Introduction: In recent decades the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health has been analyzed. One conception of emotional intelligence is as a trait, composed of three dimensions: attention, clarity and repair. On the other hand, mental health is commonly measured by the presence/absence of internalizing and externalizing symptoms. Objective: In this study, the cluster analysis approach is used to determine the existence of different combination profiles of the three dimensions that make up the emotional intelligence construct, and to analyze possible differences in the symptomology reported by persons with different profiles of emotional intelligence. Method: The sample consisted of 328 university students between the ages of 17 and 31 years (M = 20.86; SD = 2.22), that is, in the stage of emerging adulthood. Results: Three differential profiles of emotional intelligence are obtained; these represent different combinations of attention, clarity and mood repair, and present significant differences in internalizing and externalizing symptomatology. Conclusions: The utility of cluster analysis for determining the existence of different profiles in emotional intelligence has been demonstrated. The profile characterized by low levels of attention and higher scores in clarity and mood repair presents the lowest levels of internalizing and externalizing symptoms; by contrast, the profile that presents a higher level of attention and lower scores in clarity and repair is associated with the highest scores in internalizing and externalizing symptoms. A profile with high scores in all three dimensions of emotional intelligence occupies the intermediate position in terms of reported symptomology.

Introduction: The mentonian foramen is a crucial structure located in the anterior part of the mandible, particularly significant in surgical procedures involving the mandible, especially within the interforaminal area. Consequently, for a more precise analysis of this anatomical structure, Cone Beam CT scans are employed. This imaging technique offers a three-dimensional image of superior quality of the maxillofacial complex, devoid of overlapping images, geometric distortions, and false negatives. Such clarity is essential for minimizing the risk of iatrogenic lesions. Objective: To determine the distance from the mentonian foramen to the alveolar ridge and the mandibular base using Cone Beam Computed Tomography in dentate patients. Methodology: The study was descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective. A total of 109 Cone Beam Computed Tomography scans of dentate patients were evaluated from March to October 2020, taken from the Maxillofacial Diagnostic Institute (IDM) in Lima, Peru. The participants were between 18 and 50 years old and were distributed into three age groups: 18 to 28 years old, 29 to 39 years old, and 40 to 50 years old. The analysis focused on the distances from the upper edge of the mentonian foramen to the alveolar ridge and from the lower edge of the mentonian foramen to the mandibular base, taking into account sex and age group. For statistical analysis, SPSS Statistics version 26.0 was used. The t-test for related samples was applied to evaluate differences between the right and left sides, the independent t-test to analyze measures between male and female sexes, and one-way ANOVA for the analysis across age groups. All tests were conducted at a significance level of 5%. Results: The mentonian foramen is closer to the mandibular base than to the alveolar ridge, with mean distances of 13.81mm and 14mm, respectively. The average distance was shorter in the 40 to 50 years age group, and females presented shorter distances. Conclusion: The mentonian foramen is positioned 13.81mm above the mandibular base. Introduction: Physical and aggressive behavior which children and adolescents show toward peers is associated to parenting styles. The aim of this research was to examine the relation between perceived parenting styles (from mothers and fathers) and the level of physical and verbal aggressive behavior, anger and hostility showed towards the peers. Method: Thirty hundred and seventy-one students, aged 12-16 years old, answered to several self-report measures: Escala de Afecto (EA) and Escala de Normas y Exigencias (ENE) as well as, Aggressive Questionnaire. Results: Analysis of variance revealed that adolescents whose parents showed an authoritative parenting style obtained lower scores in physical and verbal aggressive behaviors than peers whose parents showed an authoritarian style. Moreover, boys scored higher than girls in physical aggressive behavior. Discussion and Conclusion: A perceived authoritarian parenting style was associated with a higher aggressive behavior. Low levels of affectio and high levels of control, which define an authoritarian style, were associated with higher levels of aggressive behavior, which could negatively affect the behavior exhibited by adolescents in different context as peer interactions.

The behavior of quantum dot, quantum wire, and quantum well InAs/GaAs solar cells is studied with a very simplified model based on experimental results in order to assess their performance as a function of the low bandgap material volume fraction fLOW. The efficiency of structured devices is found to exceed the efficiency of a non-structured GaAs cell, in particular under concentration, when fLOW is high; this condition is easier to achieve with quantum wells. If three different quasi Fermi levels appear with quantum dots the efficiency can be much higher. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The conversion efficiency of ultra-thin solar cells based on layered materials has been limited by their open-circuit voltage, which is typically pinned to a value under 0.6 V. Here we report an open-circuit voltage of 1.02 V in a 120 nm-thick vertically stacked homojunction fabricated with substitutionally doped MoS 2. This high open-circuit voltage is consistent with the band alignment in the MoS 2 homojunction, which is more favourable than in widely-used TMDC heterostructures. It is also attributed to the high performance of the substitutionally doped MoS 2 , in particular the p-type material doped with Nb, which is demonstrated by the observation of electroluminescence from tunnelling graphene/BN/MoS 2 structures in spite of the indirect nature of bulk MoS 2. We find that illuminating the TMDC/metal contacts decreases the measured open-circuit voltage in MoS 2 van der Waals homojunctions because they are photoactive, which points to the need of developing low-resistance, ohmic contacts to doped MoS 2 in order to achieve high efficiency in practical devices. A colloidal deposition technique is presented to construct long-range ordered hybrid arrays of self-assembled quantum dots and metal nanoparticles. Quantum dots are promising for novel opto-electronic devices but, in most cases, their optical transitions of interest lack sufficient light absorption to provide a significant impact in their implementation. A potential solution is to couple the dots with localized plasmons in metal nanoparticles. The extreme confinement of light in the near-field produced by the nanoparticles can potentially boost the absorption in the quantum dots by up to two orders of magnitude.In this work, light extinction measurements are employed to probe the plasmon resonance of spherical gold nanoparticles in lead sulfide colloidal quantum dots and amorphous silicon thin-films. Mie theory computations are used to analyze the experimental results and determine the absorption enhancement that can be generated by the highly intense near-field produced in the vicinity of the gold nanoparticles at their surface plasmon resonance.The results presented here are of interest for the development of plasmon-enhanced colloidal nanostructured photovoltaic materials, such as colloidal quantum dot intermediate-band solar cells.
