Reinforced cementoplasty with spindles is a recently introduced technique that is mainly used for pathological fractures or for bone metastases at risk of fracture in locations with shear stresses. The technique is less challenging to perform than percutaneous screw insertion and does not require equipment sterilization. No general anesthetic is required. A small trocar is all that is needed, and sutures are often unnecessary. Reinforced cementoplasty can therefore be considered as a technical evolution of cementoplasty with the simple addition of material within the trocar. (1) Background: 18F-FDG PET/CT diagnostic accuracy for liver metastasis (LM) could be influenced by technical parameters, lesion size, and the patient's covariates. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate these covariates' impact on PET/CT sensitivity. (2) Methods: Consecutive patients with suspected LMs who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT scans were included. PET/CT scans were interpreted visually. The reference standard integrated histopathological and imaging follow-up. Logistic regression modeling and average marginal predictions were used to calculate per-lesion diagnostic performance measures with cluster robust 95% confidence intervals and to assess the covariates' impact on PET/CT sensitivity. (3) Results: We included 192 patients with 330 lesions. 18F-FDG PET/CT exhibited a per-lesion sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of 86%, 79%, 91%, and 69%, respectively. In multivariate analysis, TOF PET/CT exhibited a higher sensitivity than non-TOF PET/CT (91% vs. 78%, p = 0.02). Sensitivity was reduced for lesions < 10 mm compared to larger lesions (56% vs. 93%, p < 0.001). A 5 kg/m2 increase in BMI led to an average 5% sensitivity reduction (p < 0.001). Age, sex, blood glucose level below 11 mmol/L, and liver density did not significantly impact sensitivity (p > 0.05). Context: Hamstring muscle injury location using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is not so well described in the literature. Objective: To describe the location of hamstring injuries using MRI. Data Sources: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, Cochrane Library. Study Selection: The full text of studies, in English, had to be available. Case reports and reviews were excluded. Included studies must report the location of hamstring injuries using MRI within 8 days of the acute injury. Study Design: Systematic review. Level of Evidence: Level 4. Data Extraction: A first screening was conducted based on title and abstract of the articles. In the second screening, the full text of the remaining articles was evaluated for the fulfillment of the inclusion criteria. Results: From the 2788 references initially found in 5 databases, we included 34 studies, reporting a total of 2761 acute hamstring injuries. The most frequent muscle head involved was the long head of the biceps femoris (BFLH) (70%), followed by the semitendinosus (ST) (15%), generally associated with BFLH. The most frequent tissue affected was the myotendinous junction (MTJ) accounting for half the cases (52%). Among all lesions, the distribution between proximal, central, and distal lesions looked homogenous, with 34.0%, 33.4% and 32.6%, respectively. The stretching mechanism, while only reported in 2 articles, represented 3% of all reported mechanisms, appears responsible for a specific lesion involving the proximal tendon of the semimembranosus (SM), and leading to a longer time out from sport. Conclusion: BFLH was the most often affected hamstring injuries and MTJ was the most affected tissue. In addition, the distal, central, and proximal locations were homogeneously distributed. We also noted that MRI descriptions of hamstring injuries are often poor and did not take full advantage of the MRI strengths. Introduction: The aim of this retrospective monocentric study was to assess the safety and efficacy of spontaneous soft-tissue hematoma transarterial embolization (TAE) and to evaluate predictive factors for early mortality (≤30 days) after TAE for spontaneous soft-tissue hematoma (SSTH). Materials and methods: Between January 2010 and March 2022, all patients referred to our hospital for spontaneous soft-tissue hematoma and treated by emergency TAE were reviewed. Inclusion criteria were patients: ≥18-year-old, with active bleeding shown on preoperative multidetector row computed tomography, with spontaneous soft-tissue hematoma, and treated by TAE. Exclusion criteria were patients with soft-tissue hematomas of traumatic, iatrogenic, or tumoral origin. Clinical, biological, and imaging records were reviewed. Imaging data included delimitation of hematoma volume and presence of fluid level. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to check for associations with early mortality. Results: Fifty-six patients were included. Median age was 75.5 [9–83] ([Q1–Q3] years and 23 (41.1%) were males. Fifty-one patients (91.1%) received antiplatelet agent and/or anticoagulant therapy. All 56 patients had active bleeding shown on a preoperative CT scan. Thirty-seven (66.0%) hematomas involved the retroperitoneum. Median hemoglobin level was 7.6 [4.4–8.2] g/dL. Gelatine sponge was used in 32/56 (57.1%) procedures. Clinical success was obtained in 48/56 (85.7%) patients and early mortality occurred in 15/56 (26.8%) patients. In univariate and multivariate analysis, retroperitoneal location and volume of hematoma were associated with early mortality. Conclusion: Retroperitoneal location and volume of hematoma seem to be risk factors for early death in the context of TAE for spontaneous soft-tissue hematoma. Larger multicenter studies are necessary to identify others predictive factors for early mortality and to anticipate which patients may benefit from an interventional strategy with TAE.
