[ES] En el contexto de una gobernanza que busca nuevas formas de orientar las estrategias de revitalización de ciudades y barrios desindustrializados con criterios de sostenibilidad, no se puede soslayar la actuación sobre el patrimonio industrial como recurso y factor potencial de resiliencia. Como objetivo partiremos de su caracterización y reutilización para concretar, en el ámbito empírico, una aproximación al análisis de experiencias a diferentes escalas (Bombas Gens en Valencia y silos rehabilitados e intervenidos en España). La metodología será mixta deductiva-inductiva, en base a la revisión bibliográfica disponible, la documentación urbanística y trabajo de campo. Los resultados esperados permitirán profundizar en el conocimiento de las estrategias territoriales que generan soluciones de resiliencia, así como en la capacidad de las rehabilitaciones e intervenciones sobre el patrimonio industrial en áreas desindustrializadas, demostrando la eficacia de las buenas prácticas como opción de éxito en relación con objetivos de desarrollo sostenible (ODS)., [EN] In the context of governance that seeks new ways to guide the revitalization strategies of deindustrialized cities and neighborhoods with sustainability criteria, action on industrial heritage as a resource and potential factor of resilience cannot be ignored. As an objective we will start from its characterization and reuse to specify, in the empirical field, an approach to the analysis of experiences at different scales (Bombs Gens in Valencia and silos rehabilitated and operated in Spain). The methodology will be mixed deductive-inductive, based on the available bibliographic review, urban documentation, official statistics and field work. [ES] La historia de la construcción no siempre ha estado repleta de éxitos en el desarrollo de nuevos sistemas constructivos, sin embargo, todos ellos han servido para desarrollar los avances que hoy en día conocemos. A finales del siglo XIX y principios de XX, la incipiente industria comenzará a dotar de nuevos materiales hacia la optimización constructiva. La arquitectura industrial hará uso de todos estos nuevos productos, formulándose como crisol de experimentación y desarrollo. El estudio de estos elementos prefabricados que materializaron las edificaciones hoy abandonadas de la línea ferroviaria Teruel-Alcañiz, permite, además de comprobar su estrategia para hacer frente a la ejecución de un elevado número de edificaciones en tempo y presupuesto limitados, afrontar bajo su conocimiento futuros trabajos de intervención., [EN] The development of new construction systems has not always been successful, however, every system has served to develop the advances that we know today. Regarding the development of prefabricated architecture, the emerging industry will begin to provide new materials towards constructive optimization. Industrial architecture will serve as a crucible of experimentation of all these systems. The objective of this paper focuses on the observation of a fragment of the constructive historical evolution in the use of prefabricated elements, through the special case of the buildings in the Teruel-Alcañiz railway, which resorted to prefabrication as a strategy to deal with the execution of a large number of buildings, under limited conditions of time and Budget.

From the early 19th to the middle of the 20th century, brick chimneys formed part of the industrial landscape. As technology advanced, factories were abandoned and became absorbed by the cities growing around them but masonry brick chimneys found a new role as part of the historical heritage. A large number of these structures are now protected buildings, which means they have to be maintained in a good state of conservation. Architects and engineers who have to assess the condition or retrofit these structures therefore need to be familiar with the different types of damage that can affect brickwork chimneys, and having access to a classification of the different types of damage they are prone to would be very useful to them. This paper classifies and describes the most common defects found in these structures, compiled after a close inspection of 538 Spanish industrial chimneys. The types of damage were classified according to: a) changes in the materials used in their construction, b) damage caused by repeated actions, c) damage due to extraordinary events, and d) damage caused by living organisms.
