Adolescence is characterized by intense developmental changes. To manage these changes, individuals must acquire a set of coping strategies and social skills that support their quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of psychosocial factors on the quality of life of adolescents. This is a cross-sectional, observational quantitative study conducted in private schools in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The study included 99 adolescents with an average age of 14.4 (± 1.9) years old. Most teenagers were male (53.5%) and white (77.8%). A sociodemographic questionnaire was applied and also the Youth Quality of Life - Research Version (YQOL-R). The study shows evidence that having a family member who has a physical and/or mental illness that requires therapeutic support reduces students' scores in the Personal and Relational domains, on average, 11.7 and 10.9 points. Students who have already undergone mental health treatment have their scores in the Relational and Environmental domains reduced, on average, by 7.4 and 13.7 points (p<0.05). The quality of life of adolescents is linked to individual and social well-being, and research in this area reveals factors that influence their well-being, allowing actions to promote their development.
