Engineering education by its nature is a costly program in university environments. Perhaps the most costly component is the laboratory facility, usually consisting of specialized equipment. Effective instruction of some topics in power engineering education requires experience with actual equipment, rather than small-scale replicas or simulation. In this paper, a new laboratory approach is described, as implemented in a virtual, Internet-based, experimentation platform. This virtual laboratory (VLab) utilizes real equipment distributed among multiple universities from which remotely located students can perform experiments. The software solution is a multiuser, client-server architecture developed in the LabVIEW environment. Implementation details including video, chat, archiving, and the hardware and software platforms are presented in the paper. An example presented herein is the study of current and voltage waveforms while controlling relays and low-voltage contactors. The applications have been tested with student teams enrolled in the electrical engineering department of Politehnica University of Bucharest and the power engineering program at Arizona State University. Current computerized technologies introduced into dental prosthetics use 3D imaging, simulation systems, virtual reality. The virtual reality system, based on haptic technology, is a new instrument in the teaching process, still developing. The necessity to implement virtual reality technology has emerged from the fact that medical practice has been restricted to patients in recent years. Virtual reality systems have been introduced in order to practice certain clinical maneuvers and to acquire specific skills. Actual, virtual technology is at the stage where offers advanced simulations to users by combining visual and tactile response. E-learning platforms have been introduced in the curricula of various prestigious universities, in recent years and becoming an auxiliary learning tool for traditional teaching methods. E-learning offers systematized access to speciality information in dental prosthetics field, being a method of continuous professional training. The e-learning strategy relies on the correlation between IT support, platform scientific content and user motivation. The finalization of the e-learning platform required the implementation of the components: technology, previously established, platform design and informational content. The clear concept of the platform offers the possibility of distributing specialized knowledges, constituting itself as a learning process. The platform design required an organized model, easy to access and to follow. Introducing the e-learning platform for learning, assessment and continuous medical training in dental prosthetics is a complementary instrument meant to improve the educational process. The E-learning offers efective access to information, new methods for training, learning and knowledge assessment, professional training and represents an alternative to education in today's computerized society. The virtual reality technologies can be included into the e-learning system, according to specialized studies. At present education system is in a period of transition from traditional to digital and virtual. Out of the benefits of using the 3D technologies in education, we name: 3D virtual learning solutions involving students in the learning process, helping them to understand faster various concepts, to remember knowledge; access to technology; complete the learning experience.
