Roadmapping is an established visual mapping method used widely in a variety of organizations. It navigates technology and strategic planning in a structured manner for improved strategy development and decision-making. However, roadmapping implementation can be challenging particularly when initiating in corporate organizations due to the broad range of stakeholder involvement. This paper examines the background history and lessons learned from IHI Corporation, a leading Japanese heavy industry manufacturer, to provide insights regarding how roadmapping implementation can be initiated effectively in corporate settings. Using the roadmapping maturity model for analysis and discussion, this paper contributes to both industrial practice and academic understanding of roadmapping implementation maturity. Many firms increasingly collaborate with universities to create innovation through the commercialization of scientific knowledge. However, a variety of mismatches between a firm's interests and the value delivered by university partners (e.g., common knowledge base, strategic goals, agreements on intellectual property management, etc.) can cause rough interactions and relationships. Therefore, managers demand an effective practice to support the management of university-industry collaborations (UICs). This article builds on the previous work on a matching quality assessment model by extending its applicability to propose an analytical framework for developing a strategic roadmap to guide relationship development toward effective UIC. Daim, Nathasit Gerdsri This study explores future powertrain systems with the aim of defining the most probable implantation road map for the different alternatives to improve powertrain efficiency. A new methodology called technology development envelope (TDE) for transforming the roadmapping approach to the level in which it is dynamic, flexible and operationalisable is used for a case study of Ford Otosan's technological planning concept. In the first section, technologic roadmapping methodology is explained. As a next step, each powertrain solution is explained. Advantages regarding efficiency, fuel consumption, cost-effectiveness, emissions, infrastructure and performance have been listed. In the next sections, TDE methodology and the application DELPHI method are described in detail. A series of criteria and sub-factors have been generated with the aim to compare the different powertrain systems to identify the best solutions.
