This text reports on the experience of the third edition of the Institutional Extension Program "Integrated Formative Actions" - AFIN of the Federal University of Uberlândia - UFU, at the Patos de Minas campus. This project is aimed at 3rd year high school students, high school graduates from public schools and integral scholarship holders of the private network of Patos de Minas and the region, offering a free pre-Enem course, providing a good preparation for the Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (National Examination of Highschool Education, in free translation) - ENEM. Thus, the entire structure of the project developed is described, as well as the social and educational profile of the participating students, the results of the approvals obtained at the end of the Program edition, the difficulties encountered for its accomplishment, the improvements implemented in relation to the previous editions and the impact on the local community. Este texto relata a experiência de execução da terceira edição do Programa Institucional de Extensão Ações Formativas Integradas (AFIN), da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, no campus Patos de Minas. Tal projeto é voltado para os estudantes matriculados no 3º ano do Ensino Médio, egressos do Ensino Médio oriundos de escolas públicas e bolsistas integrais da rede particular de Patos de Minas e região, oferecendo um cursinho pré-Enem gratuito, proporcionando uma preparação de qualidade para o Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio - ENEM. Sendo assim, toda a estrutura do projeto desenvolvido é descrita, bem como o perfil social e educacional do aluno cursista recebido, os resultados das aprovações obtidas ao final da edição do Programa, as dificuldades encontradas para a sua realização, as melhorias implementadas em relação às edições anteriores e o impacto sobre a comunidade local. &nbsp

The extraction of essential oils was performed by using the technique of hydrodistillation modified Clevenger apparatus, identification and quantification of the constituents was achieved by Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry, and Gas Chromatography equipped with a flame ionization detector. Assessment of allelopathic activity was evaluated with the use of the method that assesses the direct contact of essential oils on germination and vigor of lettuce seeds. The major constituents that characterize the essential oil from the flowers of Callistemon viminalis were 1, 8-cineole, α-pinene and limonene at concentrations of 66.9%, 16.0% and 10.0%, respectively. The essential oil presented allelopathic activity at intensities that varied proportionately to the concentration of the essential oil, with a reduction in the percentage of germination and the germination speed index (GSI) of lettuce seeds and in the dry mass and length of shoots and roots of lettuce seedlings.

CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior O Cerrado possui frutíferas nativas pouco conhecidas e pesquisadas, contemplando possíveis fontes de metabólitos secundários com importantes propriedades fitoquímicas a serem exploradas. Assim, este trabalho buscou avaliar a capacidade sequestradora dos radicais livres DPPH, ABTS, redução do Complexo de Fosfomolibdênio e quantificar compostos fenólicos, flavonoides, antocianinas e carotenoides totais nos extratos aquosos dos frutos das espécies vegetais Campomanesia adamantium, C. guazumifolia, C. lineatifolia e C. sessiliflora encontradas no Cerrado na Região do Alto Paranaíba em Minas Gerais. O teor de compostos fenólicos foi determinado pelo método de Folin-Ciocalteu, flavonoides e antocianinas totais pelo de Lees e Francis (1972) e carotenoides totais pelo de Lichtenthaler (1987). O extrato de C. guazumifolia apresentou maiores índices de compostos fenólicos (2.953,42 ± 141,22 mg EAG 100 g -1), flavonoides (43,17 ± 2,25 mg 100 g-1), antocianinas (7,96 ± 0,38 mg 100 g-1), carotenoides (64,06 ± 12,55 mg g-1) e de atividade antioxidante pelo DPPH (568,3 mg EBHT g-1) e ABTS (105,3 mg EBHT g-1), evidenciando elevado potencial anti-radicalar in vitro. C. adamantium também demonstrou resultados