Four examples of N,N-bis(aryl)butane-2,3-diimine–nickel(II) bromide complexes, [ArN=C(Me)-C(Me)=NAr]NiBr2 (where Ar = 2-(C5H9)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 (Ni1), Ar = 2-(C6H11)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 (Ni2), 2-(C8H15)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 (Ni3) and 2-(C12H23)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 (Ni4)), disparate in the ring size of the ortho-cycloalkyl substituents, were prepared using a straightforward one-pot synthetic method. The molecular structures of Ni2 and Ni4 highlight the variation in the steric hindrance of the ortho-cyclohexyl and -cyclododecyl rings exerted on the nickel center, respectively. By employing EtAlCl2, Et2AlCl or MAO as activators, Ni1–Ni4 displayed moderate to high activity as catalysts for ethylene polymerization, with levels falling in the order Ni2 (cyclohexyl) > Ni1 (cyclopentyl) > Ni4 (cyclododecyl) > Ni3 (cyclooctyl). Notably, cyclohexyl-containing Ni2/MAO reached a peak level of 13.2 × 106 g(PE) of (mol of Ni)−1 h−1 at 40 °C, yielding high-molecular-weight (ca. 1 million g mol−1) and highly branched polyethylene elastomers with generally narrow dispersity. The analysis of polyethylenes with 13C NMR spectroscopy revealed branching density between 73 and 104 per 1000 carbon atoms, with the run temperature and the nature of the aluminum activator being influential; selectivity for short-chain methyl branches (81.8% (EtAlCl2); 81.1% (Et2AlCl); 82.9% (MAO)) was a notable feature. The mechanical properties of these polyethylene samples measured at either 30 °C or 60 °C were also evaluated and confirmed that crystallinity (Xc) and molecular weight (Mw) were the main factors affecting tensile strength and strain at break (εb = 353–861%). In addition, the stress–strain recovery tests indicated that these polyethylenes possessed good elastic recovery (47.4–71.2%), properties that align with thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).

Introduction: The final adult height (FAH) of patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is often lower than the predicted adult height (PAH) using the Bayley-Pinneau (B&P) method. The aim of the current work was to test the validity of B&P in predicting FAH from a bone age (BA) measurement performed at onset of puberty. Material and ethods: This was a retrospective longitudinal observational convenience single-centre study. The study included 54 patients (male and female) with classic CAH, whether salt-wasting (SW) or simple virilising (SV), who had reached FAH. The results of auxological measurements and hormonal data around the time of puberty were retrieved from files. Predicted adult height (PAH) was calculated from a BA taken at onset of puberty and compared with FAH. Results: The median PAH SDS at the onset of puberty (–1.5) was significantly greater than the median FAH SDS (–2.2) (p < 0.001). The median target height SDS (–0.8) was significantly higher than the median FAH SDS (–2.2) (p < 0.001). FAH and FAH SDS were significantly worse in females (150.36 ± 7.23; –2.05 ± 1.13) than in their male counterparts (162.86 ± 3.30; –1.53 ± 0.51) (p value < 0.001; 0.048). In patients with good control, there was no difference between PAH SDS (–1.7) and FAH SDS (–1.5) (p value = 0.37). In patients with poor control (over- or under-treated) FAH SDS (–2.1) was significantly lower than PAH SDS (–1.4) (p value < 0.001). Conclusion: The B&P method was able to accurately predict FAH in children with classic CAH, who were medically well controlled (based on 17-hydroxyprogesterone levels), but overestimated it by a significant 0.7 SD in poorly-controlled patients.

Many barriers to access health care has been identified. Fortunately, telemedicine increases the access to care; it can overcome geographic barriers healthcare, specially for patient in medically underserved communities and those in a rural geographical location. Greater attention has been given recently to information technology and telecommunication reforms and their use for the improvement of health care service delivery. Telemedicine can virtually connect a health care provider to a patient at anytime and anywhere. Broadly defined, telemedicine is the use of advanced telecommunications technologies for the purposes of making diagnoses, conducting research, transferring patient data, and/or improving disease management and treatment in remote areas. The emphasis is on use of telecommunications technologies at remote sites in which it also can reduce the healthcare costs. This article provides a brief overview of telemedicine by show casing one of the current patients with multiple chronic illnesses, its potential clinical applications, and the various benefits and leading issues surrounding it.

Therapeutic management of recurrent anterior shoulder instability with an anterior glenoid defect and a Hill-Sachs lesion requires a bone graft to restore the width of the glenoid. The Latarjet procedure is the most popular technique but an iliac crest bone graft is preferred when the coracoid process is dysplastic or too short or after failure of Latarjet or Bristow-Latarjet. The purpose of this manuscript is to describe a full arthroscopic Eden-Hybinette-guided technique with 2 cortical suture buttons for bone graft fixation. This procedure allows reconstruction of severe glenoid bone defects and treatment of concomitant capsulolabral lesions and humeral bone loss, while preserving the subscapularis muscle. In addition, the use of 2 cortical buttons for bone graft fixation simplify graft transport and positioning, provides good control of the rotation, improving healing of the iliac crest bone graft to the anterior glenoid rim.

