This work is related to the extension of the well-known problem of Roman domination in graph theory to fuzzy graphs. A variety of approaches have been used to explore the concept of domination in fuzzy graphs. This study uses the concept of strong domination, considering the weights of the strong edges. We introduce the strong-neighbors Roman domination number of a fuzzy graph and establish some correlations with the Roman domination in graphs. The strong-neighbors Roman domination number is determined for specific fuzzy graphs, including complete and complete bipartite fuzzy graphs. Besides, several general bounds are given. In addition, we characterize the fuzzy graphs that reach the extreme values with particular attention to fuzzy strong cycles and paths.

The concept of mutual visibility in graphs, introduced recently, addresses a fundamental problem in Graph Theory concerning the identification of the largest set of vertices in a graph such that any two vertices have a shortest path connecting them, excluding internal vertices of the set. Originally motivated by some challenges in Computer Science related to robot navigation, the problem seeks to ensure unobstructed communication channels between navigating entities. The mutual-visibility problem involves determining a largest mutual-visibility set in a graph. The mutual-visibility number of a graph represents the cardinality of the largest mutual-visibility set. This concept has sparked significant research interest, leading to connections with classical combinatorial problems like the Zarankiewicz problem and Tur\'an-type problems. In this paper, we consider practical limitations in network visibility and our investigation extends the original concept to $k$-distance mutual-visibility. In this case, a pair of vertices is considered $S$-visible if a shortest path of length at most $k$ exists, excluding internal vertices belonging to the set $S$. The $k$-distance mutual-visibility number represents the cardinality of a largest $k$-distance mutual-visibility set. We initiate the study of this new graph parameter. We prove that the associate decision problem belongs to the NP-complete class. We also give some properties and tight bounds, as well as, the exact value of such parameter for some particular non trivial graph classes.

Astrophysics - Instrumentation and Methods for Astrophysics ,Astrophysics - Earth and Planetary Astrophysics ,Astrophysics - Solar and Stellar Astrophysics - Abstract
PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is ESA's M3 mission designed to detect and characterise extrasolar planets and perform asteroseismic monitoring of a large number of stars. PLATO will detect small planets (down to <2 R_(Earth)) around bright stars (<11 mag), including terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. With the complement of radial velocity observations from the ground, planets will be characterised for their radius, mass, and age with high accuracy (5 %, 10 %, 10 % for an Earth-Sun combination respectively). PLATO will provide us with a large-scale catalogue of well-characterised small planets up to intermediate orbital periods, relevant for a meaningful comparison to planet formation theories and to better understand planet evolution. It will make possible comparative exoplanetology to place our Solar System planets in a broader context. In parallel, PLATO will study (host) stars using asteroseismology, allowing us to determine the stellar properties with high accuracy, substantially enhancing our knowledge of stellar structure and evolution. The payload instrument consists of 26 cameras with 12cm aperture each. For at least four years, the mission will perform high-precision photometric measurements. Here we review the science objectives, present PLATO's target samples and fields, provide an overview of expected core science performance as well as a description of the instrument and the mission profile at the beginning of the serial production of the flight cameras. PLATO is scheduled for a launch date end 2026. This overview therefore provides a summary of the mission to the community in preparation of the upcoming operational phases.

Computer Science - Machine Learning - Abstract
Background and purpose: The unanticipated detection by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the brain of asymptomatic subjects of white matter lesions suggestive of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been named radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS). As the difference between early MS [i.e. clinically isolated syndrome (CIS)] and RIS is the occurrence of a clinical event, it is logical to improve detection of the subclinical form without interfering with MRI as there are radiological diagnostic criteria for that. Our objective was to use machine-learning classification methods to identify morphometric measures that help to discriminate patients with RIS from those with CIS. Methods: We used a multimodal 3-T MRI approach by combining MRI biomarkers (cortical thickness, cortical and subcortical grey matter volume, and white matter integrity) of a cohort of 17 patients with RIS and 17 patients with CIS for single-subject level classification. Results: The best proposed models to predict the diagnosis of CIS and RIS were based on the Naive Bayes, Bagging and Multilayer Perceptron classifiers using only three features: the left rostral middle frontal gyrus volume and the fractional anisotropy values in the right amygdala and right lingual gyrus. The Naive Bayes obtained the highest accuracy [overall classification, 0.765; area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC), 0.782]. Conclusions: A machine-learning approach applied to multimodal MRI data may differentiate between the earliest clinical expressions of MS (CIS and RIS) with an accuracy of 78%. Keywords: Bagging; Multilayer Perceptron; Naive Bayes classifier; clinically isolated syndrome; diffusion tensor imaging; machine-learning; magnetic resonance imaging; multiple sclerosis; radiologically isolated syndrome., Comment: 24 pages, 2 tables

Physics - Chemical Physics - Abstract
We extend our recent theoretical work on the bending relaxation of H$_2$O in collisions with H$_2$ by including the three water modes of vibration coupled with rotation, as well as the rotation of H$_2$. Our full quantum close-coupling method (excluding the H$_2$ vibration) is combined with a high-accuracy nine-dimensional potential energy surface. The collisions of para-H$_2$O and ortho-H$_2$O with the two spin modifications of H$_2$ are considered and compared for several initial states of H$_2$O. The convergence of the results as a function of the size of the rotational basis set of the two colliders is discussed. In particular, near-resonant energy transfer between H$_2$O and H$_2$ is found to control the vibrational relaxation process, with a dominant contribution of transitions with delta j2 = +2, +4. Finally, the calculated value of the H$_2$O bending relaxation rate coefficient at 295 K is found to be in excellent agreement with its experimental estimate.

