of monomeric FeOx species, crucial for the subsequent vicinal diol cleavage, leading to streamlined carboxylic acids formation in a one‐pot, two‐step process. Moreover, by combining Fe‐ZSM‐5 with TS‐1, renowned for its epoxidation activity, we demonstrate the complete cascade reaction in one pot, under mild conditions, starting from ethylene. Our study expands the utility of cost‐effective zeolite‐based catalysts enriched with abundant Fe metal for the one‐pot oxidative cleavage of C=C double bonds, offering a promising pathway towards sustainable carboxylic acid synthesis. The stability of catalyst layers and membranes in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) cells represents an ongoing challenge, compounded by the dissolution of components and migration of elements within the catalyst‐coated membrane (CCM). Conventional microscopy methods often struggle to efficiently evaluate large cross‐sections of PEMWE membranes, which is essential for representative analysis of technical scale CCMs. Herein, synchrotron radiation‐based X‐Ray fluorescence microscopy is exploited to analyze the stability of CCMs with around 1 μm resolution and a field of view of ≈200 × 75 μm2. Three application scenarios are investigated: 1) migration of catalyst elements, 2) dissolution of components, and 3) contaminated water supply containing Fe2+$\left(\text{Fe}\right)^{2 +}$ ions. XRF is performed at three different X‐Ray energies (11.7, 11.4, and 11.0 keV), revealing the local elemental composition, including Pt, Ir, Ti, and Fe, under different stressing conditions. Notable observations include the distribution of Ir across the membrane and in the cathode catalyst layer, localization of Pt within the membrane, accumulation of Ti in the cathode catalyst layer, and minimal presence of Fe. XRF has been demonstrated to be a powerful analytical tool for accurate and high throughput imaging of catalyst degradation in PEMWE scenarios, particularly of technical scale devices. Under DAPHNE4NFDI, the X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) reference database, RefXAS, has been set up. For this purpose, we developed a method to enable users to submit a raw dataset, with its associated metadata, via a dedicated website for inclusion in the database. Implementation of the database includes an upload of metadata to the scientific catalogue and an upload of files via object storage, with automated query capabilities through a web server and visualization of the data and files. Based on the mode of measurements, quality criteria have been formulated for the automated check of any uploaded data. In the present work, the significant metadata fields for reusability, as well as reproducibility of results (FAIR data principles), are discussed. Quality criteria for the data uploaded to the database have been formulated and assessed. Moreover, the usability and interoperability of available XAS data/file formats have been explored. The first version of the RefXAS database prototype is presented, which features a human verification procedure, currently being tested with a new user interface designed specifically for curators; a user‐friendly landing page; a full list of datasets; advanced search capabilities; a streamlined upload process; and, finally, a server‐side automatic authentication and (meta‐) data storage via MongoDB, PostgreSQL and (data‐) files via relevant APIs. Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) to propene is an important alternative to oil-based cracking processes, to produce this industrially important platform chemical.sup.1,2. The commercial PDH technologies utilizing Cr-containing (refs. .sup.3,4) or Pt-containing (refs. .sup.5-8) catalysts suffer from the toxicity of Cr(vi) compounds or the need to use ecologically harmful chlorine for catalyst regeneration.sup.9. Here, we introduce a method for preparation of environmentally compatible supported catalysts based on commercial ZnO. This metal oxide and a support (zeolite or common metal oxide) are used as a physical mixture or in the form of two layers with ZnO as the upstream layer. Supported ZnO.sub.x species are in situ formed through a reaction of support OH groups with Zn atoms generated from ZnO upon reductive treatment above 550 °C. Using different complementary characterization methods, we identify the decisive role of defective OH groups for the formation of active ZnO.sub.x species. For benchmarking purposes, the developed ZnO-silicalite-1 and an analogue of commercial K-CrO.sub.x/Al.sub.2O.sub.3 were tested in the same setup under industrially relevant conditions at close propane conversion over about 400 h on propane stream. The developed catalyst reveals about three times higher propene productivity at similar propene selectivity. CeO2‐supported noble metal clusters are attractive catalytic materials for several applications. However, their atomic dispersion under oxidizing reaction conditions often leads to catalyst deactivation. In this study, the noble metal cluster formation threshold is rationally adjusted by using a mixed CeO2‐Al2O3 support. The preferential location of Pd on CeO2 islands leads to a high local surface noble metal concentration and promotes the in situ formation of small Pd clusters at a rather low noble metal loading (0.5 wt %), which are shown to be the active species for CO conversion at low temperatures. As elucidated by complementary in situ/operando techniques, the spatial separation of CeO2 islands on Al2O3 confines the mobility of Pd, preventing the full redispersion or the formation of larger noble metal particles and maintaining a high CO oxidation activity at low temperatures. In a broader perspective, this approach to more efficiently use the noble metal can be transferred to further systems and reactions in heterogeneous catalysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

L3‐edge high‐energy‐resolution fluorescence‐detection X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) spectra for palladium and rhodium compounds are presented, with focus on their electronic structures. The data are compared with transmission XANES spectra recorded at the K‐edge. A correlation between the absorption edge energy and the metal ion oxidation state is not observed. Despite the different filling of the 4d orbitals and different local coordination, the Rh and Pd compounds show remarkably similar spectral shapes. Calculation of the density of states and of the L3‐XANES data reproduce the experimental results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