Introduction: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a well-known complication of diabetes mellitus (DM) and a major cause of vision loss. Increased awareness of DR is crucial for the prevention and early diagnosis of the disease and preservation of vision. The objective of this study is to assess the level of DR awareness in the Qassim region among type 2 diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among patients who visited diabetic clinics between January and March 2019 in the Qassim region, Saudi Arabia. This study used structured questionnaires to assess awareness and knowledge of DR. The patients were considered to have a good level of DR awareness if they answered more than 60% of the questions correctly. Results: A total of 307 patients with type 2 DM, 201 males (65.5%) and 106 females (34.5%), participated in the current study. The results revealed that 63.5% of the participating patients involved in this study had good knowledge about DR; 86% of the patients had knowledge about the correlation between retinopathy and DM, and 89.9% believed that DR can be prevented by good control of diabetes. Conclusion: The study showed that about two-thirds of the participants were aware of DR, and most of them had knowledge about the relationship between retinopathy and DM. Younger patients and the group with a higher level of education were found to be more aware of DR. Awareness of DR should be correlated with behavioral practices to improve a patient's compliance in attending annual eye examinations.

Sus causas estan asociadas desde el desconocimiento previo de la enfermedad base (diabetes mellitus), infecciones respiratorias y urinarias, mal manejo o abandono del tratamiento para la diabetes; asi como abuso de sustancias como drogas o alcohol. Un buen control de la diabetes mellitus tipo I, asi como una alimentacion sana vinculada a ejercicios cotidianos, pueden disminuir el riesgo de padecer cetoacidosis diabetica y por lo tanto la morbilidad asociada a esta enfermedad. EnglishDiabetic ketoacidosis continues to be one of the clinical conditions with the greatest complications and risk of mortality in cases of type I diabetes mellitus. Its causes are associated with prior ignorance of the underlying disease (diabetes melli-tus), respiratory and urinary infections, poor management or discontinuation of treatment for diabetes; as well as substance abuse such as drugs or alcohol. Good control of type I diabetes mellitus, as well as a healthy diet linked to daily exercises, can reduce the risk of suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis and therefore the morbidity associated with this disease.

In recent years, several studies have shown that the use of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) as a colloidal drug delivery system was more advantageous than lipid emulsions, liposomes and polymeric nanoparticles. SLNs have numerous advantages of different nanosystems and rule out many of their drawbacks. Despite the numerous advantages of SLNs, translation from the preclinical formulation to the industrial scale-up is limited. In order to provide a reproducible and reliable method of producing nanoparticles, and thus, obtain an industrial scale-up, several methods of synthesis of nanoparticles by microfluidic have been developed. Microfluidic technique allows a good control and a continuous online synthesis of nanosystems compared to synthesis in bulk, leading to a narrow size distribution, high batch-to-batch reproducibility, as well as to the industrial scale-up feasibility. This work described the optimization process to produce SLNs by microfluidics. The SLNs produced by microfluidics were characterized by complementary optical and morphological techniques and compared with those produced by bulk method. SLNs were loaded with paclitaxel and sorafenib, used as model drugs. The anti-cancer efficiency of the SLNs formulation was estimated with 2D and 3D tumour models of two different cell lines, and the cellular uptake was also studied with fluorescence-assisted measurements. Statement of significance In this work, we describe the production of a single step continuous production for solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) via glass capillary-based microfluidic-chip. Comparing to conventional bulk methods, the current synthesis method showed several advantages, including a continuous production with high yield, good reproducibility and precise control over the properties of SLNs, which are critical pre-conditions for its successful industrialization. The superiority of this microfluidic-based method was confirmed by an overall physicochemical characterization of the produced SLNs. The size of the SLNs was controlled by altering the microfluidic parameters, and SLNs with dimensions ca. 100 nm were feasibly fabricated through parameters optimization. Achiral block copolymers can self-assemble into helical structures when confined inside a cylindrical nanopore. However, controlling the chirality and the number of strands of helices is challenging. We present our simulation results of the influence of a chiral patch added to the confining nanopore on the structures and chirality of helices self-assembled from achiral cylinder-forming diblock copolymers under the confinement. Our results indicate that, when the designed patch is of proper geometry, it can induce the formation of helical structures and exhibit good control over their chirality. The bottom surface of the patch can induce the formation of a characteristic local structure near and parallel to it. It is the characteristic local structure that directs the formation of helices and of their chirality consistent with that of the patch. A large patch angle or the top/bottom surface of a weakly selective pore promotes the formation of double-helices compared to single-helices by enlarging the pitch of the helices near the patch or through the entropic attraction of the top surface of the pore to the minority blocks.

