The geometric design of a waterway embankment depends on several factors like soil and subsoil properties, loading conditions, geometric constraints, climate & weather conditions, etc. Surface wind velocity (V) and fetch length (F) are two control factors that help to determine the wave height (H) utilizing the Taguchi Factorial design method. A non-linear equation was generated by integrating optimized H with the upstream water pressure (P). In the JAVA environment, a pseudo-code was created to solve the non-linear equation and determine the resulting hydrostatic height (hw) and crest width (b). The calculated hw and b were validated utilizing the Honey-Badger algorithm by initializing all the control factors along with P. The outcomes from the experimental analysis of Taguchi showcase that lower control factors helped to obtain the maximum hw along with b for the embankment. As per Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), maximum V was found to be the most significant control factor influencing the determination of H, hw and b of the earthen embankment. The regression squared (R²) value from the Design of Experiment (DoE) of the Taguchi method was found to be 99.21% which shows that the observed data were well fitted to the developed model for evaluating the contribution of Signal to Noise (S/N) ratio and verify the validity of optimal factor settings through confirmation experiments. The knowledge of earth pressure concepts plays a major role to design a retaining wall. The most traditional pseudo-static methodology as proposed by Mononobe–Okabe gives the direct approximation of earth pressure in seismic condition. This paper utilised the pseudo-dynamic methodology to figure out the seismic earth pressure on rigid wall with cohesion less backfill along with considering the effects of time, phase difference, soil amplification factor along with the variation in seismic velocities. The main contribution is the soil amplification and backfill inclination which is not given much attention before. By considering the above factors coefficients the seismic earth pressure against retaining wall is determined. The coefficient of seismic passive earth pressure decreases with the increase of soil amplification keeping other properties as standard values. The value of coefficient of seismic active earth pressure increases with increase of soil amplification. The comparison is also done without taking backfill angle for both coefficients of seismic earth pressures. The influence of all the soil properties like backfill angle, wall friction angle, soil friction angle, non-dimensional parameters are shown in tabular format as well as in the graphical with respect to the soil amplification which is more realistic towards the design. The designing of retaining walls requires the complete knowledge of earth pressure distribution. Under earthquake conditions the design needs special attention to reduce the devastating effect, but under seismic conditions, the available literature mostly uses the pseudo-static analytical solution as an approximate to the real dynamic nature of the complex problem. This paper shows a detailed study on the seismic passive earth thrust behind a cantilever retaining wall with inclined backfill surface by pseudo-dynamic analysis. A planar failure surface has been considered. The effect of variation of parameters such as soil friction angle, wall friction angle and back fill inclination have been explored. A complete analysis shows that the time dependent non-linear behaviour of the pressure distribution obtained in the present method results in more realistic design values of earth pressures under earthquake conditions. We developed an efficient method for synthesizing glycosyl fluorides from glycosyl hemiacetals using benzene-1,3-disulfonyl fluoride ( S2 ) as the fluorinating agent in combination with the base DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene) under mild conditions. This approach enabled the successful synthesis of 17 glycosyl fluorides with various functional groups, including disaccharides and deoxysulfates, with yields of up to 99%. The utility of these synthesized glycosyl fluorides was further demonstrated in the synthesis of important O - and C -glycosides.
