Nonspecific orbital inflammation (NSOI), also known as orbital pseudotumor, is a condition characterized by inflammation in the tissues around the eye socket (orbit) without a clearly identifiable cause. This inflammatory disorder can affect various structures within the orbit, including muscles, fat, and connective tissues, leading to symptoms such as pain, swelling, and changes in vision. A 74-year-old man with a history of previous orbital trauma presented with acute-onset head and orbital pain, followed by restricted left eye movements in all directions, left ptosis, and a dilated left pupil. Orbital imaging revealed bilateral inflammation of the lateral rectus muscles and orbital fat, suggestive of bilateral NSOI, while brain and laboratory studies ruled out other differential diagnoses. The presence of left ptosis, a dilated pupil, and limited upward, downward, and inward movements in the left eye suggested intraorbital involvement of both the superior and inferior divisions of the left third nerve. The complete resolution of orbital symptoms and third nerve function after systemic corticosteroid therapy supported the inflammatory nature of the nerve involvement in this case. The case is notable in terms of bilateral involvement in adult-onset NSOI, the possible role of previous orbital trauma in the development of the disease, and the inflammatory involvement of third nerve divisions following the extension of inflammation into the orbital tissues. NSOI can mimic other, more serious conditions, making accurate diagnosis crucial for effective management and treatment. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is characterized as left ventricular apical ballooning in the absence of coronary occlusion. The most common trigger for TCM is emotional stress, but more cases are being reported demonstrating the association of TCM with intracranial pathologies. The pathophysiology of TCM is poorly understood but may be related to a surge of catecholamines, multivessel myocardial spasms, or neurologically mediated myocardial stunning. This case study describes the development of TCM after an ischemic stroke and establishes a possible association between the region of stroke and the development of TCM. We present the case of a 75-year-old woman who suffered a stroke of the left insular part (M2) of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and subsequently experienced cardiac arrest with pulseless electrical activity and echocardiogram findings concerning for TCM within 24 hours. TCM should be recognized as a potential risk in the initial hours following a cerebral ischemic stroke, particularly when the insular region is affected. Intelligent and safe overtaking maneuvering is always a challenging task for autonomous vehicles. This paper proposes and experimentally implements a novel approach of overtaking maneuvering using modified form of Rendezvous Guidance (RG) algorithm for trajectory planning and obstacle avoidance, considering driver safety and comfort during autonomous overtaking. The simulations for all possible scenarios are conducted to ensure the effectiveness of proposed modified RG algorithm. These scenarios involved presence and absence of obstacle vehicle in overtaking lane alongside leading vehicle in driving lane. In addition, the enhanced performance of modified RG algorithm is established over conventional RG algorithm by comparative analysis. The results indicate that overtaking maneuvering period could be decreased by 10% using a modified RG algorithm and vehicle will cover less distance to complete overtaking. The efficacy of proposed method is justified by performing experiments using mobile robots. Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the largest public health crises globally, with pleural TB comprising a large portion of cases. It has a significantly minimal presence within the United States in comparison to the rest of the world. Awareness of its presence and acumen on diagnostics and treatment are essential. Conventional tests are often time consuming, and do not always yield accurate results. We present the case of a patient presenting with fevers but no cough, who eventually found to have large pleural effusion and concluded to have pleural TB without pulmonary parenchymal involvement. With the advent of the materials genome initiative (MGI) in the United States and a similar focus on materials data around the world, a number of materials data resources and associated vocabularies, tools, and repositories have been developed. While the majority of systems focus on slices of computational data with an emphasis on metallic alloys, NanoMine is an open source platform with the goal of curating and storing widely varying experimental data on polymer nanocomposites (polymers doped with nanoparticles) and providing access to characterization and analysis tools with the long-term objective of promoting facile nanocomposite design. Data on over 2500 samples from the literature and individual laboratories has been curated to date into NanoMine, including 230 samples from the papers bound in this virtual issue. This virtual issue represents an experiment of the flexibility of the data repository to capture the unique experimental metadata requirements of many data sets at one time and to challenge the authors to participate in the curation of their research data associated with a given publication. In principle, NanoMine offers a FAIR platform in which data published in papers becomes directly F indable and A ccessible via simple search tools, with open metadata standards that are I nteroperable with larger materials data registries, and allows easy R euse of data, e.g. benchmarking against new results. Our hope is that with time, platforms such as this one could capture much of the newly published data on materials and form nodes in an interconnected materials data ecosystem which would allow researchers to robustly archive their data, add to the growing body of readily accessible data, and enable new forms of discovery by application of data analysis and design tools.

