Background/Objectives: Cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Health-related quality of life is crucial to assess the impact of cardiovascular diseases and to guide therapeutic strategies. The Short Form 36 Health Survey and the RAND 36-Item Health Survey questionnaires are common tools for measuring health-related quality of life in patients with cardiovascular disease, but their reliability may vary according to the population studied. The aim of this study is to compare the reliability of the SF-36 and the RAND-36 in a population with cardiac pathology, addressing the question of which of these instruments offers a more consistent and useful measurement in this specific group. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was carried out at the University Hospital of Burgos (Spain). A total of 413 patients with cardiovascular pathology referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit were included. Patients with incomplete data or who did not participate in the program were excluded. Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), item–total correlation and reliability, and a half-and-half analysis were performed. Results: Both questionnaires showed similar and adequate reliability for patients with cardiovascular pathology. Internal consistency, as measured with Cronbach's alpha, was above 0.80 for most dimensions, supporting its robustness. Significant inter-item and inter-dimension correlations were found in both scales, except in some specific cases in the dimension 'Physical Functioning'. The half-and-half analysis confirmed the good reliability of both scales. Conclusions: Both the SF-36 and the RAND-36 are highly reliable tools for assessing health-related quality of life in patients with cardiovascular disease. The results may have significant implications for clinical practice, helping in the selection of health-related quality of life monitoring instruments and in the evaluation of the efficacy of therapeutic interventions. - Abstract
Emotional states are fundamentally related to cognitive processes such as attention, perception, memory and learning, and they play a very important role in helping to assess daily challenges. Thus, we need tools that measure emotions in the context of Physical Education. In this study, we adapted and tested the factor structure of the Achievement Emotion Questionnaire – Short Version (AEQ-SV) in the Italian physical education context. We administered the AEQ-SV to 867 participants (M age = 16.43 years, SD = 1.23) enrolled in Italian physical education classes to analyze the questionnaire's psychometric properties using Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM), an internal reliability analysis, and a criterion validity analysis. The AEQ-SV subscales consisted of eight emotions and 32 items. Reliability analyses revealed acceptable fit indices and adequate temporal stability. Linear regression analysis showed that positive emotions positively predicted academic performance, while negative emotions negatively predicted academic performance. These results are in line with research on the original scale, and these data support the use of the AEQ-SV in the Italian educational context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mental pathology and violence have been studied by the scientific community, a topic that is sometimes perceived as controversial, partly due to the prevailing stigma around psychiatric disorders. In this project, all those factors concomitant with psychotic pathologies and 'Cluster B' antisocial disorders, which could interfere with the commission of violent actions, and their maximum expression, the homicide, are addressed from a comprehensive psychological perspective. To this end, a rigorous methodological selection of 15 high‐impact articles has been carried out, from which the results have been extracted and compared in this systematic review. The findings obtained revolve around the importance of adherence to treatment, the therapeutic alliance, the absence of toxic consumption, and concomitance with other mental pathologies, taking into account the idiosyncratic differences of the subjects, as well as between the pathologies and diagnoses described, always maintaining the comparison between said disorders, and with the population in absence of pathology. Background: Burns are a common and severe medical emergency requiring immediate specialized care to minimize damage and prevent complications. Burn severity depends on depth, extent, and location, with more complex care needed for burns on critical areas or extensive burns. Nursing is essential in burn management, providing immediate care, adapting treatments, managing pain, preventing infections, and offering emotional support for recovery. The study aims to analyse the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of burns treated at the Hospital Emergency Department of the Hospital Complex of Cáceres (Spain) from January 2018 to December 2022. It looks at factors like gender, age, hospital stay duration, emergency type (paediatric or adult), main diagnosis, skin thickness, burn degree, affected body areas, percentage of body surface area burned, and treatment types. It also investigates how treatment varies by gender, age, skin thickness, and burn severity. The relevance of this research lies in the fact that periodic epidemiological studies are essential to monitor changes in diseases, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, detect outbreaks quickly, update knowledge on risk factors, and guide health policy decisions. This ensures an adapted and effective response to the needs of the population. Methods: Retrospective, observational study that analysed burn cases treated at the Hospital Complex of Cáceres (Spain) 2018–2022. Inclusion criteria were based on ICD-10 codes for burns, excluding severe cases not treated in this service. