"This study was done in 2012 in the laboratory of Nematology, Department of Parasitology, in the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro, in Buenavista Saltillo, Coahuila. The objective of this study is to evaluate botanical extracts from walnut Carya illinoensis (Wangenh) K. Koch to control the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne sp. Göeldi 1892. The nematodes were obtained from galls of potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum L) Var. Alpha. Females and egg masses were extracted and used to do morphological analysis of female perineal model and measurement of distinct characters of second-stage juveniles and it was determined that they corresponded to Meloidogyne incognita. For the evaluation of biological effectiveness of the extracts they were placed in plastic plates with cavities, at different concentrations (1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) testing a population of 30 ± 5 active specimen of Meloidogyne incognita. The experiment was completely randomized with eleven treatments each one including control with five replicates. Nematodes were observed with a stereoscopic microscope at 24, 48 and 72 h, to determine the percent of mortality. The extracts with higher nematicidal activity were FIM8 (Husk aqueous extract) with 89.16%, FIM6 (Husk ethanolic extract) 69.22%, and FIM7 (Shell aqueous extract) with 60.77% at a concentration of 2% and observed after 72 h of exposure. In a greenhouse of the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro, the extracts FIM6 (ethanolic extract of husk), FIM7 (aqueous extract of peel) and FIM8 (aqueous extract of husk), was evaluated, in order to determine their effects on Meloidogyne incognita in tomato plants Solanum lycopersicum., var. Pony Express. Tomato plants grown in sterile substrate (Peat Moss) were used, and inoculated with 100 J2 of M. incognita, and two different concentrations of each extract were evaluated (1.5% and 2.0%). After 30 days of incorporing the extracts to the substrate, it was processed by the Baerman funnel methodology to determine the mortality rate of the final nematode population, these data were analyzed with a randomized block of six treatments and an absolute control (water) with four replicates. The extracts with higher nematicidal activity were FIM8 (aqueous extract of husk) at the concentration of 2.0% and 1.5% with 99.00% and 97.00% of mortality respectively, followed by the FIM6 (ethanolític extract of husk ) with 87.25% and 71.00% of mortality."