Two-dimensional heterostructures (2D HSs) have emerged as a new class of materials where dissimilar 2D materials are combined to synergise their advantages and alleviate shortcomings. Such a combination of dissimilar components into 2D HSs offers fascinating properties and intriguing functionalities attributed to the newly formed heterointerface of constituent components. Understanding the nature of the surface and the complex heterointerface of HSs at the atomic level is crucial for realising the desired properties, designing innovative 2D HSs, and ultimately unlocking their full potential for practical applications. Therefore, this review provides the recent progress in the field of 2D HSs with a focus on the discussion of the fundamentals and the chemistry of heterointerfaces based on van der Waals (vdW) and covalent interactions. It also explains the challenges associated with the scalable synthesis and introduces possible methodologies to produce large quantities with good control over the heterointerface. Subsequently, it highlights the specialised characterisation techniques to reveal the heterointerface formation, chemistry and nature. Afterwards, we give an overview of the role of 2D HSs in various emerging applications, particularly in high-power batteries, bifunctional catalysts, electronics, and sensors. In the end, we present conclusions with the possible solutions to the associated challenges with the heterointerfaces and potential opportunities that can be adopted for innovative applications.

Objectives Since palatal temporary skeletal anchorage devices (TSADs) have become important tools for orthodontic treatment, this narrative review was aimed to provide an updated and integrated guidelines for the clinical application of palatal TSADs. Setting and sample population A narrative review article including researches on palatal TSADs in orthodontics related to anatomy, success rate and clinical application. Materials and methods The anatomical characteristics, success rate and its consideration factors and clinical application of palatal TSADs based on the direction of tooth movement were evaluated. Results To improve the stability of TSADs, hard tissue factors such as bone depth, cortical bone thickness, bone density and soft tissue thickness were evaluated. Anatomically risky structures, including the nasopalatine foramen, canal and the greater palatine foramen, nerve, vessel need to be identified before placement. The success rate of palatal TSADs was greater than that of the buccal inter-radicular space. Palatal TSADs have been used for various purposes because they can control tooth movement in all directions and, three-dimensionally; their applications include the retraction of anterior teeth, protraction of posterior teeth, distalization, intrusion, expansion and constriction. They can be applied directly or indirectly to the lingual arch or transpalatal arch. Design modifications using splinted 2 miniscrews have been suggested. Conclusion Palatal TSADs allow clinicians to perform minimally invasive and easy placement with good stability by understanding the anatomical characteristics of the palatal region, and they show good control over 3-dimensional tooth movements in various clinical cases.

This study was conducted on dairy farms in Gharbia governorate, Egypt. From January to December 2018 .The study included 240 dairy farms and 3775 serum sample were collected for serological tests.25 farms (10.42) were positive for brucellosis,132 serum sample were positive by serological test divided according to production stage of animals as 121/3000(4.033%), 8/600 (1.33%) and 2/175 (1.142%) in cows ,heifers and bulls respectively. The result of culturing and confirmation by PCR indicated that Brucella melitensis biovar 3 is the dominant strain in dairy farms in Gharbia governorate. The spatial distribution of positive cases indicated that districts of Samnood, Kfr- Elzyat and Basion had the higher percent of positive cases as 6.35%, 4.67% and 3.57% respectively, however districts of El-Santa, Zefta and El-Mahla El-Kobra had the lowest percent as 1.49%, 2.3% and 2.89% respectively. The obtained result proved that, brucellosis is endemic in Gharbia governorate and good control program should be conducted to eradicate the disease.

Purpose: To assess intra-individual hour-to-hour variability of control in intermittent exotropia using a simple office scale: Look And Cover, then Ten seconds of Observation Scale for Exotropia (LACTOSE). Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, the degree of control for distance and near was measured using the LACTOSE, a 5-point scale ranging from 0 to 4. A single investigator performed multiple measurements of the control of each patient with at least an hour interval between measurements. Results: Of the 95 patients with intermittent exotropia enrolled, 66 (69.5%) were assessed two times and 29 (30.5%) were assessed three times for their control. Most patients had consistent control scores across multiple assessments for distance (n = 63, 66.3%) and near (n = 70, 73.7%). Forty-five (47.4%) patients demonstrated variable control for either distance or near, mostly (n = 27, 60.0%) showing a one-step difference. None presented with more than a two-step difference in the control score on repeated measurements. An initial LACTOSE score of 4 (very poor control) or 1 (very good control) remained unchanged in subsequent assessments for both distance ( P = .049) and near ( P < .001). Conclusions: One-third of patients with intermittent exotropia showed variable control scores even during a single day across multiple measurements using the LACTOSE scale. Those who showed consistent control had very good or very poor control, whereas those with variable control had not had very good or very poor control on their initial LACTOSE measurements. El TiO2 se utiliza en una amplia variedad de aplicaciones, entre ellas la fotocatálisis en el área ambiental para autolimpieza de superficies y purificación de aire y agua. Con el propósito de desarrollar nuevos materiales con mejor respuesta fotocatalítica usando luz solar, se ha propuesto modificar el TiO2 siguiendo diversas estrategias. En este trabajo, se resumen los aspectos básicos de la fotocatálisis discutiéndose las ventajas de utilizar fotocatalizadores en forma de película delgada. Se presenta como caso de estudio la obtención de películas delgadas de TiO2 modificadas con zinc, utilizando una ruta de síntesis novedosa que permite buen control en la composición y estructura de los materiales obtenidos. Se muestran los resultados obtenidos en la evaluación fotocatalítica de las películas en la reacción de degradación del colorante verde de Malaquita, observándose algunas ventajas.

