3. The Poisson-Gaussian Mixture Process: A Flexible and Robust Approach for Non-Gaussian Geostatistical Modeling

Abstract

This paper introduces a novel family of geostatistical models designed to capture complex features beyond the reach of traditional Gaussian processes. The proposed family, termed the Poisson-Gaussian Mixture Process (POGAMP), is hierarchically specified, combining the infinite-dimensional dynamics of Gaussian processes with any multivariate continuous distribution. This combination is stochastically defined by a latent Poisson process, allowing the POGAMP to define valid processes with finite-dimensional distributions that can approximate any continuous distribution. Unlike other non-Gaussian geostatistical models that may fail to ensure validity of the processes by assigning arbitrary finite-dimensional distributions, the POGAMP preserves essential probabilistic properties crucial for both modeling and inference. We establish formal results regarding the existence and properties of the POGAMP, highlighting its robustness and flexibility in capturing complex spatial patterns. To support practical applications, a carefully designed MCMC algorithm is developed for Bayesian inference when the POGAMP is discretely observed over some spatial domain.

Abstract

We report the use of optically addressable spin qubits in SiC to probe the magnetic stray fields generated by a ferromagnetic microstructure lithographically patterned on the surface of a SiC crystal. The stray fields cause shifts in the resonance frequency of the spin centers. The spin resonance is driven by a micrometer-sized microwave antenna patterned adjacent to the magnetic element. The patterning of the antenna is done to ensure that the driving microwave fields are delivered locally and more efficiently compared to conventional, millimeter-sized circuits. A clear difference in the resonance frequency of the spin centers in SiC is observed at various distances to the magnetic element, for two different magnetic states. Abstract

We demonstrate a novel type of spin Hall nano-oscillator (SHNO) that allows for efficient tuning of magnetic auto-oscillations over an extended range of gigahertz frequencies, using bipolar direct currents at constant magnetic fields. This is achieved by stacking two distinct ferromagnetic layers with a platinum interlayer. In this device, the orientation of the spin polarised electrons accumulated at the top and bottom interfaces of the platinum layer is switched upon changing the polarity of the direct current. As a result, the effective anti-damping required to drive large amplitude auto-oscillations can appear either at the top or bottom magnetic layer. Tuning of the auto-oscillation frequencies by several gigahertz can be obtained by combining two materials with sufficiently different saturation magnetization. Here we show that the combination of NiFe and CoFeB can result in 3 GHz shifts in the auto-oscillation frequencies. Bipolar SHNOs as such may bring enhanced synchronisation capabilities to neuromorphic computing applications.

Abstract

We present a theory of standing spin wave (SSW) in a monoaxial chiral helimagnet. Motivated by experimental findings on the magnetic field-dependence of the resonance frequency in thin films of Cr${}$Nb$_{3} $S${}_{6}$[Goncalves et al., Phys. Rev. B95, 104415 (2017)], we examine the SSW over a chiral soliton lattice (CSL) excited by an ac magnetic field applied parallel and perpendicular to the chiral axis. For this purpose, we generalize Kittel-Pincus theories of the SSW in ferromagnetic thin films to the case of non-collinear helimagnet with the surface end spins which are softly pinned by an anisotropy field. Consequently, we found there appear two types of modes. One is a Pincus mode which is composed of a long-period Bloch wave and a short-period ripple originated from the periodic structure of the CSL. Another is a short-period Kittel ripple excited by space-periodic perturbation which exists only in the case where the ac field is applied perpendicular the chiral axis. We demonstrate that the existence of the Pincus mode and the Kittel ripple is consistent with experimentally found double resonance profile., Comment: 17 pages, 14 figures

Abstract

We assess the impact of magnetic disorder on the spin excitation spectra of the chiral helimagnetic crystal $\mathrm{CrNb_3S_6}$ using microwave resonance spectroscopy. The chiral spin soliton lattice phase (CSL), which is a prototype of a noncollinear spin system that forms periodically over a macroscopic length scale, exhibited three resonance modes over a wide frequency range. We found that the predominance of these modes depended on the degree of magnetic disorder and that disorder can be suppressed by sweeping the external field via an ideal helical state at 0~T. The macroscopic coherence of the CSL can be clearly observed through its collective dynamic behavior. Our study suggests that magnetic disorder can be used as a mechanism to control spin wave excitation in noncollinear spin systems., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figs (3 main + 2 SM)

11. RAdNet-VE: An Interest-Centric Mobile Ad Hoc Network for Vehicular Environments

Abstract

In this study, we propose a variation of the RAdNet for vehicular environments (RAdNet-VE). The proposed scheme extends the message header, mechanism for registering interest, and message forwarding mechanism of RAdNet. To obtain results, we performed simulation experiments involving two use scenarios and communication protocols developed from the Veins framework. Based on results obtained from these experiments, we compare the performance of RAdNet-VE against that of RAdNet, a basic content-centric network (CCN) using reactive data routing, (CCN$_R$), and a basic CCN using proactive data routing, CCN$_P$. These CCNs provide non-cacheable data services. Moreover, the communication radio standards adopted in the scenarios 1 and 2 were respectively IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.11p. The results shown that the performance of the RAdNet-VE was superior to than those of RAdNet, CCN$_R$ and CCN$_P$. In this sense, RAdNet-VE protocol (RVEP) presented low communication latencies among nodes of just 20.4ms (scenario 1) and 2.87 ms (scenario 2). Our protocol also presented high data delivery rates, i.e, 83.05\% (scenario 1) and 88.05\% (scenario 2). Abstract

The integration of heterogeneous modular units for building large-scale quantum networks requires engineering mechanisms that allow a suitable transduction of quantum information. Magnon-based transducers are especially attractive due to their wide range of interactions and rich nonlinear dynamics, but most of the work to date has focused on linear magnon transduction in the traditional system composed of yttrium iron garnet and diamond, two materials with difficult integrability into wafer-scale quantum circuits. In this work, we present a different approach by utilizing wafer-compatible materials to engineer a hybrid transducer that exploits magnon nonlinearities in a magnetic microdisc to address quantum spin defects in silicon carbide. The resulting interaction scheme points to the unique transduction behavior that can be obtained when complementing quantum systems with nonlinear magnonics.
