During the spring of 2022 several endangered leuciscid species (Anaecypris hispanica, Squalius aradensis, Anachondrostoma. occidentale and Iberochondrostoma lusitanicum) were sampled both at the Vasco da Gama aquarium facilities and in some rivers of the Algarve region, Portugal. Sperm samples were extracted by gentle abdominal pressure and sperm motion parameters were assessed for the first time in four species, using a computerised analysis system. The results obtained showed that spermatozoa kinetic patterns were similar for all 4 species, with high motility and velocity values after the sperm activation time and with a marked decrease after 20 seconds. On the other hand, sperm longevity was highly variable between species, with short longevities (around 40 s) for A. hispanica and S. aradensis, and longer longevities (100–120 s) for A. occidentale and I. lusitanicum, which could indicate a latitudinal pattern in terms of sperm longevity. At the same time, morphometric analysis was carried out for the four target species, revealing that spermatozoa showed similar sizes and shapes to other external fertilizers belonging to Leuscididae, with small spherical heads, uniflagellate and without acrosomes. In addition, different short-term gamete storage trails were performed by diluting sperm in 1:9 (sperm:extender) and storing them at 4ºC. Although the results obtained were uneven among the species studied, the dilution and extender used generated motilities above 40% up to day 4 of storage in S. aradensis and I. lusitanicum, and up to day 1–2 in A. hispanica and A. occidentale, respectively. Finally, gamete cryopreservation trials were also carried on these threatened species. Although cryopreserved samples showed significantly lower motility than fresh samples, some protocols generate acceptable percentages of viability, DNA integrity, and sperm motility in some species such as I. lusitanicum and A. occidentale. The data revealed that the protocol based on 10% DMSO plus 7.5% egg yolk generated the best results. This study is the first to assess the reproductive traits of wild and captive populations of endangered leuciscids endemic from the Iberian Peninsula, describing the spermatozoa kinetics and developing protocols for managing male gametes both in short- and long- term storage. Outcomes will provide new and useful tools to complement the management and conservation of ex-situ breeding programs that are being developed on these four endangered species.

Contaminant's toxicity is known to increase under a climate change scenario. Rare earth elements (REE) are emerging contaminants, that until now have no regulation regarding maximum concentration and discharge into the environment and have become vital to new technologies such as electric and hybrid-electric vehicle batteries, wind turbine generators and low-energy lighting. Studies of REE, namely Lanthanum (La) and Gadolinium (Gd), bioaccumulation, elimination, and toxicity in a multi-stressor environment (e.g., warming and acidification) are lacking. Hence, we investigated the algae phytoremediation capacity, the ecotoxicological responses and total chlorophyll and carotenoid contents in Ulva rigida during 7 days of co-exposure to La or Gd (15 µg L−1 or 10 µg L−1, respectively), and warming and acidification. Additionally, we assessed these metals elimination, after a 7-day phase. After one day of experiment La and Gd clearly showed accumulation/adsorption in different patterns, at future conditions. Unlikely for Gd, Warming and Acidification contributed to the lowest La accumulation, and increased elimination. Lanthanum and Gd triggered an adequate activation of the antioxidant defence system, by avoiding lipid damage. Nevertheless, REE exposure in a near-future scenario triggered an overproduction of ROS that requested an enhanced antioxidant response. Additionally, an increase in total chlorophyll and carotenoids could also indicate an unforeseen energy expense, as a response to a multi-stressor environment. publishersversion published

La nueva figura surgida entre las plataformas digitales de reparto denominados riders, se encuentra envuelta en diferentes controversias, alejándose de lo establecido hasta el momento en la legislación. Por ello, el presente trabajo analizará las distintas figuras laborales, así como los límites establecidos en las relaciones laborales, determinando las características e indicios en los cuales se han basado tanto la ley como la jurisprudencia hasta el momento, identificando ante qué tipo de figura nos encontramos, así como la relación laboral establecida entre las plataformas digitales de reparto y los riders. Para seguidamente centrar el punto de mira en las economías colaborativas, más concretamente en las plataformas digitales de reparto y su proliferación, mostrando consecuencias como la aparición de nuevos conflictos y con ello una nueva precariedad laboral. El presente trabajo constituye un estudio de la configuración del género de los personajes de las dos grandes novelas de Leopoldo Alas Clarín: La Regenta y Su único hijo. Para realizar dicho análisis, he abordado las transformaciones de los mecanismos del sistema de poder y del dispositivo de la sexualidad que tienen lugar en los siglos XVIII y XIX desde la perspectiva de Foucault, prestando especial atención al proceso de histerización del cuerpo de las protagonistas, siguiendo el ejemplo de las internas de las Salpêtrière. Además, estableceré una comparación entre ambas obras para determinar las diferencias en la concepción del autor de los temas mencionados y su proyección en las novelas. This work is a study of gender configuration of the characters from the two great novels by Leopoldo Alas Clarín, La Regenta and Su único hijo. To perform this analysis, I have addressed the transformation in the mechanisms of the system of power and the device of sexuality that take place in the eighteenth and nineteenth century from Foucault’s perspective, paying special attention to the process of hysterization of the bodies of the female protagonists, which we find similar to the hysterization of female bodies that was carried out in the Salpêtrière. Finally, I compare both works in order to make explicit the differences in the author’s conception of the aforementioned issues and how these novels reveal them. Universidad de Sevilla. The full developmental sequence from egg to juvenile of Parablennius pilicornis in controlled conditions is described. Embryonic development lasted 9 days at 18.0 to 21.0°C, 14 days at 17.0 to 20.0°C, 16 days at 16.0 to 19.0°C and 17 days at 14.0 to 18.5°C. Newly hatched larvae measured 3.1 mm total length (TL), had the mouth and anus open, pigmented eyes, almost no yolk, and the pectoral fins were small and unpigmented. Most larvae settled between day 66 and 69 after hatching (27.0 mm TL) and showed full juvenile pigmentation patterns between day 91 and 93 (30.0 mm TL). However, on day 61/62 after hatching (when they were more than 25.0 mm) they began to show a complex agonistic repertoire., La secuencia de desarrollo, desde el huevo hasta el estadio juvenil, de Parablennius pilicornis se describe en condiciones controladas. La duración del desarrollo embrionario fue de 9 días a 18.0-21.0ºC, 14 días a 17.0-20.0ºC, 16 días a 16.0-19.0ºC y 17 días a 14.0-18.5ºC. La talla de las larvas en el momento de la eclosión era de 3.1 mm TL, la boca y el ano ya estaban abiertos, los ojos pigmentados, prácticamente sin vitelo y las aletas pectorales pequeñas y sin pigmentación. El asentamiento, en la mayor parte de las larvas, tuvo lugar entre el día 66-69 después de la eclosión (27.0 mm TL) y mostraban el patrón de pigmentación característico de de la fases juvenil entre el día 91-93 (30.0 mm TL). No obstante, a partir del día 61-62 después de la eclosión (TL> 25.0 mm) empezaban a mostrar un repertorio agonístico complejo.
