16. Ultrasmall, Amorphous V2O3Intimately Anchored on a Carbon Nanofiber Aerogel Toward High-Rate Zinc-Ion Batteries

Abstract

When considered as a cathode candidate for aqueous Zn-ion batteries, V2O3faces several problems, such as inherently unsuitable structure, fast structural degradation, and sluggish charge transport kinetics. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a V2O3intimately coupled carbon aerogel by a controllable ion impregnation and solid-state reaction strategy using bacterial cellulose and ammonium metavanadate as raw materials. In this newly designed structure, the carbonized carbon fiber network provides fast ion and electron transport channels. More importantly, the cellulose aerogel functions as a dispersing and supporting skeleton to realize the particle size reduction, uniform distribution, and amorphous features of V2O3. These advantages work together to realize adequate electrochemical activation during the initial charging process and shorter transport distance and faster transport kinetics of Zn2+. The batteries based on the V2O3/CNF aerogel exhibit a high-rate performance and an excellent cycling stability. At a current density of 20 A g–1, the V2O3/CNF aerogel delivers a specific capacity of 159.8 mAh g–1, and it demonstrates an exceptionally long life span over 2000 cycles at 12 A g–1. Furthermore, the electrodes with active material loadings as high as 10 mg cm–2still deliver appreciable specific capacities of 257 mAh g–1at 0.1 A g–1.

Abstract

(1 − x)Sr0.7Bi0.2TiO3-xBi(Mg0.5Ce0.5)O3 (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, and 0.1) ceramics were prepared through the solid-state reaction method. Structural, microstructural, dielectric, and energy storage characteristics were thoroughly examined. A dense microstructure with a single perovskite phase was obtained for x ≤ 0.06. A high energy storage density of ~ 1.86 J/cm3, recoverable energy density of ~ 1.67 J/cm3, and a high efficiency of ~ 90% at a breakdown electric field strength of 240 kV/cm were achieved for x = 0.06. Further, this composition also shows a ΔC/C25°C in the range of − 55 to 135 °C. The above characteristics indicate that this material is a suitable candidate for power-pulsed capacitor applications. Abstract

Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have high theoretical energy density and are regarded as next‐generation batteries. However, their practical energy density is much lower than the theoretical value. In previous studies, the increase of the areal capacity of the cathode and the decrease of the negative/positive ratio can be well achieved, yet the energy density shows no corresponding increase. The main reason is the difficulty in decreasing electrolyte dosage because lean electrolyte inevitably causes the deterioration of reaction kinetics and sulfur utilization. Thus, the electrolyte/active material ratio in the reported works is usually higher than 10 µL mg−1, much higher than that in Li‐ion batteries (usually lower than ≈0.3 µL mg−1 for cathode). Although many works have focused on this topic, a systematic discussion is still rare. This review systematically discusses the key challenges and solutions for assembling high‐performance lean‐electrolyte Li–S batteries. First, the key challenges arising from lean‐electrolyte conditions are discussed in detail. Then, the approaches and the recent progress to reduce electrolyte usage, including optimization of electrode porosity and ion conduction, the introduction of electrocatalysis, exploration of new active materials, electrolyte regulation, and Li metal protection are reviewed. 27. Hierarchical Flower-like NiMn-LDH@MnCo2S4Grown on Nickel Foam as a High-Specific Capacity Faradaic Electrode

Abstract

To improve the electrochemical performance and life cycle of supercapacitor electrode materials, hierarchical nanostructures are being developed. In this study, rationally designed hierarchical-structured flower-like NiMn-LDH@MnCo2S4was grown on nickel foam via a hydrothermal synthesis scheme. The hierarchical structure showed an improved electrochemical activity. The as-prepared NiMn-LDH@MnCo2S4Faradaic electrode exhibited a specific capacity of 341.1 mAh g–1(1228 C g–1) at a current density of 2 A g–1compared to the pristine MnCo precursor and MnCo2S437.5 mAh g–1which showed a specific capacity of 135.2 C g–1and 150.6 mAh g–1(542.2 C g–1), respectively, at 2 A g–1. The as-prepared hybrid electrode exhibited an exceptional cyclic stability of 95%.

© 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. In this research, the fabrication of silver nanoparticles and experimental nonlinear response (NLO). The fabrication of the silver nanoparticles has been done using E-Beam evaporation on a glass substrate (Ag-NPs) and investigation of their nonlinear optical response (NLO). The silver nanoparticles was evaluated by optical spectrum (UV-Vis) that shows localized surface Plasmon band at 375 nm. The experiment shows the nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction effect of silver nanoparticles, the silver nanoparticles is analysed by Z-Scan technique using a femtoseconds laser with 800 nm wavelength. The result shows the nonlinear absorption (NLA) is at 4.8710-4cmW-1, while (NLR) is at 7.9410-9cmW-1.

In this paper, an investigation and evaluation to enhanced double weight (EDW) code is performed, a new technique for code structuring and building using modified arithmetical model has been given for the code in place of employing previous technique based on Trial Inspections. Innovative design has been employed for the code into P2P networks using diverse weighted EDW code to be fitting into optical CDMA relevance applications. A new developed relation for EDW code is presented, the relation is based on studying and experimenting the effect of input transmission power with code weight, and the relation developed using numerical analysis method. This relation makes the estimation for the system input power needed more efficient. The results of the code has been explained by eye diagram and parametric illustrations from the simulated results. The result shows a magnificent performance of the code during high number of users and weight. On the other hand, the relation developed for power measurement helps to prevent power loss and consumption.

Abstract

Two-dimensional (2D) composites with characteristics of high conductivity, good redox activity and large microporosity are constructed via sandwiching reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets with conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) containing built-in redox-active ferrocene moieties. The integration of redox-active CMPs and conductive rGO within a 2D porous framework gives rise to remarkable faradaic energy storage as well as fast charge/energy transfer between the electrode and the electrolyte. As a result, the supercapacitors fabricated with these 2D hybrids possess remarkable capacitance at varied current density and excellent cycling stability. Thanks to the structural flexibility of CMPs, this strategy opens an avenue towards the design of new-generation supercapacitors and other electrochemical devices with molecular accuracy. Abstract

Porous crystalline materials such as covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have gained tremendous popularity in multidisciplinary areas of science and technology. In this study, for the first time, we report a covalent triazine-based framework (CTF-1) as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of Cd2+ from aqueous solutions. CTF-1 offered excellent stability under extreme conditions for the effective removal of cadmium cations (Cd2+) from aqueous solutions. CTF-1 was first synthesized through an ionothermal method and then characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM and BET surface area measurements to confirm its highly crystalline and microporous nature. Batch adsorption experiments were systematically conducted under a wide range of pH, metal ions concentration, adsorbent dosage and contact time to investigate kinetics, thermodynamics and adsorption properties of CTF-1 towards Cd2+ ions removal. The pseudo-second-order model showed good fitting to experimental data, whereas Langmuir and D–R isotherms confirmed the chemical nature of the adsorption. Similarly, thermodynamic parameters indicated the adsorption to be spontaneous and endothermic. Furthermore, our simulation results showed that CTF-1 possess uniform distribution of negative charge along the framework, making it an ideal candidate for the adsorption of cations together with the high stability in both acidic and basic pH.
