1. Back to Supervision: Boosting Word Boundary Detection through Frame Classification

Abstract: Speech segmentation at both word and phoneme levels is crucial for various speech processing tasks. It significantly aids in extracting meaningful units from an utterance, thus enabling the generation of discrete elements. In this work we propose a model-agnostic framework to perform word boundary detection in a supervised manner also employing a labels augmentation technique and an output-frame selection strategy. We trained and tested on the Buckeye dataset and only tested on TIMIT one, using state-of-the-art encoder models, including pre-trained solutions (Wav2Vec 2.0 and HuBERT), as well as convolutional and convolutional recurrent networks. Our method, with the HuBERT encoder, surpasses the performance of other state-of-the-art architectures, whether trained in supervised or self-supervised settings on the same datasets. Specifically, we achieved F-values of 0.8427 on the Buckeye dataset and 0.7436 on the TIMIT dataset, along with R-values of 0.8489 and 0.7807, respectively. These results establish a new state-of-the-art for both datasets. Beyond the immediate task, our approach offers a robust and efficient preprocessing method for future research in audio tokenization.

Abstract: We present measurements of $B \to K{}^{*}(892)\gamma$ decays using $365\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected from 2019 to 2022 by the Belle~II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The data sample contains $(387 \pm 6) \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events. We measure branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) for both $B^{0}\to K{}^{*0}\gamma$ and $B^{+}\to K{}^{*+}\gamma$ decays. The difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) and the isospin asymmetry ($\Delta_{0+}$) between these neutral and charged channels are also measured. We obtain the following branching fractions and $C\!P$ asymmetries: $\mathcal{B} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (4.14 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.11 ) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (4.02 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.13 )\times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (-3.3 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.4 )\%$, and $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (-0.7 \pm 2.9 \pm 0.6 )\%$. The measured difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries is $\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P} = (+2.6 \pm 3.8 \pm 0.7 )\%$, and the measured isospin asymmetry is $\Delta_{0+} = (+5.0 \pm 2.0 \pm 1.5 )\%$. The first uncertainties listed are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are consistent with world-average values and theory predictions.

3. Does the fluid-static equilibrium of a self-gravitating isothermal sphere of van der Waals' gas present multiple solutions?

Abstract: We take up the investigation we had to put in the future-work stack at the end of Sec.VB2 of Ref.2, in which we pointed out the obvious necessity to inquire about existence or absence of values of the characteristic numbers $\alpha$ and $\beta$ in correspondence to which the perfect-gas model's self gravitational effects, namely upper boundedness of the gravitational number, spiraling behavior of peripheral density, oscillating behavior of central density, and existence of multiple solutions corresponding to the same value of the gravitational number, appear also for the van der Waals' model. The development of our investigation brings to the conversion of our M$_{2}$ scheme based on a second-order differential equation into an equivalent system of two first-order differential equations that incorporates Milne's homology invariant variables. The converted scheme 1oM$_2$ turns out to be much more efficacious than the M$_{2}$ scheme in terms of numerical calculations' easiness and richness of results. We use the perfect-gas model as benchmark to test the 1oM$_2$ scheme; we re-derive familiar results and put them in a more general and rational perspective that paves the way to deal with the van der Waals' gas model. We introduce variable transformations that turn out to be the key to study (almost) analytically the monotonicity of the peripheral density with respect to variations of the gravitational number. The study brings to the proof that the gravitational number is not constrained by upper boundedness, the peripheral density does not spiral, and the central density does not oscillate for any couple of values assumed by the characteristic numbers $\alpha$ and $\beta$; however, multiple solutions corresponding to the same value of the gravitational number can exist but their genesis is completely different from that of the perfect-gas model's multiple solutions. We provide the boundary in the $\alpha,\beta$ plane between the two regions of solution's uniqueness and multiplicity. Finally, by the application of the 1oM$_2$ scheme, we resolve the mystery of the missing steep curve corresponding to Aronson and Hansen's 60km case [29] that we unsuccessfully chased in Ref.2 and we even detect another solution that had somehow escaped the attention of those authors., Comment: 21 pages, 26 figures, 1 table

Abstract: The recent detection of extended $\gamma$-ray emission around middle-aged pulsars is interpreted as inverse-Compton scattering of ambient photons by electron-positron pairs escaping the pulsar wind nebula, which are confined near the system by unclear mechanisms. This emerging population of $\gamma$-ray sources was first discovered at TeV energies and remains underexplored in the GeV range. To address this, we conducted a systematic search for extended sources along the Galactic plane using 14 years of Fermi-LAT data above 10 GeV, aiming to identify a number of pulsar halo candidates and extend our view to lower energies. The search covered the inner Galactic plane ($\lvert l\rvert\leq$ 100$^{\circ}$, $\lvert b\rvert\leq$ 1$^{\circ}$) and the positions of known TeV sources and bright pulsars, yielding broader astrophysical interest. We found 40 such sources, forming the Second Fermi Galactic Extended Sources Catalog (2FGES), most with 68% containment radii smaller than 1.0$^{\circ}$ and relatively hard spectra with photon indices below 2.5. We assessed detection robustness using field-specific alternative interstellar emission models and by inspecting significance maps. Noting 13 sources previously known as extended in the 4FGL-DR3 catalog and five dubious sources from complex regions, we report 22 newly detected extended sources above 10 GeV. Of these, 13 coincide with H.E.S.S., HAWC, or LHAASO sources; six coincide with bright pulsars (including four also coincident with TeV sources); six are associated with 4FGL point sources only; and one has no association in the scanned catalogs. 5. On strong posterior contraction rates for Besov-Laplace priors in the white noise model

