Abstract: Natural events that have recently occurred in France (forest fires, flash floods) remind how necessary it is to be able to alert the population in appropriate time and with explicit messages, specifying the nature of the danger in progress and what should be done about it. Deployed in June 2022, the so-called FR-Alert platform will allow the broadcasting of an alert by notification (via cellular broadcasting and via geo-located SMS in 2023), on the phones of people located in real time in the danger zone. However, how do we plan a comprehensible notification, understandable by most people, to keep everyone out of danger in the current situation? This article proposes to answer these ambitious questions, by analyzing the perception of messages tested with a varied public (163 participants), in situation during simulated alerts, and by comparing the results obtained in the different contexts (students and teachers in a university, crisis managers and workers in an industrial-port context), to test if there are standardized or random individual reactions. Even if these early findings need to be confirmed using larger samples, they show the importance of structuring the content of the notification. More interestingly, contextual and social effects emerge, and the latter shall be considered in FR-Alert, if authorities want to send a well-understood message for "most of the people" in the danger area.

Abstract: PurposeTo compare clinical characteristics at presentation and outcomes of Coats disease between females and males.MethodsIn this retrospective, consecutive case series we included all children diagnosed with Coats disease in a single tertiary referral center. Initial clinical presentation, treatment and outcomes were collected.ResultsA total of 158 children were included, of whom 29 (18.3%) were females and 11 (6.9%) had bilateral involvement. Age at diagnosis and disease stage were similar between females and males. Females had more bilateral involvement (p < 0.001) and tended to have a worse visual acuity at diagnosis (p = 0.05). At last follow-up, visual acuity and anatomical outcome after treatment were similar between genders.ConclusionFemale patients with Coats disease had more bilateral involvement and tended to have worse visual acuity at presentation. Clinical presentation and outcomes seemed to be similar between genders.

Abstract: The Port-Cros National Park (PCNP), established in 1963, was one of the earliest terrestrial and marine parks in the Mediterranean Sea. From 2012, it engaged in a major redefinition and extension of its territory (N-PCNP—New Port-Cros National Park). This case is particularly interesting insofar as the protected area has been competently and efficiently managed since its creation, and protection and management measures have been strictly implemented: in the Mediterranean, the PCNP has often been considered as a benchmark. Here, we critically analyse almost 60 years of the management of the biodiversity and the human uses, with their share of successes and failures, certain operations which are today regarded as errors, and a doctrine today of a priori non-interventionism, in contrast to the doctrine in vogue in the early years. Of particular interest is the change in outlook with regard to actions favouring flagship species, such as building a tower for bats, setting up artificial nests for seabirds, and constructing an artificial reef at sea. The question of the natural arrival of the wild boar, a native species, and the hostility of the public and some species-centred scientists, is particularly instructive. We analyse these changes in the light of the ongoing trends in concepts in ecology and nature conservation, and the shift from a species-centred to an ecosystem-centred approach. It is worth emphasizing that a critical review of almost 60 years of management is a very rare exercise in a national park anywhere in the world.

Abstract: An aspergilloma is a well-recognized lesion of the lung caused most of the time by the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Its main complication is hemoptysis and has been very rarely associated with tension pneumothorax. We present the case of a 47-year-old man with a history of treated and healed tuberculosis, which was successfully managed in our service for a ruptured right upper lobe complexed aspergilloma, complicated by a massive and tension pneumothorax. The patient underwent thoracotomy and lung resection with quick recovery. Conclusively, although rare, an aspergilloma may rupture and cause a life-threatening air leakage.

Abstract: Information given on flash floods in real time should undoubtedly correspond to the citizens needs as well as to the politics and the safety guidelines. To supply this objective, Numerical Social Networks (NSN) and smartphone applications could positively complete the official institutional system, especially by means of the dynamic nature of shared contents, and with the social interactions they support. Nonetheless, even if several countries (United States or Philippines for example) already use these systems to warn the population in case of future floods, and even if the French government launched a specific app the 2016 June 8th (namely SAIP), the French citizens and stakeholders do not always use them during the alert process. This is generally explained by the French protection system on individual data, the lack of validation over information shared by citizens in real time and by the technical locks the official services have to remove. Then this paper aims to address the benefits and limits from the use of NSN and smartphones during flood warnings in France, to discuss their place in relation to existing mechanisms and to identify research avenues that could be explored by scientists, going beyond a simple contextual opportunity.

