Abstract

Oil and gas exploration opportunities for US companies have opened up in Cambodia, following the end of a US trade embargo in 1991. However, US companies are not very eager to take advantage, since estimates of Cambodian oil and gas reserves are relatively low. Furthermore, most of the potential oil fields are onshore, where civil war and leftover minefields greatly increase risk.