Abstract: In this article, we investigate the problem of estimating a spatially inhomogeneous function and its derivatives in the white noise model using Besov-Laplace priors. We show that smoothness-matching priors attains minimax optimal posterior contraction rates, in strong Sobolev metrics, over the Besov spaces $B^\beta_{11}$, $\beta > d/2$, closing a gap in the existing literature. Our strong posterior contraction rates also imply that the posterior distributions arising from Besov-Laplace priors with matching regularity enjoy a desirable plug-in property for derivative estimation, entailing that the push-forward measures under differential operators optimally recover the derivatives of the unknown regression function. The proof of our results relies on the novel approach to posterior contraction rates, based on Wasserstein distance, recently developed by Dolera, Favaro and Mainini (Probability Theory and Related Fields, 2024). Abstract: The dynamics of growth and innovation often exhibit sudden, explosive surges, where systems remain quasi stable for extended periods before accelerating dramatically-often surpassing traditional exponential growth. This pattern is evident across various domains, including world population increases and rapid technological advancements. Although these phenomena share common characteristics, they are driven by different underlying mechanisms. In this paper, we introduce a unified framework to capture these phenomenologies through a theory of combinatorial innovation. Inspired by the Theory of the Adjacent Possible, we model growth and innovation as emerging from the recombination processes of existing elements of a system. By formalizing these qualitative ideas, we provide a mathematical structure that explains diverse phenomena, enables cross-system comparisons, and offers grounded predictions for future growth trajectories. Abstract: This article introduces a groundbreaking analytical workflow designed for the holistic characterisation, modelling and physical simulation of device heterostructures. Our innovative workflow autonomously, comprehensively and locally characterises the crystallographic information and 3D orientation of the crystal phases, the elemental composition, and the strain maps of devices from (scanning) transmission electron microscopy data. It converts a manual characterisation process that traditionally takes days into an automatic routine completed in minutes. This is achieved through a physics-guided artificial intelligence model that combines unsupervised and supervised machine learning in a modular way to provide a representative 3D description of the devices, materials structures, or samples under analysis. To culminate the process, we integrate the extracted knowledge to automate the generation of both 3D finite element and atomic models of millions of atoms acting as digital twins, enabling simulations that yield essential physical and chemical insights crucial for understanding the device's behaviour in practical applications. We prove this end-to-end workflow with a state-of-the-art materials platform based on SiGe planar heterostructures for hosting coherent and scalable spin qubits. Our workflow connects representative digital twins of the experimental devices with their theoretical properties to reveal the true impact that every atom in the structure has on their electronic properties, and eventually, into their functional quantum performance. Notably, the versatility of our workflow is demonstrated through its successful application to a wide array of materials systems, device configurations and sample morphologies.

Abstract: We measure the time-integrated CP asymmetry in $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}$ decays reconstructed in $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow c\overline{c}$ events collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments. The corresponding data samples have integrated luminosities of 980 fb$^{-1}$ and 428 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The $D^{0}$ decays are required to originate from the $D^{*+} \rightarrow D^{0}\pi^{+}$ decay, which determines the charm flavor at production time. A control sample of $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ decays is used to correct for production and detection asymmetries. Abstract: This paper underscores the importance of environmental monitoring, and specifically of freshwater ecosystems, which play a critical role in sustaining life and global economy. Despite their importance, insufficient data availability prevents a comprehensive understanding of these ecosystems, thereby impeding informed decision-making concerning their preservation. Aerial-aquatic robots are identified as effective tools for freshwater sensing, offering rapid deployment and avoiding the need of using ships and manned teams. To advance the field of aerial aquatic robots, this paper conducts a comprehensive review of air-water transitions focusing on the water entry strategy of existing prototypes. This analysis also highlights the safety risks associated with each transition and proposes a set of design requirements relating to robots' tasks, mission objectives, and safety measures. Abstract: We study a flaring activity of the HSP Mrk421 that was characterized from radio to very-high-energy (VHE; E $>0.1$TeV) gamma rays with MAGIC, Fermi-LAT, Swift, XMM-Newton and several optical and radio telescopes. These observations included, for the first time for a gamma-ray flare of a blazar, simultaneous X-ray polarization measurements with IXPE. We find substantial variability in both X-rays and VHE gamma rays throughout the campaign, with the highest VHE flux above 0.2 TeV occurring during the IXPE observing window, and exceeding twice the flux of the Crab Nebula. However, the VHE and X-ray spectra are on average softer, and the correlation between these two bands weaker that those reported in previous flares of Mrk421. IXPE reveals an X-ray polarization degree significantly higher than that at radio and optical frequencies. The X-ray polarization angle varies by $\sim$100$^\circ$ on timescales of days, and the polarization degree changes by more than a factor 4. The highest X-ray polarization degree reaches 26%, around which a X-ray counter-clockwise hysteresis loop is measured with XMM-Newton. It suggests that the X-ray emission comes from particles close to the high-energy cutoff, hence possibly probing an extreme case of the Turbulent Extreme Multi-Zone model. We model the broadband emission with a simplified stratified jet model throughout the flare. The polarization measurements imply an electron distribution in the X-ray emitting region with a very high minimum Lorentz factor, which is expected in electron-ion plasma, as well as a variation of the emitting region size up to a factor of three during the flaring activity. We find no correlation between the fluxes and the evolution of the model parameters, which indicates a stochastic nature of the underlying physical mechanism. Abstract: We perform a model-independent measurement of the $D^0$-$\overline{D}{}^0$ mixing parameters using samples of $e^+e^-$-collision data collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments that have integrated luminosities of $951\ \text{fb}^{-1}$ and $408\ \text{fb}^{-1}$, respectively. Approximately $2.05\times10^6$ neutral $D$ mesons are reconstructed in the $D^0\rightarrow K^0_{S}\pi^+\pi^-$ channel, with the neutral $D$ flavor tagged by the charge of the pion in the $D^{*+}\rightarrow D^0\pi^+$ decay. Assuming charge-parity symmetry, the mixing parameters are measured to be $ x = (4.0\pm1.7\pm0.4)\times 10^{-3} $ and $ y = (2.9\pm1.4\pm0.3)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with previous determinations.

