Slope stability prediction plays a significant role in landslide disaster prevention and mitigation. This paper's reduced error pruning (REP) tree and random tree (RT) models are developed for slope stability evaluation and meeting the high precision and rapidity requirements in slope engineering. The data set of this study includes five parameters, namely slope height, slope angle, cohesion, internal friction angle, and peak ground acceleration. The available data is split into two categories: training (75%) and test (25%) sets. The output of the RT and REP tree models is evaluated using performance measures including accuracy (Acc), Matthews correlation coefficient (Mcc), precision (Prec), recall (Rec), and F-score. The applications of the aforementionedmethods for predicting slope stability are compared to one another and recently established soft computing models in the literature. The analysis of the Acc together with Mcc, and F-score for the slope stability in the test set demonstrates that the RT achieved a better prediction performance with (Acc=97.1429%, Mcc=0.935, F-score for stable class=0.979 and for unstable case F-score=0.935) succeeded by the REP tree model with (Acc=95.4286%, Mcc=0.896, F-score stable class=0.967 and for unstable class F-score=0.923) for the slope stability dataset The analysis of performance measures for the slope stability dataset reveals that the RT model attains comparatively better and reliable results and thus should be encouraged in further research. Determination of site response for short earth dams based on spectrum acceleration is the main purpose of the present study. Due to evaluate amplification phenomena at the dam crest under earthquake on the bedrock, the Shear Beam Method (SBM) using Excel program was developed in order to data analysis. The amplitude of dam height for homogeneous type was between 20 to 50 meters, and six famous earthquakes with respect to different spectrum acceleration were applied. As results, duration of earthquake showed the major effect for site response with low intensity, when it's on short time. Increasing of the dam height led to high level of amplification with respect to low effect of damping ratio. In case of peak ground acceleration, amplification process was more sensible in maximum height (50 meter). In all cases, amplification ratio was more than three. Consequently, resonance phenomena should avoid through design process for short height (20 meter). Finally, a good degree of agreement between shear beam method and one case study with respect to background in order to verify method was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bridge design is very costly when valley is very long. In this situation, bridge length can be reduced by use of two tailing embankments. In terms of literature, structural performance and interaction between dam with abutment or bridge showed significant role during an earthquake on dynamical assessment. The seismic behavior is affected by modulus ratio between transmission zone and concrete slab. This paper tried to evaluate the effect of physical properties based on different conditions of concrete slab and cushion zones to attain the optimum ratio in order to strong earthquake effect. The numerical result was collected at the end of construction based on half height of tank. ANSYS 13 program was used by Finite-Element method. As results, the optimum comportment was obtained when compressive strength of concrete slab was 45 mega pascal and modulus elasticity ratio (between cushion and embankment body) was equal eight.
