Background: Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women and the seventh most common worldwide. Objectives: The present study aimed at investigating the usability of cure models in analyzing patients' survival. Besides, the factors affecting the long-term and short-term survival of the patients were determined, usingWeibull, log-logistic, and log-normal models. Methods: The sample population of the study included 109 female patients with cervical cancer referred to Motahhari Hospital of Urmia (West Azerbaijan province) from 2004 to 2015. The cure survival analysis was used to determine the patients' survival. Results: The mean and standard deviation age at diagnosis was 50.1±11.7 years. The patients' age, age at marriage, and the disease relapse were significant in the single-variable model on the long-term survival function of the patients. Moreover, the findings showed that Cured Log Logistic Parametric Model was more suitable for analyzing survival data in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. The relapse variable was significant for all the parametric models. Conclusions: Given the divided sample population into immune and susceptible groups, the mixture cure models can be used to analyze the long-term and short-term survival of the patients with cervical cancer. Background: Nurses' adherence to ethical values in the field of patient care is affected by various factors, especially moral intelligence. The role of moral intelligence on professional commitment is an issue leading to improving the quality of services and health promotion. The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive power of moral intelligence on professional commitment of nurses. Method and Materials: This descriptive-analytical study was carried out on 100 nurses and 300 patients selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Lenik & Kiel moral Intelligence Questionnaire and Nurse Professional Commitment Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and regression. Results: The results showed that there was a significant statistical relationship between moral intelligence and professional commitment (P=0.001). There was a significant relationship between demographic variables, age and work experience with moral intelligence and two variables of gender and professional commitment (P <0.05). In addition, regression showed that dimensions of nurses 'moral intelligence account for 41% of the variance of nurses' professional commitment. of the four dimensions of nurses' moral intelligence, compassion had the most significant effect (P=0.03, β=0.32). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that moral intelligence is associated with professional commitment and is able to predict it. Background: Women's beliefs regarding breast cancer and its screening approaches were considered antecedents of their behavioral changes. Understanding of these beliefs in women requires a valid and reliable instrument. The present study seeks to translate the English version of the Champion's Revised Health Belief Model Scale (CRHBMS) into the Persian language and assess its psychometric properties. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 334 students at Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Iran, 2016. The 57-item CRHBMS was translated to Persian language, back translated, and tested. To test the face and content validity of the Persian version; item analysis, Content Validity Ratio (CVR), and Content Validity Index (CVI) were applied, respectively. Construct validity of the Persian scale was performed by Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses (EFA, CFA) using Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin and Bartlett's tests in SPSS 16 and LISREL8.72 software. The reliability of the translated scale was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and test-retest approaches. Results: In the EFA, eight factors were extracted concerning breast cancer screening, and each item was loaded on its specific factor. These factors were self-efficacy, health motivation, benefits-mammography, benefits-Breast Self-Examination (BSE), barriers-mammography, barriers-BSE, susceptibility, and severity. The final 42-item scale was confirmed by the CFA, and all goodness of fit indices showed a proper fit of the model. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and test-retest correlation of the subscales ranged from 0.72-0.89 and 0.67-0.93, respectively. Conclusions: The study suggests that the Persian version of CRHBMS is a feasible scale for evaluating women's health beliefs regarding breast cancer and its screening behaviors. Background: The effect of high-legume hypocaloric diet on metabolic features in women is unclear. This study provided an opportunity to find effects of high-legume diet on metabolic features in women who consumed high legumes at pre-study period. Methods: In this randomized controlled trial after 2 weeks of a run-in period on an isocaloric diet, 42 premenopausal women with central obesity were randomly assigned into two groups: (1) Hypocaloric diet enriched in legumes (HDEL) and (2) hypocaloric diet without legumes (HDWL) for 6 weeks. The following variables were assessed before intervention and 3 and 6 weeks after its beginning: Waist circumference (WC), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting serum concentrations of triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting blood sugar (FBS), insulin, homeostasis model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). We used multifactor model of nested multivariate analysis of variance repeated measurements and t-test for statistical analysis. Results: HDEL and HDWL significantly reduced the WC. HDEL significantly reduced the SBP and TG. Both HDEL and HDWL significantly increased fasting concentration of insulin and HOMA-IR after 3 weeks, but their significant effects on insulin disappeared after 6 weeks and HDEL returned HOMA-IR to basal levels in the subsequent 3 weeks. In HDEL group percent of decrease in AST and ALT between 3rd and 6th weeks was significant. In HDWL group percent of increase in SBP, DBP, FBS and TG between 3rd and 6th weeks was significant. Background: Stress at work is an increasing common feature of modern life. Job stress has adverse health effects on cardiovascular system. This study was the first one which has used effort- reward imbalance model (ERI) to measure job stress in an Iranian group of workers to assess adverse effects of job stress on cardiovascular risk factors. The aim of this study was to examine relationship between job stress and cardiovascular risk factors including high blood pressure, overweight, smoking, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, high level of triglyceride and low density lipoprotein and low level of high density lipoprotein. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 109 randomly selected employees of Urmia petrochemical company. A self-administrated questionnaire included demographic characteristics, smoking status, work stress, and negative affectivity was used to collect data. Blood sample was also taken in order to determine biological risk factors. Multiple logistic regression was used to evaluate the effect of job stress on cardiovascular risk factors. Findings: Overall prevalence of ERI and high overcommitement were 54.1% and 26.6% respectively. There was a significant relationship between ERI and age (P = 0.05), number of children (P < 0.024) and education level (P = 0.005). According to ERI index, workers with stress have shown an excess risk of 43% for hypertension, 14% for being smoker, 55% for diabetes, 106% for high triglyceride, 21% for high cholesterol, 41% for low density lipoprotein, and 191% for low level of high density lipoprotein. Exploring other components of job stress, i.e. overcommitement and considering low level of overcommitement as a reference category, there was an increasing risk in high blood pressure, overweight, diabetes, high triglyceride and low density lipoprotein. Conclusion: This study showed an increase in cardiovascular risk factors by increasing in job stress. However, these evidences were not statistically significant. It is recommended to use prospective cohort studies to examine effects of job stress on cardiovascular system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