Algeria, an oil-rich country, also hosts one of the largest groundwater systems in the world. To protect water resources from pollution in oil-drilling locations, the monitoring of drilling parameters is extremely important, as it represents a powerful key to detect mud losses. The present study aimed to estimate ROP, one of the parameters that provide information on the losses of mud in offset wells from the Hassi Messaoud oilfield using two artificial intelligence methods (ANN and SVM) based on real-time surface drilling parameters. The results indicated that ANN was the most accurate model with the best performance parameters (R2 = 0.9456, RMSE = 0.1101, and MAE = 0.0223) and confirmed the robustness of the AI models in predicting ROP. The developed model enables good control of the ROP in drilling new wells that can be used to predict mud losses and reduce the risk of groundwater contamination.

Patients with complete concentric collapse of the redropalatal airway are excluded from unilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation. This case report shows good control of OSA in a patient with CCC with a new bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulator.

Electrodeposition, which features low cost, easy scale-up, good control in the composition and great flexible substrate compatibility, is a favorable technique for producing thin films. This paper reviews the use of the electrodeposition technique for the fabrication of several representative chalcogenides that have been widely used in photovoltaic devices. The review focuses on narrating the mechanisms for the formation of films and the key factors that affect the morphology, composition, crystal structure and electric and photovoltaic properties of the films. The review ends with a remark section addressing some of the key issues in the electrodeposition method towards creating high quality chalcogenide films.

It is important to pursue more effective and environmentally friendly methods of termite control. Nitenpyram has achieved good control effect in some insects. Herein, we evaluated the effect of nitenpyram (10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 ppm) in conjunction with two kinds of the block (clay and sand) on the survival, body water content, food consumption, tunneling behavior, microbial infectivity and three behavior patterns (corpse-burying behavior, cannibalism behavior, and particle transport behavior) of the termite Reticulitermes flaviceps. We found that the 10–160 ppm concentration nitenpyram significantly inhibited the survival, food consumption, particle transport behavior, corpse-burying behavior, cannibalism behavior, and tunneling behavior of the termites. The survival of R. flaviceps decreased with the increase of the concentration of nitenpyram, and the survival was the lowest at 160 ppm. Still, there was no significant difference in the conditions with concentrations of 80 and 160 ppm. Therefore, the 80 ppm concentration of nitenpyram in combination with pathogenic microorganisms may have great potential values in termite control.

Sari Jaya can have good control in the process of fulfilling the needs of this Cassava Chips.

Field experiment was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Kogi State University, Anyigba in 2014 to assess the effects of some herbicides on the control of purple nutsedge in soybean. The field used for the trial was left fallow for about five years and predominantly infested with purple nutsedge. It was then ploughed, harrowed and ridged. The treatments applied consisted oflinuron [N-(3, 4-dichlorophenyl)-N-methoxy-N-methyl urea] at 2.0 and 2.5 kg a.i/ha; 2,4-D [ (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) acetic acid ] at 2.0 and 3.0 kg a.i/ha; glyphosate [N- (phosphonomethyl) glycine] at 2.0 and 2.5 kg a.i/ha; a tank mixture of glufosinate [2-amino-4- (hydroxymethylphosphinyl) butanoic acid] + fluazifop [ (R) -2-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-2- pyridinyl ] oxy] phenoxy] propanoic acid] at 2.5 and 3.0 kg a.i/ha, manual hoe weeding at 3,6 and 9 WAS and the weedy check. In this trial,the application of 2.0 and 2.5 kg a.i/ha of glyphosate was found to be most efficacious in the control of purple nutsedge. Glyphosate applied at both rates compared favourably with hoe weeding at 3,6 and 9 WAS in the control of purple nutsedge and resulted in the highest grain yield of soybean in the area. A tank mixture of glufosinate + fluazifop at 3.0 kg a;/ha equally gave a good control of purple nutsedge and the soybean grain yield produced therein was comparable to that obtained from plots treated with both rates of glyphosate or that were hoe weeded. Results obtained in this study suggest that glyphosate applied at 2.5 kg a.i/ha could provide alternative management option for the control of purple nutsedge to manual hoe-weeding and for ensuring higher grain yield of soybean.