Abstract: A passive bistatic ground-based synthetic aperture radar (PB-GB-SAR) system without a dedicated transmitter has been developed by using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware for local-area high-resolution imaging and displacement measurement purposes. Different from the frequency-modulated or frequency-stepped continuous wave signal commonly used by GB-SAR, the continuous digital TV signal broadcast by a geostationary satellite has been adopted by PB-GB-SAR. In order to increase the coherence between the reference and surveillance channels, frequency and phase synchronization of multiple low noise blocks (LNBs) has been conducted. Then, the back-projection algorithm (BPA) and the range migration algorithm (RMA) have been modified for PB-GB-SAR to get the focused SAR image. Field experiments have been carried out to validate the designed PB-GB-SAR system and the proposed methods. It has been found that different targets within 100 m (like the fence, light pole, tree, and car) can be imaged by the PB-GB-SAR system. With a metallic plate moved on a positioner, it has been observed that the displacement of the target can be estimated by PB-GB-SAR with submillimeter accuracy.

Abstract: The results presented in this text rise from participative research-actions carried out with three communities of the acadian littoral of New Brunswick on the East coast of Canada, between 2005 to 2009. The objective of this work was to coordinate the step of citizens, elected officials and agencies (governmental and installation) and in the decision-making surrounding the adoption of durable practices as regards adaptation vis-a-vis the problems of erosion and floods in the context of the climatic changes. More precisely, the authors accompanied using approach integrated the various actors and makers decision on a local, provincial and federal scale, while assuring a bond between the scientific knowledge and the vernacular knowledge. They are the communities of Pointe-du-Chêne, located in south-east of New Brunswick and in edge of the strait of Northumberland, of Le Goulet, located in the North-East of New Brunswick and on the coasts of the gulf of the St. Lawrence and finally, of Bayshore in the city of Bathurst, located in Baie des Chaleurs. The step developed by the researchers is organized in three times: 1) using semi-directed interviews we collected the data concerning the social representations of the inhabitants of the coastal zone about climate change, of the impacts and the adaptation ; 2) doing awareness of the actors via meetings of information and discussion with different stakeholders in the communities, to “coconstruct” the object of research and finally ;3) coordination of focus groups for the phase engagement of the communities which led “to coproduct” an action plan for the adaptation taking account of the diversity of the characteristics of the communities and the territories.

These two complexes, known as Tannery Court Co-operative Ltd., target a specific segment of the affordable housing market: non-elderly singles. A mixed-methods approach was used to assess the quality of life of residents. The data collection strategy used semi-structured interviews conducted with the help of a questionnaire. A total of 43 interviews were completed at the two building sites. Analysis of interview and questionnaire data identified six areas of improvement in residents' quality of life. These are life in general (an overarching dimension), housing (the focus of the Tannery Court intervention), neighbourhood (including safety and appearance), food, self-confidence (an enabling dimension for future development of projects and goals among the residents), and financial situation (a key dimension because of its multiple impacts on other aspects of life). / L'objectif de cette recherche était d'évaluer l'impact des deux complexes de logements coopératifs Tannery Court sur la qualité de vie des résidants. Ces complexes ciblent un segment particulier du marché du logement social, les célibataires d'âge actif et vivant en deçà du seuil de la pauvreté. Cette étude utilise une méthodologie mixte pour évaluer la situation et la qualité de vie des résidants. La stratégie de cueillette de données s'appuie sur des entrevues semi-dirigées effectuées à l'aide d'un questionnaire. Au total, nous avons complété 43 entrevues. Six aspects de la qualité de vie se sont améliorés de façon significative. Abstract: Mass-sensitive electro-acoustic devices such as surface acoustic wave (SAW)micro-balances, capable to operate with aqueous media are particularly favorable for thedevelopment of biosensors. Their dimensions and physical properties offer a large potentialin biological fluid investigations, especially for measuring physical phenomenon (massdeposition, adsorption, pressure...). In this work, we propose a specific gratingconfiguration to lower the influence of viscosity of fluids which reduces the signal dynamicsof the surface wave transducers. A dedicated liquid cell also has been developed to isolatethe electro-active part of the device. The fabrication of the cell is achieved using theSU-8TMphoto-resist, allowing for manufacturing thick structures preventing any contact between thetested liquids and the transducers. Furthermore, the sensing area has been optimized tooptimize the sensor gravimetric sensitivity. The operation of the sensor is illustrated bydetecting bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption in the sensing area.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Grapevine is a well-studied, economically relevant crop, whose associated bacteria could influence its organoleptic properties. In this study, the spatial and temporal dynamics of the bacterial communities associated with grapevine organs (leaves, flowers, grapes, and roots) and soils were characterized over two growing seasons to determine the influence of vine cultivar, edaphic parameters, vine developmental stage (dormancy, flowering, preharvest), and vineyard. Belowground bacterial communities differed significantly from those aboveground, and yet the communities associated with leaves, flowers, and grapes shared a greater proportion of taxa with soil communities than with each other, suggesting that soil may serve as a bacterial reservoir. A subset of soil microorganisms, including root colonizers significantly enriched in plant growth-promoting bacteria and related functional genes, were selected by the grapevine. In addition to plant selective pressure, the structure of soil and root microbiota was significantly influenced by soil pH and C:N ratio, and changes in leaf- and grape-associated microbiota were correlated with soil carbon and showed interannual variation even at small spatial scales. Diazotrophic bacteria, e.g., Rhizobiaceae and Bradyrhizobium spp., were significantly more abundant in soil samples and root samples of specific vineyards. Vine-associated microbial assemblages were influenced by myriad factors that shape their composition and structure, but the majority of organ-associated taxa originated in the soil, and their distribution reflected the influence of highly localized biogeographic factors and vineyard management. IMPORTANCE Vine-associated bacterial communities may play specific roles in the productivity and disease resistance of their host plant. Also, the bacterial communities on grapes have the potential to influence the organoleptic properties of the wine, contributing to a regional terroir. Understanding that factors that influence these bacteria may provide insights into management practices to shape and craft individual wine properties. We show that soil serves as a key source of vine-associated bacteria and that edaphic factors and vineyard-specific properties can influence the native grapevine microbiome preharvest.

