Due to the growth in the number of patients and the complexity involved in anticancer therapies, new therapeutic approaches are urgent and necessary. In this context, compounds containing the selenium atom can be employed in developing new medicines due to their potential therapeutic efficacy and unique modes of action. Furthermore, tellurium, a previously unknown element, has emerged as a promising possibility in chalcogen-containing compounds. In this study, 13 target compounds ( 9a - i , 10a-c , and 11 ) were effectively synthesized as potential anticancer agents, employing a CuI-catalyzed Csp-chalcogen bond formation procedure. The developed methodology yielded excellent results, ranging from 30 to 85%, and the compounds were carefully characterized. Eight of these compounds showed promise as potential therapeutic drugs due to their high yields and remarkable selectivity against SCC-9 cells (squamous cell carcinoma). Compound 10a , in particular, demonstrated exceptional selectivity, making it an excellent choice for cancer cell targeting while sparing healthy cells. Furthermore, complementing in silico and molecular docking studies shed light on their physical features and putative modes of action. Medical reports indicate a prevalence of pain in 50% of patients with cancer. In this context, this article investigated the antinociceptive activity of α-PHE using in vivo Sarcoma-180-induced hypernociception in mice to detail its mechanism(s) of antinociception under different conditions of treatment and tumor progression. Firsty, in vitro cytotoxic action was assessed using melanoma B-16/F-10 and S-180 murine cells and colorimetric MTT assays. For in vivo studies, acute treatment with α-PHE (6.25, 12.5, 25 and 50 mg/kg orally by gavage) was performed on the 1st day after S-180 inoculation. Subacute treatments were performed for 8 days starting on the next day (early protocol) or on day 8 after S-180 inoculation (late protocol). For all procedures, mechanical nociceptive evaluations were carried out by von Frey's technique in the subaxillary region peritumoral tissue (direct nociception) and in right legs of S-180-bearing mice (indirect nociception). α-PHE showed in vitro cytotoxic action on B-16/F-10 and S-180 (CI 50 values of 436.0 and 217.9 μg/mL), inhibition of in vivo tumor growth (ranging from 47.3 to 82.7%) and decreased direct (peritumoral tissue in subaxillary region) and indirect (right leg) mechanical nociception in Sarcoma 180-bearing mice with early and advanced tumors under acute or subacute conditions of treatment especially at doses of 25 and 50 mg/kg. It improved serum levels of GSH as well as diminished systemic lipid peroxidation, blood cytokines (interleukin-1β, -4, -6, and tumor necrosis factor-α). Such outcomes highlight α-PHE as a promising lead compound that combines antinociceptive and antineoplasic properties. Its structural simplicity make it a cost-effective alternative, justifying further mechanistic investigations and the development of pharmaceutical formulations. The method presented here consists of a minimally invasive surgical technique for osteosynthesis of transtrochanteric fractures with Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) 135°. It is indicated in the treatment of 31-A1 and 31-A2 fractures (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen Classification - AO) that meet the prerequisites required for using DHS. The surgery is performed, preferably, before 48 hours after the fracture. With the use of the same instruments as the traditional surgical technique and the aid of the C-arm, a closed reduction of the fracture and implantation of the DHS is performed by a 2-cm surgical incision, through dissection of the underlying tissues, with minimal bleeding and damage to the soft parts. In the immediate postoperative period, the patient is encouraged to orthostatism and walk with full load, which anticipates hospital discharge and favors early functional rehabilitation. Backgroung: Exposure to environmental pollutants in critical developmental windows may predispose the prostate to permanent changes in its homeostasis. Thus, it is essential to know the effects that environmental toxics, such as aluminum, can cause during the development of this gland. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of neonatal aluminum exposure on the ventral male prostate and the female prostate of 15 days old gerbils., Methods: Male and female gerbils were exposed orally to 10 mg/kg/day of aluminum chloride from the 1st to the 14th postnatal day life. At 15 days of life, gerbils were euthanized and their prostates were collected for biometric, morphological, morphometric, immunohistochemical and three-dimensional reconstruction analyzes., Results: Al exposure caused a reduction in body weight in males and a significant increase in serum testosterone levels in females. Prostate branching morphogenesis was intensified in males, who had greater length, number and area of prostatic epithelial buds. Additionally, Al altered the prostate hormonal regulation of males and females, causing up regulation of the androgen receptor and estrogen receptor alpha in the female prostate, and increased immunostaining of the androgen receptor in the ventral male prostate. Introduction: Microemulsions are thermodynamically stable translucent systems widely used for systemic delivery of drugs. The present study is the first to analyze the biotechnological potential of microemulsion systems for therapeutic purposes, through transdermal route, for pain treatment., Areas Covered: Patents were searched in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), European Patent Office (Espacenet), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI). The inclusion criteria were published patents containing the keywords; 'microemulsion' and 'transdermal' in their title or abstract. 208 patents were found. However, only those patents which mentioned in their abstract or in their description the use of microemulsion system (object of invention) for pain treatment were selected. Were excluded duplicate patents and those that did not report pharmacological use of MEs specifically for pain treatment. Thus, sixteen patents were selected and described in the present study., Expert Opinion: Patents were found that focused specifically on the development process of microemulsion systems, the inclusion of essential oils in microemulsions, which place microemulsions as delivery systems for NSAIDs and other substances, as well as microemulsions for transdermal administration. These studies reinforce the therapeutic applicability of MEs in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
