Abstract Background Crohn’s disease (CD)-associated periodontitis is common. However, the role of periodontal pathogens in the Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease remains unclear. Methods To investigate the potential relationship mediated by periodontal pathogens between periodontitis and CD, we collected salivary samples from healthy participants (H group, n = 12), patients with CD (Ch group, n = 10), patients with periodontitis (Ps group, n = 12), and patients with Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease (Cp group, n = 12) and analyzed them by 16 S rRNA sequencing. Results Patients with Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease had increased levels of Fusobacterium, Actinomyces, Leptotrichia, and Prevotella, which correlated with the severity of periodontitis. Conversely, the levels of Streptococcus, Neisseria, Haemophilus, and Gemella, which decreased in Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease, were negatively correlated with the severity of periodontitis. To further investigate the role of periodontal pathogens in CD development, representative periodontal pathogens causing periodontitis, Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum, were administered to mice. These pathogens migrate to, and colonize, the gut, accelerating CD progression and aggravating colitis, and even systemic inflammation. In vitro experiments using a Caco-2/periodontal pathogen coculture revealed that P. gingivalis and F. nucleatum increased intestinal permeability by directly disrupting the tight junctions of intestinal epithelial cells. Conclusion Our findings strongly suggest that periodontal pathogens play a role in the relationship between periodontitis and CD. These results provide a basis for understanding the pathogenesis of Coexistence of CD and periodontal disease and may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Cholesterol is a structural component of cell membranes. How rapidly growing tumor cells maintain membrane cholesterol homeostasis is poorly understood. Here, we found that glioblastoma (GBM), the most lethal brain tumor, maintains normal levels of membrane cholesterol but with an abundant presence of cholesteryl esters (CEs) in its lipid droplets (LDs). Mechanistically, SREBP-1 (sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1), a master transcription factor that is activated upon cholesterol depletion, upregulates critical autophagic genes, including ATG9B, ATG4A, and LC3B, as well as lysosome cholesterol transporter NPC2. This upregulation promotes LD lipophagy, resulting in the hydrolysis of CEs and the liberation of cholesterol from the lysosomes, thus maintaining plasma membrane cholesterol homeostasis. When this pathway is blocked, GBM cells become quite sensitive to cholesterol deficiency with poor growth in vitro. Our study unravels an SREBP-1-autophagy-LD-CE hydrolysis pathway that plays an important role in maintaining membrane cholesterol homeostasis while providing a potential therapeutic avenue for GBM.

Nowadays, depression has been a prominent mental health problem throughout the world. A common but negative social experience, social exclusion (also known as ostracism) is a great risk factor for individuals' health and adaptation. Undergraduate students are in a development period of challenges and transitions, so they are vulnerable to suffering from depression and negative social experiences. Against this background, the present study aimed to examine the association between social exclusion and undergraduate students' depression as well as the underlying mechanism - the mediating roles of rejection sensitivity and social self-efficacy. Seven hundred sixty-two undergraduate students were recruited to participate in this study, who were asked to complete a set of questionnaires measuring social exclusion, depression, rejection sensitivity, and social self-efficacy. After controlling for gender, social exclusion was positively associated with undergraduate students' depression. And rejection sensitivity and social self-efficacy could significantly mediate this relation through three mediating paths - the separate mediating effects of rejection sensitivity and social self-efficacy, as well as the serial mediating effect of rejection sensitivity and social self-efficacy. Abstract Objective To present clinical experiences regarding surgical treatment of patients with severe cicatricial tracheal stenosis. Patients and methods From January 2008 to March 2020, 14 patients underwent tracheal resection and reconstruction under general anesthesia. Nine cases had cervical tracheal stenosis and five cases had thoracic tracheal stenosis. The mean diameter and length of strictured trachea was 0 − 8 mm with a mean of 4.5 ± 2.4 mm and 1 − 3 cm with a mean of 1.67 ± 0.63 cm, respectively. General anesthesia and mechanical ventilation were performed in ten cases and four patients underwent femoral arteriovenous bypass surgery due to severe stenosis. End-to-end anastomosis of trachea was performed in 13 cases and the anastomosis between trachea and cricothyroid membrane was performed in one case. Absorbable and unabsorbable sutures were used for the anterior and posterior anastomoses, respectively. Postoperative neck anteflexion was maintained by a suture between the chin and superior chest wall. The relevant data of the 14 patients were retrospectively reviewed, and the operation time, blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative complications and follow-up were retrieved. Results There was no intraoperative death. The length of resected trachea ranged from 1.5 to 4.5 cm with a mean of 1.67 ± 0.63 cm. Operation time ranged from 50 − 450 min with a mean of 142.8 ± 96.6 min and intraoperative hemorrhage ranged from 10 − 300 ml with a mean of 87.8 ± 83.6 ml. Follow-up period ranged from 5 to 43 months with a mean of 17.9 ± 10.6 months. None of the patients had recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis during postoperative follow-up. Ten cases were discharged uneventfully. Anastomosis stenosis occurred in three cases who received interventional therapies. Bronchopleurocutaneous fistula occurred in one patient after 6 days postoperatively and further treatment was declined. Conclusion The strategies of anesthesia, mechanical ventilation, identification of stenosis lesion, the “hybrid” sutures and postoperative anteflexion are critical to be optimized for successful postoperative recovery.