Abstract: Le Goulet and Pointe-du-Chêne are two New Brunswick coastal communities facing serious flooding and coastal erosion problems. These two communities are different on cultural, economical and social point of view. Since 2003, researchers from Université de Moncton have been engaged in a participatory action research with representative local people of different coastal communities. Also they have invited the decision makers and civil servant of the province of New Brunswick and Environment Canada to involve the communities in a decision making process focussing on adaptation and proactive measures to these major problems. The community engagement process involves an inventory of local perceptions, knowledge, adaptation measures already tried, preoccupations, awareness, information building and decision making through focus group techniques. Semi-directed interviews were held prior to and at the end of the data gathering process. Results show participants used some adaptation techniques although they lack resources and direction. The engagement process resulted in an important change in adaptation approaches envisioned for the future in the village of Le Goulet and brought forward some new solutions in the two communities. Participants viewed the process as leading to more sustainable solutions for their communities or as a means to provide more credibility to proposed solutions before seeking government resources. To encourage a broader participation, researchers need to better identify objectives and possible outcomes from the start of the process to have a better participatory action research.

Abstract: International audience; The Port-Cros National Park (PCNP), established in 1963, was one of the earliest terrestrial and marine parks in the Mediterranean Sea. From 2012, it engaged in a major redefinition and extension of its territory (N-PCNP—New Port-Cros National Park). This case is particularly interesting insofar as the protected area has been competently and efficiently managed since its creation, and protection and management measures have been strictly implemented: in the Mediterranean, the PCNP has often been considered as a benchmark. Here, we critically analyse almost 60 years of the management of the biodiversity and the human uses, with their share of successes and failures, certain operations which are today regarded as errors, and a doctrine today of a priori non-interventionism, in contrast to the doctrine in vogue in the early years. Of particular interest is the change in outlook with regard to actions favouring flagship species, such as building a tower for bats, setting up artificial nests for seabirds, and constructing an artificial reef at sea. The question of the natural arrival of the wild boar, a native species, and the hostility of the public and some species-centred scientists, is particularly instructive. We analyse these changes in the light of the ongoing trends in concepts in ecology and nature conservation, and the shift from a species-centred to an ecosystem-centred approach. It is worth emphasizing that a critical review of almost 60 years of management is a very rare exercise in a national park anywhere in the world.