Astrophysics - Astrophysics of Galaxies - Abstract
Radial velocity fluctuations on the plane of the sky are a powerful tool for studying the turbulent dynamics of emission line regions. We conduct a systematic statistical analysis of the H alpha velocity field for a diverse sample of 9 H II regions, spanning two orders of magnitude in size and luminosity, located in the Milky Way and other Local Group galaxies. By fitting a simple model to the second-order spatial structure function of velocity fluctuations, we extract three fundamental parameters: the velocity dispersion, the correlation length, and the power law slope. We determine credibility limits for these parameters in each region, accounting for observational limitations of noise, atmospheric seeing, and the finite map size. The plane-of-sky velocity dispersion is found to be a better diagnostic of turbulent motions than the line width, especially for lower luminosity regions where the turbulence is subsonic. The correlation length of velocity fluctuations is found to be always roughly 2% of the H II region diameter, implying that turbulence is driven on relatively small scales. No evidence is found for any steepening of the structure function in the transition from subsonic to supersonic turbulence, possibly due to the countervailing effect of projection smoothing. Ionized density fluctuations are too large to be explained by the action of the turbulence in any but the highest luminosity sources. A variety of behaviors are seen on scales larger than the correlation length, with only a minority of sources showing evidence for homogeneity on the largest scales., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 28 pages with numerous figures, tables, and appendices. Surgery ,RD1-811 - Abstract
Introduction:. This study aimed to identify research areas that demand attention in multimodal data-driven surgery for improving data management in minimally invasive surgery. Background:. New surgical procedures, high-tech equipment, and digital tools are increasingly being introduced, potentially benefiting patients and surgical teams. These innovations have resulted in operating rooms evolving into data-rich environments, which, in turn, requires a thorough understanding of the data pipeline for improved and more intelligent real-time data usage. As this new domain is vast, it is necessary to identify where efforts should be focused on developing seamless and practical data usage. Methods:. A modified electronic Delphi approach was used; 53 investigators were divided into the following groups: a research group (n=9) for problem identification and a narrative literature review, a medical and technical expert group (n=14) for validation, and an invited panel (n=30) for two electronic survey rounds. Round 1 focused on a consensus regarding bottlenecks in surgical data science areas and research gaps, while round 2 prioritized the statements from round 1, and a roadmap was created based on the identified essential and very important research gaps. Results:. Consensus panelists have identified key research areas, including digitizing operating room (OR) activities, improving data streaming through advanced technologies, uniform protocols for handling multimodal data, and integrating AI for efficiency and safety. The roadmap prioritizes standardizing OR data formats, integrating OR data with patient information, ensuring regulatory compliance, standardizing surgical AI models, and securing data transfers in the next generation of wireless networks. Conclusions:. This work is an international expert consensus regarding the current issues and key research targets in the promising field of data-driven surgery, highlighting the research needs of many operating room stakeholders with the aim of facilitating the implementation of novel patient care strategies in minimally invasive surgery.

While multi-energy microgrids (MEMGs) offer a promising approach to reduce energy consumption through coordinated integration of various energy vectors, research has primarily focused on static studies. These studies aim to optimize a particular cost function but neglect the dynamic aspects of the system operation. This paper presents a dynamic model of an MEMG comprising of electricity and thermal vectors. A novel dynamic fuzzy logic-based energy management system (EMS) is investigated, aiming to ensure energy balance (electric and thermal), optimize renewable energy utilization, and reduce the reliance on the local electricity grid and gas. Both the EMS and MEMG have been evaluated under different weather conditions and a 4-hour variable load profile. Furthermore, the EMS effectiveness has been verified through a real-time experiment using an OPAL-RT4512 unit and a dSPACE MicroLabBox prototype. The results show that the proposed fuzzy logic-based EMS outperforms a conventional EMS based on machine states (states-based EMS), achieving a notable reduction in electricity grid consumption of 80%, as well as a consumption reduction of 7.4% in the gas boiler and 5.4% in the electric boiler. Furthermore, the control performance results in a remarkable reduction in ITAE (42.57%), ITSE (89.10%), IAE (54.36%) and ISE (57.55%) for the hot water temperature control, and in ITAE (17.06%), ITSE (52.50%), IAE (31.19%) and ISE (29.99%) for the heating control.