While abundant research has investigated the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language (EFL) writing in college contexts, there has been little examination of writing in primary and secondary school settings. It is important to understand the writing literacy development of young EFL learners and to explore instruction that supports their growth as writers. For research and pedagogical purposes, we conducted a review of 136 studies of EFL writing in primary and secondary school contexts from 2012 to 2019 concerning three themes: (1) contexts and participants, (2) research foci and theoretical orientations, and (3) research methodology and data sources. The findings offer a broad picture of the scholarship on EFL writing in school contexts over the last eight years and suggest future directions for researching and teaching EFL writing in primary and secondary school contexts.

Cyberbullying victimization is becoming more prevalent and adversely affects mental health. This research explores the relationship between the two variables and the underlying mechanism, especially for children, as the impact of mental health in childhood might last a lifetime. Primary school students (N = 344; Mage = 9.90; 43.90% girls) completed self-report questionnaires regarding cyberbullying victimization, self-perceived social competence, optimism, and depression at school. Gender and grade were controlled as covariates. Depression was positively predicted by cyberbullying victimization, while self-perceived social competence played a partially mediating role. In addition, optimism directly and indirectly moderated the effects of cyberbullying victimization on depression. Specifically, the effects were stronger for children with low levels of optimism. Therefore, efforts to enhance children’s self-perceived social competence and optimism may reduce their depression resulting from cyberbullying victimization.

In low-pressure wax injection molding, cooling time refers to the period during which the molten plastic inside the mold solidifies and cools down to a temperature where it can be safely ejected without deformation. However, cooling efficiency for the mass production of injection-molded wax patterns is crucial. This work aims to investigate the impact of varying surface roughness on the inner walls of the cooling channel on the cooling efficiency of an aluminum-filled epoxy resin rapid tool. It was found that the cooling time for the injection-molded products can be determined by the surface roughness according to the proposed prediction equation. Employing fiber laser processing on high-speed steel rods allows for the creation of microstructures with different surface roughness levels. Results demonstrate a clear link between the surface roughness of cooling channel walls and cooling time for molded wax patterns. Employing an aluminum-filled epoxy resin rapid tool with a surface roughness of 4.9 µm for low-pressure wax injection molding can save time, with a cooling efficiency improvement of approximately 34%. Utilizing an aluminum-filled epoxy resin rapid tool with a surface roughness of 4.9 µm on the inner walls of the cooling channel can save the cooling time by up to approximately 60%. These findings underscore the significant role of cooling channel surface roughness in optimizing injection molding processes for enhanced efficiency.

Recently, lipid metabolism reprogramming has been further evidenced in malignancies via the observation of large amounts of lipid droplets (LDs) in human tumors, including in glioblastoma (GBM), the most lethal primary brain tumor. However, the role played by LDs in tumor cells remains unknown. Here, we show that triglycerides (TG), the major components of LDs, serve as a critical energy reservoir to support GBM cell survival. TG/LDs rapidly diminished in GBM cells upon glucose reduction, whereas inhibiting fatty acid oxidation or autophagy resulted in the accumulation of TG/LDs and strongly potentiated GBM cell death. Immunofluorescence imaging and time-lapse videos showed that LDs are hydrolyzed by autophagy to release free fatty acids that mobilize into mitochondria for energy production. Our study demonstrates that autophagy-mediated hydrolysis of TG/LDs maintains energy homeostasis and GBM survival upon glucose reduction, suggesting that limiting TG/LDs utilization might be necessary upon treating GBM.

Abstract Background This multi‐center study was aimed at retrospectively evaluating the feasibility, safety, clinical outcomes, and surgical learning curve of an optimized procedure for right upper lobectomy (RUL), which is challenging because of the anatomical structures and features of this lobe. Methods This study included 45 RUL cases of robot‐assisted thoracoscopy (RATS) in a pilot cohort and 187 RUL cases of video‐assisted thoracoscopy (VATS) in three cohorts. A total of 121 and 111 patients underwent traditional and optimized RUL, respectively. The optimized surgical procedure was performed to consecutively transect the superior arterial trunk and bronchus, and finally disconnect the pulmonary vein and posterior ascending artery with interlobar fissures. Clinical and radiological data were reviewed retrospectively. Results Optimized RUL can be performed successfully by RATS or VATS. The optimized procedure yielded better clinical outcomes than the traditional procedure, including shorter operation times, less blood loss, fewer complications, shorter hospital times, lower costs, and a lower likelihood of postoperative intermedius bronchial kinking. Additionally, for calcified interlobar lymph nodes, the optimized VATS group was less likely to be converted to thoracotomy than the traditional group. The skills required to perform optimized VATS RUL can be gained by surgeons after 12 to 15 cases. The two RUL procedures in the pilot cohort showed similar disease‐free survival. Conclusions The optimized RUL was safe, economical, and feasible, with a short learning curve and satisfactory disease‐free survival.

Abstract Background In this study, we aimed to summarize the extremely important lesson and experience in the whole process of surgical treatments of lung tumors for the benefit of steps taken to prevent against unplanned reoperation. Methods Demographical and clinical information of 7732 patients were retrospectively retrieved and reviewed, who were diagnosed with pulmonary tumor and underwent surgical treatments from January 2016 to March 2021. Those patients who underwent unplanned reoperation for the treatment of severe complications were focused carefully and analyzed meticulously. Results A total of forty-one patients (41/7732) received 44 unplanned reoperations. Among them, eight and thirty-three patients were diagnosed with benign and malignant tumor, respectively. The incidence of unplanned reoperations seemed to be similar on both sides (Left vs. Right: 12/3231 vs. 29/4501, p = 0.103). Lobectomy plus segmentectomy is prone to reoperation (2/16, 12.5%) as compared to the other types of surgery. The complications leading to reoperation was hemothorax, including active hemorrhage (23/44, 52.3%) and clotted hemothorax (6/44, 13.6%), chylothorax (8/44, 18.2%), and the others (7/44, 15.9%) including bronchopleural fistula, torsion, or injury of right middle bronchus and pulmonary bulla rupture. The morbidity and mortality after unplanned reoperation were 17.1% (7/41) and 12.2% (5/41), respectively. Conclusions Bronchi or vessel stumps, the surgical edges of the lung parenchyma, and pleural adhesions should be checked to avoid postoperative bleeding. Prophylactic ligation of the thoracic duct should be recommended in case of the suspected oily-like exudation in the lymph node bed. Smooth expansion of the middle lobe is important to avoid narrowing and torsion before transection of the bronchus.

When multiple coal working faces are mined at the same time in the coal mine, the change of branch air volume of any roadway will cause the change of branch air volume of other roadway. The air volume control of any coal working face in the mine will affect the air volume change of other coal working faces in the mine. Therefore, it is necessary to intelligently control the air volume of multiple coal working faces. However, the current research on intelligent control of air volume in coal working face is mainly based on automatic control algorithm of mine air volume or mine air volume control equipment. It lacks the research on the on demand dynamic linkage control system for air volume of multiple coal working faces. In order to solve the above problems, this paper puts forward a design scheme of on demand dynamic linkage control system for air volume of multiple coal working faces. Taking the louvered remote automatic regulating air window deployed in the return air crossheading of 3308 working face in Shanxi Tiandi Wangpo Coal Industry as the research object, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is used to simulate the flow field distribution of the regulating air window. The Origin software is applied to fit the non-linear relationship between the wind area of the regulating air window and the wind resistance, and obtain the functional relationship between them. The relative error between the wind resistance of the regulating air window measured on site and that calculated by fitting is less than 6%. Based on the functional relationship between the wind area and the air resistance of the regulating air window and a joint calculation method of wind resistance regulation of multiple coal working faces, the upper computer calculation software is developed. And based on the upper computer calculation software, the underground explosion-proof and intrinsically safe control substation and the louvered remote automatic regulating air window, the on demand dynamic linkage control system for air volume of multiple coal working faces is constructed. The on demand dynamic linkage control of air volume on demand is carried out on 3308 and 3203 coal working faces in Wangpo Coal Industry. The field application shows that the relative error between the target air volume and the actual air volume after control is less than 7%. This result indicates that the on-demand dynamic linkage control system for air volume of multiple coal working faces has certain use effect.

Two binuclear Gadolinium(III) (Gd) complex [Gd2(L1)2(H2L3)2(NO3)2] (1) and [Gd2(L2)2(H2L3)2(NO3)2] (2) were obtained by using 2‐hydroxybenzaldehyde or 2‐hydroxy‐1‐naphthaldehyde, 2‐aminophenol, pyridin‐2‐ylmethanamine and Gd(NO3)3 ⋅ 6H2O in CH3CN (H2L1=(E)‐2‐((2‐hydroxybenzylidene)amino)phenol, H2L2=(E)‐1‐(((2‐hydroxyphenyl)imino)methyl)naphthalen‐2‐ol, H2L3=pyridin‐2‐ylmethanamine). Structural analysis suggests that all the ligands as protective units protect the central Gd(III) ions at the periphery. Magnetization studies exhibited magnetocaloric effect of 14.45 J ⋅ kg−1 ⋅ K−1 at 4 K under ΔH=7 T for complex 1 and 12.69 J ⋅ kg−1 ⋅ K−1 at 2 K under ΔH=7 T for complex 2. In complexes 1 and 2, although the coordination configurations are the same, the significant difference in MCE may be due to the adjustments of the peripheral ligands leading to changes in the coordination field strength. Understanding how fault-related structures influence oil and gas accumulation is crucial for geological investigations and exploration planning. This study, based on 3D seismic data, analyzes the northeast-trending strike-slip fault zone in the eastern part of the Bachu Uplift. Automatic fault extraction techniques were employed to delineate the strike-slip fault zone, and the parallel bedding indicator was used to identify reservoirs and investigate the fault's segmented features and reservoir-controlling characteristics. The results show that the northeast-trending strike-slip fault is primarily governed by simple shear stress and conforms to the Riedel shear model. Three distinct structural styles were developed: vertical, pull-apart, and push-up segments, each exhibiting varying profile characteristics and planar patterns. The segmentation of the strike-slip fault controls the distribution of Ordovician fault-karst reservoirs. An oil and gas enrichment model for the strike-slip fault zone has been established, characterized by external hydrocarbon supply, fault-mediated migration, segmented reservoir control, and high-elevation accumulation. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to further explore the association of pain intensity and sensitivity with suicidal ideation in adolescents with depressive disorder by comparing the differences in pain intensity and sensitivity between adolescent patients with depressive disorders and healthy controls. Patients and Methods: A consecutive enrollment method was used to select 158 adolescent patients with depressive disorders from three hospitals in Anhui Province as the MDD group, and 47 healthy adolescents were recruited as the Control group. The subjects' suicidal ideation was assessed using the Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation scale (PANSI), and the intensity of somatic pain was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale-11 (NRS-11). Subjects were assessed for forearm and tibial pain sensitivity using a hand-held pressure pain instrument, and experimental pain sensitivity measures included pressure pain threshold (PPT) and pressure pain tolerance (PTO). Differences in pain intensity and sensitivity between the MDD group and the Control group were compared, and the association of pain intensity and sensitivity with suicidal ideation was analyzed. Results: The incidence of physical pain in adolescent depressive disorder was higher at 88.6%, which was significantly higher than the Control group (P< 0.001), and the pain intensity in the MDD group (3.77± 2.48) was significantly higher than the Control group (0.617± 0.99) (P < 0.001).The Pain tolerance was significantly higher in the MDD group (forearm 105.37 ± 41.46; tibia 121.29 ± 41.60) than in the Control group (forearm 91.92 ± 37.62; tibia 105.47 ± 35.52) (P < 0.05).Linear regression analysis showed that the greater the pain intensity and pain tolerance, the higher the total PANSI score.Binary logistic regression showed that pain intensity was an influencing factor for suicidal ideation. Conclusion: Adolescents with depressive disorders have higher pain intensity and lower pain sensitivity than healthy adolescents. Increased pain intensity and pain tolerance were positively correlated with suicidal ideation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
