Abstract

Experiments have verified that it is possible to customize the magnetic behavior of sputtered magnetostrictive [([Fe.sub.80][Co.sub.20]).sub.80][B.sub.20] by controlling the stress induced in the deposition. It is shown that the mechanical stresses accumulated during deposition are important factors for controlling coercivity.
