The rivalry between two graphic systems, the Cyrillic alphabet and the Ukrainian Latin alphabet, can be traced throughout the history of the functioning of the Ukrainian language. During the 19th–21st centuries, Ukrainian linguists were continuosly analyzing the question issue of rivalry between Cyrillic and Latin alphabets in the Ukrainian linguoculture. The problem of the functioning of the Ukrainian Latin alphabet in the modern Ukrainian linguistic space during the globalization of English has been reemerged and continues to stir up the scientists. It expands the problematics of Ukrainian linguographic theory and reorients it toward a goal of the de-specifying information on this subject in the both diachronic and synchronic aspects of diachrony and synchrony.

In recent years, both in Russia and other countries, the number of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has increased. The most relevant but still little-studied is the problem of finding and using alternative technologies that could be efficient in educating and raising such children, including their speech habilitation. This article reviews the advances made by Russian and foreign researchers in using alternative communication technologies, as well as provides numerous examples of various modern alternative communication methods and how their systematic dosed use through verbal and non-verbal communication helps to correct many speech and communication-related problems faced by children diagnosed with ASD. The correlation and development of verbal and non-verbal means of communication are considered with an account of the historical context of their interaction. The possibility and appropriateness of using non-verbal communication for educating children having ASD are discussed. A classification of methods and means of alternative communication is introduced. Three systems of alternative communication (gestural, graphic (symbolic), and assistive (hardware and/or software)) are qualitatively described. Their potential for developing speech and communication skills in children with ASD is analyzed. Recommendations for choosing an appropriate means of communication based on the children's initial fine motor skills, primary communication skills (if any), level of visual perception, motivational factors, and interests are presented.

Editorial Visual Identity is a branch of visual identity that refers to the symbolic translation of the personality of publications, products in whose strategy the covers have a special relevance as the main showcase of the content and an essential factor in the marketing of the medium. On the other hand, contemporary branding reveals a significant focus on dynamic identities, a phenomenon that proposes a more flexible use of the features that define their respective graphic programs. In this context, this research seeks to analyze the key features of the Dynamic Visual Identity in the editorial field -Dynamic Editorial Visual Identity (DEVI)- and illustrate this strategy by focusing on the covers of La Luna de Metrópoli (a weekly newspaper supplement that has won multiple awards due to its visual and creative excellence) as a case study. With a sample of 96 pieces designed between 2018 and 2020 -when its printed edition is discontinued-, four variables are analyzed: the changes of the headboard, the design, the contents and the use of rhetorics in the covers (as visual texts). Among its conclusions, the article reveals the important presence of rhetorical figures -and, especially, metaphors- in the identity of a publication defined by the mutability of its headboard and the stylistic heterogeneity of its covers. This paper discusses the graphic system of manuscripts by Konstantin Rychkov (ca. 1910) containing texts in several dialects of Evenki (Tungusic) with Russian translation. The letters г and һ arguably denote voiced velars or post-velars, stops and fricatives alike. The former is only used before front vowels, the latter otherwise. The letter һ is also found quite often in place of the velar nasal. Palatalization is denoted by three means: a dedicated diacritic after the consonant, an umlaut on the vowel, or the vowel і/ы alternation. Russian letters for hissing sibilants were substituted with Latin ones by Rychkov, which might reflect a different (“lisping”) pronounciation. A special diacritic under sibilants and б probably indicates semi-voicing.

Occitan language begins to be written as soon as the XIth century, for literary but also practical socio-economic uses. Therefore, the graphic system inherited from classical latin must be adapted, and new graphems designed, in order to permit a clear notation of new phonems, palatals for instance. It will be dealt in this paper with two examples : the invention during the XIIth century of -ch, -g (FACTU- >fach, fag, MEDIU- >mieg, and of lh nh (FILIA>filha, SENIOR > senher…), and the rapid spreading of those inventions throughout a good part of the occitan linguistic area.

The paper offers a sketch of a typological classification of diacritics, according to their role in the graphic system and their position in writing. The diacritics of the Russian writing are under consideration. The research focuses on the letter ё, highlighting traditions and practices of its use. The survey reveals current trends in the use of ё, based on attitudes of young people to it, and factors that influence the choice of ё when writing in different styles (formal/non-formal) and techniques: handwritten or printed (on the computer/other device). The history of the Breton spelling begins in the Middle Ages, when the language was then a part of the lingua britannica which gives birth too to Welsh and Cornish. For the next period, the one called Middle Breton (1100-1650), the Breton language leaves the traditionnal spelling to adapt, in part, some graphemes borrowed from French. In the course of the XVIIIth century several dictionaries of Breton will be edited, sometimes with the help of the Breton States, and they will have a significant influence. Le Gonidec, at the beginning of the XIXth century, imposes the first modern spelling standard. This standard will be renewed in 1908, 1936 and 1941. This standard is still in use today, despite some flaws which cannot exceed the fact it is as a standard the most in use today : the schools, the public (or not) medias, the public sphere (as the roads and cities signs or as the official forms). That was possible by a strong social pressure (Diwan’s creation, immersives schools, in 1977, or the Public Office of the Breton Language’s creation in 1999).

In the Francoprovençal domain there is not a unitary orthographic system. Several transcriptions have been proposed on a phonetic basis, and the principle of a grammatical and etymological spelling is generally not supported.An orthographic system that takes into account the entire Francoprovençal domain, France, Switzerland and Italy has been proposed by Dominique Stich (1998 ; 1999 ; 2001 ; 2003). It is a morphological and archaic writing system inspired by the French and Occitan systems. We will present this supra-dialectal graphic system which is today called O. R. B., abbreviation of: reference spelling B. In this article we want to clarify the relationships between the different Francoprovençal orthographic systems in use today and to indicate the reasons that can motivate the use of a supra-dialectal orthographic unitary system. We will see samples transcribed in O. R. B. from 18th century Lyonnais texts.By studying the relationships between supra-dialectal writing and the phonological system in the frame of this type of Lyonnais texts, we will be able to propose phonologically inclusive choices in relation to very localized written micro-variations.We will focus particularly on the orthographic transcription and the phonological diasystem of palatal consonants, which are very complex from a phonological point of view in Francoprovençal.