Abstract: OT 081 is a well-known, luminous blazar that is remarkably variable in many energy bands. We present the first broadband study of the source which includes very-high-energy (VHE, $E>$100\,GeV) $\gamma$-ray data taken by the MAGIC and H.E.S.S. imaging Cherenkov telescopes. The discovery of VHE $\gamma$-ray emission happened during a high state of $\gamma$-ray activity in July 2016, observed by many instruments from radio to VHE $\gamma$-rays. We identify four states of activity of the source, one of which includes VHE $\gamma$-ray emission. Variability in the VHE domain is found on daily timescales. The intrinsic VHE spectrum can be described by a power-law with index $3.27\pm0.44_{\rm stat}\pm0.15_{\rm sys}$ (MAGIC) and $3.39\pm0.58_{\rm stat}\pm0.64_{\rm sys}$ (H.E.S.S.) in the energy range of 55--300\,GeV and 120--500\,GeV, respectively. The broadband emission cannot be sucessfully reproduced by a simple one-zone synchrotron self-Compton model. Instead, an additional external Compton component is required. We test a lepto-hadronic model that reproduces the dataset well and a proton-synchrotron dominated model that requires an extreme proton luminosity. Emission models that are able to successfully represent the data place the emitting region well outside of the Broad Line Region (BLR) to a location at which the radiative environment is dominated by the infrared thermal radiation field of the dusty torus. In the scenario described by this flaring activity, the source appears to be an FSRQ, in contrast with past categorizations. 13. Statistical properties of microphase and bubbly phase-separated active fluids

Abstract: In phase-separated active fluids, the Ostwald process can go into reverse leading to either microphase separation or bubbly phase separation. We show that the latter is formed of two macroscopic regions that are occupied by the homogeneous fluid and by the microphase separated one. Within the microphase separated fluid, the relative rate of the Ostwald process, coalescence, and nucleation determines whether the size distribution of mesoscopic domains is narrowly peaked or displays a broad range of sizes before attaining a cutoff independent of system-size. Our results are obtained via large-scale simulations of a minimal field theory for active phase separation and reproduced by an effective model in which the degrees of freedom are the locations and sizes of the microphase-separated domains.

14. PuLsE: Accurate and Robust Ultrasound-based Continuous Heart-Rate Monitoring on a Wrist-Worn IoT Device

Abstract: This work explores the feasibility of employing ultrasound (US) US technology in a wrist-worn IoT device for low-power, high-fidelity heart-rate (HR) extraction. US offers deep tissue penetration and can monitor pulsatile arterial blood flow in large vessels and the surrounding tissue, potentially improving robustness and accuracy compared to PPG. We present an IoT wearable system prototype utilizing a commercial microcontroller MCU employing the onboard ADC to capture high frequency US signals and an innovative low-power US pulser. An envelope filter lowers the bandwidth of the US signal by a factor of >5x, reducing the system's acquisition requirements without compromising accuracy (correlation coefficient between HR extracted from enveloped and raw signals, r(92)=0.99, p<0.001). The full signal processing pipeline is ported to fixed point arithmetic for increased energy efficiency and runs entirely onboard. The system has an average power consumption of 5.8mW, competitive with PPG based systems, and the HR extraction algorithm requires only 68kB of RAM and 71ms of processing time on an ARM Cortex-M4 MCU. The system is estimated to run continuously for more than 7 days on a smartwatch battery. To accurately evaluate the proposed circuit and algorithm and identify the anatomical location on the wrist with the highest accuracy for HR extraction, we collected a dataset from 10 healthy adults at three different wrist positions. The dataset comprises roughly 5 hours of HR data with an average of 80.6+-16.3 bpm. During recording, we synchronized the established ECG gold standard with our US-based method. The comparisons yields a Pearson correlation coefficient of r(92)=0.99, p<0.001 and a mean error of 0.69+-1.99 bpm in the lateral wrist position near the radial artery. Abstract: Imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs) are used to observe very high-energy photons from the ground. Gamma rays are indirectly detected through the Cherenkov light emitted by the air showers they induce. The new generation of experiments, in particular the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO), sets ambitious goals for discoveries of new gamma-ray sources and precise measurements of the already discovered ones. To achieve these goals, both hardware and data analysis must employ cutting-edge techniques. This also applies to the LST-1, the first IACT built for the CTAO, which is currently taking data on the Canary island of La Palma. This paper introduces a new event reconstruction technique for IACT data, aiming to improve the image reconstruction quality and the discrimination between the signal and the background from misidentified hadrons and electrons. The technique models the development of the extensive air shower signal, recorded as a waveform per pixel, seen by CTAO telescopes' cameras. Model parameters are subsequently passed to random forest regressors and classifiers to extract information on the primary particle. The new reconstruction was applied to simulated data and to data from observations of the Crab Nebula performed by the LST-1. The event reconstruction method presented here shows promising performance improvements. The angular and energy resolution, and the sensitivity, are improved by 10 to 20% over most of the energy range. At low energy, improvements reach up to 22%, 47%, and 50%, respectively. 16. On the Sparsity of the Strong Lottery Ticket Hypothesis

Abstract: Considerable research efforts have recently been made to show that a random neural network $N$ contains subnetworks capable of accurately approximating any given neural network that is sufficiently smaller than $N$, without any training. This line of research, known as the Strong Lottery Ticket Hypothesis (SLTH), was originally motivated by the weaker Lottery Ticket Hypothesis, which states that a sufficiently large random neural network $N$ contains \emph{sparse} subnetworks that can be trained efficiently to achieve performance comparable to that of training the entire network $N$. Despite its original motivation, results on the SLTH have so far not provided any guarantee on the size of subnetworks. Such limitation is due to the nature of the main technical tool leveraged by these results, the Random Subset Sum (RSS) Problem. Informally, the RSS Problem asks how large a random i.i.d. sample $\Omega$ should be so that we are able to approximate any number in $[-1,1]$, up to an error of $ \epsilon$, as the sum of a suitable subset of $\Omega$. We provide the first proof of the SLTH in classical settings, such as dense and equivariant networks, with guarantees on the sparsity of the subnetworks. Central to our results, is the proof of an essentially tight bound on the Random Fixed-Size Subset Sum Problem (RFSS), a variant of the RSS Problem in which we only ask for subsets of a given size, which is of independent interest.