significativos de fenólicos (1.547,44 ± 79,49 mg EAG 100 g-1), flavonoides (36,63 ± 0,17 mg 100 g-1), antocianinas (1,74 ± 0,10 mg 100 g-1), carotenoides (20,65 ± 0,43 mg g-1 ), DPPH (49,1 mg EBHT g-1), ABTS (83,7 mg EBHT g-1) e complexação do fosfomolibdênio (105,1 mg EBHT g-1) evidenciando elevado potencial redutor. Sendo assim, os extratos de C. guazumifolia e C. adamantium apresentam-se potencialmente promissores para a atividade antioxidante podendo ser utilizados na prevenção e tratamento de patologias relacionadas ao estresse oxidativo. The Cerrado has little-known and researched native fruits, contemplating possible sources of secondary metabolites with important phytochemical properties to be explored. As doenças infecciosas têm sido uma importante causa de morbimortalidade em todo o mundo. Apesar da descoberta e desenvolvimento dos antibióticos, o tratamento dessas doenças atualmente nem sempre tem sido bem-sucedido devido à emergência da resistência antimicrobiana. Assim, este estudo buscou avaliar a atividade antioxidante, o conteúdo de compostos fenólicos, flavonoides totais e a ação antimicrobiana de seis extratos de plantas medicinais de ocorrência no Cerrado, Boldo (Peumus boldus), Goiaba (Psidium guajava), Assa-Peixe (Vernonia polysphaera), Abacate (Persea americana), Bálsamo (Jatropha multifida) e Eucalipto (Eucalyptus citriodora). O conteúdo de fenólicos totais foi determinado pelo método de Folin-Ciocalteu e a dosagem de flavonoides totais foi realizada pelo método de Cloreto de Alumínio. A atividade antioxidante foi avaliada usando os métodos de DPPH, ABTS e complexação do fosfomolibdênio. O extrato de Goiaba apresentou o maior rendimento de compostos fenólicos (532,56 mg EAG g-1), flavonoides totais (406,01 mg EQ g-1), atividade antioxidante pelos métodos DPPH (93,1%) e redução do complexo fosfomolibdênio (1613,3 mg EBHT g-1), demonstrando que esta espécie contém componentes antioxidantes que podem sequestrar radicais livres em condições in vitro. Utilizou-se o método de disco difusão para a determinação da atividade antimicrobiana sobre Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa e Aspergillus fumigatus. Nos testes de difusão em ágar, todos os extratos, exceto o de Assa-Peixe, revelaram promissores para o desenvolvimento de fito medicamentos inibindo o crescimento de S. aureus, com halos que variaram de 13 – 20 mm. Já nos testes de micro diluição todos os extratos foram ativos sobre S. aureus, com concentrações que variaram de 3,12 – 12,5 mg/mL, um resultado significativo, considerando que o S. aureus é um dos principais causadores de infecções hospitalares. Portanto, os extratos investigados são promissores e suas ações antioxidantes e antibacterianas devem ser minuciosamente estudadas. Despite the discovery and development of antibiotics, the treatment of these diseases today has not always been successful due to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity, the content of phenolic compounds, total flavonoids and the antimicrobial action of six extract of medicinal plants of Cerrado, Boldo (Peumus boldus), Goiaba (Psidium guajava), Assa-Peixe (Vernonia polysphaera) , Avocado (Persea americana), Balm (Jatropha multifida) and Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora). Antioxidant activity was assessed using DPPH methods, ABTS, and Phosphomolybdenum complexation. The extract of Guava showed the highest yield of phenolic compounds (532.56 mg EAG g-1), total flavonoids (406.01 mg EQ g-1), antioxidant activity by DPPH (93.1%) and reduction of the complex Phosphomolybdenum (1613.3 mg EBHT g-1), demonstrating that this species contains antioxidant components that can sequester free radicals under in vitro conditions. The diffusion disc method was used to determine the antimicrobial activity on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Aspergillus fumigatus. In the agar diffusion tests, all the extracts, except Assa-Peixe, revealed promising for the development of phytochemicals inhibiting the growth of S. aureus, with halos ranging from 13-20 mm. In the micro dilution tests, all extracts were active on S. aureus, with concentrations varying from 3.12 - 12.5 mg / mL, a significant result, considering that S. aureus is one of the main causes of hospital infections. Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) O Cromo (Cr) não apresenta função metabólica em plantas e pode ser tóxico em grandes concentrações. No ambiente ele é encontrado nos estados de oxidação III e VI, sendo o segundo mais tóxico. Nas plantas, o Cr parece ser mais tóxico para as raízes do que para a parte aérea, reduzindo severamente o crescimento radicular. O estabelecimento dos valores de prevenção (VPs) protege o solo de alterações na sua qualidade e é calculado a partir de ensaios com organismos vivos. Nesse sentido, esta pesquisa objetivou obter subsídios para determinação do valor de prevenção para Cr em solos do Estado de Minas Gerais através de ensaios de fitotoxidez. O ensaio foi realizado com quatro espécies, sendo duas monocotiledôneas (Zea mayse Sorghum bicolor) e duas eudicotiledôneas (Phaseolus vulgarise Raphanus sativus). Dois solos (LVAd e CXdb) foram contaminados artificialmente com sete concentrações de Cr (5, 10, 20, 45, 90, 200 e 400 mg kg-1 de solo seco) utilizando dicromato de K. Os efeitos dos tratamentos sobre as espécies vegetais foram avaliados por meio da medição da altura da parte aérea, comprimento de raiz, massa seca da parte aérea, massa seca de raiz, diâmetro caulinar, número de folhas, trocas gasosas e teor de nutrientes. Os dados foram submetidos a modelos não lineares por meio do programa GraphPad Prism Versão 6.0 para obter os EC´s 50. Observou-se efeito tóxico do Cr em ambos os solos, tendo as plantas cultivadas em LVAd, apresentado maior sensibilidade. O estudo traz embasamento para determinação do VP para Cr no Estado de Minas Gerais. Utilizando os EC´s 50 das duas classes de solo, obteve-se um VP (179mg kg-1) maior que o da legislação vigente (75mg kg-1). Devido ao diferente comportamento do Cr entre os solos, pode ser que haja necessidade de valores distintos para cada Classe ou de acordo com os atributos como teor de argila, t e matéria orgânica. A alteração do valor vigente pelo encontrado no estudo faria com que solos naturalmente acima do VP se enquadrassem à legislação. Chromium (Cr) has no metabolic function in plants and can be toxic in high concentrations. In the environment, it can be found in oxidation states III or VI, the second being more toxic. In plants, Cr appears to be more toxic to roots rather than to the shoot, severely reducing root growth. The establishment of prevention values (PV’s) protects from changes in soil quality and is calculated using ecotoxicological tests with living organisms. In this sense, the objective of this research was to obtain information in order to determine the prevention value for Cr in soils in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, by means of phytotoxicity tests. The test was performed with four types of plant species: two monocots (Sorghum bicolor and Zea mays), and two dicots (Phaseolus vulgaris and Raphanus sativus). Two soils (LVAd and CXdb) were artificially contaminated with seven concentrations of Cr (5, 10, 20, 45, 90, 200 and 400 mg kg-1 of dry soil) using dichromate K. We evaluated shoot height, root length, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, stem diameter, number of leaves, gas exchange and nutrient content to establish the effects of the treatments over the plant species. The data were subjected to non-linear analysis using the GraphPad Prism Version 6.0 models for EC's 50. We observed toxic effect of Cr for both soils, with plants cultivated in LVAd displaying greater sensitivity. The study provides basis for determining the PV for Cr in the state of Minas Gerais. Using EC's 50 on both soil types, we obtained a PV (179 mg kg-1) higher than that demanded in legislation (75 mg kg-1). Due to the different behavior of Cr in both soils, different values are necessary for each soil class or according to soil attributes such as clay content, effective cation exchange capacity (t) and organic matter. Changing the current prevention value for the one found in this study, would allow the soils with naturally high PV to fit the legislation.
