In this study, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of Eutrichosiphum pasaniae through Illumina platform. The circular mitogenome is 16,500 bp in length and composed of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), a large control region and a special repeat region. The nucleotide composition of whole mitogenome is strongly AT-biased (85.5%). All PCGs start with ATN and end with TAA except for cox1 which terminates with an incomplete stop codon T. All tRNAs have a typical clover-leaf secondary structure except for trnS (AGN). The lengths of rrnL, rrnS and control region are 1276, 774 and 996 bp, respectively. The repeat region with a length of 909 bp is located between trnE and trnF and consists of 4.1 repeat units. The phylogenetic tree supports the sister relationship of Eutrichosiphum pasaniae and Greenidea psidii.

Two new species, Eutrichosiphum nasensissp. nov. and Greenidea kheemoticolasp. nov., and two new records, Greenidea eugeniae Takahashi 1941 and Schoutedenia ralumensis Rubsaamen 1905, belonging to the subfamily Greenideinae Baker 1920 are described from Laos. E. nasensissp. nov. is distinguished by unique abdominal pigmentation and the relative length of ultimate rostral segment and 2nd tarsal segment. G. kheemoticolasp. nov. is characterized by the relative length of siphunculus and the maximum width of same segment. Illustrations for above 4 species and identification key to all the species from Laos for apterous viviparous females are provided.

A new species of Mollitrichosiphum Suenaga, Mollitrichosiphum tumorisiphum Qiao & Jiang, sp. n., from Fagus longipetiolata in Taiwan island is described. Siphunculi of Mollitrichosiphum tumorisiphum in alatae are distinctly swollen on the distal part, unlike those of the other known species in the genus. Updated keys to apterous and alate viviparous females of all known Chinese species of Mollitrichosiphum are provided. The specimens studied are deposited in the National Zoological Museum of China, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and the Natural History Museum, London, United Kingdom.

Wolbachia are intracellular symbionts that infect a wide range of arthropods and filarial nematodes. Aphids are engaged in diverse and complex relationships with their endosymbionts. Four supergroups (A, B, M and N) of Wolbachia were previously detected in aphids and supergroups M and N were only found in aphids. In this study, we detected and described Wolbachia infections in natural populations of aphids in China. Three supergroups (A, B and M) were found in the examined aphid species. Supergroup M was preponderant, whereas supergroups A and B were only detected in certain species. Supergroup N was not found in this study. There were four infection patterns of Wolbachia in aphids, namely, infection with supergroup M alone, co-infection with supergroups A and M, co-infection with supergroups B and M, and co-infection with supergroups A, B and M. The pattern of infection only with supergroup M was universal and was found in all evaluated subfamilies. Only two subfamilies, Aphidinae and Lachninae, manifested to present all four infection patterns. Three patterns were observed in Calaphidinae (M, A&M, B&M) and Eriosomatinae (M, B&M, A&B&M). Two patterns were observed in the Anoeciinae (M, A&M) and Greenideinae (M, B&M), and only one pattern (M) was observed in the remaining families and/or subfamilies of Aphidoidea. These results indicated that Wolbachia infections in Chinese aphids are widespread. Phylogenetic analyses suggest that Wolbachia supergroup M spread rapidly and recently among all host species of aphids in China. Reasons for this spread and its mechanisms are discussed along with the possible effects of Wolbachia on their aphid hosts.

The genus Mesotrichosiphum Calilung, an endemic southeastern Asian group, is reviewed to include Mesotrichosiphum pentaiarticulatum Zhang and Qiao, sp. nov. from China (Hainan). The generic diagnosis is supplemented in here, and a key is given to all species worldwide. Some hitherto unknown morphs of Mesotrichosiphum are described. New data on distributions and host plants are reported for the genus. The type specimens are deposited in Zoology Museum, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Greenidea (Trichosiphum) psidii van der Goot 1916 is recorded for the first time in Costa Rica and Central America. The species has been recorded on Psidium guajava, Psidium friedrichst halianum and Myrciaria cauliflora and seems to be widely distributed in all parts of the country and probably in all Central America. In recent years, several species of aphids of tropical or subtropical origins are being found outside their native range. The reasons for the accidental introduction and subsequent establishment of these aphids in new territories remain obscure. In most cases the accidental introduction of these rather small and cryptic species are often linked to human activities (such as international trade of plants and plant products) but other factors such as global warming may aid in the dispersal of such organisms.