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Student's t-tests, Chi-square tests, and ANOVA. Results: 220 patients surveyed, with a mean age of 47 years and 60.9% male. Most burns (95.5%) affected the external body surface, with a mean hospital stay of 7.86 days. Medical treatment was provided to 75.5% of patients, and 24.5% required surgical intervention. Significant differences in treatment procedures were observed according to age, skin thickness, and burn degree. Older patients had more procedures and longer hospital stays. Excision and transfer procedures were more common in full-thickness and severe burns. Conclusions: The findings align with previous research on burn demographics and treatment approaches. Treatment differences by age and burn severity highlight the need for tailored interventions. The study underscores the importance of comprehensive burn management, including psychological support for improved long-term outcomes. Further research could explore the impact of socio-economic factors on burn incidence and treatment. This study was not registered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Objective: To know all the benefits of a sensory intervention in premature infants.Method: descriptive study of systematic review, following the PRISMA Statement. Search for articles (PubMed, ProQuest and ScienceDirect) according to the inclusion criteria. Subsequent analysis of the articles. Result: Of the 28 studies obtained in the first phase, only 11 (8 quantitative and 3 descriptive articles) were included in the review. All of them provide evidence of the different benefits of carrying out a sensory intervention in premature infants: at the level of their development, in their physiological parameters, feeding, sleep and also their impact on families. Conclusions: Sensory interventions delivered early in preterm infants carry enormous benefits in this at-risk population. However, more studies are still needed to generalize the evidence and to determine the specific benefits of each of the different procedures., Objetivo: conocer todos los beneficios que aporta una intervención sensorial en prematuros.

- Abstract
There are five scientific articles that make up the present doctoral thesis, entitled "Effects of Mirror Therapy vs. Cognitive Therapeutic Exercise on Improving Upper Limb Functions in Stroke Patients," which follows the compilation of publications modality. The rehabilitation of post-stroke patients represents a significant challenge in current medical care, given the complexity of the neurological sequelae that affect individuals' functionality and quality of life (QoL). In this context, research on advances in post-stroke rehabilitation has focused on several crucial aspects to improve clinical outcomes. As a primary aspect, comparative effectiveness research has been conducted on Mirror Therapy (MT) vs. Cognitive Therapeutic Exercise (CTE), combined with Task-Oriented Therapy (TOT), in improving functionality, motor skills, autonomy, and QoL in post-stroke patients. Another important point to consider is evaluation, as it is essential to understand the psychometric characteristics of assessment instruments. Some of these, such as the ARAT and MAL-30, are specifically designed to assess stroke patients, so it is crucial to ensure their validity and reliability in the Spanish population. Furthermore, the relationship between different demographic and clinical variables with functionality and QoL one month after stroke has been investigated, providing crucial data for personalized treatment adaptation. In order to study new advances in post-stroke rehabilitation, a longitudinal study was conducted to test the effectiveness of combining these therapies. Within this longitudinal study, a cross-sectional design was used to analyze data at a specific point in the process to determine the psychometric properties of the scales and identify the characteristics and determining factors of functional independence and QoL in these patients. Our findings suggest that both techniques, Mirror Therapy (MT) and Cognitive Therapeutic Exercise (CTE) combined with Task-Oriented Thera, Doctorado en Avances en Ciencia y Biotecnología Alimentarias

- Abstract
Super-refractory status epilepticus (SRSE) represents a neurological emergency that is characterized by a lack of response to the third line of antiepileptic treatment, including intravenous general anesthetics. It is a medical challenge with high morbidity and mortality. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been recommended as a nonpharmacologic option of treatment after other alternatives are unsuccessful. Its effect on the cessation of SRSE has been minimally investigated. The objective of this article is to analyze the effect of ECT on SRSE. For this purpose, a multidisciplinary team created a protocol based on clinical guidelines similar to those described previously by Ray et al. (2017). ECT was applied to six patients with SRSE after the failure of antiepileptic treatment and pharmacologic coma. The objective of each ECT session was to elicit a motor seizure for at least 20 s. SRSE was resolved in all patients after several days of treatment, including ECT as a therapy, without relevant adverse effects. Thus, ECT is an effective and feasible option in the treatment of SRSE, and its place in the algorithm in treatment should be studied due to the uncommon adverse effects and the noninvasive character of the therapy.