espanolLa anemia falciforme (AF) es un trastorno genetico autosomico recesivo que afecta la hemoglobina y los globulos rojos adquieren una forma de hoz. Este evento provoca episodios de vaso-oclusion y hemolisis y, en consecuencia, una amplia gama de manifestaciones clinicas. Objetivo: realizar una revision bibliografica integrativa sobre el cuidado dental para pacientes con anemia falciforme. Materiales y Metodos: Se realizo una busqueda en las bases de datos de PubMed y SciELO, utilizando como estrategia una asociacion de terminos relacionados ("Anemia de Celulas Falciformes" y " Atencion Odontologica"). Resultados: Se incluyeron los articulos publicados a partir de 1990 y se excluyeron revisiones de literatura, lo que resulto en dieciocho articulos para analisis. La evidencia cientifica demostro que la atencion odontologica preventiva es esencial para los pacientes con anemia falciforme, ya que puede reducir el numero de ingresos hospitalarios. Las medidas previas, durante y posteriores al tratamiento pueden incluir profilaxis antibiotica, uso de sedacion, buen control de los niveles de oxigeno, hidratacion del paciente y mantenimiento de una perfusion tisular adecuada. Sin embargo, persisten algunas dudas, sobre la seguridad del uso de anestesicos locales con vasoconstrictores y la oseointegracion de implantes dentales. Conclusion: El conocimiento de la enfermedad es esencial para el tratamiento dental de pacientes con anemia falciforme; durante la atencion, se debe tener en cuenta ciertos cuidados para reducir los factores que promueven crisis agudas como acidosis, hipotension, hipoxia, infeccion, vasoconstriccion y estres. EnglishSickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects the hemoglobin molecule of red blood cells in sickle-shaped cells formation. This event causes vaso‐occlusive crises and hemolysis, and consequently, a wide range of clinical manifestations. Objective: This study aimed to present an integrative review of the literature on dental care of patients with SCA. Material and Methods: A search was conducted in Pubmed and Scielo databases using as a search strategy an association of terms related to disease and dentistry (“Sickle Cell Anemia”, “Dental Care”). Results: Studies published since 1990 were included while literature reviews were excluded, resulting in eighteen articles for analysis. The literature has shown that preventive dental care is essential for patients with sickle cell anemia and is able to reduce the number of hospitalizations. Pre, trans and post-treatment measures may include antibiotic prophylaxis, use of sedation, good control of oxygen levels, patient hydration, and maintenance of adequate tissue perfusion. Still, more studies are needed to clarify some dental uncertainties during the care given to patients with AF, such as the safety of local anesthetics with vasoconstrictors and the use of osseointegrated implants. Conclusion: The knowledge of the disease is essential for dental management. Certain precautions should be taken to reduce factors that promote acute crises, such as acidosis, hypotension, hypoxia, infection, vasoconstriction and stress.

We review the impact of control systems and strategies on the energy efficiency of chemical processes. We show that, in many ways, good control performance is a necessary but not sufficient condition for energy efficiency. The direct effect of process control on energy efficiency is manyfold: Reducing output variability allows for operating chemical plants closer to their limits, where the energy/economic optima typically lie. Further, good control enables novel, transient operating strategies, such as conversion smoothing and demand response. Indirectly, control systems are key to the implementation and operation of more energy-efficient plant designs, as dictated by the process integration and intensification paradigms. These conclusions are supported with references to numerous examples from the literature.

Permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) has the advantages of high thrust density and good control accuracy, which can be applied in high-power and high-speed occasions. In this paper, the analytical models are established to obtain the electromagnetic performance for the PMLSMs with dual secondaries and dual primaries. The air-gap flux density and the electromagnetic thrust are also obtained by the finite element model to verify theoretical analysis. Besides, an improved structure is also put forward in order to suppress the thrust fluctuation of the PMLSM. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of two PMLSMs topologies are listed. These analyses would provide a guide for the design of PMLSMs applied in high-power and high-speed occasions.

Vaccination is currently one of the most relevant control strategies in poultry production to reduce infectious disease–induced economic losses and decrease antimicrobial use. Besides intrinsic vaccine efficacy, a proper administration is fundamental to achieve an adequate coverage and protection. Hatchery vaccination is becoming the standard approach for routine vaccination because of administration easiness, the possibility to standardize and optimize the overall process, and the lower impact on animal welfare compared with different types of on-farm vaccination. However, a continuous maintenance, refinement, and training of the personnel are the key to success. In the present work, the effect of longitudinal hatchery audits, performed using a standardized, expert-developed questionnaire was evaluated in 169 hatcheries, located in 11 European countries, over a period of more than 4 yr. A dedicated tablet-based application was implemented for data collection, storage, and analysis, and the obtained scores were used in the evaluation, reporting to the hatchery management and improvement of critical points. A positive significant association was demonstrated between the variation in global and process-specific hatchery scores and the number of performed audits. Similarly, when the longitudinal nature of the data (i.e., multiple visits) was accounted for using linear mixed models, including the hatchery and country as random factors, a significant trend in performance improvement was observed visit after visit, although with certain differences based on the specific score and country. The present study demonstrates the benefits of an objective evaluation of hatchery performances through a standardized questionnaire, followed by the discussion on the major required actions. The widespread application of this approach should lead to a significant improvement in vaccine administration performances, with direct consequences on infectious disease occurrence and animal production performances, and indirectly on therapeutic and control-related costs.

Freeze casting has emerged as one of the most promising manufacturing methods to fabricate porous scaffolds in recent years. This is due to various reasons which include a wide range of materials which can be used in this process, easiness of the process, etc. One of the major objectives of this work was to fabricate bone-like structure by using a modified freeze casting process. In this work, Hydroxyapatite and Tricalcium phosphate scaffolds with bone-like structure were fabricated by understanding and utilizing the basic physics of freeze casting. Thermal conductivity of the base plate is a crucial factor for obtaining controlled pore and porosity distribution in a porous scaffold. It was found that designing the base plate with variable thermal conductivity has led to the formation of bone-like structure. Porous scaffolds were quantitatively analyzed for pore size and porosity distribution at center and circumference. Porosity at circumference was observed to be approximately dropped by 55%, a similar trend was seen for pore size. Therefore, it was significant evidence that modified freeze casting has capable in fabricating bone-like structures with ease and good control. This will open many new applications of porous scaffolds in biomedical, energy devices, chemical catalyst and many more.