24. EPHA2 biallelic disruption causes syndromic complex microphthalmia with iris hypoplasia

Abstract: Disruption of any of the ocular development steps can result in ocular defects such as microphthalmia, coloboma and anterior segment dysgeneses including aniridia and cataract. All of these anomalies can be isolated or seen in association with each other. Except for aniridia (almost exclusively due to PAX6 mutations), most of these congenital ocular malformations are related to a wide genetic heterogeneity, as hundreds of genes are implied in ocular development. Here we describe a patient presenting with bilateral microphthalmia, congenital cataract, corneal dystrophy and iris hypoplasia, associated with extra-ocular features, who underwent an analysis of 119 ocular development related genes. Genetic testing revealed the presence of two truncating variants in the EPHA2 gene. While EPHA2 mutations are mainly known to be responsible for isolated dominant congenital cataract, we report here the first case of complex anterior segment dysgenesis caused by a biallelic EPHA2 mutation. This gene should be screened in case of aniridia with a negative PAX6 testing, as the ocular features of our patient clearly mimic those of PAX6 mutated patients. This observation enlarges the phenotype associated with EPHA2 variations and rise the insight of a possible PAX6-EPHA2 interaction that needs further investigations. Moreover, despite a great variability in ocular and extra-ocular phenotypes, mutations type and inheritance pattern, a possible genotype-phenotype correlation can also be drawn for this gene.

Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients. Methods: International 1-day point-prevalence study; follow-up for outcome assessment until hospital discharge (maximum 12 weeks). Factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injury and hospital mortality were assessed by generalised linear mixed-effects regression analysis. Results: Data from 13,254 patients in 1117 ICUs (90 countries) revealed 6747 pressure injuries; 3997 (59.2%) were ICU-acquired. Overall prevalence was 26.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 25.9–27.3). ICU-acquired prevalence was 16.2% (95% CI 15.6–16.8). Sacrum (37%) and heels (19.5%) were most affected. Factors independently associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries were older age, male sex, being underweight, emergency surgery, higher Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Braden score < 19, ICU stay > 3 days, comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency), organ support (renal replacement, mechanical ventilation on ICU admission), and being in a low or lower-middle income-economy. Gradually increasing associations with mortality were identified for increasing severity of pressure injury: stage I (odds ratio [OR] 1.5; 95% CI 1.2–1.8), stage II (OR 1.6; 95% CI 1.4–1.9), and stage III or worse (OR 2.8; 95% CI 2.3–3.3). Conclusion: Pressure injuries are common in adult ICU patients. ICU-acquired pressure injuries are associated with mainly intrinsic factors and mortality. Optimal care standards, increased awareness, appropriate resource allocation, and further research into optimal prevention are pivotal to tackle this important patient safety threat.

27. Clinical, Meibographic, and Interferometric Evaluation in Children With Ocular Rosacea

Abstract: To describe clinical, meibographic, and interferometric signs in children with ocular rosacea.Prospective case-control study.This single-center study at the Fondation Ophtalmologique Rothschild (Paris, France) included 42 children with ocular rosacea and 44 healthy volunteers (median ages of 10 and 11 years old, respectively) who had infrared meibography images of their lower lids and tear lipid layer thickness measurements taken with the LipiView II device (Tearscience). Clinical severity was graded on a 0 to 4 scale and compared with meiboscores (range 0-4) and tear film lipid layer thickness (range 0-100 nm).Seven patients presented with unilateral disease and 29 had an asymmetrical form. Twenty-four patients had associated cutaneous rosacea. Ten of 84 eyes presented with a loss of vision20/25. The mean clinical severity grade was 2.5 ± 1.4. Meibographic abnormalities were significantly more important in children with ocular rosacea (mean meiboscore 2.1 ± 1.36) than in healthy volunteers (0.61 ± 0.78, P.001). Clinical severity (r = 0.44, P.001), duration of disease (r = 0.28, P = .011), and a history of chalazia (r = 0.30, P = .006) were correlated to meibographic severity. Mean lipid layer thickness was not significantly different between cases and controls (74.4 ± 18.7 nm and 76.6 ± 18 nm, respectively, P = .47).Meibomian structural alterations in children can be severe and are correlated to ocular rosacea severity. Meibography is an essential tool for diagnosis and follow-up, whereas the contribution of tear film interferometry is uncertain.