Abstract: The multiplicities of positive and negative pions, kaons and unidentified hadrons produced in deep-inelastic scattering are measured in bins of the Bjorken scaling variable $x$, the relative virtual-photon energy $y$ and the fraction of the virtual-photon energy transferred to the final-state hadron $z$. Data were obtained by the COMPASS Collaboration using a 160 GeV muon beam of both electric charges and a liquid hydrogen target. These measurements cover the kinematic domain with photon virtuality $Q^2 > 1$ (GeV/$c)^2$, $0.004 < x < 0.4$, $0.1 < y < 0.7$ and $0.2 < z < 0.85$, in accordance with the kinematic domain used in earlier published COMPASS multiplicity measurements with an isoscalar target. The calculation of radiative corrections was improved by using the Monte Carlo generator DJANGOH, which results in up to 12\% larger corrections in the low-$x$ region., Comment: 19 pages, 29 figures

Abstract: Augmenting classical epidemiological models with information from the social sciences helps unveil the interplay between contagion dynamics and social responses. However, multidisciplinary integration of social analysis and epidemiological modelling is often challenging, due to scarcity of vast and reliable data sources and because ad hoc modelling assumptions may not reproduce empirically observed patters. Here, we test the hypothesis that awareness and information spreading straightforwardly translates into behavioural responses, analysing empirical data to generate insights about their dynamics and relationships. We employ such results to build a data-informed behavioural-epidemiological model that elucidates the impact of compliant behaviours and the role of centralised regulations in mitigating epidemics. We investigate model properties and its benefits in integrating theoretical modelling and data.

19. Application of zero-noise extrapolation-based quantum error mitigation to a silicon spin qubit

Abstract: As quantum computing advances towards practical applications, reducing errors remains a crucial frontier for developing near-term devices. Errors in the quantum gates and quantum state readout could result in noisy circuits, which would prevent the acquisition of the exact expectation values of the observables. Although ultimate robustness to errors is known to be achievable by quantum error correction-based fault-tolerant quantum computing, its successful implementation demands large-scale quantum processors with low average error rates that are not yet widely available. In contrast, quantum error mitigation (QEM) offers more immediate and practical techniques, which do not require extensive resources and can be readily applied to existing quantum devices to improve the accuracy of the expectation values. Here, we report the implementation of a zero-noise extrapolation-based error mitigation technique on a silicon spin qubit platform. This technique has recently been successfully demonstrated for other platforms such as superconducting qubits, trapped-ion qubits, and photonic processors. We first explore three methods for amplifying noise on a silicon spin qubit: global folding, local folding, and pulse stretching, using a standard randomized benchmarking protocol. We then apply global folding-based zero-noise extrapolation to the state tomography and achieve a state fidelity of 99.96% (98.52%), compared to the unmitigated fidelity of 75.82% (82.16%) for different preparation states. The results show that the zero-noise extrapolation technique is a versatile approach that is generally adaptable to quantum computing platforms with different noise characteristics through appropriate noise amplification methods.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction and time-dependent charge-parity ($CP$) decay-rate asymmetries in $B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^0$ decays. The data sample was collected with the Belle~II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider in 2019-2022 and contains $(387\pm 6)\times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ meson pairs from $\Upsilon(4S)$ decays. We reconstruct $392\pm 24$ signal decays and fit the $CP$ parameters from the distribution of the proper-decay-time difference of the two $B$ mesons. We measure the branching fraction to be $B(B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^0)=(2.02 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}$ and the direct and mixing-induced $CP$ asymmetries to be $C_{CP}=0.13 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.03$ and $S_{CP}=-0.88 \pm 0.17 \pm 0.03$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe mixing-induced $CP$ violation with a significance of $5.0$ standard deviations for the first time in this mode.

22. 'It's Your Turn': A Novel Channel Contention Mechanism for Improving Wi-Fi's Reliability

Abstract: The next generation of Wi-Fi, i.e., the IEEE 802.11bn (aka Wi-Fi 8), is not only expected to increase its performance and provide extended capabilities but also aims to offer a reliable service. Given that one of the main sources of unreliability in IEEE 802.11 stems from the current distributed channel access, which is based on Listen-Before-Talk (LBT), the development of novel contention schemes gains importance for Wi-Fi 8 and beyond. In this paper, we propose a new channel contention mechanism, "It's Your Turn" (IYT), that extends the existing Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) and aims at improving the reliability of distributed LBT by providing ordered device transmissions thanks to neighboring activity awareness. Using simulation results, we show that our mechanism strives to provide reliable performance by controlling the channel access delay. We prove the versatility of IYT against different topologies, coexistence with legacy devices, and increasing network densities.

23. Uncertainty-Aware Fairness-Adaptive Classification Trees

Abstract: In an era where artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms increasingly impact human life, it is crucial to develop models that account for potential discrimination in their predictions. This paper tackles this problem by introducing a new classification tree algorithm using a novel splitting criterion that incorporates fairness adjustments into the tree-building process. The proposed method integrates a fairness-aware impurity measure that balances predictive accuracy with fairness across protected groups. By ensuring that each splitting node considers both the gain in classification error and the fairness, our algorithm encourages splits that mitigate discrimination. Importantly, in penalizing unfair splits, we account for the uncertainty in the fairness metric by utilizing its confidence interval instead of relying on its point estimate. Abstract: This paper introduces to a structured application of the One-Class approach and the One-Class-One-Network model for supervised classification tasks, specifically addressing a vowel phonemes classification case study within the Automatic Speech Recognition research field. Through pseudo-Neural Architecture Search and Hyper-Parameters Tuning experiments conducted with an informed grid-search methodology, we achieve classification accuracy comparable to nowadays complex architectures (90.0 - 93.7%). Despite its simplicity, our model prioritizes generalization of language context and distributed applicability, supported by relevant statistical and performance metrics. 26. Reducing disorder in Ge quantum wells by using thick SiGe barriers

Abstract: We investigate the disorder properties of two-dimensional hole gases in Ge/SiGe heterostructures grown on Ge wafers, using thick SiGe barriers to mitigate the influence of the semiconductor-dielectric interface. Across several heterostructure field effect transistors we measure an average maximum mobility of $(4.4 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{6}~\mathrm{cm^2/Vs}$ at a saturation density of $(1.72 \pm 0.03) \times 10^{11}~\mathrm{cm^{-2}}$, corresponding to a long mean free path of $(30 \pm 1)~\mathrm{\mu m}$. The highest measured mobility is $4.68 \times 10^{6}~\mathrm{cm^2/Vs}$. We identify uniform background impurities and interface roughness as the dominant scattering mechanisms limiting mobility in a representative device, and we evaluate a percolation-induced critical density of $(4.5 \pm 0.1)\times 10^{9} ~\mathrm{cm^{-2}}$. This low-disorder heterostructure, according to simulations, may support the electrostatic confinement of holes in gate-defined quantum dots.