El Trastorno obsesivo-compulsivo constituye una patología grave e incapacitante. El tratamiento de primera línea no consigue una remisión completa en casi la mitad de los pacientes. En adultos se ha demostrado la utilidad del tratamiento coadyuvante con aripiprazol en estos casos. En adolescentes la evidencia al respecto es escasa, aunque se han publicado algunos resultados prometedores. Tampoco se dispone de evidencia suficiente sobre la eficacia y seguridad de los antipsicóticos inyectables de liberación prolongada en población adolescente, por lo que sólo se recomiendan en trastornos psicóticos con respuesta insuficiente por falta de adherencia. Sin embargo, algunos autores proponen extender su utilización a otras patologías. Se presenta el caso de una paciente adolescente con trastorno obsesivocompulsivo resistente al tratamiento de primera línea, en la que la utilización coadyuvante de aripiprazol inyectable de liberación prolongada permite un buen control de la clínica obsesiva y contribuye a evitar nuevas descompensaciones.

In functional data analysis, the collected data are often assumed to be fully observed on the domain. However, in dealing with real data (for example, environmental pollution data), we are often faced with the scenario that some functional data are fully observed on dense lattice while others are incompletely observed. In this paper, we propose a method for testing equivalence of mean functions of two samples under this scenario. Some asymptotic results of the proposed methods are established. The proposed test is employed to analyze an environmental pollution study in Liuzhou City of China. Simulations show that the proposed test has a good control of the type-I error, and is more powerful than the complete case test in most cases.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive trajectory tracking control scheme for hexacopters with a wind disturbance. Using conventional controllers, position and attitude of hexacopters cannot be controlled independently. Using tilted rotors, it is expected that the problem of conventional controllers can be overcome. Therefore, we will develop an adaptive trajectory tracking controller for hexacopters with tilted rotors. The developed controller can ensure good control performance even if there exist uncertainties and unknown wind disturbances. Finally, to confirm the usefulness of the proposed controller, numerical simulations are carried out.

Because of the widespread existence of unsymmetrical system in the production process, its research is getting more and more attention. In this paper, a regression optimal functional control method is proposed for a class of unsymmetrical system. For the positive-negative model of the unsymmetrical system, a regression optimal functional controller is designed, which can make the system stable. The proposed algorithm has less computation and good control effect. Finally, three simulation examples are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Engineering of cell surfaces holds promise in manipulating cellular activities in a physicochemical route as a complement to the biological approach. Mediated by Ca2+, a quick and convenient yet cytocompatible method is used to achieve surface engineering, by which polydopamine nanostructures can be in situ grown onto dendritic cell (DC) surfaces within 10 min. Ca2+, as the physical bridge between the negative cell surface and polydopamine, avoids the direct chemical polymerization of polydopamine onto the cell surface, critically important to maintain the cell viability. As a proof of concept in potential applications, this cell surface engineering shows a good control toward DC maturation. Upon surface polydopamine engineering, bone-marrow-derived DC exhibits a unique bidirectional control of maturation. The polydopamine structure enables effective suppression of DC activation by acting as an efficient scavenger of reactive oxygen species, a key signal during maturation. Conversely, an 808 nm laser irradiation can remotely relieve the suppressed state and effectively activate DC maturation by the photoheat effect of polydopamine (39 °C). The work provides an easily implemented, straightforward approach to achieve cell surface engineering, through which the DC maturation can be controlled.

Gastro-oesphageal reflux disease is an increasing health burden. The mainstay of treatment has conventionally been medical therapy but since the introduction of laparoscopic surgery laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery has been increasingly used for intractable symptoms or in patients unwilling to take long term medication. The Nissen 360 degree wrap has traditionally been considered the gold standard operation but can be associated with significant complications. These complications include “gas bloat” and dysphagia and can occur relatively frequently. Various modifications have been described to the original operation and some of these have been described. In addition alternative wraps have been described which seem to have a reduced incidence of complications associated with their use. This editorial discusses the various types of wrap that can be performed and the minimum requirements of the surgical technique. The evidence from a recent meta-analysis of the randomised data has suggested that an anterior wrap is associated with a lower rate of complications and gives just as good control of reflux symptoms. The advantages and disadvantages of an anterior wrap are discussed. The lack of long term follow up data concerns some practitioners and at the moment the choice of wrap carried out still rests with the individual surgeon.

To be able to charge a correct amount of chlorine dioxide in the D0-stage, a pulp mill needs good control of the bleaching process and good sensors to keep the variability of the bleaching result on an acceptable level. It is also important to include the bleaching agent demand from the dissolved matter in the pulp slurry. If this is done correctly, over- or undercharging of bleaching agents can be reduced, which lead to lower bleaching chemical cost, lower polluting emissions and higher pulp quality. Our previous research has shown that the dissolved organic carryover from the O2-stage varies significantly when bleaching softwood kraft pulp. The present study investigated the corresponding impact in the case of bleaching of birch pulp. Different mill configurations and process conditions have been simulated in laboratory trials, including proceeding A-stage treatment, different degrees of washing before and between the stages, and a comparison of the effects of recycled and non-recycled wash filtrates. The results have confirmed the significant impact of the dissolved organic matter, and the knowledge which have been generated can be used to understand how measurement and control concepts can be developed to improve the pulp quality control and to decrease production cost.

When a woman has a career, she has a double responsibility as a wife. From that phenomenon, there are several problems in this research. They are how is the understanding of the female lecturers at Akbid Ibrahimy about sakinah family? How are their efforts to create a sakinah family? And how are career women’s efforts in realizing a sakinah family from Islamic law perspective? This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, which describes some data obtained from the field by interview, observation, and documentation. Then followed by the editing, classifying, and analyzing process. Female lecturers’ efforts in realizing a sakinah family from the Islamic law perspective is they are permissible to initiate a career according to her expertise and motivation but must prioritize the family. She must be able to provide good control and service to her husband and children so that her responsibilities in the household and in the work are equally balanced.

Prevention of complications of diabetes mellitus requires good control of diabetes mellitus. Based on Basic Health Research Data of the Ministry of Health, in the end of 2013, the number of diabetic patients in Indonesia had reached 9.1 million and this number continues to grow which in 2030, the number is predicted to reach 21.3 million. This study aimed to identify the paramaters of diabetes mellitus control. This descriptive study involved 30 diabetic patients in coastal communities of Surabaya who were randomly selected. Data collection was undertaken using an observation sheet and diabetes control measurement tools. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that diabetes control were mostly poor based from the indicator of fasting blood glucose level (181.77±68.728) and two hours postprandial blood glucose level (277.07±111.884). Meanwhile, total cholesterol (196.43±60.640), blood pressure (systolic 125±16.969 and diastolic 78±8.469), and Body Mass Index (23,257±3,231) were good. Education on Self Care Management will support the control of diabetes mellitus.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui berapa besar peranan audit internal dan sistem pengendalian internal atas pengajuan kredit tanpa agunan (KTA) Perbankkan Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini mengunakan Descriptif Assosiatif Method dengan metode pendekatan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah karyawan audit internal dan Kredit Tanpa Agunan yang berjumlah 100 responden, untuk kuisioner dengan metode tehnik sampling jenuh. Untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peran audit internal dan sistem pengendalian internal atas pengajuan KTA perbankkan Indonesia dengan menguji statistik dengan formula regresi linier berganda yang dianalisa dengan program aplikasi SPSS 24.0 for windows. Perhitungan menunjukkan peran audit internal memberikan kontribusi signifikan, sedangkan sistem pengendalian internal tidak memiliki pengaruh atas pengajuan KTA. Peranan auditor internal memberikan kontribusi yang sangat kuat, artinya apabila audit dilakukan dengan benar maka tingkat kecurangan akan dapat di cegah lebih dini. Begitu juga dengan sistem pengendalian internal yang memiliki korelasi positif, akan tetapi pada pengujian hipotesis bahwa sistem pengendalian internal tidak signifikan dengan pengajuan KTA, sistem pengendalian yang baik sangat tidak berpengaruh signifikan dalam mendeteksi potensi kecurangan dalam proses pengajuan kredit. Management of anchorage and good control of molars in all three planes of space is necessary for optimal results. It is of paramount importance for the clinician to select the appropriate anchorage control. The aim of the study was to compare the anchorage loss from implant-aided retraction and frictionless mechanics retraction in bimaxillary protrusion cases. Cephalograms of 40 patients were evaluated in this retrospective study, segregated into two groups based on their retraction mechanics. Anchorage loss was determined from measurements made on pretreatment and postretraction lateral cephalograms. Mean and standard deviation from independent sample t-tests were used to analyze the anchorage loss between the two groups. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS version 20.0. In the implant-aided group, mean anchorage loss was 0.95 ± 0.36 mm; in the frictionless mechanics with conventional anchorage group, the mean anchorage loss was 2.44 ± 0.46 mm. The average interincisal angle in the frictionless mechanics group and the implant-aided retraction group was 99.45 ± 5.41° and 100.15 ± 4.85°, indicating similar incisor inclinations in the pretreatment group. Pretreatment interincisal angle measurement ensured that both groups had similar anchorage demands. Anchorage loss was greater in frictionless mechanics with conventional anchorage (2.44 m) when compared to implant-aided retraction mechanics (0.95 mm). Implant-aided retraction can thus be considered for cases requiring absolute anchorage.