Abstract: Yttrium Iron Garnet based ferrites are used in non-reciprocal devices like microwave circulators and isolators. The low dielectric and magnetic losses of those materials provide the required properties. The main drawbacks of circulators are their size and cost, due to complex mechanical assembling of the different materials. In order to simplify this complex manufacturing process, a possible solution would be to adapt the different materials to a common LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) process: the circulators would be produced with an additive multilayer process. We showed that cationic substitutions (bismuth and copper) enable a considerable decrease of the sintering temperature of garnets, from about 1450°C to down to 950°C. Due to bismuth cations, a high permittivity is achieved allowing the reduction of the circulator size. Our most recent results show that it is possible to decrease this temperature down to 880°C, thanks to vanadium substitutions. This significant decrease of the sintering temperature leads to a compatible material for co-firing with gold and in particular with silver (melting point of 1064°C and 962°C respectively). Different assemblies of tapes were studied: ferrite with silver or gold, ferrite with dielectric and ferrite with dielectric and metallization. Physical analyses are exposed (dilatometry, coefficient of thermal expansion…) and magnetic and dielectric properties are discussed (permittivity and saturation magnetization). Moreover the first results of circulators in LTCC-technology with gold and silver screen printing are presented (transmission, isolation and return loss) and the compatibility of the different elements is analyzed.

Abstract: International audience; A passive bistatic ground-based synthetic aperture radar (PB-GB-SAR) system without a dedicated transmitter has been developed by using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware for local-area high-resolution imaging and displacement measurement purposes. Different from the frequency-modulated or frequency-stepped continuous wave signal commonly used by GB-SAR, the continuous digital TV signal broadcast by a geostationary satellite has been adopted by PB-GB-SAR. In order to increase the coherence between the reference and surveillance channels, frequency and phase synchronization of multiple low noise blocks (LNBs) has been conducted. Then, the back-projection algorithm (BPA) and the range migration algorithm (RMA) have been modified for PB-GB-SAR to get the focused SAR image. Field experiments have been carried out to validate the designed PB-GB-SAR system and the proposed methods. It has been found that different targets within 100 m (like the fence, light pole, tree, and car) can be imaged by the PB-GB-SAR system. With a metallic plate moved on a positioner, it has been observed that the displacement of the target can be estimated by PB-GB-SAR with submillimeter accuracy.

Abstract: International audience; We demonstrate passive RADAR interrogation of passive sensors: the non-cooperative signal source is analyzed to detect time-delayed copies of the reference signal generated by the cooperative target. The acoustic sensor is designed to introduce a delay dependent on a physical quantity under investigation, so that analyzing the echoes generated by the cooperative target allows for recovering the measured quantity. We demonstrate the passive RADAR principle for probing SAW cooperative targets acting as sensors using a WiFi emitter. Furthermore in the context of aeronautical deployment, we demonstrate the interrogation of a sensor operating in the 4.2–4.4 GHz WAIC (Wireless Avionics Intra-Communication) frequency band using a noise RADAR following principles similar to those implemented in a passive RADAR approach.

Le commissaire Albert Dumont n'apprécie pas ce choix, il trouve Joss trop marginal : « Vous avez vu sa dégaine!... Pour infiltrer les quartiers chauds de Marseille c'était certainement parfait, mais pour aller enquêter dans la bourgeoisie tourangelle c'est complètement déplacé!... En plus c'est un solitaire! » La capitaine, qui connaît les valeurs de Joss, parvient à l'imposer au boss. Abstract: In this paper, we propose the application of polycrystalline lanthanum- and cobalt-substituted strontium hexaferrites in the realization of self-biased circulators. These materials present a high anisotropy field, dependent on the substitution rate, which makes it possible to reach operating frequencies in the millimeter-wave range. A first demonstrator was successfully designed and realized using a 20% rate of substitution $(\hbox {Sr}_{0.8}\hbox {La}_{0.2}\hbox {Fe}_{11.8}\hbox {Co}_{0.2}\hbox {O}_{19})$ . This circulator showed insertion losses of 1.79 dB and an isolation level of 28.1 dB at 41.4 GHz without magnets. Performances can be significantly improved by applying a low magnetic field $(\hbox {H}_{\rm app}=2100\ \hbox {Oe})$ . According to the literature, increasing the substitution rate makes it possible to increase the anisotropy field, and thus, the internal field. Consequently, a 30% substituted strontium hexaferrite was tested. It appears that the anisotropy field was not higher in this case. However, magnetic losses are much lower and enabled us to halve insertion losses of the self-biased circulator (0.87 dB at 41 GHz).

Abstract: In this paper we investigate the displacement of microparticles deposited on the acoustic path of a surface acoustic wave delay line. The diameter of the targeted particles is between 0.3 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ and 10 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ . The device used is based on Rayleigh waves and builds on 128°YX-LiNbO 3 piezoelectric substrate. The displacement is achieved by applying a radiofrequency signal with a high power level superior to 30 dBm at approximately 100 MHz. Particles originates from the fume of a burning candle with diameter smaller than 2.5 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ , and particles of silicon carbide in the vicinity of 17 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ and 5 $\mu \mathrm{m}$ are tested.