27. Lightweight Diffusion Models for Resource-Constrained Semantic Communication

Abstract: Recently, generative semantic communication models have proliferated as they are revolutionizing semantic communication frameworks, improving their performance, and opening the way to novel applications. Despite their impressive ability to regenerate content from the compressed semantic information received, generative models pose crucial challenges for communication systems in terms of high memory footprints and heavy computational load. In this paper, we present a novel Quantized GEnerative Semantic COmmunication framework, Q-GESCO. The core method of Q-GESCO is a quantized semantic diffusion model capable of regenerating transmitted images from the received semantic maps while simultaneously reducing computational load and memory footprint thanks to the proposed post-training quantization technique. Q-GESCO is robust to different channel noises and obtains comparable performance to the full precision counterpart in different scenarios saving up to 75% memory and 79% floating point operations. This allows resource-constrained devices to exploit the generative capabilities of Q-GESCO, widening the range of applications and systems for generative semantic communication frameworks. Abstract: Cepheid masses continue to be important tests of evolutionary tracks for intermediate mass stars as well as important predictors of their future fate. For systems where the secondary is a B star, {\it Hubble Space Telescope} ultraviolet spectra have been obtained. From these spectra a temperature can be derived, and from this a mass of the companion M$_2$. Once {\it Gaia} DR4 is available, proper motions can be used to determine the inclination of the orbit. Combining mass of the companion, M$_2$, the mass function from the ground-based orbit of the Cepheid and the inclination produces the mass of the Cepheid, M$_1$. Abstract: An abstract topological graph (AT-graph) is a pair $A=(G,\mathcal{X})$, where $G=(V,E)$ is a graph and $\mathcal{X} \subseteq {E \choose 2}$ is a set of pairs of edges of $G$. A realization of $A$ is a drawing $\Gamma_A$ of $G$ in the plane such that any two edges $e_1,e_2$ of $G$ cross in $\Gamma_A$ if and only if $(e_1,e_2) \in \mathcal{X}$; $\Gamma_A$ is simple if any two edges intersect at most once (either at a common endpoint or at a proper crossing). The AT-graph Realizability (ATR) problem asks whether an input AT-graph admits a realization. The version of this problem that requires a simple realization is called Simple AT-graph Realizability (SATR). It is a classical result that both ATR and SATR are NP-complete. In this paper, we study the SATR problem from a new structural perspective. More precisely, we consider the size $\mathrm{\lambda}(A)$ of the largest connected component of the crossing graph of any realization of $A$, i.e., the graph ${\cal C}(A) = (E, \mathcal{X})$. This parameter represents a natural way to measure the level of interplay among edge crossings. First, we prove that SATR is NP-complete when $\mathrm{\lambda}(A) \geq 6$. On the positive side, we give an optimal linear-time algorithm that solves SATR when $\mathrm{\lambda}(A) \leq 3$ and returns a simple realization if one exists. Our algorithm is based on several ingredients, in particular the reduction to a new embedding problem subject to constraints that require certain pairs of edges to alternate (in the rotation system), and a sequence of transformations that exploit the interplay between alternation constraints and the SPQR-tree and PQ-tree data structures to eventually arrive at a simpler embedding problem that can be solved with standard techniques., Comment: Short version with less content accepted to ISAAC 2024

30. Exact Algorithms for Clustered Planarity with Linear Saturators

Abstract: We study Clustered Planarity with Linear Saturators, which is the problem of augmenting an $n$-vertex planar graph whose vertices are partitioned into independent sets (called clusters) with paths - one for each cluster - that connect all the vertices in each cluster while maintaining planarity. We show that the problem can be solved in time $2^{O(n)}$ for both the variable and fixed embedding case. Moreover, we show that it can be solved in subexponential time $2^{O(\sqrt{n}\log n)}$ in the fixed embedding case if additionally the input graph is connected. The latter time complexity is tight under the Exponential-Time Hypothesis. We also show that $n$ can be replaced with the vertex cover number of the input graph by providing a linear (resp. polynomial) kernel for the variable-embedding (resp. fixed-embedding) case; these results contrast the NP-hardness of the problem on graphs of bounded treewidth (and even on trees). Abstract: Instruments for gamma-ray astronomy at Very High Energies ($E>100\,{\rm GeV}$) have traditionally derived their scientific results through proprietary data and software. Data standardisation has become a prominent issue in this field both as a requirement for the dissemination of data from the next generation of gamma-ray observatories and as an effective solution to realise public data legacies of current-generation instruments. Specifications for a standardised gamma-ray data format have been proposed as a community effort and have already been successfully adopted by several instruments. We present the first production of standardised data from the Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov (MAGIC) telescopes. We converted $166\,{\rm h}$ of observations from different sources and validated their analysis with the open-source software Gammapy. We consider six data sets representing different scientific and technical analysis cases and compare the results obtained analysing the standardised data with open-source software against those produced with the MAGIC proprietary data and software. Aiming at a systematic production of MAGIC data in this standardised format, we also present the implementation of a database-driven pipeline automatically performing the MAGIC data reduction from the calibrated down to the standardised data level. In all the cases selected for the validation, we obtain results compatible with the MAGIC proprietary software, both for the manual and for the automatic data productions. Part of the validation data set is also made publicly available, thus representing the first large public release of MAGIC data. 32. Exploring LLM-Driven Explanations for Quantum Algorithms

Abstract: Background: Quantum computing is a rapidly growing new programming paradigm that brings significant changes to the design and implementation of algorithms. Understanding quantum algorithms requires knowledge of physics and mathematics, which can be challenging for software developers. Aims: In this work, we provide a first analysis of how LLMs can support developers' understanding of quantum code. Method: We empirically analyse and compare the quality of explanations provided by three widely adopted LLMs (Gpt3.5, Llama2, and Tinyllama) using two different human-written prompt styles for seven state-of-the-art quantum algorithms. We also analyse how consistent LLM explanations are over multiple rounds and how LLMs can improve existing descriptions of quantum algorithms. Results: Llama2 provides the highest quality explanations from scratch, while Gpt3.5 emerged as the LLM best suited to improve existing explanations. In addition, we show that adding a small amount of context to the prompt significantly improves the quality of explanations. Finally, we observe how explanations are qualitatively and syntactically consistent over multiple rounds. Conclusions: This work highlights promising results, and opens challenges for future research in the field of LLMs for quantum code explanation. Future work includes refining the methods through prompt optimisation and parsing of quantum code explanations, as well as carrying out a systematic assessment of the quality of explanations.