The residual moisture (RM) level strongly impacts the stability of freeze-dried biopharmaceuticals. On the one hand, the RM should not be too high to keep the reaction potential of water molecules low and to avoid a decrease in the glass transition temperature through the plasticizing effect of water. On the other hand, overdrying has been described to negatively impact protein stability. Consequently, an optimal RM has to be established and justified for approval by authorities. Therefore, end products with different RM are analyzed over storage. The different RM levels are typically obtained by slightly varying the lyophilization process itself; but deviations from the original process are critical. Additionally, samples can be taken during lyophilization runs, e.g. at the end of primary drying or after the ramp into secondary drying. This, however, does not allow for good control over the RM. Here we present the adaption of a headspace water spiking technique using a microliter syringe to precisely increase and adjust the RM. This technique is suitable to reproducibly introduce water in the microliter scale to achieve RM of less than 1% [w/w] with high precision depending on the dry cake weight. In addition, we show that by using different fill volumes and cake densities, an equal three-dimensional water distribution throughout the whole cake can be achieved. Furthermore, potential limitations and risks in manual RM introduction are discussed.

Pregnancy in a patient diagnosed with systemic connective tissue disorder is a challenge that requires a close co-operation between a rheumatologist and gynaecologist. Good control over the activity of the underlying condition and the choice of appropriate time for planning a pregnancy have direct effect on the pregnancy results in these patients. Applying gynaecological supervision adequate to the increased risk of complications is also very important. The aim of this study is to present the current knowledge on the care over pregnant patients with systemic connective tissue diseases and to draw attention to the importance of pregnancy planning in this group of patients.

This paper addresses the problem of designing switching control for a class of stochastic switched fuzzy systems with time-delay. Firstly, a stochastic switched fuzzy system can precisely describe continuous and discrete dynamics as well as their interactions in the complex real-world systems. Next, switching control algorithm and switching law design of the state-dependent form are developed such that the stability is guaranteed. Since convex combination techniques are used to derive the delay independent criteria, some subsystems are allowed to be unstable. Finally, various comparisons of the elaborated examples are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control design approach. All results illustrate good control performances as desired.

Introduction Synovial sarcoma is a malignant tumour of mesenchymal origin with an aggressive character and a rare cervicofacial location. Its management is multidisciplinary in order to improve prognosis and survival. Case report We report the case of two rare and synchronous localizations of monophasic synovial sarcoma of the maxilla and chest wall in a 58-year-old woman, whose management was based on exclusive chemotherapy. Discussion The cervicofacial location of synovial sarcoma represents 3% of all locations in the body. Its clinical and radiological manifestations are aspecific. Its diagnosis is based on a combination of histological and genetic arguments. Its therapeutic management depends on the tumour stage and prognostic factors. Conclusion Early diagnosis of cervicofacial synovial sarcoma allows to avoid a mutilating procedure for the patient and to improve the long-term prognosis by a good control of the tumour., Highlights • Synovial sarcoma is a high-grade histological variety of sarcomas. • Our case is a perfect example of atypical forms of synovial sarcoma by association of two rare locations that are maxillary bone and chest wall. • The exact diagnosis is based on a combination of clinical, radiological, histological and genetic arguments.

Humor and A1C: The Interaction Between Humor and Diabetes Control There is increasing evidence of specific medical and psychological benefits associated with humor within diabetes populations. The benefits of maintaining good diabetes control are also well established. The more general relationship between humor and diabetes control however remains unexplored. The purpose of this study was to examine if there was a difference between people with diabetes with an A1C ≤ 6.99% versus those ≥ 7.0% on four disparate types of humor. The sample consisted of 284 participants, 65.5% with type 1 diabetes, 68.3% female, 89.1% Caucasian, and 68.7% college educated. Participants completed the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ) and were divided into two groups, A1C ≤ 6.99% and A1C ≥ 7.0%. The A1C ≤ 6.99% group scored significantly higher on both types of positive humor, affiliative humor (P < 0.01) and self-enhancing humor (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between participants on either type of negative humor, aggressive humor (P > 0.05) or self-defeating humor (P > 0.05). Results indicate that good control (A1C ≤ 6.99%) is associated with positive humor. These findings provide evidence that there is an association between American Diabetes Association recommended levels of control and positive humor styles. Implications are extensive and important. Regardless of if humor contributes to better control, or better control leads to a better sense of humor, humor is the common denominator. In either case the existence of positive humor is connected to reduced medical complications, psychological complications, and successful diabetes management. Since humor is free, readily available, and can be developed and strengthened, it is suggested as a viable treatment component. In order to reduce the influence of time-varying disturbance on motion control performance of ultrasonic motor, the speed control strategy of ultrasonic motor is studied in this paper. An iterative learning control strategy including prediction and closed-loop control is proposed by combining iterative learning control with generalized minimum variance self-tuning control. By introducing the previous control information into the objective function and using the design method of the generalized minimum variance control strategy, the generalized minimum variance iterative learning control law is obtained, which has both self-learning and self-adaptive ability. The proposed control strategy is applied to the speed control of ultrasonic motor and validated by simulation and experiment. The results of experiments under different load conditions and different given values show that good control performance can be obtained by adopting the proposed control strategy. The results of intermittent loading experiments indicate that, the ability to adapt to the non-repetitive disturbances such as sudden load mutation is enhanced.