COVID-19 has catastrophically affected the world's panoramic view of human well-being in terms of healthcare and management. With the increase in the number of cases worldwide, neurological symptoms and psychological illnesses from COVID-19 have increasingly upsurged. Mental health illness and affective disorders, including depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, phobia, and panic disorders, are highly impacted due to social distress. The COVID-19 pandemic not only affected people with pre-existing mental and affective illnesses, but also healthy individuals with anxiety, worrying, and panic symptoms, and fear conditioning. In addditon, the novel coronavirus is known to impact the central nervous system in the brain, resulting in severe and certain long-lasting neurological issues. Owing to the significance of neurological and psychological events, the present perspective has been an attempt to disseminate the impact of COVID-19 on neural injury through inflammation, and its interrelation with psychological symptoms. In this current review, we synthesize the literature to highlight the critical associations between SARS-CoV-2 infection and the nervous system, and mental health illness, and discuss potential mechanisms of neural injury through psycho-neuroimmunity.

Suicidality is one of the leading causes of death among young adults in the United States and represents a significant health problem worldwide. The suicide rate among adolescents in the United States has increased dramatically in the latest years and has been accompanied by considerable changes in youth suicide, especially among young girls. Henceforth, we need a good understanding of the risk factors contributing to suicidal behavior in youth. An explanatory model for suicidal behavior that links clinical and psychological risk factors to the underlying neurobiological, neuropsychological abnormalities related to suicidal behavior might predict to help identify treatment options and have empirical value. Our explanatory model proposes that developmental, biological factors (genetics, proteomics, epigenetics, immunological) and psychological or clinical (childhood adversities) may have causal relevance to the changes associated with suicidal behavior. In this way, our model integrates findings from several perspectives in suicidality and attempts to explain the relationship between various neurobiological, genetic, and clinical observations in suicide research, offering a comprehensive hypothesis to facilitate understanding of this complex outcome. Unlabelled: Introduction Karachi, Pakistan was affected by a heat wave in June 2015 during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Many media reports attributed the excess deaths in part to the practice of daylight fasting during Ramadan. As much of the published research reports on heat-related mortality in Europe and the United States, an exploration of the effects of extreme heat on residents of a South Asian mega-city address a gap in current disaster research. Hypothesis/Problem This report investigated potential risk factors for excess mortality associated with the June 2015 heat wave in Karachi, Pakistan., Methods: Data were obtained through manual review of death certificates at public hospitals and private clinics in Karachi, Pakistan, conducted from July 1 through July 31, 2015 by a trained physician. Demographic data for any deaths with a primary cause of death of heat-related illness were recorded in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corp.; Redmond, Washington USA). EpiSheet (2012; Rothman. Modern Epidemiology. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA) was used to calculate risk differences (RD), rate ratios (RR), and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI)., Results: Overall, residents of Karachi were approximately 17 times as likely to die of a heat-related cause of death during June 2015 (RR=17.68; 95% CI, 13.87-22.53) when compared with the reference period of June 2014. Residents with a monthly income lower than 20,000 Pakistani Rupees (US $196; RD=0.03; 95% CI, 0.01-0.05) and those with less than a fifth grade education (RD=0.03; 95% CI, 0.00-0.05) were at significantly higher risk of death during the 2015 heat wave compared to the reference period., Conclusion: Fasting during Ramadan was not a significant risk factor for mortality from heat-related causes during the Karachi heat wave of June 2015. A large number of excess deaths were reported across all demographic groups, which due to the burden of record keeping in an under-resourced health system during a public health emergency, are almost certainly an underestimate.
