13. Grid-Side Harmonic Current Suppression Based on Carrier Phase-Shifted PWM and Extended State Observer for High-Power Multiple Parallel 3L-ANPC Rectifier

Abstract

In the high-speed maglev system, high-power multiple three-level active neutral point clamped rectifiers are connected in parallel to the grid via phase-shifting transformers. Due to the low switching frequency and long dead time, the rectifiers produce rich low-order harmonics, which will deteriorate the power quality. In this article, harmonic current suppression strategies based on improved carrier phase-shifted (CPS) PWM and the extended state observer (ESO) are proposed. Aiming at the minimum total harmonic distortion of the grid-side current, the universal guidelines for the optimal CPS angle with the number of rectifiers are proposed. To suppress the low-order harmonics, multiresonance controllers are introduced into the disturbance estimation loop of the ESO, whose output is used for feed-forward compensation. The effectiveness of the strategies is verified by hardware-in-the-loop simulation and experiments.

14. Adaptive-SMO-Based Traction Force Fluctuation Suppression Strategy Considering Suspension System for High-Speed Maglev Train

Abstract

The excitation pole of the long stator linear synchronous motor (LSLSM) used to drive the high-speed maglev train is also used as the suspension electromagnet, which makes the adjustment of the suspension system affect the excitation flux linkage of the motor when the train is running at high speed, resulting in significant nonperiodic traction force fluctuations. This article proposes a traction force fluctuation suppression strategy based on the flux linkage observation. First, based on the mathematical model of the LSLSM in double feed mode, the voltage equation based on the new extended back electromotive force is derived, which is less sensitive to the changes of parameters, load current, and speed, so that the flux linkage can be estimated more accurately. Then, to meet the high dynamic requirements of flux linkage observation at high speed, a sliding mode flux linkage observer is designed and a design method of the adaptive sliding mode gain is proposed to achieve fast convergence of the system. Finally, the stator reference current required to suppress the traction force fluctuation is calculated. Hardware-in-the-loop experiments verify the effectiveness of the strategy.

Abstract

To improve the robustness and dynamic tracking performance of the stator current control for the long stator linear synchronous motor (LSLSM) used in high-speed maglev train traction system, a composite current control strategy combining a sliding mode current controller (SMCC) and a sliding mode disturbance observer (SMDO) is proposed in this article. First, the LSLSM mathematical model in double feed mode is optimized. Then, an SMCC is designed based on the model. An improved stability criterion is proposed and the SMCC switching gain is obtained quantitatively to meet the current following speed required for the stator changeover process. As disturbance factors, parameter perturbation of the LSLSM and the stator changeover will bring about transient current fluctuations and chattering. Therefore, an SMDO is designed to estimate the disturbances and perform feed-forward compensation for the SMCC, thereby improving the robustness and suppressing the current chattering. Finally, the hardware-in-the-loop experiments verify the effectiveness of this strategy and compare it with the traditional current control strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper compares the machine learning algorithm‐based prediction methods for the traction characteristics in linear traction induction motors operating at common working conditions, i.e. different slip and running velocity, with a symmetric or asymmetric secondary. These models provide a method for obtaining the dynamic characteristics in the motor that considers nonlinear effects. First, some analytical results for the prototype machine under different working conditions is calculated. Second, classification and feature extraction of traction characteristics results including thrust, transversal and vertical forces is made according to the different slip, running speed and lateral secondary displacement, and the results set is divided into training sets and test sets. Third, the prediction model established by different machine learning algorithms are analyzed and compared in principle. These algorithms in this paper mainly contain: artificial neural networks (ANNs), linear regression (LR), symbolic regression using GP, k‐Nearest Neighbour (kNN), random forests (RFRs). The machine learning algorithm‐based prediction methods are trained with the training set, and then the verified with the test set. Abstract

The Emitter Turn-Off (ETO) thyristor, a novel hybrid power semiconductor device, is a potential substitute for IGCT (Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor) in high power applications. A sub-circuit functional model for the ETO device is presented in this paper, which simulates static and dynamic characteristics in PSIM software with low computational costs and acceptable accuracy. The model is verified by comparing simulation with experiment of a 4500V/4000A ETO device. Further experiments are presented, which show the difference in dynamic characteristics between the ETO and the IGCT.
