Insects are promising alternatives to meet the world population's demand for high-quality foods and to overcome important issues in animal farming practices. Novel and green biorefinery processes must be applied to insects, overcoming chemically based techniques. Eco-friendly approaches increase the nutritional value of insects, widening the commercial applications. This review addresses the rearing practices and nutritional composition of Tenebrio molitor, highlighting the green methodologies that can be applied to obtain value-added compounds, replacing unsustainable practices. Also, useful applications of pre-treated T. molitor biomass are presented with a thoughtful insight into their advantages and limitations. The nutritional richness of T. molitor is being successfully explored by resorting to physical and biological procedures, resulting in valuable compounds for food, feeding, and biomedical and biotechnological industries. Novel ingredients and additives of insect origin may upgrade food and feed formulation, while chitosan of T. molitor origin may upgrade the packaging industries of food and feed. The threat of environmental degradation caused by production activities is growing worldwide owing to the unsustainable behavior of firms. Environmental legislation plays a central role in developing firms' conservation-oriented and nature-friendly behavior. Limited literature is available on how environmental legislation affects firms' nature-friendly behavior and adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. This research presents an empirical investigation into the intricate interplay between ecological commitment, environmental knowledge, firms' nature-friendly behavior, and the adoption of environmental technologies within organizations. Moreover, the study examines the moderating role of environmental law between firms' nature-friendly behavior and the adoption of environmental technologies. Data were collected from 401 firms through face-to-face and online surveys during the pandemic in China. The study used Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the collected data. The results show significant associations between ecological commitment (ß = 0.421, p<0.01), environmental knowledge (ß = 0.301, p<0.01) and firms' naturefriendly behavior. The findings also reveal that a firm's nature-friendly behavior (ß = 0.271, p<0.01) positively influences its adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. Similarly, environmental law positively and significantly moderates the relationship between firms' nature-friendly behavior and the adoption of environmental technologies. Therefore, firms should align their values and operations with ecological commitment, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility that permeates all levels of the organization. Crop diseases significantly threaten agricultural productivity, leading to unstable food supply and economic losses. The current approaches to automated crop disease recognition face challenges such as limited datasets, restricted coverage of disease types, and inefficient feature extraction, which hinder their generalization across diverse crops and disease patterns. To address these challenges, we propose an efficient data augmentation method to enhance the performance of deep learning models for crop disease recognition. By constructing a new large-scale dataset comprising 24 different classes, including both fruit and leaf samples, we intend to handle a variety of disease patterns and improve model generalization capabilities. Geometric transformations and color space augmentation techniques are applied to validate the efficiency of deep learning models, specifically convolution and transformer models, in recognizing multiple crop diseases. The experimental results show that these augmentation techniques improve classification accuracy, achieving F1 scores exceeding 98%. Feature map analysis further confirms that the models effectively capture key disease characteristics. This study underscores the importance of data augmentation in developing automated, energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable crop disease detection solutions, contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices. Cellulose-based sorbents are promising materials for wastewater treatment due to their environmental friendliness, biodegradability, and high sorption capacity. This paper presents an overview of cellulose modification methods, including carboxylation, amination, oxidation, graphene, and plasma treatments, as well as combined approaches. Their effect on key physicochemical properties, such as porosity, morphology, and chemical stability, is considered. Examples from the literature confirm the effectiveness of modified cellulose sorbents in removing heavy metal ions and organic pollutants from wastewater. The analysis shows that combined methods allow for creating materials with improved characteristics that are resistant to extreme operating conditions. The main advantages and disadvantages of cellulose sorbents, as well as challenges associated with their scalability and cost-effectiveness, are discussed. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the advancements and challenges of anaerobic digestion technology in waste stream treatment plants under the framework of the circular economy, emphasizing its role in achieving "dual carbon" goals. As climate change intensifies, with waste stream treatment contributing significantly to global emissions, there is a pressing need to optimize energy efficiency and reduce carbon outputs in this sector. Anaerobic digestion is highlighted as a solution for converting organic waste into renewable biogas and digestate, enabling energy self-sufficiency and reducing greenhouse gasses. The study highlights that anaerobic digestion enables the conversion of organic waste into renewable biogas and nutrient-rich digestate, facilitating energy self-sufficiency and significant reductions in GHG emissions. Successful implementations, such as in Weifang, China, demonstrate the feasibility of upgrading biogas into biomethane for local energy use. Advanced technologies like bioelectrochemical methanation and membrane bioreactors enhance biogas production efficiency, while co-digestion proves effective even in challenging conditions. Despite these advancements, the review identifies critical challenges, including high investment costs, technical inefficiencies, and regulatory barriers, particularly in developing countries. This study provides insights into integrating anaerobic digestion with circular economy principles and offers a foundation for future policies and research aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and sustainable waste management. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and risks associated with investing in the green economy. Key sectors examined include renewable energy (solar, wind, and bioenergy), sustainable agriculture, electric vehicles, energy efficiency technologies, waste management, and carbon capture solutions. The analysis explores how these sectors are benefiting from global trends such as climate change mitigation policies, corporate commitments to carbon neutrality, technological innovations, and growing consumer demand for sustainable products and services. On the opportunity side, investors stand to gain from significant market growth, government incentives, and regulatory frameworks such as carbon pricing and renewable energy targets. For example, renewable energy is becoming more cost-competitive with fossil fuels, and electric vehicle sales are projected to rise as countries phase out internal combustion engines. The relationship between the practices and initiatives governing "waste production models" (sustainable development goal [SDG]12) and marine biodiversity goals (SDG14) is relatively unexplored. Aiming to bridge this gap by drawing on stakeholder and legitimacy theories, this study examines onboard cruise ships' circular economy (CE)‐based waste management practices and initiatives, correlating SGDs 12 and 14. Consequently, Carnival Corporation Plc's 2020–2022 sustainability reports are analyzed using content analysis by both Leximancer software (ver. 5.0) and manual methods. The results highlight the corporation's increasing commitment to green technologies for "waste production models" to achieve SDG14. However, its sustainability reports provide unclear evidence of the impact on marine biodiversity. Findings implies that practitioners should partner and invest in green technologies for "waste production models" to achieve SDG14. Besides being the first to explore the link between the two SDGs within the CE framework, this study advances insights into waste management within "waste production models," enhancing the understanding of sustainable practices. The green transformation of the country’s economy is a crucial process for the sustainable development of spatial socio-natural systems. This transformation is closely linked to the broader process of digitalizing the economy. However, the introduction of green technologies into Russian industries is uneven, as shown by the analysis of the representation of advanced green manufacturing technologies in different regions. This analysis has revealed a lack of using green technologies and a low number of regions that generate these technologies. Despite this, there are prerequisites for the successful implementation of green technologies in certain regions of Russia, and leading regions for the adoption of the most significant green production technologies have been alternatives to green transformation through the adoption of nature-based technologies are also discussed.

Abstract Climate change is a paramount problem for humanity, representing a substantial danger to all living organisms. Industrialization, a vital factor for economic progress, has resulted in global warming, posing a threat to the long-term viability of our ecosystem. Currently, a wide range of techniques and technologies are being used to guarantee the preservation of the environment for future generations. This study employed data from the Scopus database to do topic modeling. Authors used latent Dirichlet allocation to extract research themes related to environmental sustainability from a corpus of 4023 research articles published between 1976 and 2022. By utilizing clustering methodologies to analyze the collection of words, Authors successfully forecasted two, five, and ten study subjects, emphasizing specific domains that necessitate additional investigation by scholars. Based on coherence ratings, five subjects have been identified as prospective study areas requiring further scientific exploration. The results of our research emphasize the significance of incorporating environmentally-friendly technologies in different industries to promote a long-lasting and eco-friendly ecosystem. In addition, authors recommend prioritizing implementing sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies, improving the management of ecosystems, encouraging water conservation, promoting agricultural advancements, and advancing renewable energy resources as crucial strategies for protecting the environment and enhancing ecological conditions. This analysis illuminates current research trends in environmental sustainability and potential pathways for future investigation and intervention.

Olive oil production and consumption has been increasing due to its organoleptic properties and health benefits. Consequently, waste generation also raised leading to environmental concerns. Nevertheless, this waste contains high amounts of bioactive compounds with potential to be extracted, recovered, and applied, following circular economy policies. New extractive technologies, especially green ones, are important for the success of this venture. This review focuses on the olive oil production chain, from the tree to olive oil and the respective waste/by-products, presenting and discussing emergent and green methodologies to recover and give new life to bioactive compounds that are usually discarded. Oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol, and other related compounds are molecules with important biological activities. They can be recovered in high concentrations through such technologies and used successfully in different industries to meet the sustainability and circular economy principles of the chain. This study investigates the dynamic effect of resource productivity and green technologies on renewable energy (RE) use in 28 middle‐income countries from 2006 to 2022 using MMQR, QR and causality techniques. Results suggested that green technology innovation substantially influences RE use. Second, the significant positive coefficients show that resource productivity leads to higher RE consumption at the upper quantile due to decoupling Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth from extracting natural resources, indicating a transition towards more sustainable and efficient practices. This paper addresses the gaps in understanding green regional path development and the role of firm-level agency in driving regional green transitions. By analysing a large patent dataset covering 30 years, we provide a systematic account of green regional path development in 70 regions across four Nordic countries. We identify six types of green path development – extension, stagnation, extinction, diversification, renewal and creation – and explore how different types of organisations – incumbents and new entrants – contribute to these paths. This study highlights the main concerns regarding firms' carbon accounting and decarbonization practices. Under institutional, legitimacy and stakeholder theories, this study analyses the linkages between carbon accounting outputs and integrated reporting (IR), as well as between disclosure assurance systems in the transition towards net‐zero business models (n‐ZBMs). This study emphasizes the awareness of accounting tools to be considered environmental and social measures due to decarbonization practices. This study developed a systematic literature review (SLR) of 433 English articles published in Scopus database and Google Scholar between the years 1990 and 2024. It is a consolidated methodological approach in the 'sustainability accounting' research field to fill the existing gaps that justify this study. The results of this study highlight that IR and carbon accounting awareness enhance firms' performance and have positive social and environmental impacts with the adoption of decarbonization practices towards n‐ZBMs through an improved understanding of stakeholders and regulatory pressures. This study is the first to explore the relationship between carbon accounting awareness and IR about the decarbonization practices, as well as the role of assurance in the transition for n‐ZBMs. This study tries to move from the concept of legitimacy of the decarbonization practices that firms aim to achieve through sustainable disclosure to the legitimacy of business models towards net‐zero emissions. Electronic waste (e-waste) contains valuable rare earth elements (REEs) essential for various high-tech applications, making their recovery crucial for sustainable resource management. This review provides an overview of the occurrence of REEs in e-waste and discusses both conventional and emerging green technologies for their recovery. Conventional methods include physical separation, hydrometallurgy, and pyrometallurgy, while innovative approaches such as bioleaching, supercritical fluid extraction, ionic liquid extraction, and lanmodulin-derived peptides offer improved environmental sustainability and efficiency. The article presents case studies on the extraction of REEs from waste permanent magnets and fluorescent powders, highlighting the specific processes involved. Future research should focus on developing eco-friendly leaching agents, separation materials, and process optimization to enhance the overall sustainability and efficiency of REE recovery from e-waste, addressing both resource recovery and environmental concerns effectively. Inorganic arsenic (As), a known carcinogen and major contaminant in drinking water, affects over 140 million people globally, with levels exceeding the World Health Organization's (WHO) guidelines of 10 μg L−1. Developing innovative technologies for effluent handling and decontaminating polluted water is critical. This paper summarizes the fundamental characteristics of chitosan-embedded composites for As adsorption from water. The primary challenge in selectively removing As ions is the presence of phosphate, which is chemically similar to As(V). This study evaluates and summarizes innovative As adsorbents based on chitosan and its composite modifications, focusing on factors influencing their adsorption affinity. The kinetics, isotherms, column models, and thermodynamic aspects of the sorption processes were also explored. Finally, the adsorption process and implications of functionalized chitosan for wastewater treatment were analyzed. There have been minimal developments in water disinfection using metal-biopolymer composites for environmental purposes. This field of study offers numerous research opportunities to expand the use of biopolymer composites as detoxifying materials and to gain deeper insights into the foundations of biopolymer composite adsorbents, which merit further investigation to enhance adsorbent stability. Sustainable supply chain has garnered significant attention in recent years as a means of addressing various ecological and social challenges. Today, companies consistently grapple with higher levels of potential supply chain risks in their sustainable operations due to the uncertainty of the business environment. It is imperative for firms to implement effective sustainable supply chain strategies to mitigate the adverse consequences of these potential risks on overall performance. This article delves into an inventory model designed to formulate supply chain policies in scenarios where the quantity of carbon emissions is unknown, along with potential risks. The aim of the study is to outline potential risks in the supply chain and investigate their impact, especially the effects of uncertain carbon data, on supply chain strategies. To address the uncertainty of carbon parameters throughout the system process, we apply fuzzification to all carbon factors, treating them as intuitionistic triangular fuzzy numbers. The model is then defuzzified using the signed distance method. And we propose a solution approach designed to determine green ecological policies. Numerical analysis is provided to validate the proposed model. The main numerical conclusions drawn from this study in the ecological context are threefold: (i) effective control of carbon emissions from supply chain processes can be achieved through strategic investments in green technologies, (ii) there exists a potential to minimize total cost, and (iii) an assessment of the effects of human errors during inspection on optimal strategies. The results underscore a crucial consideration for policymakers, emphasizing the need for exercising caution when contemplating flexibility in accounting for the quantity of carbon emissions during the development of environmental strategies.

The research examines the prospects for using the potential of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine to study green technology innovations during economic development under martial law. Based on the study, it is proved that technological innovations in the agricultural sector contribute to economic development and improve the quality of agricultural land. The article analyses the successful implementation of the case of LLC Yuzhef-Mykolayiv Biogas Company, which has successfully restructured the production of a sugar plant and produces biogas and digestate with further processing into electricity and fertiliser. The modern capacities of the studied enterprise are highlighted, which allow to produce 2800 m3 of biogas and ensure the production of 5200 kWh of electricity, while consumption does not exceed 150 kW, at a load of 80%. The volume of digestate produced per year is 100,000 tonnes. In the regional context, innovative environmental technologies aimed at improving the quality of agricultural land have been introduced. An effective mechanism of spatial synergy with adaptation of this practice at most sugar factories through restructuring of production - creation of biogas production facilities on the basis of sugar factories - is proposed. As a long-term development perspective, the paper presents further creation of alcohol production facilities to use excess heat energy from mini-thermal power plants for the production of alcohol and bioethanol. Furthermore, this study confirms the non-linear effect of economic development; a significant result shows that the impact of green technology innovations on improving the quality of agricultural land (soil humus content, amount of mineral and organic fertilisers, pesticides, area of land under organic production, etc.) contributes to the increase in the level of regional economic development of the agricultural sector. The article clarifies the intermediary role of economic development of the agro-industrial complex. The results of the study implement the tasks of sustainable development, such as improving the environment through the innovation of green technologies and achieving regional synergy in green development.

Introduction. The paper substantiates the relevance of creating and improving digital tools for complex scientific research and development work based on the information model of a construction object at all stages of the life cycle. The research focuses on environmentally safe (green) construction in the northern and Arctic regions. The purpose of the study is to substantiate a set of criteria for “green” for the northern and Arctic regions of the Russian Federation on the basis of logically interrelated models: a design model, a full-scale model, mathematical models and a digital twin model. The main criteria include energy efficiency and environmental safety of buildings.Materials and methods. The objects of the study are two twin buildings designed and built according to the programme of scientific research in the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk region. The objects are identical, but the conditions of their functioning are different. The methodology of complex scientific research for each stage of the life cycle of objects is proposed. The methods of comparative analysis and the method of expert assessments were used, as well as the methods presented in the normative and technical documents of the technical regulation system of the Russian Federation related to the technological aspects of construction.Results. Four groups of basic construction criteria for the northern and Arctic regions of the Russian Federation are defined: external environment; internal environment; materials and technologies; energy efficiency. The Research Information Model (RIM) was developed as a tool for comprehensive scientific research in the field of construction technologies in the northern and Arctic regions. The practical implementation of the results of the study at the two above-mentioned facilities, including digital monitoring of the condition of the facilities for two years (2021–2023), is considered. Prospects for the continuation of the research are determined.Conclusions. The necessity of the development is justified and the expediency of using the developed information model of research is confirmed by the example of two constructed objects. The experience of using the main blocks of the model and digital monitoring of the condition of objects for two years has confirmed the expediency of using information modelling and continuing research to improve construction technologies in the northern and Arctic regions.