The patient underwent thoracotomy and lung resection with quick recovery. Conclusively, although rare, an aspergilloma may rupture and cause a life-threatening air leakage.

Abstract: Numerous developments have been dedicated these passed years to demonstrate the use of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices as passive sensors probed through a wireless radio-frequency link. Giving access to physical parameter variations without embedded power supply, recent works have shown that SAW sensors can be used under harsh environments such as temperatures in excess of 300 °C and much more. The purpose of this paper is to present a new packaging process for SAW sensors operating under temperature environments up to 600 °C. The robustness of this packaging process is first validated at the above-mentioned temperature using a classical temperature probe via wired connection. The reliability of this process applied to differential SAW sensors then is demonstrated by wireless interrogation of a quartz-based SAW differential sensor from room temperature to 480 °C. The sensor operation has been validated for several tens of hours without major failure nor significant deviation, although the measurement distance dynamic range is observed to be dramatically reduced with operating on such a wide temperature range.

Abstract: International audience; Passive wireless transducers are used as sensors, probed by a RADAR system. A simple way to separate the returning signal from the clutter is to delay the response, so that the clutter decays before the echoes are received. This can be achieved by introducing a fixed delay in the sensor design.Acoustic wave transducers are ideally suited as cooperative targets for passive, wireless sensing. The incoming electromagnetic pulse is converted into an acoustic wave, propagated on the sensor substrate surface, and reflected as an electromagnetic echo. According to a known law, the acoustic wave propagation velocity depends on the physical quantity under investigation, which is thenmeasured as an echo delay. Both conversions between electromagnetic and acoustic waves are based on the piezoelectric property of the substrate of which the sensor is made. Investigating underground sensing, we address the problems of using GPR (Ground-Penetrating RADAR) for probing cooperative targets. The GPR is a good candidate for this application because it provides anelectromagnetic source and receiver, as well as echo recording tools. Instead of designing dedicated electronics, we choose a commercially available, reliable and rugged instrument. The measurement range depends on parameters like antenna radiation pattern, radio spectrum matching between GPR and the target, antenna-sensor impedance matching and the transfer function of the target. We demonstrate measurements at depths ranging from centimeters to circa 1 m in a sandbox. In our application, clutter rejection requires delays between the emitted pulse and echoes to be longer than in the regular use of the GPR for geophysical measurements. This delay, and the accuracy needed for sensing, challenge the GPR internal time base. In the GPR units we used, the drift turns out to be incompatible with the targeted application. The available documentation of other models and brands suggests that this is a rather general limitation. We solved the problem by replacing the analog ramp generator defining the time base with a fully digital solution, whose time accuracy and stability relies on a quartz oscillator. The resulting stability is acceptable for sub-surface cooperative sensor measurement.

Abstract: International audience; In this paper, a passive measurement system is used to explore the phase noise of high overtone bulk acoustic wave resonators. The chosen overtone is around 373 MHz and the temperature coefficient of frequency at room temperature is 4 ppm/K. The 1/f noise is clearly shown and a flicker floor of about σy_floor = 1.5×10-11 is demonstrated.

Abstract: A study of a very low-loss mm-wave self-biased circulator as a function of temperature is proposed. This device presents, at room temperature and without magnets, maximum insertion losses of 0.52 dB in a 4.1-GHz bandwidth centered at 39 GHz. The evolution of the performances between 22 and 115°C is presented and discussed in view of the modifications of the static magnetic properties of the ferrite in this temperature range.

Abstract: International audience; The project aims to develop a 4.596 GHz MEMS HBAR-based microwave voltage controlled oscillator devoted to be used as a local oscillator in a Cs vapor microcell-based CPT atomic clock. These miniature high-spectral purity oscillators are interesting candidates to replace conventional local oscillator architectures using a 4.6 GHz VCO phase-locked to a 10 MHz quartz oscillator (TCXO) through a fractional N-PLLsystem. Today, about a half of the total power consumption of miniature atomic clocks is dedicated to the local oscillator module. The development of MEMS HBAR oscillators stands as an exciting opportunity to reduce drastically the power consumption of miniature atomic clocks, with additional improvement of absolute phase noise performances. These aspects could help miniature CPT-based atomic clocks to be of great interest in mobile and embedded systems where spectral purity of the local clock is crucial, such as radar defense systems.