Abstract: We perform the first search for $C\!P$ violation in ${D_{(s)}^{+}\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}}$ decays. We use a combined data set from the Belle and Belle II experiments, which study $e^+e^-$ collisions at center-of-mass energies at or near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. We use 980 fb$^{-1}$ of data from Belle and 428 fb$^{-1}$ of data from Belle~II. We measure six $C\!P$-violating asymmetries that are based on triple products and quadruple products of the momenta of final-state particles, and also the particles' helicity angles. We obtain a precision at the level of 0.5% for $D^+\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decays, and better than 0.3% for $D^+_{s}\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decays. No evidence of $C\!P$ violation is found. Our results for the triple-product asymmetries are the most precise to date for singly-Cabibbo-suppressed $D^+$ decays. 34. Center vortices and localized Dirac modes in the deconfined phase of 2+1 dimensional lattice $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory

Abstract: We study the deconfinement transition in 2+1 dimensional lattice $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory both as a percolation transition of center vortices and as a localization transition for the low-lying Dirac modes. We study in detail the critical properties of the Anderson transition in the Dirac spectrum in the deconfined phase, showing that it is of BKT type; and the critical properties of the center-vortex percolation transition, showing that they differ from those of ordinary two-dimensional percolation. We then study the relation between localized modes and center vortices in the deconfined phase, identifying the simple center-vortex structures that mainly support the localized Dirac modes. As the system transitions to the confined phase, center vortices merge together into an infinite cluster, causing the low Dirac modes to delocalize., Comment: 21 pages, 24 figures

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the azimuthal anisotropy of J$/\psi$ at forward rapidity ($1.2<|\eta|<2.2$) in Au$+$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The data were collected by the PHENIX experiment in 2014 and 2016 with integrated luminosity of 14.5~nb$^{-1}$. The second Fourier coefficient ($v_2$) of the azimuthal distribution of $J/\psi$ is determined as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) using the event-plane method. The measurements were performed for several selections of collision centrality: 0\%--50\%, 10\%--60\%, and 10\%-40\%. We find that in all cases the values of $v_2(p_T)$, which quantify the elliptic flow of J$/\psi$, are consistent with zero. The results are consistent with measurements at midrapidity, indicating no significant elliptic flow of the J$/\psi$ within the quark-gluon-plasma medium at collision energies of $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV., Comment: 369 authors from 72 institutions, 12 pages, 7 figures, 5 tables. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review C. Abstract: Reservoir computing (RC) is an effective method for predicting chaotic systems by using a high-dimensional dynamic reservoir with fixed internal weights, while keeping the learning phase linear, which simplifies training and reduces computational complexity compared to fully trained recurrent neural networks (RNNs). Quantum reservoir computing (QRC) uses the exponential growth of Hilbert spaces in quantum systems, allowing for greater information processing, memory capacity, and computational power. However, the original QRC proposal requires coherent injection of inputs multiple times, complicating practical implementation. We present a hybrid quantum-classical approach that implements memory through classical post-processing of quantum measurements. This approach avoids the need for multiple coherent input injections and is evaluated on benchmark tasks, including the chaotic Mackey-Glass time series prediction. We tested our model on two physical platforms: a fully connected Ising model and a Rydberg atom array. 38. On the Satake correspondence for the equivariant quantum differential equations and qKZ difference equations of Grassmannians

Abstract: We consider the joint system of equivariant quantum differential equations (qDE) and qKZ difference equations for the Grassmannian $G(k,n)$, which parametrizes $k$-dimensional subspaces of $\mathbb{C}^n$. First, we establish a connection between this joint system for $G(k,n)$ and the corresponding system for the projective space $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$. Specifically, we show that, under suitable \textit{Satake identifications} of the equivariant cohomologies of $G(k,n)$ and $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$, the joint system for $G(k,n)$ is gauge equivalent to a differential-difference system on the $k$-th exterior power of the cohomology of $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$. Secondly, we demonstrate that the \textcyr{B}-theorem for Grassmannians, as stated in arXiv:1909.06582, arXiv:2203.03039, is compatible with the Satake identification. This implies that the \textcyr{B}-theorem for $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ extends to $G(k,n)$ through the Satake identification. As a consequence, we derive determinantal formulas and new integral representations for multi-dimensional hypergeometric solutions of the joint qDE and qKZ system for $G(k,n)$. Finally, we analyze the Stokes phenomenon for the joint system of qDE and qKZ equations associated with $G(k,n)$. We prove that the Stokes bases of solutions correspond to explicit $K$-theoretical classes of full exceptional collections in the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on $G(k,n)$. Furthermore, we show that the Stokes matrices equal the Gram matrices of the equivariant Euler-Poincar\'e-Grothendieck pairing with respect to these exceptional $K$-theoretical bases., Comment: 81 pages