The textile industry contributes significantly to the expansion of the world economy, however, it is also notorious for producing large amounts of trash and harming the environment. Effective waste management techniques depend on having a thorough understanding of the forms and makeup of waste from the textile sector. The objective of this paper is to study effluent wastewater technologies to efficiently treat and control the wastewater produced during textile production operations. It is well known that the textile industry generates vast amounts of wastewater, some of which may be contaminated with heavy metals, chemicals, dyes, and organic compounds. This effluent can have serious negative effects on the environment if it is not adequately treated, including contaminating soil and water sources, removing aquatic life, and possibly endangering human health. Due to the inclusion of dyes, heavy metals, and other chemicals, the discharge of untreated or improperly treated effluent from textile processes leads to water contamination. Textile waste can leak hazardous compounds into the environment and contaminate the soil, both of which have an impact on air quality. The environmental impact of the textile industry is further exacerbated by the energy and resource use involved in production. At several points in the textile supply chain, waste is generated. Fibre trimmings, fly waste, and yarn waste are produced during the fibre production, spinning, and weaving operations. There are numerous ways and technologies for treating wastewater, including advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), biological treatment systems, and membrane-based technologies. The formation of eco-friendly materials and advancements in recycling technology help to make the textile industry more closed-loop and sustainable. The estimated results from cross-sectional autoregressive distributive lag (CS-ARDL) presents that the influence of green technologies, human capital, and renewable energy significantly protects the environment. On the other hand, economic complexity damages the environment in the long run. Furthermore, the evidence confirms that the interactive role of renewable energy consumption is also beneficial to protect the environment. Besides, the interactive role of green technologies and renewable energy consumption significantly protect the environment in the BRICS region. From a policy perspective, this study advocates that it is crucial to accelerate green technological innovations in BRICS economies, including the regulatory policies encouraging an incessant upsurge in the share of green technologies, renewable energy consumption, and human capital into environmental technological progress. This paper discussed how green technological domains are inserted into the Brazilian knowledge space. We investigated whether the insertion of technologies into the Brazilian knowledge space is affected by the fact that these technologies are green or non-green, the potential moderating effect of the industry knowledge bases with which technologies are associated, and the differences regarding the insertion of green and non-green technology domains across industries. We considered Brazilian patent and industry data from 1997 to 2020 and a multilevel analysis to answer these questions. Our results indicated that green technological domains are intensely combined with other domains, but their structural embeddedness is still low. The characteristics of sectoral knowledge bases influenced the insertion of green technologies into the national knowledge space since these technologies are more deeply embedded in the knowledge space when associated with less mature knowledge bases. The purpose of this work is to assess and analyze the impact of environmental and social factors on enterprise management in the context of the integration of environmental standards and social responsibility into business strategies to ensure sustainable development, as well as to increase competitiveness. In the research, monographic, abstract-logical methods, as well as systematization and generalization were applied. The article examines the impact of environmental and social factors on business management strategies, considering their importance in the need to ensure the sustainable development of business and corporate responsibility. The methods and tools of the integration of green technologies, sustainable production and corporate social responsibility into the practice of strategic management have been examined. The particularities of the implementation of these management strategies in various business sectors are considered based on their contribution to the formation of competitive advantage and the promotion of investment attraction. It has been shown that in economic systems in which consumers are increasingly aware of the importance of environmental and social issues, enterprises must actively adapt to these changes, using them as an opportunity for their own development and innovation. It has been demonstrated that the implementation of the environmental component is capable of reducing costs due to the reduction in payment for carbon emissions, the requirements for which will be strengthened in the coming years. At the same time, integration of the social component into business management contributes to the formation of the social capital of the enterprise and leads to an increase in the productivity and effectiveness of the work of the employees. Nanoplasmonic materials concentrate light in specific regions of dramatic electromagnetic enhancement: hot spots. Such regions can be employed to perform single molecule detection via surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy. However, this phenomenon is challenging since hot spots are expected to be highly intense/abundant and positioning of molecules within such hot spots is crucial to manage with ultrasensitive SERS. Herein, it is discovered that a 3D plasmonic web embedded within a biohybrid (3D‐POWER) exhibits plasmonic transmission, spontaneously absorbs the analyte, and meets these so much needed criteria in ultrasensitive SERS. 3D‐POWER is built with nanopaper and self‐assembled layers of graphene oxide and gold nanorods. According to in silico experiments, 3D‐POWER captures light in a small region and performs plasmonic field transmission in a surrounding volume, thereby activating a plasmonic web throughout the simulated volume. The study also provides experimental evidence supporting the plasmonic field transport ability of 3D power, which operates as a SERS signal carrier (even beyond the apparatus field of view), and the ultrasensitive behavior of this ecofriendly and flexible material facilitating yoctomolar limit of detection. Eco-innovation (EI) as a conceptual approach has gained significant momentum in the transition of the manufacturing sector towards sustainability. This paper aims to contribute to the study of the research landscape on EI in the manufacturing industry by applying a bibliometric methodology and identifying prevailing trends and concepts used in academic literature. For this purpose, search engines such as Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) were utilized, along with analytical tools such as Bibliometrix, Microsoft Excel, and Gephi. The search was conducted using equations constructed from keywords deemed relevant to the objective, and the records obtained from the databases were consolidated into a single repository for joint analysis using the RStudio platform. The findings revealed an increase in scientific production from 2010 onwards. The analysis identified that the most influential authors, affiliations, and documents primarily originate from Spain, Germany, and China. The key concepts identified are the circular economy, eco-design, and green technologies, which provide a holistic framework for improving efficiency, reducing waste, and mitigating environmental impacts. EI promotes close collaboration between industries to reduce the ecological footprint. Nonetheless, there is a notable gap in research about EI in the shipbuilding industry, necessitating further exploration in the sector.