- Abstract
Clinical and electroencephalogram (EEG) features in frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE) vary considerably among patients, making the diagnosis a challenge. The objective of this study was to describe interictal and ictal EEG activity, identifying variables that could help to differentiate and diagnose frontal lobe epilepsy cases. A prospective cross-sectional study from patients with frontal interictal epileptiform discharges (IED) referred to the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona, Spain) after a clinical event compatible with epileptic seizures was designed. The interictal and ictal activity were analyzed to provide a detailed EEG description of the cases, using different statistical analyses. The morphological seizure pattern at the ictal onset remained globally unchanged over time in seizures arising from the frontal lobe for each patient. Isolated sharp waves were the most frequent waveforms in the expression of IED. Frontal lobe seizures are frequently short and sometimes appear grouped in clusters within the same recording. Often the ictal expression of the electrical activity in frontal lobe seizure is subtle and challenging to interpret. A description of the main findings is summarized to identify seizures arising from the frontal lobe and avoid false negatives findings in EEG interpretations.

- Abstract
Differential diagnosis in epilepsy is sometimes challenging. Video-electroencephalography (V-EEG) is an essential tool in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy. The prolonged duration of V-EEG recording increases the diagnostic yield of a conventional V-EEG. The right length of monitoring for different indications is still to be established. We present a retrospective descriptive study with a sample of 50 patients with long-term V-EEG monitoring, with a mean age of 36.1 years, monitored from 2013 to 2019 at the Burgos University Hospital. The mean monitoring time was 3.6 days. Events were obtained in 76% of the patients, corresponding to epileptic seizures (ES) in 57.9% of them, with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) in 39.5%, and with episodes of both pathologies in 2.6% of the patients. We found that the first event was highly representative, and it correlated with the rest of the events that would be recorded. Moreover, 92% of the first PNES had been captured at the end of the second day, and 89% of the first ES by the end of the third day. V-EEG for differential diagnosis between ES and PNES can be performed in hospitals without specialized epilepsy surgery units. For this indication, the duration of long-term V-EEG can be adjusted individually depending on the nature of the first event.

No formal indication currently exists for seizure prophylaxis in neurosurgical oncology patients. Neither have specific recommendations been made on the use of antiepileptic drugs (AED) in seizure-free patients with meningiomas scheduled for surgery. AEDs are generally prescribed on a discretionary basis, taking into consideration a range of clinical and radiological risk factors. We present a systematic review and meta-analysis exploring the effectiveness of antiepileptic prophylaxis in patients with meningioma and no history of seizures.

The present doctoral thesis entitled “Effects of the implementation of a dynamic elastomeric fabric orthosis on the functionality and quality of life of the person with Parkinson's Disease (PD)” is carried out according to the thesis modality by compendium of scientific articles. The work scheme established to achieve the main objective is based on a study composed of 3 structured articles, a study protocol and two longitudinal clinical trials. Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by a loss of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra. It is characterized by the appearance of different motor and non-motor symptoms. The main motor symptoms of the disease are tremor at rest, bradykinesia, stiffness of the extremities, gait and balance problems. As the disease progresses, motor symptoms become accentuated, which leads to a decrease in the functionality of the patient's Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Current pharmacological treatment is based on dopaminergic treatments such as levodopa, dopamine agonists and reduction of dopamine degradation. The effectiveness of this treatment progressively decreases and produces other side effects such as dyskinesias and motor fluctuations. Currently, there are different types of non-pharmacological treatments that reduce the presence and intensity of motor symptoms; however, there is not enough scientific evidence about them and resources are scarce. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the effects of the implementation of a dynamic elastomeric fabric orthosis (DEFO) on the functionality and quality of life of the person with PD. DEFO are a non-pharmacological and easily implemented device personalized for each patient that provides biomechanical alignment and allows freedom of movement of the body while sending sensory information to the brain, causing compression localized and stimulation of dermal and proprioceptive receptors that regulate motor activity. This research aims to visualize the training needs of future secondary education teachers through the analysis of the impact of the initial training received in the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teacher. Additionally, it seeks to explore the possible relationship between evaluations and the perceived level of Emotional Intelligence as a facilitating element in socio-educational inclusion processes, and between these and other relevant variables such as the sense of Teacher Self-Efficacy in facing the challenge of diversity in classrooms. The results have shown a generally poor evaluation of the received training and a high level of concerns regarding the development of functions most related to daily work in the classroom. Predictive variables of higher training towards diversity attention in classrooms and greater teacher well-being have also been evidenced.