- Abstract
Natural gas is playing a key role in the decarbonisation of our energy system. This transition fuel is the cleanest fossil fuel and its combustion produces 50% less carbon dioxide than coal and 30% less than oil per unit energy generated. However, natural gas is itself a greenhouse gas responsible for a third of all global warming since pre-industrial levels. Natural gas-powered processes such as electricity production, industrial operations, residential heating and natural gas-fuelled vehicles inevitably emit small concentrations of unburned methane. Due to their low concentration (i.e. 300-1500 ppmV), these residual methane emissions have long been overlooked. As a result, there is no direct legislation addressing them and, today, an effective technology to abate these emissions is unavailable. The objective of this work is to develop a residual methane after-treatment technology that is cost-effective, long-lived and compact. The technology must be effective under real conditions and be resistant to sulfur poisoning at low temperature (i.e. 450°C), the main limitation faced by traditional precious metal-based catalysts. In order to evaluate the performance of the technology presented herein, reaction studies under real and extreme conditions as well as thorough characterisation of the materials have been fulfilled. This work has successfully underpinned the first hollow fibre after-treatment for residual methane emission abatement. This technology combines a non-precious iron and chromium oxide catalyst with a ceramic hollow fibre-based support. The developed catalyst, which is a mixture of hematite, eskolaite and traces of iron (II) chromite, has shown high resistance to sulfur poisoning during the 1000 h reaction study under sulfur dioxide concentrations 20 to 100 times larger than normal levels. Even though the catalyst was initially deactivated, it retained a third of its original activity. The long-term activity of the catalyst has been attributed to the highly sulfur-resistant eskolaite phase. In comparison, state-of-the-art precious metal-based catalysts are deactivated within hours under similar conditions. In addition, when compared to packed bed reactors, hollow fibre reactors have proven to be 3 to 5 times more efficient in terms of methane catalytic oxidation per unit mass of catalyst. Moreover, the technology has proven to be effective under real operating cycles (i.e. 10 thermal shocks) making it the ideal candidate for the development of commercial residual methane emission after-treatments. Finally, this technology has the potential to reduce an estimated 5.6 billion cubic metres annual residual methane emissions arising from electricity production, industrial and residential heating as well as transportation [1,2]. The global warming effect of these annual emissions over 20 years is equivalent to 470 billion cubic metres of carbon dioxide, a volume similar to the water volume of Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Furthermore, industrialising this technology will pressure legislators to include residual methane emissions in future greenhouse gas regulations.

- Abstract
In this thesis, new synthetic methods to give access to molecules having fluorinated scaffolds and other polar functional groups have been developed. The methods give access to highly valuable organic compounds that may serve as building blocks in the synthesis of functionalized drug candidates. In particular, the present thesis describes four new protocols for the synthesis of such compounds starting from allylic substrates and enol derivatives, using metal- or organocatalysts. In the introductory chapter (Chapter 1), the importance and the different approaches to catalysis are discussed. The structural features and reactivity of allylic substrates are presented, followed by an extensive description of the use of CO2 as a building block in organic synthesis. In the final part of this chapter, the structure and common reactive pathways of hypervalent iodine(III) reagents are described. In the second part (Chapter 2), a palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution method is designed to obtain 3-fluoropiperidines from 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and allylic carbamates. The final products are further functionalized in a chemo- and diastereoselective manner. Additionally, the enantioselective version of this reaction is studied using chiral phosphoramidite ligands. In the third chapter, an umpolung methodology for CO2 fixation is explored in the coupling of silyl enol ethers with amines and CO2 mediated by hypervalent iodine(III) reagents. The mechanism of this transformation is examined using DFT calculations and experimental results. Moreover, this protocol is extended to 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, yielding -carbamate-- ketocarbonyl compounds. The final part of this thesis (Chapter IV and V) describes the base-catalyzed stereospecific isomerization of allylic halides and amines. Catalytic amounts of a simple guanidine type base (TBD), are able to transfer the chirality during the isomerization reaction of chiral allylic substrates. In the case of allylic amines, the synthetic utility of the chiral enamine/imine intermediates derived from the isomerization reaction is extensively explored, designing a one-pot protocol for the stereospecific and diastereoselective synthesis of chiral - trifluoromethylated aliphatic amines with two non-consecutive stereogenic centers.

In the marine environment, fish parasites are present in most seafood species. The most common are nematodes of the genus Anisakis, which can parasitize human tissues, causing anisakiasis and allergies—in some cases with a strong reaction, such as anaphylactic shock. This happens when people ingest live or dead larvae present in the muscles or viscera of a wide range of fish and cephalopods. Consumer education has been positioned as one of the most effective alternatives for its prevention. This study, carried out in Asturias (northwest Spain), sought to identify the seafood products that present the greatest risk of anisakiasis for consumers, taking into account their consumption, the prevalence of Anisakis, and consumer knowledge about this parasitosis. In the results, hake (Merluccius merluccius) and cod (Gadus morhua), frequently consumed in the region and with high parasite prevalence, do not pose a great risk because they are consumed when well cooked. Instead, sardine (Sardina pilchardus), highly consumed and less parasitized, and anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus), highly parasitized and less consumed, would exhibit a medium risk. Young participants know more about the risks of anisakiasis from raw seafood. The gaps detected in the knowledge about the ability of temperature treatments to eliminate parasites, especially in allergic people, must be addressed for better prevention. We suggest campaigns adapted to the population sectors.
