Background/Objectives: The present work proposes a mathematical model able to describe the dissolution of poly-disperse drug spherical particles in a solution (Dissolution Rate Test—DRT). DRT is a pivotal test performed in the pharmaceutical field to qualitatively assess drug bioavailability. Methods: The proposed mathematical model relies on the key hallmarks of DRT, such as particle size distribution, solubility, wettability, hydrodynamic conditions in the dissolving liquid of finite dimensions, and possible re-crystallization during the dissolution process. The spherical shape of the drug particles was the only cue simplification applied. Two model drugs were considered to check model robustness: theophylline (both soluble and wettable) and praziquantel (both poorly soluble and wettable). Results: The DRT data analysis within the proposed model allows us to understand that for theophylline, the main resistance to dissolution is due to the boundary layer surrounding drug particles, whereas wettability plays a negligible role. Conversely, the effect of low wettability cannot be neglected for praziquantel. These results are validated by the determination of drug wettability performed while measuring the solid–liquid contact angle on four liquids with decreasing polarities. Moreover, the percentage of drug polarity was determined. Conclusions: The proposed mathematical model confirms the importance of the different physical phenomena leading the dissolution of poly-disperse solid drug particles in a solution. Although a comprehensive mathematical model was proposed and applied, the DRT data of theophylline and praziquantel was successfully fitted by means of just two fitting parameters. A cryogel is a cross-linked polymer network with different properties that are determined by its manufacturing technique. The formation of a cryogel occurs at low temperatures and results in a porous structure whose pore size is affected by thermal conditions. The adjustable pore sizes of cryogels make them attractive for diverse applications. In this study, the influence of the external operational temperature, which affects the cooling and freezing rates, on the production of cryogels with 2% w/w agarose is investigated. Moreover, a mathematical model is developed to simulate the cryogel production process and provide an initial estimate of the pore size within the structure. The predictions of the model, supported by qualitative light microscopy images, demonstrate that cryogels produced at higher process temperatures exhibit larger pore sizes. Moreover, the existence of pore size distribution within the gel structure is confirmed. Finally, stress relaxation tests, coupled with an image analysis, validates that cryogels produced at lower temperatures possess a higher stiffness and slower water release rates. The poor survival of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is due to its aggressive behavior, large heterogeneity, and high risk of recurrence. A comprehensive molecular investigation of this type of breast cancer using high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods may help to elucidate its potential progression and discover biomarkers related to patient survival. In this review, the NGS applications in TNBC research are described. Many NGS studies point to TP53 mutations, immunocheckpoint response genes, and aberrations in the PIK3CA and DNA repair pathways as recurrent pathogenic alterations in TNBC. Beyond their diagnostic and predictive/prognostic value, these findings suggest potential personalized treatments in PD -L1-positive TNBC or in TNBC with a homologous recombination deficit. Moreover, the comprehensive sequencing of large genomes with NGS has enabled the identification of novel markers with clinical value in TNBC, such as AURKA, MYC, and JARID2 mutations. In addition, NGS investigations to explore ethnicity-specific alterations have pointed to EZH2 overexpression, BRCA1 alterations, and a BRCA2-delaAAGA mutation as possible molecular signatures of African and African American TNBC. Finally, the development of long-read sequencing methods and their combination with optimized short-read techniques promise to improve the efficiency of NGS approaches for future massive clinical use. Comparisons of calculated and experimental isotopic compositions of used nuclear fuels can provide valuable information on the quality of nuclear data involved in neutronic calculations. The experimental database used in the present study − containing more than a thousand isotopic ratio measurements for UOX and MOX fuels with burnup ranging from 10 GWd/t up to 85 GWd/t − allowed to investigate 45 isotopic ratios covering a large number of actinides (U, Np, Pu, Am and Cm) and fission products (Nd, Cs, Sm, Eu, Gd, Ru, Ce, Tc, Mo, Ag and Rh). The Integral Data Assimilation procedure implemented in the CONRAD code was used to provide nuclear data trends with realistic uncertainties for Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) applications. Results confirm the quality of the 235U, 239Pu and 241Pu neutron capture cross sections available in the JEFF-3.1.1 library; slight increases of +1.2 ± 2.4%, +0.5 ± 2.2% and +1.2 ± 4.2% are respectively suggested, these all being within the limits of the quoted uncertainties. Additional trends on the capture cross sections were also obtained for other actinides (236U, 238Pu, 240Pu, 242Pu, 241Am, 243Am, 245Cm) and fission products (103Rh, 153Eu, 154Eu) as well as for the 238U(n,2n) and 237Np(n,2n) reactions. Meaningful trends for the cumulative fission yields of 144Ce, 133Cs, 137Cs and 106Ru for the 235U(nth,f) and 239Pu(nth,f) reactions are also reported.

AREVA NC La Hague facility is the first step of the nuclear fuel recycling process implemented in France. The processing of the used fuel is governed by high standards of criticality-safety, and strong expectations on the quality of end-products. From the received used fuel assemblies, the plutonium and the uranium are extracted for further energy production purposes within the years following the reprocessing. Furthermore, the ultimate waste – fission products and minor actinides on the one hand, and hulls and end-pieces on the other hand – is adequately packaged for long term disposal. The used fuel is therefore separated into very different materials, and time scales which come into account may be longer than in some other nuclear fields of activity. Given the variety of the handled nuclear materials, as well as the time scales at stake, the importance given to some radionuclides, and hence to the associated nuclear data, can also be specific to the AREVA NC La Hague plant. A study has thus been led to identify a list of the most important radionuclides for the AREVA NC La Hague plant applications, relying on the running constraints of the facility, and the end-products expectations. The activities at the AREVA NC La Hague plant are presented, and the methodology to extract the most important radionuclides for the reprocessing process is detailed.
