Abstract

This paper proposes a multi-objective H2/H ∞ maximum power tracking control of a variable speed wind turbine to minimize the H2 tracking error and ensure the H ∞ model reference-tracking performance, simultaneously. The optimal condition is obtained via a boost converter use, which adapts the load impedance to the wind turbine generator. Thus, based on the fuzzy T-S model, a multi-objective Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller is developed, ensuring maximum power transfer, despite wind speed variation and system uncertainty. To specify the optimal trajectory to follow, a TS reference model is proposed taking as input the optimal rectified DC current. The conditions of stability and stabilization are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) for uncertain and disturbed T-S models leading to determining the controller gains. Finally, an example of MPP tracking applied to a Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy control law. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

38. Diffusion weighted imaging changes in extra-abdominal desmoid tumor after cryotherapy.

Abstract

Desmoid tumors (DT) are rare benign tumors with a local invasion potential and recurrence. It is characterized on histology by an abnormal fibroblastic proliferation in a collagenous stroma, in variable proportions leading to heterogeneity of the lesion signal on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Current guidelines propose watchful waiting but in case of progression or symptoms, cryotherapy may be a therapeutic option in its extra-abdominal form. Tumor recurrence is mostly detected based on post-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Although DWI sequence is the key-sequence for tumor detection in oncologic imaging, there are very few data in literature on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) in DT generally and even fewer on DT after cryotherapy. DWI changes after cryotherapy may be confusing and suspicious of residual tumor or tumor recurrence when displaying low ADC values; thus knowledge of possible DWI patterns after cryotherapy of DT seem paramount. We found that the early changes of DT after cryotherapy are hyperintensity on DWI sequence with low ADC values (<1.00 × 10−3mm2/s), without corresponding enhancement and a later decrease in signal of the treated lesion on DWI. The freezing-thawing cycles of cryotherapy turn DT into gelatinous necrosis with a slow resorption rate, as reported in the only few studies referring of changes of DWI signals after cryotherapy, which are on renal and prostate models. Hyperintensity on DWI with low ADC values may be seen in early MRI follow-up after cryotherapy of extra-abdominal DT, corresponding with tumor necrosis changes and should not be mistaken with recurrence. Magnetic resonance imaging is the modality of choice for desmoid tumor (DT) follow-up, mainly based on contrast uptake which make data on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) very rare. Cryotherapy is an accepted therapeutic option for DT that will lead to tumor necrosis. Hyperintensity on DWI with low apparent diffusion coefficient values is a possible expected early pattern on DWI after cryotherapy of DT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

International audience; This paper presents a 130nm CMOS (HCMOS9 from ST-Microelectronics) 6.3 pJ/b ultra-low power energy detector circuit design and implementation. The designed energy detector is implemented with three blocks: the squarer based on a MOS transistor biased in the subthreshold region, the integrator based on a low pass amplifier and a decision circuit. The energy detector is driven by a LNA of 30 dB gain. The experimental results show that a BER of 10 –3 is achieved for a peak to peak voltage of 3.4 mV at receiver input for a data rate of 100 Mb/s, leading to a receiver sensitivity of -58.4 dBm. The energy power consumption is 0.63 mW resulting in an energy of 6.3 pJ/b. The overall Rx power consumption is 14.4 mW (100 % duty cycled) with a 1.2 V supply voltage when the receiver is always on. This value is drastically reduced with a power gating technique due to the duty cycle of the IR-UWB pulses. For example, assuming an on-stage window of 5 ns, the total power consumption becomes 7.2 mW @ 100 Mb/s. The chip area is 1.43 mm 2 .