- Abstract
Elegimos, como paradig, Introduction: In health care, repetitive diagnostic and therapeutic processes are carried out in consecutive groups of patients for whom, often, there are no protocols or those that do exist are not efficient because they are not based on any type of scientific evidence. The lack of protocols leads to erratic referral of patients, unnecessary complementary tests and inefficient management in the use of resources, either in highly prevalent pathologies or other that require time consuming tests for their evaluation. Goals: To evaluate our own clinical practice on the Neurophysiology Department of the University Hospital of Burgos, focusing on the detection of "weak points" in a series of diagnostic processes, using as examples pathologies whose diagnosis requires neurophysiological techniques such as such as video electroencephalography (V-EEG), neurography (ENG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TCMS) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP). Interest and applicability: The periodic evaluation and reevaluation of clinical practice leads to maintain proven efficient practices and eliminate those that are not useful and whose performance is carried out by inertia in clinical practice. The identification of weak points allows correction strategies for these and their application in the coming population of patients from the Service itself, resulting in an increase in the quality of care, in saving time, and resources that will lead to reduction of care times. Fields of application: A series of pathologies are selected in which diagnostic procedures are carried out that will be costly, either because of the need for long periods of time for their performance, or because of the frequency with which they are carried out as they are required in very prevalent pathologies. We chose as a paradigm of pathologies in the first group, long-term V-EEG monitoring in patients with drug-resistant epilepsies and the performance of TCMS and SSEP in patients with compressive mye

- Abstract
En cuanto a la depresión y ansiedad, el no, Three scientific articles make up the present doctoral thesis, entitled "Factors related to quality of life, depression, anxiety, body image and self-esteem, in mastectomized women breast cancer survivors", which follows the publication compendium modality. Breast cancer is not only the most common cancer among women, but also the one that requires the most treatment, resulting in long-lasting side effects affecting several aspects of the patient's quality of life, such as physical and mental abilities. With the main objective of identifying the factors associated with quality of life, depression, anxiety, body image and self-esteem, three descriptive articles were carried out on a sample of 198 women survivors of breast cancer, where the variables studied were age, type of surgery, whether they were receiving treatment during the evaluation, level of education, marital status, whether or not they were employed during diagnosis and treatment, the time elapsed from diagnosis to evaluation, whether they had undergone breast reconstruction, whether they had a first-degree family history, whether they had received psychological support during the course of the disease, whether they had a sense of humor, and finally the degree of knowledge they had about the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the disease. In relation to quality of life, age, type of surgery and time elapsed from diagnosis to quality of life assessment are factors associated with quality of life, where younger women report greater symptomatology, conservative surgery does not indicate a better quality of life and the more time elapsed since diagnosis indicates a higher general healthcare score, better functionality, but not less symptomatology. As for depression and anxiety, not having a partner, being receiving treatment during the evaluation, having undergone mastectomy surgery and having a job are factors associated with greater symptoms of depression and anxiety, where the prevalence of these sympt

- Abstract
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic, neurodegenerative movement disorder, whose symptoms have a negative impact on quality of life and functionality. Although its main treatment is pharmacological, non-pharmacological aids such as the dynamic elastomeric fabric orthosis (DEFO) merit an evaluation. Our objective is to assess the DEFO in upper limb (UL) functional mobility and in the quality of life of PD patients. A total of 40 patients with PD participated in a randomized controlled crossover study, and were assigned to a control group (CG) and to an experimental group (EG). Both groups used the DEFO for two months, the experimental group the first two months of the study and the control group the last two. Motor variables were measured in the ON and OFF states at the baseline assessment and at two months. Differences from the baseline assessment were observed in some motor items of the Kinesia assessment, such as rest tremor, amplitude, rhythm or alternating movements in the ON and OFF states with and without orthosis. No differences were found in the unified Parkinson’s disease rating scale (UPDRS) or the PD quality-of-life questionnaire. The DEFO improves some motor aspects of the UL in PD patients but this does not translate to the amelioration of the standard of functional and quality-of-life scales., This study was supported by grants for the financing of research projects in biomedicine, health management and social health care approved by the Regional Health Management of the Junta de Castilla y León (No. EXP. Purpose: To retrospectively analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis, mortality rate, and survival period of malignant bronchial and lung neoplasms in the Burgos region, with the aim of promoting the development of strategies to improve cancer care management during health crises, highlighting the importance of non-pharmacological approaches to mitigate the negative impacts of future pandemics on lung cancer patients. Methods: This retrospective, longitudinal, single-center study was conducted in Burgos from 2019 to 2021. Participants included all patients diagnosed with malignant bronchial and lung neoplasms by the Pneumology unit of Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Burgos during the year immediately before and the year immediately after 31 March 2020, the official start date of the pandemic. Inclusion criteria encompassed patients diagnosed through histological or clinicoradiological methods, who provided informed consent. Data were systematically gathered using a specific template that included demographic information, disease stage, death, and survival time. Statistical analysis involved descriptive methods, ANOVA, and chi-square tests to assess differences in survival time and associations between categorical variables. Results: The results reveal a decrease in the number of patients diagnosed during the pandemic period (154 vs. 105), which could indicate delays in detection. However, there were no significant differences between the two periods, in which more than 60% of cases were detected in stage IV, being incompatible with survival. Although fewer patients died during the pandemic than expected (p = 0.015), patients diagnosed after the onset of the pandemic had a shorter survival time (182.43 ± 142.63 vs. 253.61 ± 224.30; p = 0.038). Specifically, those diagnosed in stage I during the pre-pandemic had a much longer survival time (741.50 days) than the rest of the patients (p < 0.05). In addition, among those diagnosed in stage IV, those diagnosed after the beginning of the pandemic had a shorter survival time (157.29 ± 202.36 vs. 241.18 ± 218.36; p = 0.026). Conclusions: Understanding these changes can support both medical strategies and non-pharmacological therapies to improve cancer care management during health crises, thus contributing to the optimization of public health. Cyberbullying is a growing problem in the Italian educational sector, with a prevalence of 17%. This study analyzes its impact on the psychosocial well-being and academic performance of Italian adolescents. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 502 students from six schools in different Italian regions, using the European Cyberbullying Intervention Project Questionnaire (ECIPQ) to assess cyberbullying, in addition to collecting data on satisfaction, friends, and academic performance. Chi-square and ANOVA analyses were conducted to identify significant associations between the variables. Results: The analyses showed significant associations between cyberbullying and gender and in psychosocial well-being, with significant differences in personal satisfaction and body satisfaction. On the other hand, there were no significant differences in academic performance or in the ability to make new friends, although victims showed a significantly lower ability to make new friends compared to those who were neither victims nor aggressors. Conclusions: Cyberbullying has a significant impact on students' psychosocial well-being, especially on personal satisfaction and school happiness, making it essential to implement interventions that promote safe school environments to mitigate these negative effects. INCLUSIVE education ,DIVERSITY in education ,SELF-efficacy in teachers ,MASTER'S degree ,TEACHER educators ,ATTITUDES toward disabilities - Abstract
This study evaluates teacher self-efficacy perceptions among students in the Master's Degree in Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching (MDSE), as well as the variables influencing these perceptions and their connection to the program's training. The research sheds light on how self-efficacy affects views on concerns, feelings, and attitudes towards diversity and inclusive education in the current educational landscape. Out of 205 female and 100 male MDSE students surveyed, who are either graduates or nearing completion, data were gathered using the "Teacher Education in Secondary Education: Key Elements for Teaching in an Inclusive School for All" (FORPES-IN) questionnaire distributed across Spanish universities. Three primary instruments from the questionnaire were utilized: the Teachers' Self-Efficacy Short Form (TSES-SF), the Questionnaire for Future Secondary Education Teachers regarding Perceptions of Diversity, and the Revised Scale of Feelings, Attitudes, and Concerns about Inclusive Education (SACIE-R). Findings suggest that the majority of prospective teachers exhibit moderate-to-high levels of self-efficacy. Variables such as non-formal teaching experiences, the reason for joining the MDSE program, and regular interactions with vulnerable individuals, especially in Social and Health Science domains, moderately influence self-efficacy. This study reveals a strong link between the received training and the perceived level of self-efficacy. In particular, participants with higher self-efficacy feel better equipped to handle classroom diversity and rate the MDSE program positively. Areas for enhancement are identified, such as classroom management and diversified assessment strategies. Finally, a positive correlation is observed between high self-efficacy and positive attitudes toward disability, inclusive education principles, and reduced apprehensions about inclusive teaching. Background: Assessment of upper limb function is critical in the rehabilitation process of people with Parkinson's Disease (PD), and universally validated outcome measures are needed to allow comparisons across the practice. Moreover, the study of psychometric properties of the same tool on different clinical populations guarantees the possibility of reliably evaluating the same rehabilitation treatment in people with different clinical conditions. Aim of the study: The aim of this research was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Italian adaptation of the Jebsen Taylor Hand Function Test (JTHFT) in individuals with PD. Methods: The reliability and validity of the test were assessed in accordance with international standards. Internal consistency was measured using Cronbach's alpha, and test–retest reliability was determined via the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The construct validity and cross-cultural validity of the test were evaluated using Pearson's correlation coefficient with three assessment tools on upper limb function, independence, and quality of life, with hand grip power measured by a dynamometer and an Italian pangram. Finally, responsiveness after a one month of rehabilitation treatment was measured using the Wilcoxon rank test. Results: Fifty-two Italian people with PD were recruited. Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.556 (non-dominant hand) to 0.668 (dominant hand); ICC values ranged from 0.754 to 0.988. Construct validity showed that several statistically significant correlations were detected. Wilcoxon's test showed that the assessment tool can detect a change in this population after treatment. Conclusions: The JTHFT is a reliable, valid, and respondent tool to evaluate the upper limb and hand functionalities in PD patients. It should be added to the toolkit for measuring upper limb performance in this population, adding value to clinical evaluation and ensuring comparable results for different clinical populations and different countries. Background: This study investigates the evolution of lung cancer in the population of Burgos over more than a decade, focusing on key variables such as age, gender, histology, and stage of diagnosis. The aim is to understand how incidence rates and patterns have changed over time, especially in terms of early diagnosis. Methods: Retrospective data were collected from the Burgos University Hospital using histological or clinicoradiological methods. This data collection approach enabled a comprehensive examination of lung cancer trends in the province. Results: The results reveal an overall decrease in lung cancer incidence rates in men, offset by a steady increase in women. Histological analysis highlights a significant increase in adenocarcinoma, accounting for 43% of cases in the last year studied. Despite diagnostic advances, almost half of the diagnoses were made at stage IV, with no statistically significant change from previous years, highlighting persistent challenges in early diagnosis. Conclusions: The findings will not only inform resource management and prevention but could also have a significant impact on improved screening strategies and future lung cancer research. FUNCTIONAL status ,FUNCTIONAL assessment - Abstract
Functionality after upper limb replantation is a decisive factor when considering the success of the intervention. Therefore, its evaluation is fundamental. The aim of this article was to conduct a systematic review of upper limb functions after replantation or reimplantation, seeking to identify reported functional outcomes as well as the level and mechanism of injury. To achieve this objective, a literature search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane and Web of Science. Studies from the last 10 years which included patients with upper limb replantation and reported their functional outcomes were included. Out of 523 articles, 12 studies (n = 607) were finally included. DASH and CISS were the most commonly used assessments to report functional outcomes. In conclusion, functional outcomes after replantation are assessed using widely varying scales; therefore, due to this methodological variability, it is difficult to compare functional success between studies and further studies on functionality are needed to provide new data. Families are the primary caregivers and the main source of support for their children. Family resilience involves coping and adapting to stressful situations. This study explored the impact of previous treatment experience on parental resilience, in families, as well as the relationship between family history of communication and language disorders and parental stress. These variables were assessed through the Resilience Scale and the Parental Stress Index in parents of 220 children aged 3 to 6 years attending mainstream schools and early intervention (EI) centers in Caceres (Spain). The results revealed significant differences in resilience between parents who had received previous treatments and those who had not (p = 0.11). Furthermore, a significant association was found between having no family history of communication and language disorders and the Dysfunctional Parent–Child Interaction subscale from the Parental Stress Index (U = −2.079, p = 0.038). These findings highlight the relevance of previous experience in EI to build family resilience as resilient parents are more likely to be actively involved in their children's education and create a supportive environment. Thus, promoting resilience in educational settings may have positive effects on children's and families' quality of life during the EI process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
