El constructo de desvinculación moral tiene implicaciones muy importantes en el estudio de diversos fenómenos psicosociales. Ante la ausencia del análisis de las propiedades psicométricas de la escala de desvinculación moral de Bandura en población mexicana, el objetivo de esta investigación fue la obtención de evidencias de validez factorial y confiabilidad de dicha escala. Como hipótesis central de esta investigación, se consideró que la escala podría mantener las dimensiones estructurales reportadas en la versión original, así como la fusión de los ocho mecanismos propuestos por Bandura en un factor de segundo orden. La muestra estuvo conformada por 480 estudiantes universitarios de tres instituciones públicas de nivel superior. Los resultados mostraron que el modelo con una estructura de primer orden en su versión adaptada al español, incluyendo los 32 reactivos propuestos originalmente, presentó características psicométricas adecuadas; sin embargo, el modelo de segundo orden mostró una mejor variabilidad observada en las puntuaciones de 27 reactivos. Además, todos los reactivos tuvieron un valor adecuado con respecto a los índices de bondad de ajuste, así como una suficiente variabilidad explicada tanto en las mujeres como en los hombres. El análisis de fiabilidad de esta escala indica que posee una elevada consistencia interna (α = .89). Con base en estas evidencias, se concluyó que esta escala es un instrumento válido y fiable para evaluar la desvinculación moral en la población general.

El estudio de la violencia escolar se ha caracterizado por una escasez de investigaciones que analicen la influencia de los procesos cognitivos en el origen y desarrollo de la violencia que se gesta en las escuelas. Para dar respuesta a este vacío en la literatura, el objetivo de la presente investigación fue examinar el efecto mediador de las actitudes hacia la violencia en la relación entre la desvinculación moral y la violencia escolar, así como en la relación entre las creencias normativas hacia la violencia y la violencia escolar. Basado en la teoría del aprendizaje social, se construyó un modelo conceptual con la finalidad de analizar las relaciones entre las variables de estudio y los posibles efectos mediadores. Los participantes incluyeron a 220 hombres y 239 mujeres quienes eran estudiantes de tres universidades mexicanas en el centro del país. Los resultados mostraron que los datos se ajustan correctamente al modelo (X2(2) = 4.28, p > .05) (TLI = 0.97; GFI = .97; CFI = 0.98; RMSEA = 0.04). Se encontró que los efectos indirectos de las actitudes hacia la violencia en la relación entre la desvinculación moral y la violencia escolar fueron significativos, así como en la relación entre las creencias normativas hacia la violencia y la violencia escolar. Los análisis mostraron que los efectos mediadores de las actitudes hacia la violencia para la desvinculación moral y las creencias normativas fueron significativos. Con base en estos resultados, es posible concluir que las actitudes hacia la violencia crearon un sendero a través del cual la desvinculación moral, así como las creencias normativas impactaron significativamente la presencia de la violencia escolar.

La violencia en el noviazgo es un fenómeno multifactorial que requiere de estudios que profundicen respecto a los efectos que tienen las creencias culturales en el comportamiento tanto del agresor como de la víctima. Teniendo esto en cuenta, el objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar la relación entre las creencias acerca de la violencia y la prevalencia de la violencia en el noviazgo. Para ello, se contó con una muestra de 420 estudiantes de dos universidades públicas mexicanas que respondieron el Inventario de creencias acerca de la violencia hacia la esposa, el Inventario de conflictos en las relaciones de noviazgo, y un cuestionario de información sociodemográfica. Los datos recolectados fueron examinados por medio de un análisis de correlación canónica, y los resultados mostraron que el modelo en general fue estadísticamente significativo (Wilks λ = .654, F (20, 677.54) = 4.626, p < .05); que el tamaño del efecto del modelo general fue de .346, lo que indica que este explicó el 34.6 % de la varianza compartida por los dos conjuntos de variables; y que, específicamente en la primera función, el coeficiente de mayor magnitud fue el de la variable de justificación de la violencia (r2 s= 76.2; h2 = 90.0), seguido por la del apoyo que se le puede brindar a la víctima (r2 s = 57.1; h2 = 94.5). Dating violence is a multifactorial phenomenon that requires in-depth studies regarding the effects that cultural beliefs have on the behavior of both the aggressor and the victim. With this in mind, the objective of this research was to determine the relationship between beliefs about violence and the prevalence of dating violence. To this end, a sample of 420 students from two Mexican public universities answered the Inventory of Beliefs about Wife Violence, the Inventory of Conflicts in Dating Relationships, and a sociodemographic information questionnaire. The data collected were examined through a canonical correlation analysis, and the results showed that the overall model was statistically significant (Wilks λ = .654, F (20, 677.54) = 4.626, p < .05); that the effect size of the overall model was .346, indicating that it explained 34. 6 % of the variance shared by the two sets of variables; and that, specifically in the first function, the coefficient of greatest magnitude was that of the variable of justification of the violence (r2 s = 76.2; h2 = 90.0), followed by that of the support that can be given to the victim (r2 s = 57.1; h2 = 94.5).

The effects of family of origin violence and intimate partner violence have been extensively documented; however, very few studies have examined the interaction with emotion regulation strategies. Thus, the objective of this research was to analyze whether different types of emotion regulation strategies, both adaptive and maladaptive, mediate the relationship between family of origin violence and intimate partner violence in the Mexican population. A total of 838 participants (45.9% men and 54.1% women) responded to instruments addressing family of origin violence, emotion regulation strategies, and intimate partner violence. The results revealed that both structural models were significant. For women, the model showed an adequate fit X2 (11, N = 838) = 22.75, p = .288, GFI = .95, AGFI = .91, NFI = .98, CFI = .97, RMSEA = .05. Likewise, we found similar indexes for men X2 (11, N = 838) = 28.20, p = .348, GFI = .97, AGFI = .93, NFI = .97, CFI = .95, RMSEA = .04. Specifically, the direct effects of adaptive strategies on intimate partner violence were statistically significant. Meanwhile, the direct effects of family of origin violence on maladaptive emotion regulation strategies were significant, as were the direct effects of maladaptive strategies on intimate partner violence. In turn, the indirect effects of family of-origin violence were significantly related to intimate partner violence via maladaptive emotion regulation strategies. In addition, the results clearly showed that men reported higher levels of aggression against women. Finally, regarding the selection of emotion regulation strategies, while women employed more adaptive emotion regulation, men showed a more definite tendency to use maladaptive emotion regulation.

Uno de los retos más importantes sobre los estudios en humanos es el de explicar los mecanismos fisiológicos que subyacen en el despliegue del comportamiento. La psicología evolutiva trata de establecer una relación de causa-efecto entre la forma en que se comporta el humano y los cambios fisiológicos que ocurren en él. A fin de darle una interpretación evolutiva a la conducta humana, en el presente trabajo se sometió a prueba la hipótesis que propone que los hombres perciben a la mujer más atractiva durante la ovulación en función de ciertos cambios fenotípicos causados por las concentraciones de estrógenos, lo que les indica señales de su condición de fertilidad. Además, proponemos que otras mujeres también son capaces de discriminar la ovulación como un mecanismo de competencia femenina, dado que en ese periodo podrían ser más atractivas para sus parejas. Para poner a prueba la hipótesis se realizó un seguimiento de progesterona y estradiol a lo largo del ciclo menstrual a 50 mujeres, tomándoles fotos en cada una de las fases del ciclo (folicular temprana, folicular tardía, periovulatoria y fase lútea) y se les preguntó a hombres y mujeres en qué foto se veían más atractivas. Tanto los hombres como las mujeres respondieron que perciben a las mujeres como más atractivas en el periodo periovulatorio (folicular tardía y periovulatoria)., One of the most important challenges for studies on humans is to explain the physiological mechanisms underlying the unfolding of human behavior. Developmental psychology seeks to establish a causal relationship between the way in which humans behave and the physiological changes that they experience. In order to provide a developmental interpretation of human behavior, we tested the hypothesis that proposes that men perceive women as more attractive during ovulation, given certain phenotypic changes caused by estrogen concentration-, which constitute signals of fertility. Furthermore, we put forward that other women are able to discriminate ovulation as a mechanism of female competition, since in this period women may seem more attractive to their partners. To test this hypothesis monitoring of progesterone and estradiol concentrations was performed in 50 women throughout their menstrual cycle. Photographs were taken in each of the cycle phases (early follicular, late follicular, periovulatory and luteal phase), and men and women were asked in which photograph women were more attractive. When a sow copulates with different boars, fecundation can take a slant towards the best quality male, which should have a more competitive ejaculation. In polyandric animals, genitals can be more elaborated and be an indication of spermatic competence or cryptic female choice. In swine, the male and female genital morphologic characteristics are evidence that allow the assumption of spermatic competence and cryptic choice in this species. In order to prove this hypothesis, the pater- nity of a group of 18 York/Landrace (Y/N) sows was determined; these sows copulated with three boars: Yorkshire (Y/Y), York/Landrace (Y/N) and Landrace (N/N). The three boars had the same probability of copulating in the first, second, and third place with each of the sows in an interval of 12 hours between each mating. Four polymorphic molecular markers were used in order to establish the paternity (S0033, S0035, S0036 and S0037). The results indicate that the Y/N male had 85.59% of paternity, Y/ Ym ale 8.8% and N/ N5 .8%. According to the mating order, when the Y/ Nm ale copulated in the first place, it had 89.6% paternity (26 offspring; 12 males; 46.15% and 14 females, 53.85%) when it copulated in the second place, it had 100% paternity (8 offspring; 4 males, 50% and 4 females, 50%), and when it mated in the third place, it had 77.41% paternity (22 offspring; 13 males, 59.1% and 9 females, 40.9%). Sows in estrus participated in the removal of semen from four sows minutes after the copula by female-female mating. Se ha descrito que los cerdos ferales machos (Sus scrofa) son usualmente solitarios pero durante la época de apareamiento compiten por el acceso a las hembras y éstas pueden sesgar su elección y copular con alguno de ellos. A esto se le conoce como elección precopulatoria femenina. Con la finalidad de determinar si en condiciones de cautiverio ocurre esta elección, se aparearon 18 hembras multíparas yorklandrace Y/N con tres machos con experiencia pertenecientes a tres razas yorkshire Y/Y, yorklandrace Y/N, y landrace N/N, y se registraron las conductas precopulatorias y copulatorias de ambos sexos. También se registraron las interacciones entre hembras. Durante la fase precopulatoria el macho Y/N desplegó con mayor frecuencia mordiscos (60%) y recibió de las hembras mas atención en términos de tiempo (53.7%), que los otros machos. En cambio, el macho Y/Y desplegó con mayor frecuencia conductas como "castañeteo de dientes" (83.33%), "vocalización" (56.52%) y "trompeo" (64%). El macho N/N desplegó con mayor frecuencia el "olfateo de vagina" (48%). Durante la cópula el macho Y/N desplegó con mayor frecuencia el contacto naso-vaginal (41%) y el macho N/N, vocalización (46.9%). Cuatro de las hembras después de la cópula fueron montadas por otras hembras en estro, las primeras expulsaron el tapón vaginal del macho. Los resultados demuestran una fuerte competencia conductual entre los tres machos y sesgo en la elección precopulatoria femenina hacia el macho heterocigotico Y/N. Una posible explicación a este hecho es que tanto los mordiscos como las secreciones salivales y prepuciales del macho Y/N fueron percibidas por las hembras como pertenecientes a un macho de buena calidad genética. La expulsión del tapón vaginal de las hembras montadas por otras hembras posiblemente indica una forma de competencia intrasexual, que reduciría las probabilidades de fertilización de las hembras recién copuladas.

Study Objective Describe the impact of teen pregnancy on later ovarian activity and metabolic hormones considering the concentration of current levels of ovarian steroids and leptin in a sample of Mexican females. Design Cross-sectional study in the maternity of the General Hospital of Atlacomulco and campus of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. Participants 71women between the ages of 18 and 24, and 160 neonates seen between March 2010 and June 2012. Main Outcome Measures The measurements obtained included anthropometric body composition (bioelectrical impedance), serum hormone quantification of ovarian steroids and leptin (immunoassays), and the Apgar scores, height, and weight in neonates. Statistical analysis included ANOVA, Student, and chi-square for P Results Adolescent mothers showed significantly lower concentrations of estradiol (P = .001) and progesterone (P = .001). However, higher levels of leptin in adolescent mothers were not statistically different compared with older mothers (P = .84). Also, leptin was correlated with all measures of adiposity. The mean birth weights (P = .001) and Apgar scores (P = .001) were lower in neonates of adolescent mothers than in neonates of adult mothers. There was no association between maternal age with the anthropometric variables studied. Conclusions Early reproduction represents a metabolic stress condition that modifies the long term ovarian activity and metabolic hormones, and impacts the morbidity-mortality of the mother and offspring in a later vital life cycle stage.

White-tailed deer is a species with a large behavioral plasticity and adaptation to different habitats, including their food habits. This study was conducted with the aim to determine the food habits of this species in the cloud (BMM) and pine-oak (BPE) forests. Deer scats and plant samples were obtained following standard methods, from Sierra Nanchititla Park in the State of Mexico, from June 1990 to May 1992. A total of 104 deer pellet-groups were collected, and histological analysis for herbivores was used and compared with stock samples of plant tissues collected from the study area. We applied the Spearman correlation and Morisita index to determine alimentary preference. The results showed that the deer consumes 79.44% of plant species from BMM and 20.56% of the BPE. There is a selectivity tendency for 12 of the 14 plant species located in the BMM, while for BPE no tendency was observed. Key species that are part of the elemental diet of the deer in these areas were: Acalypha setosa, Smilax pringlei, Psidium sartorianum and Dendropanax arborea. The consumption of plants did not differ significantly between the dry and rainy seasons in terms of biological form, however, during the dry season there is a tendency to consume trees, and by the end of the rainy season to consume herbs. The data indicate that the deer can be selective with BMM plants, while for the BPE tends to be opportunistic.
