Abstract

Wavelength switchable microcavity is indispensable component for various integrated photonic devices. However, achieving two wavelength band emission of the whispering gallery mode (WGM) laser is challenging. Here, we propose a strategy to realize two wavelength band emission WGM lasers activated by photo-isomerization based on excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process in isolated/coupled polymer microfiber cavities. The WGM microcavity is built by highly polarized organic intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) dye molecules. The two cooperative gain states of ICT dye molecules can be controlled by optimizing energy levels. Thereby, the lasing wavelength can be reversibly switched under photo-isomerization activated in the ESIPT energy-level progress. The photonic bar code can be generated by following the strategy of proposed design. This work provides a promising route to achieve switchable WGM laser in on-chip photonic integration.

Abstract

Single mode lasers, particularly red-green-blue (RGB) colors, have attracted wide attention due to their potential applications in the photonic field. Here, we realize the RGB single mode lasing in a hybrid two-dimension and three-dimension (2D–3D) hybrid microcavity (μ-cavity) with a low threshold. The hybrid 2D–3D μ-cavity consists of a polymer fiber and a microsphere. Typical RGB polymer film consisting gain materials are cladded on a fiber. To achieve single mode lasing, the polymer fiber therein serves as an excellent gain cavity to provide multiple lasing modes while the microsphere acts as a loss channel to suppress most of the lasing modes. Mode switching can be realized by adjusting the pump position. It can be attributed to the change of coupled efficiency between gain μ-cavity and loss μ-cavity. Our work will provide a platform for the rational design of nanophotonic devices and on-chip communication.

Abstract

As the demand of astronomical observation rising, the telescope systems are becoming more and more complex. Thus, the observatory control software needs to be more intelligent, they have to control each instrument inside the observatory, finish the observation tasks autonomously, and report the information to users if needed. We developed a distributed autonomous observatory control framework named Remote Autonomous Control System 2nd, RACS2 to meet these requirements. The RACS2 framework uses decentralized distributed architecture, instrument control software and system service such as observation control service are implemented as different components. The communication between components is implemented based on a high-performance serialization library and a light-weighted messaging library.The interfaces towards python and Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) are implemented, so the RACS2 framework can communicate with EPICS based device control software and python-based software. Several system components including log, executor, scheduler and other modules are developed to help observation. Observation tasks can be programmed with python language, and the plans are scheduled by the scheduler component to achieve autonomous observation.A set of web service is implemented based on the FastAPI framework, with which user can control and manage the framework remotely.Based on the RACS2 framework, we have implemented the DATs telescope's observation system and the space object observation system.We performed remote autonomous observation and received many data with these systems., Comment: 22 pages, 16 figures

27. Protein microarray: sensitive and effective immunodetection for drug residues

Abstract

Abstract Background Veterinary drugs such as clenbuterol (CL) and sulfamethazine (SM2) are low molecular weight ( Results The artificial antigens were spotted on microarray slides. Standard concentrations of the compounds were added to compete with the spotted antigens for binding to the antisera to determine the IC50. Our microarray assay showed the IC50 were 39.6 ng/ml for CL and 48.8 ng/ml for SM2, while the traditional competitive indirect-ELISA (ci-ELISA) showed the IC50 were 190.7 ng/ml for CL and 156.7 ng/ml for SM2. We further validated the two methods with CL fortified chicken muscle tissues, and the protein microarray assay showed 90% recovery while the ci-ELISA had 76% recovery rate. When tested with CL-fed chicken muscle tissues, the protein microarray assay had higher sensitivity (0.9 ng/g) than the ci-ELISA (0.1 ng/g) for detection of CL residues. Conclusions The protein microarrays showed 4.5 and 3.5 times lower IC50 than the ci-ELISA detection for CL and SM2, respectively, suggesting that immunodetection of small molecules with protein microarray is a better approach than the traditional ELISA technique.
