Abstract

This article discusses the origin and purpose of Yoga (according to the method and teaching of living Yoga Master B.K.S. Iyengar) and its use as a Complementary Therapy. Studies (performed by this author) examine Iyengar Yoga's application as a Complementary Medicine to treat and manage osteoarthritis of the hands and fingers, carpal tunnel syndrome, and osteoarthritis of the knees. These studies present credible preliminary medical evidence documenting the therapeutic benefits of Yoga. *Yoga refers to the method of B.K.S.