Abstract: We present a complete analysis of Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) data of GRB 221009A, the brightest Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) ever detected. The burst emission above 30 MeV detected by the LAT preceded by 1 s the low-energy (< 10 MeV) pulse that triggered the Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM), as has been observed in other GRBs. The prompt phase of GRB 221009A lasted a few hundred seconds. It was so bright that we identify a Bad Time Interval (BTI) of 64 seconds caused by the extremely high flux of hard X-rays and soft gamma rays, during which the event reconstruction efficiency was poor and the dead time fraction quite high. The late-time emission decayed as a power law, but the extrapolation of the late-time emission during the first 450 seconds suggests that the afterglow started during the prompt emission. We also found that high-energy events observed by the LAT are incompatible with synchrotron origin, and, during the prompt emission, are more likely related to an extra component identified as synchrotron self-Compton (SSC). A remarkable 400 GeV photon, detected by the LAT 33 ks after the GBM trigger and directionally consistent with the location of GRB 221009A, is hard to explain as a product of SSC or TeV electromagnetic cascades, and the process responsible for its origin is uncertain. Abstract: The $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ charmonium states, composed of $c\bar{c}$ quark pairs and known since the 1970s, are widely believed to serve as ideal probes to test quantum chromodynamics in high-energy hadronic interactions. However, there is not yet a complete understanding of the charmonium-production mechanism. Recent measurements of $J/\psi$ production as a function of event charged-particle multiplicity at the collision energies of both the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show enhanced $J/\psi$ production yields with increasing multiplicity. One potential explanation for this type of dependence is multiparton interactions (MPI). We carry out the first measurements of self-normalized $J/\psi$ yields and the $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio at both forward and backward rapidities as a function of self-normalized charged-particle multiplicity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. In addition, detailed {\sc pythia} studies tuned to RHIC energies were performed to investigate the MPI impacts. We find that the PHENIX data at RHIC are consistent with recent LHC measurements and can only be described by {\sc pythia} calculations that include MPI effects. The forward and backward $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio, which serves as a unique and powerful approach to study final-state effects on charmonium production, is found to be less dependent on the charged-particle multiplicity., Comment: 301 authors from 69 institutions, 8 pages, 3 figures. v1 is version submitted to Physical Review D Letters. 42. Language Understanding as a Constraint on Consensus Size in LLM Societies

Abstract: The applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) are going towards collaborative tasks where several agents interact with each other like in an LLM society. In such a setting, large groups of LLMs could reach consensus about arbitrary norms for which there is no information supporting one option over another, regulating their own behavior in a self-organized way. In human societies, the ability to reach consensus without institutions has a limit in the cognitive capacities of humans. To understand if a similar phenomenon characterizes also LLMs, we apply methods from complexity science and principles from behavioral sciences in a new approach of AI anthropology. We find that LLMs are able to reach consensus in groups and that the opinion dynamics of LLMs can be understood with a function parametrized by a majority force coefficient that determines whether consensus is possible. This majority force is stronger for models with higher language understanding capabilities and decreases for larger groups, leading to a critical group size beyond which, for a given LLM, consensus is unfeasible. This critical group size grows exponentially with the language understanding capabilities of models and for the most advanced models, it can reach an order of magnitude beyond the typical size of informal human groups.

43. A Topic-wise Exploration of the Telegram Group-verse

Abstract: Although currently one of the most popular instant messaging apps worldwide, Telegram has been largely understudied in the past years. In this paper, we aim to address this gap by presenting an analysis of publicly accessible groups covering discussions encompassing different topics, as diverse as Education, Erotic, Politics, and Cryptocurrencies. We engineer and offer an open-source tool to automate the collection of messages from Telegram groups, a non-straightforward problem. We use it to collect more than 50 million messages from 669 groups. Here, we present a first-of-its-kind, per-topic analysis, contrasting the characteristics of the messages sent on the platform from different angles -- the language, the presence of bots, the type and volume of shared media content. Our results confirm some anecdotal evidence, e.g., clues that Telegram is used to share possibly illicit content, and unveil some unexpected findings, e.g., the different sharing patterns of video and stickers in groups of different topics. While preliminary, we hope that our work paves the road for several avenues of future research on the understudied Telegram platform.

44. Quantum Algorithms for One-Sided Crossing Minimization

Abstract: We present singly-exponential quantum algorithms for the One-Sided Crossing Minimization (OSCM) problem. Given an $n$-vertex bipartite graph $G=(U,V,E\subseteq U \times V)$, a $2$-level drawing $(\pi_U,\pi_V)$ of $G$ is described by a linear ordering $\pi_U: U \leftrightarrow \{1,\dots,|U|\}$ of $U$ and linear ordering $\pi_V: V \leftrightarrow \{1,\dots,|V|\}$ of $V$. For a fixed linear ordering $\pi_U$ of $U$, the OSCM problem seeks to find a linear ordering $\pi_V$ of $V$ that yields a $2$-level drawing $(\pi_U,\pi_V)$ of $G$ with the minimum number of edge crossings. We show that OSCM can be viewed as a set problem over $V$ amenable for exact algorithms with a quantum speedup with respect to their classical counterparts. First, we exploit the quantum dynamic programming framework of Ambainis et al. [Quantum Speedups for Exponential-Time Dynamic Programming Algorithms. SODA 2019] to devise a QRAM-based algorithm that solves OSCM in $O^*(1.728^n)$ time and space. 45. Weakly Leveled Planarity with Bounded Span

Abstract: This paper studies planar drawings of graphs in which each vertex is represented as a point along a sequence of horizontal lines, called levels, and each edge is either a horizontal segment or a strictly $y$-monotone curve. A graph is $s$-span weakly leveled planar if it admits such a drawing where the edges have span at most $s$; the span of an edge is the number of levels it touches minus one. We investigate the problem of computing $s$-span weakly leveled planar drawings from both the computational and the combinatorial perspectives. We prove the problem to be para-NP-hard with respect to its natural parameter $s$ and investigate its complexity with respect to widely used structural parameters. We show the existence of a polynomial-size kernel with respect to vertex cover number and prove that the problem is FPT when parameterized by treedepth. We also present upper and lower bounds on the span for various graph classes. Notably, we show that cycle trees, a family of $2$-outerplanar graphs generalizing Halin graphs, are $\Theta(\log n)$-span weakly leveled planar and $4$-span weakly leveled planar when $3$-connected. Abstract: Not every directed acyclic graph (DAG) whose underlying undirected graph is planar admits an upward planar drawing. We are interested in pushing the notion of upward drawings beyond planarity by considering upward $k$-planar drawings of DAGs in which the edges are monotonically increasing in a common direction and every edge is crossed at most $k$ times for some integer $k \ge 1$. We show that the number of crossings per edge in a monotone drawing is in general unbounded for the class of bipartite outerplanar, cubic, or bounded pathwidth DAGs. However, it is at most two for outerpaths and it is at most quadratic in the bandwidth in general. From the computational point of view, we prove that upward-$k$-planarity testing is NP-complete already for $k =1$ and even for restricted instances for which upward planarity testing is polynomial. On the positive side, we can decide in linear time whether a single-source DAG admits an upward $1$-planar drawing in which all vertices are incident to the outer face., Comment: This is the extended version, with full appendix, of a paper to appear in the Proc. 32nd Int. 47. Financial toxicity in breast cancer patients receiving regional nodal irradiation: Variation by cancer subtype.

