The subjects’ suicidal ideation was assessed using the Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation scale (PANSI), and the intensity of somatic pain was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale-11 (NRS-11). Subjects were assessed for forearm and tibial pain sensitivity using a hand-held pressure pain instrument, and experimental pain sensitivity measures included pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pressure pain tolerance (PTO). Differences in pain intensity and sensitivity between the MDD group and the Control group were compared, and the association of pain intensity and sensitivity with suicidal ideation was analyzed.Results: The incidence of physical pain in adolescent depressive disorder was higher at 88.6%, which was significantly higher than the Control group (P< 0.001), and the pain intensity in the MDD group (3.77± 2.48) was significantly higher than the Control group (0.617± 0.99) (P < 0.001).The Pain tolerance was significantly higher in the MDD group (forearm 105.37 ± 41.46; tibia 121.29 ± 41.60) than in the Control group (forearm 91.92 ± 37.62; tibia 105.47 ± 35.52) (P < 0.05).Linear regression analysis showed that the greater the pain intensity and pain tolerance, the higher the total PANSI score.Binary logistic regression showed that pain intensity was an influencing factor for suicidal ideation.Conclusion: Adolescents with depressive disorders have higher pain intensity and lower pain sensitivity than healthy adolescents. As stroke is the leading cause of mortality and disability in China, patients constitute a large share of post-acute-care patients among all hospitalized patients. This study was to identify the cost determinants and establish a case-mix classification of the post-acute care system for stroke patients in China.Patients and Methods: A total of 5401 post-acute stroke patients in seven hospitals of Jinhua City from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected. Demographic characteristics, medical status, functional measures (eg, the Barthel Index, Mini-Mental State Examination, Gugging Swallowing Screen, Hamilton Depression Scale), and cost data were extracted. Generalized linear model (GLM) and quantile regression (QR) were conducted to determine the predictors of cost, and a case-mix classification model was established using the decision-tree analysis.Results: The GLM regression revealed that gender, tracheostomy, complication or comorbidity (CC), activities of daily living (ADL), and cognitive impairment were the main variables significantly affecting the hospitalization expenses of post-acute stroke patients. The QR model showed that the gender, tracheostomy and CC factors had a more significant impact on per diem costs on the upper quantiles. In contrast, cognitive impairment had a more substantial effect on the lower quantiles, and ADL significantly impacted the central quantile. Using tracheostomy, CC, and ADL as node variables of the regression tree, 12 classes were generated. The case-mix classification performed reliably and robustly, as measured by the reduction in the variation statistic (RIV=0.46) and class-specific coefficients of variation (CV less than 1.0; range: 0.18– 0.81).Conclusion: QR has strengths in comprehensively identifying cost predictors across cost groups. Tracheostomy, CC, and ADL significantly can predict the expenses of post-acute care for stroke patients. The present study was designed to examine the anti-inflammatory effects of N-acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline (Ac-SDKP) on lung macrophages and bone osteoclasts after silica inhalation in rats.Methods: Wistar rats and NR8383 and RAW 264.7 cell lines were used in the present study. The receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathways was measured in the lung tissue of rats or NR8383/RAW 264.7 cells exposed to silica. The microarchitecture of the trabecular bone in the tibia and femur was evaluated in silicotic rats. Furthermore, the roles of Ac-SDKP on silicotic rats, silica-treated NR8383/RAW 264.7 cells, and RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation were studied.Results: The data indicated that silica inhalation might activate the RANKL and TLR4 signaling pathways in lung macrophages, thus inducing the lung inflammatory and proteolytic phenotype of macrophages and osteoclasts in lung and bone. Ac-SDKP maintained the lung elastin level by inhibiting lung inflammation and macrophage activation via the RANKL and TLR4 signaling pathways. Ac-SDKP also attenuated the reduction in femoral bone mineral density in silicotic rats by inhibiting osteoclast differentiation via the RANKL signaling pathway.Conclusion: Our findings support the hypothesis that inhalation of crystalline silica induces activation of lung macrophages and bone osteoclasts via the RANKL and TLR4 signaling pathways. Increasing evidence suggests that aberrant expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) frequently occurs in glioma and miRNAs are critical regulators of glioma. miR-671 has recently been revealed to be a novel miRNA that plays a vital role in human glioblastoma multiforme. However, the functional role and underlying mechanisms of miR-671-3p require further analysis. Materials and methods: Western blot and fluorescence quantitative PCR were used to assess the expression of cytoskeleton-associated protein 4 (CKAP4) and miR-671-3p, respectively. A Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and a Boyden chamber assay were used to detect the proliferative and migratory abilities of glioma cells. A luciferase assay was used to determine the target gene of miR-671-3p. Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry. Results: Our results revealed that overexpression of miR-671-3p promoted cell proliferation and migration in vitro. Meanwhile, forced expression of miR-671-3p reduced apoptosis. In contrast, inhibition of miR-671-3p had the opposite effects. We also identified CKAP4 to be a direct target of miR-671-3p. The expression levels of CKAP4 were decreased in clinical samples and inversely correlated with miR-671-3p expression levels. Ectopic expression of CKAP4 reversed the promotive activity of miR-671-3p in the proliferation and migration and enhanced apoptosis. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that miR-671-3p is a predominant positive regulator of glioma progression, thus providing new insights into the molecular mechanisms of glioma development. The findings suggest that the miR-6713p/CKAP4 axis may serve as a potential therapeutic target or biomarker in glioma. Keywords: miR-671-3p, glioma, migration, proliferation, CKAP4

The MIRAGE-Shanghai experiment was designed to characterize the factors controlling regional air pollution near a Chinese megacity (Shanghai) and was conducted during September 2009. This paper provides information on the measurements conducted for this study. In order to have some deep analysis of the measurements, a regional chemical/ dynamical model (version 3 of Weather Research and Forecasting Chemical model - WRF-Chemv3) is applied for this study. The model results are intensively compared with the measurements to evaluate the model capability for calculating air pollutants in the Shanghai region, especially the chemical species related to ozone formation. The results show that the model is able to calculate the general distributions (the level and the variability) of air pollutants in the Shanghai region, and the differences between the model calculation and the measurement are mostly smaller than 30 %, except the calculations of HONO (nitrous acid) at PD (Pudong) and CO (carbon monoxide) at DT (Dongtan). The main scientific focus is the study of ozone chemical formation not only in the urban area, but also on a regional scale of the surrounding area of Shanghai. The results show that during the experiment period, the ozone photochemical formation was strongly under the VOC (volatile organic compound)-limited condition in the urban area of Shanghai. Moreover, the VOC-limited condition occurred not only in the city, but also in the larger regional area. There was a continuous enhancement of ozone concentrations in the downwind of the megacity of Shanghai, resulting in a significant enhancement of ozone concentrations in a very large regional area in the surrounding region of Shanghai. The sensitivity study of the model suggests that there is a threshold value for switching from VOC-limited condition to NOx (nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide)-limited condition. The threshold value is strongly dependent on the emission ratio of NOx /VOCs. When the ratio is about 0.4, the Shanghai region is under a strong VOC-limited condition over the regional scale. In contrast, when the ratio is reduced to about 0.1, the Shanghai region is under a strong NOx-limited condition. The estimated threshold value (on the regional scale) for switching from VOC-limited to NOx-limited condition ranges from 0.1 to 0.2. This result has important implications for ozone production in this region and will facilitate the development of effective O3 control strategies in the Shanghai region. © Author(s) 2013. Ambient surface level concentrations of isoprene (C5H8) were measured in the major forest regions located south of Shanghai, China. Because there is a large coverage of broad-leaved trees in this region, high concentrations of isoprene were measured, ranging from 1 to 6 ppbv. A regional dynamical/chemical model (WRF-Chem) is applied for studying the effect of such high concentrations of isoprene on the ozone production in the city of Shanghai. The evaluation of the model shows that the calculated isoprene concentrations agree with the measured concentrations when the measured isoprene concentrations are lower than 3 ppb, but underestimate the measurements when the measured values are higher than 3 ppb. Isoprene was underestimated only at sampling sites near large bamboo plantations, a high isoprene source, indicating the need to include geospatially resolved bamboo distributions in the biogenic emission model. The assessment of the impact of isoprene on ozone formation suggests that the concentrations of peroxy radicals (RO2) are significantly enhanced due to the oxidation of isoprene, with a maximum of 30 ppt. However, the enhancement of RO2 is confined to the forested regions. Because the concentrations of NOx were low in the forest regions, the ozone production due to the oxidation of isoprene (C5H8 + OH → → RO 2 + NO → → O3) is low (less than 2-3 ppb h -1). The calculation further suggests that the oxidation of isoprene leads to the enhancement of carbonyls (such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde) in the regions downwind of the forests, due to continuous oxidation of isoprene in the forest air. As a result, the concentrations of HO2 radical are enhanced, resulting from the photo-disassociation of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. Because the enhancement of HO2 radical occurs in regions downwind of the forests, the enhancement of ozone production (6-8 ppb h-1) is higher than in the forest region, causing by higher anthropogenic emissions of NOx. This study suggests that the biogenic emissions in the major forests to the south of Shanghai have important impacts on the levels of ozone in the city, mainly due to the carbonyls produced by the continuous oxidation of isoprene in the forest air. © 2011 Author(s).

Ozone and its precursors were measured from 15 June 2006 to 14 June 2007 at an urban site in Shanghai and used to characterize photochemical oxidant production in this region. During the observation period, ozone displays a seasonal variation with a maximum in spring. Observed nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) reached a maximum in winter and a minimum in summer. NOx and CO has a similar double-peak diurnal cycle, implying that they are largely of motor vehicle origin. Total nonmethane organic compounds (NMOC) concentrations averaged over the morning, and the 24-hour periods have a large day-to-day variation with no apparent seasonal cycle. Aromatics play a dominant role in contributing to total NMOC reactivity and ozone-forming potential. Anthropogenic NMOC of diverse sources are major components of total NMOC and consist mainly of moderate and low reactivity species. In contrast, relatively low levels of biogenic NMOC concentrations were observed in urban Shanghai. The early morning NMOC/NOx ratios are typically below 8:1 with an average of around 4:1, indicating that the sampling location is situated in a NMOC-limited regime. Model simulations confirm that potential photochemical ozone production in Shanghai is NMOC-sensitive. It is presently difficult to predict the impact of future human activities, such as the increase of automobiles and vegetation-covered landscapes and the reduction of aerosol on ozone pollution in the fast developing megacities of China, and additional studies are needed to better understand the highly nonlinear ozone problem. © 2009., the American Geophysical Union.

Abstract Background Crohn’s disease (CD)-associated periodontitis is common. However, the role of periodontal pathogens in the Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease remains unclear. Methods To investigate the potential relationship mediated by periodontal pathogens between periodontitis and CD, we collected salivary samples from healthy participants (H group, n = 12), patients with CD (Ch group, n = 10), patients with periodontitis (Ps group, n = 12), and patients with Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease (Cp group, n = 12) and analyzed them by 16 S rRNA sequencing. Results Patients with Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease had increased levels of Fusobacterium, Actinomyces, Leptotrichia, and Prevotella, which correlated with the severity of periodontitis. Conversely, the levels of Streptococcus, Neisseria, Haemophilus, and Gemella, which decreased in Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease, were negatively correlated with the severity of periodontitis. To further investigate the role of periodontal pathogens in CD development, representative periodontal pathogens causing periodontitis, Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum, were administered to mice. These pathogens migrate to, and colonize, the gut, accelerating CD progression and aggravating colitis, and even systemic inflammation. In vitro experiments using a Caco-2/periodontal pathogen coculture revealed that P. gingivalis and F. nucleatum increased intestinal permeability by directly disrupting the tight junctions of intestinal epithelial cells. Conclusion Our findings strongly suggest that periodontal pathogens play a role in the relationship between periodontitis and CD. These results provide a basis for understanding the pathogenesis of Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease and may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Abstract Smart sensors with excellent performance are accelerating the development of biomedicine and the Internet of Energy. Nanodielectrics exhibit unique electrical and mechanical properties. As the predominant materials in optical magnetic field sensor (MFS), they can not only exert the anti‐interference of optical sensing, but improve the measuring characteristics of optical sensors. For instance, the optical fibre quantum probe for the magnetic field can obtain a higher sensitivity of 0.57 nT/Hz1/2, while the measurement range of the sensor that uses Co‐doped ZnO nanorods as cladding is 17–180 mT. Here, these exciting recent achievements in the realm of optical sensing methods for magnetic field detection are reviewed, with a focus on nanodielectrics, which provide an emerging opportunity to achieve higher sensitivity and a wider measurement range of MFS.

The main purpose of this article is to present the mood system of Myanmar within the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). The mood system of Myanmar is composed of two simultaneous systems: mood type and mood force. The former focuses on describing the methods of exchange including declarative, interrogative, and imperative, while the latter focuses on the “language force” embedded in the exchange. In this study, certain structures for Mood realization and Mood particles used by Myanmar speakers are presented for each type and subtype of the mood type and mood force systems of Myanmar. The findings show the interpersonal metafunction of Myanmar language makes an important contribution to further contrastive studies between the mood systems and their realizations of Myanmar and those of foreign languages.

The fundamental aspect of tissue injury was the structural changes and functional disorders caused by a great deal of cell death, it might further develop into organ damage in severe cases. At present, the treatment of tissue injury was more focused on improving the micro-environment and promoting cell renewing. Insufficient attention was paid to the repair of cell damage, this oversight could exacerbate disease conditions and create difficulties in achieving healing. Thus, treating tissue injury should be based on repairing cell damage. In order to systematically grasp the research status and drug development of cell damage and repair, this article provided a systematic review of the damaging causes, repair mechanisms, and drug development from the perspectives of DNA damage, RNA damage, protein damage, mitochondrial damage, membrane damage and cell death. It was expected to contribute to promoting the research and development of repair medicines.
