Abstract Objectives: to identify dietary patterns (DP) ofpostpartum women and to evaluate the effect of food insecurity, age, and level of schooling on unhealthy DP. Methods: Cohort carried out by non-probabilistic consecutive sampling process in a city in the Northeast region in Brazil, between 2017-2018. From the food frequency questionnaires, DP were derived by principal component analysis in the 3rd (n=207), 6th (n=195), and 12th month (n=183) postpartum. The associations between DP and the independent variables were investigated using mixed effects logistic regression model. Results: two dietary patterns were identified: predominantly healthy DP (PHDP) and predominantly ultra-processed DP (PUPDP). It was found that the higher the age (OR= 0.92; CI95%= 0.85-0.99; p=0.031) and the level of schooling (OR= 0.81; CI95%= 0.70-0.93; p=0.003), the lower the chance of adherence to PUPDP. Families with some level of food insecurity were more likely to adhere to PUPDP (OR= 1.55; CI95%= 1.01-2.37;p=0.044). Conclusion: adherence to PUPDP increases with the level of food insecurity. The higher age and level of schooling decrease adherence to this DP. These findings provide support for the association between food insecurity, age and education with adherence to PUPDP, suggesting the needfor effective measures to ensure food security, particularly for vulnerable populations.

The shorthorn sculpin (Myoxocephalus scorpius) is considered a suitable sentinel species for marine pollution in the Arctic due to its ecology and stationary habits. To evaluate its role as a bioindicator for potential natural and anthropic impacts on the marine ecosystem of the Kongsfjorden (Svalbard, Norwegian Arctic), 33 female and male specimens of shorthorn sculpins were collected in July 2018 in proximity of the Ny-Ålesund international research facility and analyzed for the content of 25 major and trace elements and methylmercury (MeHg) in the muscle, liver, gonads, and gills by using spectroscopic techniques. Most elements had their maximum average concentrations in the gills (Al, Cr, Fe, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, Se, Si, Sr, and V), while the livers featured higher contents of some toxic and heavy metals (As, Cd, Cu, Mo, and Zn). The muscle was characterized by high contents of Ca, K, and Mg, while Ba, Co, and P were mostly concentrated in the gonads. The gonads presented higher concentrations of Cr, K, Mg, Ni, P, and V for the males and Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Se for the females. Both the total Hg and MeHg concentrations in the muscle correlated with the fish size, indicating bioaccumulation, although high Se/Hg molar ratios (11.0 ± 2.2) suggested a low toxic potential of mercury.

This study addresses the urgent issue of toxic language, prevalent on social media platforms, focusing on the detection of toxic comments on popular Italian Facebook pages. We build upon the framework suggested by the LiLaH project: a standardized framework for analyzing hateful content in multiple languages, including Dutch, English, French, Slovene, and Croatian. We start by examining the linguistic features of Italian toxic language on social media. Our analysis reveals that toxic comments in Italian tend to be longer and have fewer unique emojis compared to non-toxic comments, while both exhibit similar lexical diversity. To evaluate the impact of linguistic features on state-of-the-art models’ performance, we fine-tune three pre-trained language models (PoliBERT, UmBERTo, and bert-base-italian-xxl-uncased). Despite their significant correlation with comments’ toxicity, the inclusion of linguistic features worsens the best model’s performance.

Este artigo trata-se de uma pesquisa sobre o Currículo de Referência Único do Acre de Excelência para Todos especificamente a parte da Educação Infantil (CRUA/EI), que teve como sustentação a Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), brasileira. Foram analisados estes dois documentos, a Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (9394/96) e as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a Educação Infantil (2009). Metodologicamente, a pesquisa caracteriza-se como abordagem qualitativa, exploratória, a qual contou com levantamento de teses, dissertações e artigos disponíveis no Banco de dados da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Nível Superior (CAPES). Para análise dos dados, foi utilizada Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin (1977), em que foram elaboradas, a posteriori as categorias centrais e intermediárias. Os resultados demonstram que o CRUA/EI atende o que é indicado na BNCC. Este Currículo, sob a ótica de Sacristán (2000), caracteriza-se como um currículo prescritivo. Quanto a participação da comunidade na sua construção, não foram abertos espaços de discussões nas fases iniciais e, percebemos que quando aberta a participação só foi possível por meio da consulta on-line. Foi constatada mesmo que de forma limitada a predominância da participação da equipe Secretaria Municipal de Educação do Município de Rio Branco (SEME). Assim, constatamos que o processo de construção do (CRUA-EI) ocorreu de forma aligeirada. O documento deixou de lado a concepção democrática em sua formulação.

Abstract Objectives: evaluate the relationship between family’s food and nutrition insecurity (FNI) and the social network of malnourished children. Methods: cross-sectional study with 92 children, included in the economic class D-E. For the analysis of the children’s social network, the mothers answered four simple questions. Abstract Anthropogenic microparticles (AMs) were found for the first time in specimens of Trematomus bernacchii collected in 1998 in the Ross Sea (Antarctica) and stored in the Antarctic Environmental Specimen Bank. Most of the identified AMs were fibers of natural and synthetic origin. The natural AMs were cellulosic, the synthetic ones were polyester, polypropylene, polypropylene/polyester, and cellulose acetate. The presence of dyes in the natural AMs indicates their anthropogenic origin. Five industrial dyes were identified by Raman spectroscopy with Indigo occurring in most of them (55%). Our research not only adds further data to the ongoing knowledge of pollution levels in the Antarctic ecosystem, it provides an interesting snapshot of the past, highlighting that microplastics and anthropogenic fiber pollution had already entered the Antarctic marine food web at the end of the ‘90 s. These findings therefore establish the foundations for understand the changes in marine litter pollution over time.