Abstract: BACKGROUND: We evaluated sociodemographic and clinical predictors of financial toxicity (FT) among patients with breast cancer with higher risk clinical factors warranting regional nodal irradiation (RNI). METHODS: Among 183 participants in a clinical trial of conventional vs. hypofractionated treatment with RNI, 125 (68 %) completed a pilot survey of FT measured using the validated Economic Strain and Resilience in Cancer (ENRICh) instrument, scored from 0 (minimal) to 10 (severe) FT. Associations with predictors were evaluated using Pearson correlation coefficients and Kruskal Wallis, Mann-Whitney U, and Jonckheere-Terpstra tests. Predictors of severe FT (ENRICh≥5) were tested using multivariable logistic regression with odds ratios converted to relative risks (RR). RESULTS: Of the sample, all received RNI, 92 % chemotherapy, 67 % axillary dissection, 26 % mastectomy without reconstruction, and 32 % mastectomy with reconstruction. At a median follow up of 1.48 years, median FT score was 2.13 (IQR 0.93-4.6), with 20.8 % of patients experiencing severe FT. Unadjusted worse FT score was associated with younger age (P = 0.003), Hispanic ethnicity (P = 0.006), lower income (P = 0.02), shorter interval from diagnosis to FT assessment (P = 0.02), and chemotherapy receipt (P = 0.05), but not with breast surgery type (P = 0.42), axillary surgery type (P = 0.33), or pathologic T (P = 0.68) or N stage (P = 0.47). In multivariable analysis, triple negative subtype was the sole clinical factor predicting severe FT (RR = 3.38; 95 % CI 1.48-4.99; P = 0.01). CONCLUSION: Among patients with breast cancer receiving RNI, triple negative subtype was associated with severe FT, suggesting that tumor receptor subtype may help identify a key breast cancer subpopulation for early FT intervention.

48. Upward Pointset Embeddings of Planar st-Graphs

Abstract: We study upward pointset embeddings (UPSEs) of planar $st$-graphs. Let $G$ be a planar $st$-graph and let $S \subset \mathbb{R}^2$ be a pointset with $|S|= |V(G)|$. An UPSE of $G$ on $S$ is an upward planar straight-line drawing of $G$ that maps the vertices of $G$ to the points of $S$. We consider both the problem of testing the existence of an UPSE of $G$ on $S$ (UPSE Testing) and the problem of enumerating all UPSEs of $G$ on $S$. We prove that UPSE Testing is NP-complete even for $st$-graphs that consist of a set of directed $st$-paths sharing only $s$ and $t$. On the other hand, for $n$-vertex planar $st$-graphs whose maximum $st$-cutset has size $k$, we prove that it is possible to solve UPSE Testing in $O(n^{4k})$ time with $O(n^{3k})$ space, and to enumerate all UPSEs of $G$ on $S$ with $O(n)$ worst-case delay, using $O(k n^{4k} \log n)$ space, after $O(k n^{4k} \log n)$ set-up time. Moreover, for an $n$-vertex $st$-graph whose underlying graph is a cycle, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an UPSE on a given poinset, which can be tested in $O(n \log n)$ time. Related to this result, we give an algorithm that, for a set $S$ of $n$ points, enumerates all the non-crossing monotone Hamiltonian cycles on $S$ with $O(n)$ worst-case delay, using $O(n^2)$ space, after $O(n^2)$ set-up time., Comment: This is the long version of a paper to appear at the 32nd International Symposium on Graph Drawing and Network Visualization (GD '24)

49. HEP Benchmark Suite: Enhancing Efficiency and Sustainability in Worldwide LHC Computing Infrastructures

Abstract: As the scientific community continues to push the boundaries of computing capabilities, there is a growing responsibility to address the associated energy consumption and carbon footprint. This responsibility extends to the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG), encompassing over 170 sites in 40 countries, supporting vital computing, disk, tape storage and network for LHC experiments. Ensuring efficient operational practices across these diverse sites is crucial beyond mere performance metrics. This paper introduces the HEP Benchmark suite, an enhanced suite designed to measure computing resource performance uniformly across all WLCG sites, using HEPScore23 as performance unit. The suite expands beyond assessing only the execution speed via HEPScore23. In fact the suite incorporates metrics such as machine load, memory usage, memory swap, and notably, power consumption. Its adaptability and user-friendly interface enable comprehensive acquisition of system-related data alongside benchmarking. Throughout 2023, this tool underwent rigorous testing across numerous WLCG sites. The focus was on studying compute job slot performance and correlating these with fabric metrics. Initial analysis unveiled the tool's efficacy in establishing a standardized model for compute resource utilization while pinpointing anomalies, often stemming from site misconfigurations. This paper aims to elucidate the tool's functionality and present the results obtained from extensive testing. 50. Phase diagram of a generalized Stephanov model for finite-density QCD

Abstract: We solve a random matrix model for QCD at finite chemical potential, obtained by generalizing the Stephanov model by modifying the random-matrix integration measure with a one-parameter trace deformation. This allows one to check how important the integration measure is for the qualitative features of random matrix models, as well as to test the robustness and universality of the qualitative picture of the original model. While for a small trace deformation the phase diagram is identical to that of the Stephanov model, for a large deformation an exotic phase with spontaneous charge-conjugation breaking appears., Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures
